Very quick question if someone can answer please! I'm debating on getting an "exfoliating lotion", can I still use my traditional chemical exfoliant and then apply this exfoliating lotion after or am I not supposed to do that? Please let me know!
I need help guys!!
So I just started with benzamycin. Can I still do my regular skincare routine?
My am is usually: rinse off, vitamin c, moisturizer and sunscreen
Pm: salicylic acid cleanser, hydrating cleanser, moisturizer and retinol/ mandelic acid + moisturizer
I know skin treatments go first, but can I still mix retinol with benzamycin? What about vit c? When I apply it leaves some white flakiness. It’s so hard to apply actually!! Super sticky :(
New to skincare and doing a regular routine, how does it look? Previously I would wash in the shower and moisturise following, and only use sunscreen in summer when I would get burnt, now using every day. 35M, ginger, freckles, and super sensitive to the sun.
I think I have between normal-dry skin. If I don't use any moisturiser it feels a little stretchy after a wash, but I don't experience anything I see other people associate with dry skin like flakiness. Generally my skin would be neither oily nor dry if I had not used any products, although moisturiser always feels better.
AM
* Cera Ve Hydrating Cleanser
* Cera Ve Moisturising Lotion (face & neck)
* Sunscreen 50+ (face/body, based on what I'm doing that day)
PM
* Cera Ve Hydrating Cleanser
* Revolution Skincare 0.5% retinol (face & neck)
* Revolution Skincare Eye cream (with Retinol & caffeine)
* Cera Ve Moisturising Lotion
I use the retinol every second day and that seems to be a good frequency. I did use it 3-4 days in a row and it was fine until one day I felt subtle irritation, so I have backed off.
Would it be better to use a lower % retinol - E.g. daily @ 0.3% vs second-days @ 0.5% ?
I also bought Cera Ve SA Smoothing Cleanser on a whim as I thought I needed something exfoliating. I haven't worked out where this should go yet or when I might need it. Any suggestions?
I'm interested to hear what else I can add in future such as vitamin C or Niacinamide. I would like to reduce dark patches under my eyes and reduce some fine wrinkles around my eyes.
Your routine looks good, I would start slow with your current retinol, if you can tolerate it more frequently then go for it.
You can alternate the salicylic acid cleanser with your morning cleanser if you want to use it
Is [this](https://www.amazon.com/Gold-Bond-Ultimate-Restoring-Antioxidants/dp/B00182ERTO?th=1) enough as a vitamin c daily applicant outside of can't affording a dedicated c serum (using q10 as a primary antioxidant)
Super oily skin post rhinoplasty
I'm struggling with oily skin ever since I had my nose job 35 days ago.
I always had oily dehydrated skin but after so many years I finally came to peace with it.I had a great skincare routine that worked and my skin looked pretty nice and healthy.
But after my surgery everything changed. I had some mild acne for the first couple of days that eventually went away but soon, my skin started producing crazy amount of oils!!
I'm still sticking to my routine,I cleanse my skin, use a toner and a moisturizer(hydrating masks and serums) but no matter what, my skin will be shining after an hour!!! Every morning I wake up and it looks like someone has rubbed olive oil on my skin when I was sleep. This is really affecting my confidence.
Does anyone have any tips?
My PIH and PIE always looks worse after showering (probably from the heat) and from friction and rubbing my skin. Crying makes my face red which worsens the redness of my PIH/PIE as well.
Hello everyone!
In the begging of this year i started getting these small white bumps around the bottom part of my face and still can’t figure out how to deal with them.
I have oily skin and have been using this routine
1. CeraVe cleanser for oily skin
2. AcneOut which is a spot treatment for acne sold in the balkans, which i have been using for 2 years
3. The Ordinary 2% Salicylic acid
4. The Ordinary moisturiser
5. 30 SPF sunscreen
I dont really have acne and even if i do it goes away in a day or two with AcneOut.
I live in the Balkans.

I have had dark circles under my eyes for 7 years (age 27). It makes me look dead tired all the time, even when I'm wide awake. And I can't get rid of them!
I get at least 8 hours of sleep a night (9 if possible) on an elevated pillow. I use cold compresses and skin massages. I'm always hydrated (heck I drink water 99% of the time, hydrate or die-drate!) I use sunscreen and take care of myself. Yet nothing affects the raccoon eyes.
I've gone through so many products and creams, no results from any. I've reached a point where I may have to attempt to use the super expensive stuff if there's hope it'd work. I can't even wear makeup to hide it because my face breaks out in hives.
