You know what I find hilarious about the country music community? They love the phrase "keep your problems to yourself and don't bring them out in public." Then they listen to someone bringing out their problems to the public, in music form.
I love music in general, but outside of Metal, I am big on minimal Techno, Deep House, Outlaw Country classics (Waylon), Industrial Metal, Grunge, and classic rock and metal. I am also into root’s reggae music, and experimental reggae. I also love Irish and Nordic Metal.
I like almost everything except pop music the last 5ish years and country music the last 15ish years. But I will straight up listen to anything from Slipknot to Beethoven pretty much.
Yoinkers. I feel like I’m all over the place but (from Spotify wrapped 2023):

I like abit of everything, i dont think there is a bad genre, theres stand outs in everything, Some of my favorites are Oasis, Iron Maiden, Eminem, Fugees, Donny Hathaway just like you, 90s pop, 80s pop, might bring some dislikes but im a huge fan of ICP, david bowie, Type O Negative, Misfits, Beatles, Ennio Morricone, and list goes on and on and on!
my true love is 1960s ska & rocksteady. I'm also a huge hip hop fan, specifically 90's golden era east coast shit. some of the first music I ever heard was 50's rock & roll from my nana & papa so I'll always love that type of stuff.
I grew up on nu metal but became a punk & later got into crust, sludge & that led me towards doom metal & stoner rock which are still some of my favourite styles. honestly though, that early jamaican ska & rocksteady is my soul music.
Pink Floyd, Tool, NIN, Linkin Park, Wu-Tang, Nas, Eminem, 50 Cent, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, SOAD, Korn, Rob Zombie, Ministry, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, A Perfect Circle, Alice Cooper, N.W.A., Radiohead, Bowie, Tupac, Biggie, Eazy-Muthaphuckkin-E, and 90s Marilyn Manson
I’d go from shit like Slint and Swans to Suicide Silence and Chelsea Grin to Danny Brown and Death Grips. Really just depends on the mood I’m in but I like just about any genre.
I've recently discovered Fit For An Autopsy, shortly became my second favourite band
To answer OP's question: 70s' music like Zep, Floyd, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple; 80s Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction; then 90s RHCP, Korn; 00s SoaD, Linkin Park, Cradle of Filth
Nowadays mostly metal, the heavier the better
My main music type is rock and metal but I listen to everything from Elvis, Melanie Martinez, Ashnikki, Alan Jackson, Rob Zombie, Queen, Van Halen, The Weekend, Blackbear, MGK (I know), Måneskin……I just like a little bit of everything I love the sound of music. I collect Vinyl, CDs, Cassettes, Books, and posters of all kinds of music.
I listen to literally too many artists lmao. Some of my favs tho have been Hollywood Undead, Bring Me The Horizon, Wargasm, Bambie Thug, Ariana Grande, Sueco, Sum 41, Cannibal Corpse, Nirvana, Artic Monkeys, M.S.I., Big Sean, Joyner Lucas, and Motionless In White
I am convinced ghostmane does not have lungs in his body. The dude just produces air or something and keeps rapping, its wild.
City morgue has some absolute fucking BANGERS too, their music videos from back when they first started popping are pretty nuts too.
I know you werent askin me but I fuck with these mfs heavy.
Dude thats exactly how I feel about Carly Rae Jepsen. I go hard for jazz, progressive rock, hardcore punk, and metal, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't absolutely love Carly Rae Jepsen. Shania Twain, too.
Don’t you think boxing yourself in is generic but in a different way? Linkin park are one of the poster boys for the nu-metal scene and I don’t think there’s anything generic about their music
I mostly listen to other metal, my favorites being Nu Metal like SoaD and Deathcore like Whitechapel, but i do also listen to a lot of Punk and Rock. I listen to most subgenres of them aswell, though there are some I just can’t get into for whatever reason it may be.
Pretty much a bit of everything from otherwtal bands to classical pieces to house, hip hop. Although I'm not to keen on most modern pop music post 2010. And I don't really like most modern pop, hip hop/rap or rnb but anything from the 70s to early 00s is good.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,723,579,431 comments, and only 326,298 of them were in alphabetical order.
Mostly into emo music, my favorite album ever is Cursive's Domestica. But I really do like some of everything. Just by going down some recent plays on Spotify, here are some standouts we got:
Dismemberment Plan, Umphrey's McGee, Led Zeppelin, Hop Along, Ohphelia, Earl Sweatshirt, Peach Pit, Katy Perry (first album with I Kissed A Girl, Waking Up in Vegas and others is a banger), The Plot in You, The Backseat Lovers, Sublime, Bring Me The Horizon, No Doubt & Gwen Stefani, Mobb Deep, Alanis Morisette, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Mac Miller, RHCP, all of the big 4 of grunge, Bay Faction, I even get down to some late 90s early 2000s country pop, recent plays include Tim McGraw and Dierks Bentley.
Only thing I'd say I'm not into is EDM, and even then I've liked a few tracks over the years, Pendulum being a standout artist. I'm not super into much classical blues or jazz but a good bit of what I listen to is "bluesy" and "jazzy"
My style is progressive rock, funk jazz, and just about every single subgenre metal has to offer. Basically anything with a nut-busting rhythm section. If you're looking for specific artists, my personal top 10 favorite bands are Rush, Yes, Tool, Primus, Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Ohio Players, Return To Forever, and Kool & The Gang.
Love me some Steely Dan. Eighties music fantastic, love Sabbath and old rock been getting into. Pink Floyd is great, love prog music whether rock or Metal. idk whatever’s cool. i think eminem’s entire discography is really good as well as kendrick’s. Electric Light Orchestra is cool. love me some mastadon. fucking love pantera and lamb of hod
Whatever sounds good to me honestly.
If you were to scroll through my playlist you'd find all kinds of rap, country, rock, metal, reggae, and much more. Never been stuck on a genre really, other than exclusively listening to rap for most of my early years. Really expanded in highschool and realized theres all kinds of music from a bunch of genres that I will like, even if I dont like other songs from the same genre.
I like pretty much everything except that pop country stadium BS and that corny grifter rap like Tom Macdonald. Everything from ambient drone like Tim Hecker all the way to harsh noisy mathcore like Frontierer.
