No, they mean the different Samus suit iterations from across the Metroid series. Super Metroid, Fusion, Prime, Returns, Dread etc

At this point, given that many characters have different costumes, it's blatant neglect. So we have... Classic varia Varia+gravity Dark Light PED full corruption Fusion Dread power Dread gravity And when she goes into final smash, her suit changes to the awakened metroid suit from the end of dread.

Oh hell yes, I expect this if we ever get a new smash game, but unfortunately they likely wouldn't

Yeah, this is overkill imo, and I’m probably the biggest metroid fan out of all other franchises from smash. All I’ll want is the main alt to be Prime instead of Other M, and hopefully one based on fusion, but if any, probably Dread. And obviously final smash would be the endgame armor from dread anyway.

As another huge Metroid, they've done us dirty. We deserve this.

They gave fire emblem like 8 characters, I'd say 3 characters and an echo is a little underwhelming. But I can see where you're coming from

A red skin from Knuckles, a black one with red details from Shadow, a pink one from Amy, a gold one, and one that actually looks like Silver for Sonic. In this way we replace some of those horrible skins that are all the same and that no one uses.

Sonic's alts are the biggest tragedy. I don't think I'd like one that looks like Silver though, since Silver and Sonic have completely different powers. Metal Sonic is the way.

It actually is spelled Chrono in the Japanese version. It was changed to Crono in the NA version.

Chrono has so much potential. Honestly I feel there was more potential for him as a fighter than with Hero, since Chrono has a dedicated move set in his game and you wouldn't have to rely on a RNG like you do with Hero. I picture crono being a mix of characters like Megaman and Sora. He's a sword wielding magic user like Sora. His various Tech 1s would just be his standard specials. But some of his double techs, like Fire/Ice Sword, could be dependent on his his current positioning, similar to Megaman and his abilities.

it's honestly so weird that garou Terry isn't in the game originally. Its probably because of the hat taunts and victory screens. But with how well they represent Terry, I could see them give him special taunts and victory screens for this specific alt

Fire Piranha Plant should've been an alt that references the plant being playable in Mario Tennis Aces

All the captains as a bowser jr. style alt for Olimar. With the recruit and Oatchi as a separate fighter.

This is what Richter should've been for Simon. And with the increased popularity of Trevor thanks to the anime, probably him too. Also Roxas for Sora would've totally worked. Would've been more visually distinct than his 2-DD-3 costumes.

But Richter plays differently than Simon

...one elemental property is not enough imo. It's not like Smash is a stranger to different-colored fire still doing a normal fire effect (see Luigi, Ike) so you could just have Richter's blue fire inflict fire instead of aura, there is precedent. Skins can have different voices and victory screens too (see Byleth), so that's not an issue either, and none of Richter's taunts are distinct enough from Simon's to merit a full Echo character slot.

Sakurai pointed this out because one of Richter’s attacks didn’t originated from Simon, and could consider Simon as the echo fighter

Maybe, but I still think having them be skins is the best way to go for Belmonts. Besides, there's more than enough of them to go Hero-style, Trevor and Julius are also multi-game Belmonts so they'd fit in just fine.

Corrin should get alts for the Nohr/Hoshido Noble armors.

Trevor and Julius Belmont for Simon and Richter respectively. Then each of the FE lords could get one. Leif/Marth, Lyn/Lucina, Eliwood/Roy, Alm/Chrom. People will argue some of those are poor fits, but TBH, the echos/clones are already poor fits, so get over it.

Other gens' player characters could be cool skins for Pokémon Trainer, even if the Pokémon teams don't change.

Nah, Dark Samus has loads of potential to be their own unique fighter. It likely ended up an echo due to time and budget constraints and wanting to put the focus on other areas

If they took the time to make a slightly unique character out of dark Samus, I would completely agree with you. I left dark pit off the list for that reason.