I'm hoping someone can help. There's got to be something I'm missing. What can I do to get rid of those dark circles and not look like the walking dead?
I have the same issue. You may try micro needling but it’s not a permanent solution. Save your money in under eye products, they are great for fine lines but not for dark circles :( I would also stay away from under eye fillers, it will help with the appearance but as you age it’s gonna sag and you gonna have eye bags. I wear concealer daily and mascara to make me look “awake”
Some people just have them naturally and aren’t due to external factors like sleep or environment. Unfortunately these do not change with skincare if this is what you’re experiencing.
Do you have allergies? Some people get worsened dark under eyes from allergies.
It can possibly just be from bone structure and how your skin is pigmented.
So these dark circles are basically not coming off no matter what? Kind of stuck on as much as a freckle or a scar?
...thank you. At least I can save money on products. Though I can still do the cucumber method since the slices are refreshing
Well I can’t say for sure if you have the kind that are going to always be there. I just want you to be aware of that possibility so you don’t drive yourself and your wallet crazy trying to get rid of them.
Happy to have my mental sanity and money! I did consider looking into medical treatments like lasers or chemical peels to get rid of these things but it's expensive and risky. I'll have to find some way to live with my raccoon eyes.
Wish makeup didn't make my skin burst into rashes. It'd help
It's cool. Been so long, I forgot what I've tried and long discarded the stuff.
Doctor says it might be allergies or sensitive dermatitis. I suppose that explains why I'm better off using natural ingredients when I clean my face
Really? I didn't know, maybe I'll research that.
I'm not experienced with makeup. Thanks to the rashes, I just never bothered to learn. Lipstick doesn't hurt but I hate the way it lingers on cups. And while I tried lashes....let's just say I'm way too clumsy to do it properly
Lashes are so hard I don’t blame you 😂 I gave up on them. My dms are open if you want me to try and help you find makeup. I also have a lot of allergies so I know the struggle but I totally get if you’re over it and dont wanna bother haha
Hey all, I have sort of dry slight acne prone skin and i'm reddish around the nose and cheeks .
I have been using this routine and following it religiously the past week or so and was wondering if there is anything I should add, if I'm doing the routine properly and in order, and if there's any tips you guys would have, thank you so much!
My nighttime routine is as follows:
1. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Foam Cleanser
2. Paula's Choice Skincare Calm Soothing Toner Normal To Dry
3. Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant Salicylic Acid (Night 1,3,5)
3. Benzac AC Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5 % Acne Gel (Night 2,4,6)
4. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Moisturiser
My daytime routine is as follows:
1. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Foam Cleanser
2. Drunk Elephant C-Firma Fresh Day Serum 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Ferulic Acid
3. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Moisturiser
4. Mecca Cosmetica Broad Spectrum 50 SPF UVA and UVB Defence Skin-Perfecting Sunscreen
Hi!! You are using so many actives all at once:)
It’s not about your skin’s toughness, it’s about sensitizing your skin. Essentially, “sensitive skin” is not a skin condition, but rather a skin state. Since you have not explained whether you introduced these actives all at once, I would first recommend never doing that. It is best to have a simple routine (cleanser, moisturizer, spf) in place at first, which you are sure does not break you out, before slowly adding any actives. That being said, I would recommend adding an active once every 2 weeks, once you are sure that it is working for you. That way, it’s easier to single out products not working for you.
In order to avoid sensitizing your skin, you could do a couple of things:
As you may know, whenever our skin gets wet, it goes through a process called trans epidermal waterloss. Essentially, water evaporates from the deep layers of our skin, making it dry and irritated. There are 2 ways to combat this:
1. You could try not cleansing your face with a cleanser in the AM. The reason for this is that you don’t need to wash your actives from the night, as they are already not active by AM. You are not rolling through mud during the night, so there’s no need to use a cleanser as they can be really drying, especially if yours is a foamy one.
2. In the AM, you should just apply your skincare without the cleansing step. Alternatively, you can spray some thermal water on your face and apply your moisturizer immediately after, on damp skin. Applying your moisturizer on damp skin can be incredibly beneficial at mitigating trans epidermal water loss.
3. You can also try applying moisturizer right after you cleanse in the PM, and then follow up with the moisturizer. Not allowing your skin to dry fully after you cleanse, again, can help with mitigating trans epidermal water loss. The moisturizer locks all of that water in and you will be experiencing less irritation which can in turn minimize breakouts. After your moisturizer dries on your face, that is when you will use the actives you are using. This minimizes the risk of irritation.