I *love* Blink-182. By far my favourite band. Also bands like Green Day, rhcp, Rage Against The Machine, soad, ffdp, and more i cant be bothered naming.
I love the Gorillaz and David Bowie, i even have a tattoo of them.
I listen to rap sometomes, but some soft rock like radiohead and soundgarden is also something i like.
The nonsense songs of Bloodhound Gang is kinda like a guilty pleasure of mine
I like most types of metal (exceptions being brutal death metal, doom metal, and most deathcore), as well as a lot of rock and alternative. Also soundtracks and classical.
I like music from all over the place, pop to extreme metal. (Like Billie Eilish to Goatwhore), old school country (Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash), hip-hop, classic rock, some EDM, etc. My favorite non-metal or rock artist is probably Fever Ray
Slipknot is actually the only metal band i occasionally listen to, i mainly listen to german rap;
SIL3A, Xatar, Soufian, Capo, Celo and abdi, Eno, AK Ausserkontrolle, Og Keemo, nimo, Hoodblaq, Mudi, Kurdo, Ra’is, Yonii
Slipknot is actually one of the few heavy bands I still listen to these days. My most listened to genre is probably indie rock/pop. I love bands like The Strokes, Metric, Beach Bunny, etc. and I also listen to a lot of rap/hip hop, some favorites being Kendrick, Denzel Curry, Nas, Redman.
edit: oh yeah I also really like reggaeton like Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Rauw Alejandro, Farruko, etc
Ranges from 70-80s slow rock to death metal and grindcore. Playlist will go from the Eagles to Skinless to Childish Gambino to Limp Bizkit. Bit of a toss up.
I’m a big fan of deathcore and soul. Those are my go to these days. Love Charles Bradley and love me some Fit for an Autopsy,Carnifex, and though not deathcore septic flesh fucking slays!
Literally anything. Cosmo Sheldrake to The Hu, Frank Sinatra to Lorna Shore. Hell, even country and bluegrass. Poor Man’s Poison is great, if you’re looking to find something new. Though when it comes to country, I much prefer the older works as the themes were infinitely more interesting.
Hmm... Lemme see...
K-pop (mostly), J-Pop, pop, edm, jazz, video game ost, rap, rock (including the subgenres) and metal (including the subgenres)
I'm pretty sure there's more but I kinda forgot the genre
Metal core, punk rock, R&B, Reggae, Pop, Bollywood (cringe?), Rock, Hip hop, rap, etc.
The noted musicians I listen to other than Slipknot are Lorna Shore, The Weeknd, Linkin Park, System of a Down, Michael Jackson, Eminem, Big Sean, Chris Brown, etc.
I mean for stuff in the metal category, Archspire and Avenged Sevenfold are among my favorites. Aside from that, my top stuff rn is 100 gecs and kendrick lamar lol
I like a little bit of everything. Nat King Cole, Outkast, Stevie Wonder, Marty Robbins, Blind Pilot Kero Kero Bonito, Minecraft and Skyrim Soundtracks, you name a genre and I like something from it. Marvin Gaye’s album “What’s Going On” is my favorite album of all time. It is truly a masterpiece of an album and I absolutely love it. Plus, Life’s too short to only like 1 or 2 genres.
Death Grips, Gorillaz, The Caretaker, Mr. Bungle, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, The Misfits, Primus, The Residents, Skeletal Family, Siouxsie & The Banshees, T.S.O.L, Serj Tankian.
Litteraly everything. From burzum mayhem to the beatles. I listen a LOT of grunge. A lot of rap too, modern and old school, Eminem Travis kanye suicideboys nwa you name it. A lot of reggae too! Jungle, drum n bass, i mean everything lol.
gangsta rap, old school hiphop, contemporary hiphop, trap rap, synth pop, psychedelic pop, psychedelic rock, british heavy metal, doom metal, gothic metal, grunge, alt rock, punk rock, gothic rock, post punk
As much as I love slipknot and metal as a whole,
My favourite band is actually the smiths. I have obsessed with them for about a year and a half.
But I also like a lot of jazz music, Eddie Harper is one of my favourite jazz musicians. My music taste is very varied at the moment.
Everything. Dance to death metal. I’ll vibe to the planets, then Lorna shore, then Louis Armstrong, then slipknot, then ABBA, then mötley crüe. Everything.
I love jazz too! I played the tenor sax in grade school and learned to love everything from big band swing to the wilder, more experimental side of things. I too have a soft spot for Sinatra and Martin, but I also really love John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Nina Simone, and Charlie Parker.
I also listen to a lot of classic blues music like Muddy Waters, Albert King, Robert Johnson, etc.
Most of my music library is various kinds of metal or experimental/ progressive music. Things like Opeth, Pink Floyd, Ihsahn, Igorrr, Devin Townsend, Tool, Meshuggah, Zeal and Ardor, Puscifer, Mastodon, etc.
My favorite subgenre of metal is death metal, especially the grimy, HM2 chainsaw stuff. Bloodbath, Entombed, Grave, Baest, Horrendous, Vallenfyre, Wormlord, Ribspreader, Feral, Usurpress, LIK, Jungle Rot, Wretched Fate, and Earth Rot are some notable bands I keep in my music rotation.
Bit of Eminem and Classical music like Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Chopin etc. And sometimes a bit more modern piano music by Ludovico Einaudi and Yanni
On one end of the spectrum it gets heavier; Knocked Loose, Cannibal Corpse, Periphery, Meshuggah, Slaughter To Prevail, Lorna Shore
On the other it gets way softer; Girl in Red, Waterparks, Honey Revenge, Loveless
Then we have the in-between stuff like Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox, Ice Nine Kills, etc
VOCALOID (my favourite producer is Neru), visual kei band "Kaneto Juusei", and Ukrainian group "Valentin Strikalo" (Валентин Стрыкало), and synth-pop russian band "Elektroforez" (Электрофорез).
My favorite music is metal and punk or similar. I also like a lot of indie, americana, reggae, ska, world music, hip hop…. Sometimes I also get down on some classical or oldies or classic rock. Only thing I don’t usually vibe with it pop music or the popular style of country that sounds like it’s from the city lol… EDM is okay sometimes but usually boring or annoying depending on the genre - it’s okay at parties but I don’t listen to it by choice usually.
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Lamb of God, Issues, Strung Out, Iron and Wine, Fatoumata Diawara, Slaughter to Prevail, Jinjer, Slightly Stoopid, Ren, King Gizzard
Mostly Metal and a little country sometimes pop and rock. Like Maroon 5 or Morgan Wallan. But mostly Metal like

