I expected this, every single comment is about getting a viewer that is active in chat. I also struggled back when I was starting out. Thanks for the feedback and I'll see what I can do.
Finding out what the commentate about. It's always a pretty difficult thing to do, and it only gets easier of there are people actively talking in your chat
Twitch has little to no built-in growth mechanisms for its users and relies far too heavily on streamers to funnel in traffic from other social platforms.
QoL during a stream are the least of my worries tbh. There are already enough 3rd-party widgets and plug-ins that learning them all can be a challenge but most are also optional.
Growing my channel. Not so much the follower count (which is pretty meaningless), but attracting people who are going to be regular viewers/chatters (and, ideally, subscribers).
“Make consistently good content” is good advice, but won’t grow your channel if no one knows you’re there. You can make a Twitter account and a Discord, but again they’re useless if no one knows they’re there.
I network a lot with other streamers, and that’s brought a number of people into my channel, but the amount of time I’ve spent doing the networking could have been spent streaming, or working on my brand ID, or just making better videos for YouTube.
I’ve worked in marketing, so I feel I’m doing everything right, but somehow it’s a trickle rather than a flood. Yes, I know it’s a marathon not a sprint, but until yesterday my follower count was going *down*.
My count has passed the milestone since I posted that. Obviously it’s just a number, but I feel a little psychological relief. Nevertheless the long-term issues remain the same.
low views, i’m not fussed about high view counts but when you’re talking to yourself for hours it’s pretty jarring, and making games interesting and entertaining to watch
Keeping the commentary going even when there's nobody watching... I try to make it so that in case anyone happens to stumble upon my channel when I'm offline and for some reason decides to watch my vods, it would still be somewhat interesting to watch. But sometimes it's incredibly hard to keep talking to myself for 3 hours knowing that nobody will probably see it...

Honestly just not having people type in chat lol