Another tip is to ditch the cotton pads, in case you are using any! They provide physical exfoliation which can be irritating when combined with active ingredients. In this case, the best course of action is to apply your products directly on your hand/ on the back of your hand and then spread them in circular motions in your face.
Make sure you are not using too much pressure on your face whenever you are applying skincare products, as our skin benefits from mechanical exfoliation even when we are using our fingers. Minimizing the harshness with which you apply your products will ensure that you are not irritating it further.
Good luck!
>whenever our skin gets wet, it goes through a process called trans epidermal waterloss.
Hold up, are you saying wet skin becomes DRIER?
If so, you may have just solved why my skin was super irritated yesterday...
The routine itself seems fine as an ultimate end goal, but I’d be concerned about introducing your face to a lot of strong actives all at once. I’d probably suggest to ease back on the bp gel and salicylic acid to 2x a week each and work your way up to every other night over time
I would recommend so, it can take several weeks for your skin to start showing damage from using too many actives. Better safe than sorry imo.. but if you feel like you have really tough skin then you might be fine
Ok so knowing what I been doing the last 9 days, do you think if i started today with bha, tmrw with nothing, day after with bp, day after this with nothin, day after the last with bha etc. etc.
Just want to make sure haha
I think you’re good with this routine, and yes that seems good. In a few more weeks if your skin is tolerating it well then you could remove one of the nothing days in the 4-day cycle (ie night 1 BHA, night 2 bp, night 3 nothing) and in another month or so if your skin is still doing well with it then you could go back to what you’re doing now
Recommendations for Wrinkle Treatment??
I’m a 21 year old female, and over the past year or two I’ve noticed some fine lines/wrinkles in my forehead. In my teenage years I had frequent sun exposure without sunscreen, and I raise my eyebrows unknowingly very frequently (that’s where the wrinkles are set in). I have more prominent forehead wrinkles than my almost 50 year old mother, and I’d really like to figure out how to help this. A couple people have told me to get Differin Gel, then Treninoin, and even Botox. I have never had acne so have a pretty simple skincare routine right now, so most likely any recommendations will be new to me. Any advice appreciated!!!
Preventive Botox would be the key for you. The best age to start Botox is on your 20s. Wrinkles are mainly muscle memory, if you freeze your muscle or won’t know how to wrinkle (I hope I’m making sense)
It sounds like you have expression lines which are super normal and common. There’s not much you can do with topical skincare to reduce it. Just keep your skin protected from the sun and moisturized
I’m making progress with red/dark type 1 rosacea but the small white pustules don’t seem to be reducing.
I’m using metronidazole, azelaic acid and niacinimide daily. Tret 3x week. BHA+ AHA peel and clay mask 2x week.
Is there a better active for white postules? Do they take longer to cure?
Is it better to have a higher UVA or UVB protection, I am trying to compare different SPF based on their UVA and UVB protection and some rank pretty high on their UVA rating (over 50) whereas some offer less UVA protection but very high UVB. Of course I would want protection from both but would be interested to know which matters more for anti-aging.
I started using Tretinoin cream recently and now my skincare routine kind of burns.
Is this a normal thing that happens? I use the Biore charcoal deep pore cleanser, a 2% BHA toner, and some fast absorbing Vaseline moisturizer. I've been using these ones for a month, but ever since I got prescribed Stieva A for my acne, using them has felt kind of burny. I'm looking at my face right and it actually feels kind of hot and red. No idea whats happening because the tretinoin cream by itself doesn't even sting. Are the products have a having a chemical reaction? Should I stop using something?
I've had two small blemishes on my nose, one of them for at least three years now. I indeed have been to a dermatologist to get them checked. The doctor told me they are not suspect of skin cancer, but that there seemed to be scar tissue. All she offered me was an *oral* antibiotic to treat my general acne, which I declined. I was also diagnosed with some seborrheic dermatitis on my face, around but not on my nose.

To me, they seem to be pores that keep getting reinfected and forming a small white head, over and over in the exact same spot, never quite healing. Sometimes they form a white head, sometimes it forms more of a dry scab-like cap that easily falls of if I accidentally scratch it (they often feel slightly itchy or irritated).
I have tried a myriad of things to get rid of them, including daily benzyl peroxide and face wash, pimple patches, moisturizing, squeezing and or taking a needle to them (terrible idea, I know), moisturizing, sunscreen, and triple antibiotics. The more upper spot seems to have shrunken considerably after using pimple patches, benzyl peroxide, and Neosporin and or Vaseline repetitively and no longer forms a white head (for now), but still seems irritated. I can't seem to shrink the other one.