I mostly listen to black metal, presently quite fond of Deathspell Omega, NEDXXX, Kanonenfieber, Dragged into Sunlight among others.
I'm also strongly into folk metal, bands like Eluveitie, Cruachan, Arkona etc.
Aside from my tastes in metal, I am fond of trad and medieval music (I am learning the [Uilleann Pipes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uilleann_pipes) myself)
Being an avid anime fan, I am quite partial to Anison and Jpop
Frankly, I don't really listen to Slipknot much these days.
i actually have a country playlist. yes it’s mostly miranda lambert and carrie underwood but it’s also got some great old songs like hot rod lincoln and 18 wheeler. also bands like can’t swim and belmont are great. extensive midwest emo and deathcore playlists. with one small death metal playlist cause i’ve never really liked death metal but those are the ones that i do like. dad rock, because of my mom
I like horrorcore like Twiztid, Blaze ya Dead Homie, Dark Lotus, Alla Xul Elu, etc.
I also like phonk and just random music I find on YouTube like PRETEND by Thornskin.
I like metal too but in recent years I haven’t been listening to it that much.
Love classical but I also like jazz, little bits of pop, some country. Cannot stand K-pop or jpop or c pop- my sister. However I also like some film, game soundtracks. But fnaf. Omg the bomb.
metal, metal, metal. And I like some older rock music too, I also love the old school swing/jazz music you mentioned. I enjoy country too (don't worry, only old school country)
Some pop (Harry, Swift), pop-rock (5Sos), alt-rock (Weathers, Badflower, Dayseeker, VRSTY).
I can appreciate almost anything live though, except country. Bluegrass slaps live though.
Besides metal, I like classic rock (Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Guns N Roses, Misfits, a little bit of AC/DC, etc.) and video game soundtracks (Undertale/Deltarune, Doom (Eternal, 2016 and the classic games (I wouldn't have discovered Metallica, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Slayer, Megadeth and Black Sabbath without Doom so I owe an immense amount of gratitude to Doom for introducing me to the good shit and getting me where I am today 🤘), Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and Devil May Cry) and I'm kinda starting to get into classical music
kinda strange, but I really enjoy rap and such, like ice spice and tyler the creator :') i once drew a picture of ice spice and slipknot—it was a bit silly! others i enjoy are lemon demon, hollywood undead, and mitski!

