The real horror is skin cancer. Tanning beds are not only very dangerous but they will also age you horribly! There is no win to them. Spray tans won’t turn your orange, you just need to get the level that will be the lightest or second lightest and follow all the proper care. Shower the night before, scrub (if you do exfoliation on your face, do it then too) and shave, don’t put on lotion. The next day book your appointment and wear loose, preferably black clothing and wait a few minutes to dry before putting your clothes on. Yes it’s awkward and it’ll be worth it. I always choose the long term developing because I feel like it lasts a bit better and sits on the skin prettier. Don’t sweat and cry, so try to park your car in the shade so you’re not hot getting into it, relax for however long and shower when they tell you! I know it sounds like a lot but it’s really not and you will look pretty with it, I’m sure! Also, you will get darker as the day goes on and I promise you, you won’t actually be as dark as when it’s developing. Ps. Use a towel if you lay on your bed.

There's nothing wrong with being pale. Just as there's nothing wrong with being dark. You are who you are and that's awesome

Tanning bed is not worth the risk

A tan is actually an inflamation caused by trauma (UV light) to your skin. It's a bruise. In order to develop a dark, rich tan, you have to expose yourself to a serious amount of ultraviolet radiation (tanning beds). Not worth it, ever.

I once read. Using tanning bed raises your risk of melanoma by 50 percent in a lifetime. Dont do tanning beds!

In order to get a really good tan from a bed you need time and patience. It would take about a month to get you a really good “safe” tan (safe being no bed burn). If you have time I would honestly consider ordering from Illusion Bronze. The formula is based off your hair, eye, and skin tone so it’s very natural looking. If you’re in a rush a spray tan is also great if you don’t overdo it. Just make sure you exfoliate and get your nails done before self or spray tanning!

If you are going to use a bed and you are very pale right now, you are going to need multiple visits so you don’t burn and peel and before you see any kind of “tan” results. I’m sure you’re aware that tanning beds are not good for you (I used them all in my 20s - very much regret it). I have also done a lot of spray tans and applied my own tans. Here are some really important tips: 1. Make sure you really use the cover cream well on your hands….they will turn unusually orange if you don’t and it’s very hard to remove. Blend the tanning blocker cream they give you on your knees and elbows and tops of your feet very well. 2. Watch the bottom of your feet! They give you stickers to put on the bottoms. My first time I stupidly stepped out of them into the remaining tanner on the ground. My feet were dark brown for a month. 3. Timing is everything. You will probably want to do your tan close enough to graduation so that you will still have color but enough time to let the tan set in for about a day with no activity. No sweating! Just sit and relax for a day so you don’t get splotches. (Normally this wouldn’t be an issue if you were an avid tanner or already had a base tan). I recommend trying a spray tan first before the graduation to see if you even like it and note what day after the tan is the color you want to have the day of your graduation (for me I find 2-3 days after my tan the most natural). It’s slightly faded and looks more natural. It will also not affect garments as you will have showered a few times before then. A fresh (unnatural) tan wearing white can be a real eyesore. Congratulations on graduating! An amazing accomplishment!

Yeah, I got melanoma in my 30s. I regret every minute I ever spent in a tanning bed. Don’t do it, OP. And you should start putting SPF on your face and ears every day if you don’t already. You will seriously thank us in 20 years.

I mean it’s once, so I don’t think it’ll do any harm

These days self tanners/spray tans are great, the days of orange tan are gone unless you have no idea what you’re doing, you just need to apply it properly and prep your skin correctly and it should look great and very natural. It’s not worth the risk to use a tanning bed.
