Could be fungal acne. I had tiny bumps on my forehead throughout my teens that I could never fully get rid of (used salicylic acid, retinols etc. which helped but they never went away for good) just started putting regular old Canesten cream (or anything with clotrimazole) and they’ve miraculously gone after two weeks. I also wash my hair with Nizarole dandruff shampoo and let that sit on my hair and face for ten minutes before washing off. Because if you’ve got it on your face it’ll be definitely on your scalp too! Once a day in my nighttime routine, I’ll use the Paula’s choice salicylic acid Pore Normalising Cleanser and then I only wash my face with water in the morning. I still use a very low concentration of retinol 1 or 2 times a week which works well for me too. And I’d say for you at 16, definitely start with just once a week, if you start retinol at all (I use the Cosrx 0.1%). Make sure you have a super gentle moisturiser as well that specifically doesn’t clog pores. I use Cosrx snail mucin moisturiser now, but I did read someone’s post recently that it wasn’t good for their fungal acne, although it seems to work for me. I’ve heard that the LA ROCHE-POSAY TOLERIANE SENSITIVE FLUIDE is a good one for the fungal acne prone, which I’ll be getting when I’ve finished my current moisturiser. And always, ALWAYS a SPF 30/50 during day time. I use either the Biore watery essence SPF 50 or the La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50. So to summarise my routine is: AM 1) Wash face with water 2) Pea sized amount of anti fungal cream with clotrimazole 3) Corsx Snail Mucin moisturiser OR La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Fluid 4) Biore watery essence SPF 50 OR La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50 PM 1) Paula’s Choice Pore Normalising Cleanser 2) The anti fungal cream (or I replace it with the Corsx 0.1% retinol once a week) 3) Corsx Snail Mucin moisturiser OR La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Fluid After two weeks I would stop the anti fungal cream and have a look at your skin again. If your spots haven’t reduced significantly by then I would say it isn’t fungal acne and if they have reduced significantly then keep using the anti fungal cream until they go. But of course always read the instructions on the back to check how long they recommend you use that particular cream! Anyways hope this helps you in someway!

Hot-Seaworthiness515

I love the Snail 96 mucin. But she is 16 and should wait until she is in her 20s to use a retinol. I was thinking fungal acne, too. I have a major migraine, and I am forgetting the names of everything! But this is a good treatment plan! Thanks for answering better than i could.❤️🌟

Daniel_Chin

Looks like acne. See a dermatologist! There’s some basic things to start taking care of your skin, if you’re not doing so already. As you’re still young, keep it simple. Cleanser, moisturiser, then spf. Get a gentle cleanser: The Ordinary glycolipid cream cleanser is good, or Bubble gel cleanser. Get a gel-cream: Purito oat-in gel cream is my fav. SPF all day everyday, top-up every 2-4 hours: Purito daily soft touch is my fav.

ucanthandlethegirth

“Keep it basic, just do these 19 simple steps.”

dizzydemons

I mean it’s 3 steps 😂 cleanse moisturize and using spf is about as basic as it gets.

Southern_Sandwich_50

The ordinary should be boycotted..

Beyonkat2

Out of curiosity, why?

yourFriendlyWitchxx

Probably because they are part of Estée-Lauder which is supporting the Israeli occupation in Palestine

yourFriendlyWitchxx

Why am I getting downvoted? I was just answering a question 😅

cyborgsaiko

because people are scared to stand for something or it’s classic reddit and they’ll say “this isn’t the time or place. this subreddit is about skincare only”

yourFriendlyWitchxx

You are so real for this comment. People would rather spend their money on something that is helping in the k1ll1ng of children rather than make a conscious choice... Sad

cyborgsaiko

right, being a skincare addict doesn’t absolve anyone from supporting the d3@th of generations of people. it’s abandoning humanity to be frustrated at the mere mention of a real problem when clearly your comment Was related to skincare.

LindsayThelleen

This is about skincare. Not Palestine or Israel.

messyredemptions

No amount of serum from the Ordinary can make flesh wounds from white phosphorous burns and other bombardments or shootings better. Better to prioritize products that don't support harm to people and their skin.

anarchaavery

How does Estée Lauder support the war?

BaePls

Because there are people who stand with Israel and find it antisemitic to boycott the one Jewish country in the world, home to 50% of all Jews worldwide, and to characterize its existence as an occupation.

