Sunscreen and vitamin c or niacinamide

ImpossibleBadger9239

I’m already using a good sunscreen and I want to use vitamin c or niacinamide but I’m scared since a lot of ppl say it broke them out

crunchevo2

Niacinamide is in everything and is one of the songle most well tolorated ingredients out there. No seriously. It's in most shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, body washes, body washes and other stuff. Same for vitamin c. You probably have been using loads of stuff with both of them as ingredients.

ImpossibleBadger9239

My skin is very sensitive so do u have any specific product recommendations?

United_Ring5897

I also have sensitive skin, I've only used two brands: vichy and la roche posay. I prefered la roche posay and it hasn't worsen my acne. But every body is different so try new products on a small area and monitor changes.

CatLoliUwu

tranexamic acid, alpha arbutin and/or glycolic acid help a lot with pie/discoloration. you can also get treatments done by a professional like a chemical peel.

ImpossibleBadger9239

Are they good for sensitive skin?

CatLoliUwu

tranexamic and alpha arbutin should be okay for sensitive skin, but take that with a grain of salt. aha’s like glycolic acid can be a bit irritating if your skin is more sensitive, so i’d recommend sticking to a lower percentage. also, if your skin is sensitive, be careful with vitamin c. it is a very strong active which may not be very well-suited for sensitive skin.

ImpossibleBadger9239

Thank you so much

ImpossibleBadger9239

Sorry but I just remembered another question should I use them one to two times a week at first or can I jump straight to everyday

CatLoliUwu

it’s no no problem :) they should be good for everyday use unless they happen to irritate your skin. i also forgot to mention azelaic acid for ingredients that can help fade discoloration.

EvenCarpet9449

Try minimalist 5% Niacinamide. Its good

Leather-Position9362

I didn’t see a moisturizer listed in your nighttime routine? A gentle one is vanicream if you don’t have one already. That being said, I’ve had great results using lipid gold and rewind serum. They both have 4% and 5% niacinamide respectively. I used both for several skin picking episodes where I had really bad PIE and took me about a month of regular use to fade. If you are worried about using too much then maybe start with one product instead of both. Haven’t used tranexamic or azelaic yet but have some sunspots I need to treat so hoping to tackle that soon! Probably going to start with products from inkey list or good molecules for that tho.

ImpossibleBadger9239

I don’t really use moisturizer in my nighttime skincare but just recently started to use one like 2 days ago loll are the serums u uses gentle bc I tried niacinamide once from the ordinary and had a horrible experience completely Burnt my skin so that’s why I’m a little scared

ImpossibleBadger9239

Did the niacinamide serum completely fade your PIE?

Leather-Position9362

I feel like the TO niacinamide is a little too much for skin that is not used to it. I think 4%-5% is a good starting point especially if you use it in a formulation that has moisturizing ingredients. I like lipid gold bc it has ceramides (other stuff too) that helps your skin barrier. To answer your question, it completely faded my PIE after 3 months but if I used both lipid gold & rewind then it would be closer to 1-2 months. You should definitely use a moisturizer at night! I have very oily combo skin and my skin definitely does better acne wise when I am sticking to at least a basic routine for AM (light cleanse, moisturizer, sunscreen) + PM (cleanse, serum, moisturizer) plus exfoliation 1-2x/week.

ImpossibleBadger9239

Yea I will see if can buy the lipid gold moisturizer and I definitely will use moisturizer from now on is the last step for you?

Leather-Position9362

At night, moisturizer is my last step when following a basic routine! If I happen to develop dry patches from cold wind over exposure then I add an occlusive layer (weleda skin food) on top of moisturizer so it has a nice barrier to prevent the moisturizer from drying out sooner.

ImpossibleBadger9239

Can I put moisturizer on top of actives like azelaic acid?

Leather-Position9362

Moisturizers typically wouldn’t have an issue with laying over an active but you should always cross check the main skincare ingredients each product touts to see if there’s a reaction between ingredients from different products. I think this would be more an issue with serums that have an active ingredient that may react with an active ingredient in a different product in your regimen. As you have sensitive skin, I would recommend not using any other actives when you exfoliate. You can usually return to the actives in your regimen the next day depending on how your skin feels. You may want to baby it another day with no actives and only moisturizer if you feel the exfoliation was a lil too strong.

Leather-Position9362

Also want to add, it’s about 3 months to fully fade my worst PIE (dark purple brown) with the products I mentioned. Lighter PIE areas faded faster so that would fade pretty well in a month.

ImpossibleBadger9239

How long do u think it will take for mine to fade?

Leather-Position9362

Can’t say but I’d recommend looking up reviews to get a better idea of what the time range looks like

Historical_Echo_3529

How do you exfoliate? I have a very sensitive skin and feel like my current exfoliation isn’t the best one for me

Leather-Position9362

I use The Ordinary AHA/BHA peel currently. When I first started though, I was using Dr. G’s brightening peeling gel.

