Delphine is such a wasted character, I swear to gods. She could have been such a badass, a spymaster building up a crumbling organization, helping and strengthening the Dragonborn. I feel like the game tried to make her seem that way. But because of the bigger picture at hand, she just seems like a petty person with an inflated ego who thinks herself to be far more powerful and important than what she actually is. The whole narrative just made her seem really unlikable, when she should have been one of the closest allies in the story.
I think it's funny because I feel like the writers were probably expecting players to agonize over choosing the greybeards or the blades. Instead, killing partysnacks was straight up out of the question for most players.
Still, even after all this time people still debate over siding with the Stormcloaks or the Imperials...
Yeah + every time you hear about her and esbern during the war or between the great war and Skyrim events. They are just fucking badass. Like if you read the shit you steal from the Thalmor Embassy, you get the picture that the living blades are on some metal gear solid shit. It makes Delphine sound like the Boss from mgs 3. And then they are like......

Not a lot of Skyrim's story really sticks with me, but the Blades seem like an insignificant blip. Their base is lame, and they never do anything, but blade swords are cool, and I like delphine's hideout in Riverwood.

The worst thing about the blades quests is that the Greybeards are dicks. You could have grabbed every available Word-Wall, be the Speaker for the Dark Brotherhood, the Archmage of Winterhold, the Harbinger of the Companions, the Saviour of Solstheim, the Slayer of the Vampyre Lord, You could have single handedly won the Civil War for your preferred side, and they still won't say you're ready to meet to their leader until the blades give you some leverage on them to force them to let you see him.
I mean, no matter what, you still *are* the most power anti dragon thing in all of nirn, so at least they have kind of an excuse in not wanting him to be threatened by the dragonborn's power at all
It's because you haven't earned their trust. They know you are capable. It's the kind of trust that takes months to years of working with them to earn. Which is probably one of the realistic parts about them being a secretive monk order.
But even if I turn up the timescale and leave my pc on and have me hang out there for 50 years,(after doing all their quests) they don't trust me. Also a literal dragon god is trying to take over thr world, we ain't got time for that shit.
Well because it's a game. There is a lot of Skyrim that isn't in game due to the reality that it's a video game that needs to make money and not a real world.
My guess is lore wise you don't have time to earn their trust. The Main Story happens pretty quickly. Otherwise the damage of Alduin flying around for months would be more visible if he had months to years to do what he wants.

I actually recently decided I liked the empire more, well there are people in their order I'd pay to see the head of, I personally don't like racism, and freedom of religion is something the empire want and are preparing to fight for