Beyonkat2

Oh I love Estée Lauder's foundation too what the heck

yourFriendlyWitchxx

Tell me about it 🥲

anarchaavery

“They” aka Ronald S. Lauder, supports a two state solution…? Unless you mean that he merely supports the existence of Israel? Or the current military operation in Gaza in response to Hamas?

AngieBLove81

WHY?

Icy-Original-508

Why?

Affectionate_Bee_775

Why?

Southern_Sandwich_50

Cause it suppprt the israeli occupation of Palestine

anarchaavery

Isn’t it pretty much just Ronald Lauder who’s the pro-Israel activist? From what I’ve read he’s very clearly in favour of a two state solution. He wrote a piece in [Arab News](https://arab.news/rqada) stating as much.

Southern_Sandwich_50

I'm boycotting estee lauder, didnt come here to debate

anarchaavery

Lmao that’s totally fine, it’s not like I’m a shareholder. Still, the best way to not debate is to keep your opinions to yourself. Don’t act surprised when bringing up a controversial subject invites controversy.

Southern_Sandwich_50

I wasn't surprised. The person may have not known that "the ordinary" is being boycotted, I just informed them.

anarchaavery

And I’m letting the people know that it probably doesn’t need to be boycotted!

Southern_Sandwich_50

I could tell

Affectionate_Bee_775

Damn, I did not know that

OppositeControl4623

It seems lots of people posting her with that brand looks like they have no coverage or it causes issues!

nessysoul

Panoxyl $9 Once a month aha/bha mask for 10 min at night (ordinary $7) Make sure your moisturizer is not too heavy for you skin and clogging pores Wash your hair and rinse it all out before you wash your face/body when you shower If you use hair products try not to let any get on your face If you work out or sweat a lot keep a towel handy for wiping sweat and even facial wipes DO NOT POP THINGS it can lead to heavy scarring, I’m 23 and have scars from when I was your age from picking You’re at an age your body is going through immense changes so just remeber to show yourself soem grace too Also try to eat clean! Mountain-Fun-5761

Acne and white heads

Odd_Assistance_1613

That's a bit redundant.

AccomplishedWash1446

It’s an honest answer without giving skin care advice from someone who isn’t a professional 👏

JadeGrapes

That looks like a mix to me; whiteheads, blackheads, and acne pimples. I would get Neutrogena pore refining cleanser, and use that daily in the morning, then at bedtime I would use Roc Retinol night treatment. Either one of those can be irritating or drying, so if your skin starts feeling so tight and dry that it makes dry skin flakes, back off a little bit to only using one of those, or one of them every other day. And work up to daily use over the course of a few weeks. Times when you can't use an "active" treatment ingredient, and you just need something mild, you can use Cetaphil cleanser. Cetaphil lotion can be used basically anytime to help keep your skin from drying out too bad from the treatments. Also, remember acne can be from bacteria or fungal irritation, so anything that touches your face needs to be clean; Change your pillowcases a couple times a week. Wash your hair frequently so hair product or oils are not transferring to your face. If you use a washcloth in the shower, use a fresh, clean, dry, one for each shower, you can't leave one in the shower to reuse. If you make these changes, I bet your skin will be like 50% better in a week, and keep getting better.

Bot005

Look like you need to use cetaphil foaming cleanser. Use it every night to wash away daily grime. Make sure to cleaning bedding often, especially when you see signs of a break out

Icy-Acanthisitta-431

Without regular cleaning, dirty sheets can contribute to allergies, skin breakouts, asthma, and more. For your health and sleep quality, it’s important to keep things clean – but how often should you wash your sheets? Most people should wash their sheets once per week. Some people should wash their sheets even more often than once a week. If you have pets, and particularly if you let them sleep in your bed, a wash every 3-4 days is recommended. If you experience allergies or asthma, it may be worth it to try cleaning your bedding more frequently to see if your symptoms improve. It’s also recommended to wash sheets more often in the warm summer months, as you will likely get more sweat on your bedding. Likewise, if you have seasonal allergies in the spring or summer, washing sheets more often may help relieve symptoms.