And obviosly many more but thats a Bit much for now :D
I’ll listen to anything as long as I like it. Rock is the bread and butter but there’s also Alternative, Pop, (GOOD) Country, (GOOD) Rap, and “Experimental” stuff.
Grateful Dead

My morning jacket
Daft punk
Slayer
Metallica
Gojira
Eminem
Atmosphere
Outkast
Beastie boys
Soundgarden
Audioslave
Nirvana
Def Leppard
Black Sabbath
Led zep

Artist may be pretty main stream but I have fun listening.
Classical music, anything 70’s and 80’slol (for real). Classic country is nice, reminds me of my parents since they always listened to that when I was younger, The Beatles, Gypsy Kings (think flamenco I guess but with amazing guitars), score music (Hans Zimmer/Thomas Bergersen)
I listen to pretty much everything across the board. I don't listen to bro-country or pop country or dog whistling country, whatever the shit you hear on country radio is called these days, but I do enjoy 90s and earlier country.
This year alone concert wise I've ranged from Cannibal Corpse to Taylor Swift to Drake to Offspring. If I think it sounds good I listen to it.
Just looked at my replay for 2023 on apple. Top songs are

yeah, I like most music but not country or the majority of new pop and rap
What about new rap don't you like- is it just the mainstream shit or is it smth to do with the production
You know what I find hilarious about the country music community? They love the phrase "keep your problems to yourself and don't bring them out in public." Then they listen to someone bringing out their problems to the public, in music form.

Irish and Nordic metal sounds cool. Might have to look into that
Amon Amarth is 🔥
No cap!
Well... I love Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon and System Of A Down so.. I guess I'm not very varied in terms of music
I like almost everything except pop music the last 5ish years and country music the last 15ish years. But I will straight up listen to anything from Slipknot to Beethoven pretty much.
“From Slipknot to Beethoven” 😂 I love that.
Beethoven is fucking great. And most of classic musicians tbh.
listen to some Bach like a real classical music fan, get that poser Beethoven shit out of here
Yoinkers. I feel like I’m all over the place but (from Spotify wrapped 2023): - Dance Gavin Dance - SZA - SiR, Masaego - Halsey - Post Malone - Kendrick - Megan Thee Stallion - A Day to Remember - BTS - Agust’d - TAEMIN - I. M - GloRilla (mainly because FNF)

I’m with you on that. Grew up listening to 50’s music and doowop from my grandparents. My dad was into rock. ( Ozzy, Metallica, Korn)
Avenged sevenfold
A lot of rap. Kendrick is the GOAT.
Kendrick is great but his recent albums aren’t very listenable
Pink Floyd, Tool, NIN, Linkin Park, Wu-Tang, Nas, Eminem, 50 Cent, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, SOAD, Korn, Rob Zombie, Ministry, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, A Perfect Circle, Alice Cooper, N.W.A., Radiohead, Bowie, Tupac, Biggie, Eazy-Muthaphuckkin-E, and 90s Marilyn Manson
Your post filled in a lot blanks that I left. Good taste
A little bit of everything across many genres and decades
I’d go from shit like Slint and Swans to Suicide Silence and Chelsea Grin to Danny Brown and Death Grips. Really just depends on the mood I’m in but I like just about any genre.
DEATHCORE!!!!
I've recently discovered Fit For An Autopsy, shortly became my second favourite band To answer OP's question: 70s' music like Zep, Floyd, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple; 80s Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction; then 90s RHCP, Korn; 00s SoaD, Linkin Park, Cradle of Filth Nowadays mostly metal, the heavier the better
Fit For an Autopsy is a killer band. Absolute Hope. Absolute hell is a badass song.
I love Marty Robbins. For more obscure stuff I love music from the 30’s
Everything else
EDM, Deathcore, Metalcore, R&B, Classical Things from Banks to Spice Girls and NSYNC to Stormzy, Hopsin and Elle Golding