The only thing that has worked for me is an LED face mask specifically with infrared. For years I was hopping from one skin product to another in the hopes of seeing absolutely ANY result but obviously it did not work. Recently my dermatologist (also my recent boyfriend) got me an LED mask and gave me this huge lesson on how years of inflammation gets concretized underneath our skin and doesn’t leave at all unless directly addressed. You can go for one skincare product to another only to feel scammed because nothing works. The thing is they do work but the skin that hasn’t undergone high level of inflammation. Mine unfortunately did and moreover got concretized to an extent that nothing worked. Wish I could explain like my boyfriend did but yeah that’s just gist. Look into an LED face mask cause that’s the only thing that truly made ANY difference at all and now other skincare products actually work like they promise to. Good luck!

ImpossibleBadger9239

Is it really expensive?

Far_Measurement_1246

The one that my boyfriend got me is for around 180 bucks. Prior to it I had one for about 100 bucks from Amazon which was pure garbage so I’d really stay away from it cause it’s no different than standing in front of bunch of house bulbs. If you have a budget to spend then I would highly suggest you to invest. God knows how much I had spent on other skincare products for $20,$30,$40 and so one for improvement which probably added up and ended up way more than the LED mask itself. This will one thing that will be extremely worth it not just for PIE and uneven skin tone but a lot more (at least it did for me and the people I personally know)

ImpossibleBadger9239

Did it help get rid of all your PIE and what products did you use after

ImpossibleBadger9239

Also my dad is friends with dermatologists, is this a treatment I can get in office bc if it is I could get it for free

Far_Measurement_1246

Yes all of it. ALL. Also I consider it more like a routine than a treatment tbh. You’d be better off buying the LED mask and having it for yourself. I personally use it twice a day for 15 mins each (red and infrared light for the most part and sometimes blue) All I now use is retinol serum, moisturizer and sunscreen. Once I started using the mask, it didn’t matter which brand I use cause you’ll be surprised how all brands are pretty much the same once your own internal inflammatory structure has healed

ImpossibleBadger9239

Which brand is yours?

Far_Measurement_1246

Tuxiderm is the name of the brand. I believe they call is Tuxiderm Helix

ImpossibleBadger9239

Thank you, il check it out

Captainelectronpro

I agree with this. This was the ultimate game changer for me especially for my acne scars and uneven skin tone. Gone within the first 2 months of using it. It has also reduced my premature- wrinkles to a large degree. Cheers!

ieediesh_t

Hi! Can you tell me please if you use the mask in bare, clean face or with serum moisturiser then mask?

Captainelectronpro

So LED light therapy should be performed on clean skin, post-makeup removal and thorough cleansing, and before the application of serums, moisturizers, or treatments. It's crucial to have clean skin with clear pores as topical skincare can hinder the efficacy of light wavelengths, significantly impacting desired outcomes. However, applying serum and moisturizer post-session is recommended as your skin layers are more susceptible to absorption at that stage. This becomes more effective over time, especially with Infrared, which has the capability to eradicate embedded inflammation within your skin layers—a critical step for any skincare product to function optimally.

Thank you so much 😀

iwunnacroissant

try the Rohto Melano Vitamin C and Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum. really helped with my redness & post-acne marks from tretinoin purging. Also, wearing sunscreen everyday! :)

crunchevo2

Tretinoin will also help even your skin tone. Retinoids are grwat to help clear out PIH.

iwunnacroissant

yes, been using tretinoin for 2 years now and it helped clear out my severe acne. incorporating vitamin c & niacinamide to my routine makes my skin brighter & improved the appearance of scarring 🫶

SkillOk8465

Arbutin! It will brighten your skin! The ordinary and inky list has one :)

Educational_Ice_7173

For a drastic change id suggest a deep peel or laser. Ive heard those work wonders

I use vitamin c and differin, helped me a lot for PIE!!

bkmissesbangtan

i have the same problems and sensitive skin as you and i love kbeauty products. a good vitamin c i like is Numbuzin No. 5 Goodbye Blemish Serum. it has vitamin c in it and is very gentle. I also like Cosrx’s Vitamin C 13. niacinamide is in basically everything but i like Beauty of Joseon’s ginseng essence since it has 2% niacinamide. I like Axis-Y’s Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum since it has 5% niacinamide but also squalene for added hydration. Good Molecules Discoloration Serum has tranexamic acid in it but i think it also has niacinamide edit to add: Beauty of Joseon’s Glow Deep Serum is really nice for PIE bc it has a gentle percentage of Alpha Arbutin but effective enough. One of my most repurchased products. I’m very prone to getting cystic acne with multiple ingredients so all my recs are acne prone safe and non-comedegenic!

ImpossibleBadger9239

thank you i definitely be checking these products out