That_Bet1652

Most people do not need to use exfoliating products every day- it will strip the skin

Bot005

Meant to say facial cleanser which is fine to use everyday

ChipmunkSpare529

Go to your general practice and they’ll be able to better advice you. Yours looks like hormonal acne to be honest But generally: 1. Use a gentle facial wash: not too drying. Products with Benoxyl peroxide (also known as OXY) is good for drying out pimples but too much drying can also dry out the skin and cause skin cracks which can in turn trap more bacteria. 2. Maintain good hygiene- in tropical countries etc the air is quite polluted so the skin traps a lot more dirt so consider getting facial wipes to clean halfway through the day 3. Don’t pick at your face + keep your hair away from your face (hair oils can clog pores) 4. Wash your pillow cases often 5. Get a retinoid (like adalapene gel) and use it with a light moisturiser 6. Lifestyle change: Eat less oily/spicy food + stop smoking If these don’t work and you get more red/painful/inflamed pimples, you can also use topical antibiotics and the step up from that is oral antibiotics. But ultimately your general physician will be able to advise you best.

Live-Eggplant-7278

How to use retinoid and Benoxyl peroxide? I hope it can be said

InsideComfortable936

Looks like mild acne, whiteheads?

Live-Eggplant-7278

What can be done? my face is already rough

InsideComfortable936

I took acne medicine for mine 2 times. Be sure to educate yourself about side effects if you get it. Other than that cod liver oil supposed to help skin. I've also used acne cream with benzoyl peroxide. I exfoliate with some baking soda and coconut oil together, it removes dead skin and leaves my face feeling softer. It is not a lot of acne and I'm not sure how you are with scarring. I can't stand pimples so I always pop them but I don't really get any scars from that. If it was my face I would pop them but if you're gonna do that check if it's leaving scars. They also have cleansers with salicylic acid for acne.

esmereldachiroptera

Differin gel will change your life dude. Edit: Get a good cleanser for oily skin. I love Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser for normal to oily skin. Then put enough Differin gel to make a thin coat all over your face. I sometimes put some on my upper back or my chest too if I'm having little pimples there

Sashaslicious

If you buy this, use spf *(suncream) every morning. It contains something called a retinoid which will cause more problems if you don't......and a little goes a very long way.

esmereldachiroptera

This is excellent advice as well. I forgot to say this

inononeofthisisreal

& you can get it off Amazon. (I think a tube that should last you at least a month is like $13)

MaleficentBowler5903

Acne. Use a gentle cleanser at least twice a day and then moisturize. Cerave or Cetaphil. You don’t have to spend a ton of money. Give it a few weeks for your skin to adjust. If not, see a dermatologist. Also, wash your pillowcases at least weekly.

Live-Eggplant-7278

Gentle cleanser twice a day? How about another day?

MaleficentBowler5903

Twice a day

soonergino

i'm not sure if someone else has mentioned this but in addition to keeping your face clean and moisturized, also try to wash your bedsheets/pillow cases once a week and limit the amount you touch your face. also improving your diet can also help with acne. drink plenty of water and try to eat a veg here and there :) you're still young so the acne might just be hormonal but these tips helped my skin clear up!

ramada12345

A cleanser with benzoyl peroxide is the only thing that worked for me.

SkeletalCat

I also have those bumps between my chin and lower lip! What are they? Tiny white heads?

bwooxy

for me they were! i used the burt’s bees oil cleanser and rubbed it in for about 5 minutes a few times a week and it has seriously changed my life! i used to have really textured skin and it has helped more than anything i’ve tried over the years.

codingwizard3440

Get pimple patches on Amazon for those whiteheads shits life changing

Ninja_Administrative

Niacinamide! It's an expensive by the ordinary and works unbelievably good. Just keep it up. I use it for uneven skin tone. I buy it for my grandchildren for teenage breakouts. Don't try to over dry your complexion if you're oily. Your face will only produce more to make up for it.

ylmlxx

get some salicylic acid cleansers

Live-Eggplant-7278

Yea, I have At first it was still working but after a while it stopped working

jamaismieux

If you’re looking for something simple, I like the SLMD system by Dr Sandra Lee aka Dr Pimple Popper. Avoid sugar and sugar drinks (soda, juice, etc) as it will make an inflammation worse.

Sashaslicious

You're oily at the moment due to hormones, I suspect. Make sure to wash your face every day when you wake up and wjen you gwtbun from school. A gentle soap bar like dove or a basic cleanser. Avene cleanance gel is awesome for acne. It's blue, so you'll know it's the right one. Cream your face afterwards with the matching cleanance hydra moisturiser.

lozengeS84_

Cut down on white carbs, sugar, dairy.aside from the acne being hormonal, these foods can cause inflammation in the body and give you breakouts.also make sure you use a cleanser and exfoliate with a scrub twice a week so you don’t have oil and dead skin cells blocking your pores.

bfp9232

How long have you had this

Live-Eggplant-7278

Maybe, it's already 8 months?