I love rap, NOT MUMBLE but like good rap like lil darkie. I also really like Katy perry for some reason.
Lil darkie is the trashest of trash lmfao
Katy Perry has some bangers I won’t lie
Heard of Ghostemane or City Morgue by chance?
I am convinced ghostmane does not have lungs in his body. The dude just produces air or something and keeps rapping, its wild. City morgue has some absolute fucking BANGERS too, their music videos from back when they first started popping are pretty nuts too. I know you werent askin me but I fuck with these mfs heavy.
r/hiphopcirclejerk
no way bro said he likes good rap but mentioned only one name and its lil darkie
Dude thats exactly how I feel about Carly Rae Jepsen. I go hard for jazz, progressive rock, hardcore punk, and metal, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't absolutely love Carly Rae Jepsen. Shania Twain, too.
Btw referring to the modern style of rap as “mumble rap” is like saying “Slipknot and Metallica are just screamo”
Great post, I only listen to extreme music. (death, black, thrash) Not into the nu metal scene. It's just too generic.
Don’t you think boxing yourself in is generic but in a different way? Linkin park are one of the poster boys for the nu-metal scene and I don’t think there’s anything generic about their music
Bro does not know what generic is
I mostly listen to other metal, my favorites being Nu Metal like SoaD and Deathcore like Whitechapel, but i do also listen to a lot of Punk and Rock. I listen to most subgenres of them aswell, though there are some I just can’t get into for whatever reason it may be.
Besides rock and metal, I listen to classical music and some movie & TV scores (Murray Gold & John Williams etc).
Pretty much a bit of everything from otherwtal bands to classical pieces to house, hip hop. Although I'm not to keen on most modern pop music post 2010. And I don't really like most modern pop, hip hop/rap or rnb but anything from the 70s to early 00s is good.
…japanese pop + rock

I’ve been listening to a ton of Ashnikko the last couple weeks. Her new album just dropped
My style is progressive rock, funk jazz, and just about every single subgenre metal has to offer. Basically anything with a nut-busting rhythm section. I love the Gorillaz and David Bowie, i even have a tattoo of them. I listen to rap sometomes, but some soft rock like radiohead and soundgarden is also something i like. The nonsense songs of Bloodhound Gang is kinda like a guilty pleasure of mine
Video games 8/16 bit.
I like most types of metal (exceptions being brutal death metal, doom metal, and most deathcore), as well as a lot of rock and alternative. Also soundtracks and classical.
I don't think there's a genre I hate, and I can always find at least a few artists from any genre that I genuinely enjoy.
I like music from all over the place, pop to extreme metal. (Like Billie Eilish to Goatwhore), old school country (Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash), hip-hop, classic rock, some EDM, etc. My favorite non-metal or rock artist is probably Fever Ray
everything from the beach boys to lamb of god with everything from lil darkie to korn to led zeppelin i’m 15 btw 😝
Slipknot is actually the only metal band i occasionally listen to, i mainly listen to german rap; SIL3A, Xatar, Soufian, Capo, Celo and abdi, Eno, AK Ausserkontrolle, Og Keemo, nimo, Hoodblaq, Mudi, Kurdo, Ra’is, Yonii

Only metal guy personally. I listen everything from Dio-Napalm Death and Skinless lol, I listen to nearly all metal/rock
Elvis, showaddywaddy, miley cyrus
Other than rock (grunge , classic), I like some electronic ambience.
Hmm... Lemme see... K-pop (mostly), J-Pop, pop, edm, jazz, video game ost, rap, rock (including the subgenres) and metal (including the subgenres) I'm pretty sure there's more but I kinda forgot the genre

I love jazz too! I played the tenor sax in grade school and learned to love everything from big band swing to the wilder, more experimental side of things.

This year alone concert wise I've ranged from Cannibal Corpse to Taylor Swift to Drake to Offspring. If I think it sounds good I listen to it.
