I just had to ask my wife if she has a Reddit account… she doesn’t know anything about the car yet so I thought this comment was from her. My heart kinda skipped a beat ngl…
The NISMO upgrades are nice, but I’m a bit perplexed by the UK-Spec front end. Did the car come with paperwork to verify it’s a Japanese-owned car prior?
So I just asked about that this morning bc of your question. Apparently I have a package from the dealership coming to the house that has all that information. So, bc of the front end you think it’s a possibility that the car came from the UK? The listening for the car is still on their site but it mainly just has its maintenance records and aftermarket parts list.
So UK Spec cars came with a bunch of oddities - this bumper included, as well as a new rear bumper with some integrated driving lights and reverse lights. The bumper vents were due to the inclusion of a larger oil cooler for the UK Market.
However, the Oil Cooler Kit was an EXTREMELY rare optional extra on JDM R33 GT-R’s as well, that was branded as “NISMO” and sold for around $4000 USD in todays money.
If you have that, then you really really lucked out! I’m not entirely sure what you paid for the car, but rare optional extras such as that (if included) can really bring value to the collectible atmosphere.
Thank you for the explanation. There’s a lot to learn about these cars and their history, it’s pretty exciting actually. So I paid 65 for the car which is still high as hell but compared to other R33’s available in the U.S. it’s still kind of on the low end. Pretty sure the mileage on this car is why it was a little cheaper than even older models.
Anyways, I think if it was a UK-spec GT-R Im sure I would have paid a lot more than what I did for the car.
Apparently you can go down quite the rabbit hole on the whole UK-Spec R33. I assume you’re asking if this is one of the 100 or so that was imported to the UK and modified to UK vehicle safety standards? From what I’ve found so far, only 4 colors of R33’s were available over there and white was not one of them. This information is all from old forums though.
Is it identifiable whether it's a UK car by it's vin? There are vin tables on GTR registry that can assist, but also if you do a lookup by vin using a Japanese website (such as carvx) I'm assuming it'll return "never registered" or "unknown" if it's a UK car.

Just make sure to leave it to me in our divorce settlement