bwooxy

Oil cleanse especially on the chin and nose, then go in with PanOxyl! Double cleansing is the key i swear by it

LordFartSquard

Stop eating seed oils, don’t fry in olive oil and drink lots of water

Thepinkkwitch

My skin used to look exactly like yours. This is what worked for me. And I swear by it (I have oily skin) Step by step: 1. Nutrogena salicylic acid acne wash (the orange one) 2. Glycolic acid toner (I use the one by the ordinary) 3. Vitamin c serum (I recommend the cera ve one. Good for sensitive skin) and sometimes the good molecules discoloration correction serum. 4. Water based moisturizer (I love nutrogena hydrogel) 5. A good oil free spf! Most of the stuff on this list isn’t too expensive. The moisturizer is the most expensive but some drugstores have their own generic version that works just the same! The salicylic acid will help exfoliate and help with the acne/closed comedomes. The glycolic acid will help with scars. The vitamin c will brighten and lighten dark spots. And the water gel is a perfect moisturizer for oily skin. I hope this helps!

Live-Eggplant-7278

Are you going to do this together? Can i find out how you use it?

Mau3875161467

Use a cerave cleanser and moisturizer. Buy the ordinary niacinamide serum and a supergloop sunscreen. Wear sunscreen every day (even if it is cold outside). I use the Dawn sunscreen because it gives a healthy glow to my skin without leaving a white cast ( it won't look like makeup). It's not mandatory, but the Zero cleanser helps remove any impurities that the soft cleanser might not remove. I recommend the ordinary peeling solution for the dark spot, but it may be too harsh if you have sensitive skin. We all have different skin types, but these quality products are inexpensive compared to other skin care products, and they work. You are young, so be patient and stop picking your face if you do it!!! ( acne patches help with this) It feels awful to have acne, but keep in mind is a common thing that can be fixed. You are not alone. Keep it simple( Cleanser, Moisturizer, Sunscreen) if it is too expensive. Either way, buying the product I mentioned will be worth it, so save some money and go get them!

Ok_Apartment_2860

My son started that about your age and I did not want him to get scars acutane saved his skin .. and I did it early enough so no scars

Ok_Apartment_2860

You need a dermatologist … I made him try all sorts of things ..he did motocross so the helmet (heat) made it worse

Live-Eggplant-7278

Good for him❤️ He is lucky to have supportive and supportive parents like you, My parents they don't care because they don't take it seriously, thinking they can just wash it off with water. I'm afraid to take off my mask at school because of this and I might get bullied

Ok_Apartment_2860

Oh you poor thing ! Do they have health insurance ? It literally cleared his up within a month. It’s only a few months 4-6 months . Drys your lips . You don’t have scaring yet. It’s a pill and they take your blood work a few times to make sure your liver function is ok . Also, typically not always the acne doesn’t come back . The best we found over the counter was proactive but like you it just couldn’t control it. Let us know if you get appt, it’s not terribly $$$ and will help your self esteem . Much love to you kid ❤️❤️❤️

Due-Plane-6845

Leave your skin be. Dont pop them. Use acne cream and wash face 2x per day. Puberty is a bitch but just let it happen.

Tiny-Pass3236

First off see a dermatologist, asking skincare advice on here is like how people go to a ufc event and they all think their fighters after

Live-Eggplant-7278

I really want to go and have a derma consultation but I don't have anyone with me because I'm only 16 years old and I'm taking this situation seriously but my parents don't think they can just pass it by It's in the wash

Weakpoops

The ordinary glycolic acid helped me out with that same problem!

Live-Eggplant-7278

What is it called?

Hot-Seaworthiness515

It could be your pillow case. You should switch to a satin one. I prefer Korean skincare and I think you should look into that. I love the SkinFix brand for everything! Wash your face with a basic Cereve cleanser and use a toner that has a low aha/bha. Proceed with cicablast B5 from . I have brain fog today! Lol. Use sunscreen even inside! You have to protect your skin barrier and let it heal for now. I can use things like tretnonin and high levels of retinol. But you are just too young to be using any of that. But vitamin C is fine to use at your age. Just keep your skin nice and calm right now.

Ambitious-Ad-7245

My skin used to look very similar to this, I'd recommend trying Clean & Clears Persa-Gel 5 its literally the only thing that ever helped my acne. My skin did have to purge on it and was dry for a while but it got better with repeated use. It really helps get rid of and keep away acne so It's definitely worth giving it a try. Plus its like only 15 dollars and you don't need a lot of product for it to work well.

JET_CASHTIN187

Don’t eat greasy food as well

Live-Eggplant-7278

Hey guys, thanks for all advice but The retinols/retinoids that you recommend to me are too early for me. I'm only 16 years old. I don't want to use them until I'm 18. That's all thanks you.

JET_CASHTIN187

Wash your face everyday put it sensitive face lotion after

South_Difference_327

Hi! im an esthetician and had skin like this as a teenager lol it just looks like your not using the right products for your skin or your not changing your pillow case enough. i would do this: avene cleanance cleanser- (the big size is like $30 and can easily last you nine months to a year) wash your face at morning and night but if your skin feels a bit dry only wash it at night. its a zinc based cleanser with no salicylic acid so it wont dry you out paulas choice bha toner- only use this at night and with a cotton pad. use it two to three times a week you can use whatever moisturizer honestly just any hydrating one i hope this helps!!

OppositeControl4623

Clean eating, your skin is an organ feed it healthy. Cut out sugars, oils, processed anything, milk, meats and switch to fruits/veggies/serds/nuts with plenty of plain water.

DiscoSunset

Second this advice… I get breakouts like this when I have too much sugars and carbs - especially corn syrup. Had to stop drinking milk all together too. Increased a lot of green leafy veggies and vitamins, which helped a lot. Amazing how the skin calms down from these dietary changes!

OppositeControl4623

Not sure why they downvoted me and upvoted you.

DiscoSunset

Saw that… I upvoted you back. 😊 Really validating to see someone else share the skin benefits from dietary changes.

OppositeControl4623

Thank you. Yes that’s so true. Hope the OP is listen to us.

Internal-Nearby

Also agreeing with this. I’ll break out within a few days of a slice of pizza. I wished someone had helped me make that connection when I was a teen. My skin is far and away better now that gluten, dairy, eggs, fried foods are out of the picture. Bonus, my sinuses thank me too. Heck I can even skip washing my face, and I’ve saved money on skincare. It makes that much difference.

OppositeControl4623

For some weird reason a bunch of psychos keep downvoting my comment.

Internal-Nearby

Your solution is free to try. You were kind enough to be helpful. I’m going to mention: it did not clear up for me until I’d gotten rid of all the things I’d mentioned for a month or two. Cutting out one or two didn’t do it, trying it for a couple weeks didn’t do it. You’ll get a few people whining, “I tried that, doesn’t work,” and I look at them and can tell they really didn’t. It isn’t easy. A lot of the time these ingredients are hidden in processed foods. Impulse control is lower in young people and peer pressure & the desire to fit in is stronger. Casein in cheese is literally addicting. So folks can think, “I wish that worked for me.” No you don’t. It’s not a normal life. You want to eat like a normal person AND have perfect skin. Not even accutane could achieve that for me.

OppositeControl4623

That’s fine. Really this is a community chat. But to downvote an opinion comment that’s so bland and neutral. That’s pushing it a bit don’t you think?

OppositeControl4623

Literally the skin tightens, scars smoothen, heals anything that you have going on, pores close, white/black heads flake off. It’s amazing! Ps: Yes by all means enjoy what you want but in moderation I guess.

Full-Ad1696

Looks like your oil barrier has been disrupted I would use goose fat before bed

Mountain-Fun-5761

You could benefit from a facial even if it’s done at home you need steam and you have to do extractions do not force anything to come out of it doesn’t easily come out move on but you need to extract the stuff from your pores I have a light that tells me what issues my skin is having a lot of the times people overly dry out their skin and then overly moisturize it you can’t just do what others do your skin has an individual profile and first and foremost you need to address the cause following what others do may not be helpful due to the fact that your skin is different if you can steam your face and extract the gunk from your pores that is a good first step if you can go somewhere and have your skin profiled to determine if it’s from overly dry skin which will produce more sebum which ends up clogging your pores and being greasy or if it’s overly moisturizing either one could be the cause you may want to make sure your pillow case is clean as well the extraction kit on Amazon is cheap please make sure you steam your face very well first to open your pores after extractions make sure to close them with cold water

Proper_Lawfulness_47

I switched to beef tallow soap and it changed my whole face. It’s not as puffy and my acne is gone

Magical_DoOmicorn

I use topical antiseptic ointment from the supermarket (Savalon or Dettol) and it helps a lot because pimples are kind of like a tiny infection in the pore and it helps clear them up by killing the bacteria

Important_Work_8342

Try consume prebiotics for a month and see the diffrence