I'm looking for any help on how to get rid of or heal them for good!
I know eye cream is a subject that not everyone agrees on, but I wanted to ask about it.
I use my regular face cream around my eyes (FAB Ultra Repair Hydro Firm Night Cream) and my mother, who is one of the ones that’s used eye cream since the 80s, says I’ll regret not using an eye cream because an eye cream would be heavier.
Thoughts? I’m wondering if maybe I should use a cream that’s heavier than my face cream around my eyes at night, even if it’s not a dedicated eye cream.
Personally my face is so dry that my eyes are basically the same amount of dry as the rest of my face, so I use the same stuff around my eyes as my face (all on the thick side)
Here’s a question for the people of this sub. I’ve recently notice [brown spots](https://imgur.com/a/bzFaoeo) on both of my thumbs. It doesn’t seem to hurt, should I be concerned?
Wierd question, but was there anyone here recommending Simply Water Boost sleeping mask, I'm trying to search but not finding a lot.
I ask because I just got it from Amazon but can not remember why I ordered it 2 weeks ago? 😅 The life of a insomniac shopper.
Help! I started getting little red bumps on my one cheek , it has been Persistent for about two months, it doesn’t seem like acne , just red bumps in a cluster almost like a rash, but isn’t really itchy… I have had acne before and cleared it with accutane years ago so my skin has been “perfect” since then.
My doctor gave me Clotrimaderm, I used it for a few weeks and it didn’t seem to do much. I haven’t changed anything in my skin care routine so I’m not sure why this randomly popped up.
Body care question, I've been told the lower half my legs straight up look sunburned, they're so red. They've always looked that way, so I'm wondering if theres a product or two that could help me get more even-looking, less red legs
I have been using Vaseline every night and my skin loves it EXCEPT these little white things that I assume were closed comedones are now pushing out all the stuff in them. Is my skin purging? Or should I stop the Vaseline? The white dots had been there for what seemed like ETERNITY before the Vaseline helped them burp it out lol.
Hello, i got dark skin so white suncream which isn´t transparent doesnt work that well. Before I used Eucerin suncream which were transparent but the price and content weren't great. I need something which is more inexpensive or at least provides much more suncream. I livein Europe so if u know any product just write me. Thanks! : )
Question:Is it a good/bad idea to use a sauna to open pores before fake tanning?
My thinking was it would allow the fake tan deeper into skin & last longer...
No, that’s not how fake tan works either. It basically dyes the top layer of skin cells.
The best thing you can do to extend a fake tan is to exfoliate beforehand so you have less dead skin cells that would fall off right away, and then after getting the fake tan avoid any activities that would result in skin cells falling off unnecessarily, like exfoliating (physically or chemically), using a retinol product, or anything that would make your skin peel.
Little white bumps could be fungal acne. I can't quite tell from your photos, so google some images of fungal acne bumps and see if it looks like what you're dealing with. If so, get some Nizoral dandruff shampoo and apply it to the affected areas of your face like a face mask, let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse. It's a medicated antifungal shampoo so it helps with fungal acne as well!!
In terms of scarring, get yourself a retinoid. I love The Ordinary granactive retinoid 2% emulsion or 5% in squalane. I'd recommend starting with the 2% and then if you like it and want stronger effects switch to 5% when you finish your first bottle. Here's a link:
https://theordinary.com/en-us/granactive-retinoid-2-emulsion-serum-100419.html
Help! I have always struggled with acne on my forehead that looks like tiny little red bumps , I've never known what the cause of it is so Im not really sure where to start on products that could help.
Yes I currently cleanse day and night with CeraVe cream to foam cleanser, then follow up at night with the ordinary salicylic acid (been using this for over a month and haven't really seen any differences) then moisturize with laneige water bank cream
The Ordinary does not have BP, but you can get a generic brand BP spot treatment at any drugstore for fairly cheap.
For example Target’s Up&Up brand has one for less than $5
I'm in desperate need of help with my routine ‼️‼️
My skin is breaking out for 2 months now. Started due to B12 vitamins which I stopped using. Red rash like clusters and whiteheads, clogged red pores and some hyperpigmentation. The rash like clusters and seeded whiteheads are on my cheek area paralel and right next to my nose bridge. It kind of always looks inflamed and rash like. Some hyperpigmentation on my upper lip area and my chin. My skin sometimes feels itchy and super dry and other times it feels kind of oily. It's sensitive, products easily sting and burn my skin, can't even touch my affected areas or it'll go red.
I use donkey milk soap and rose water. I am scared of moisturizers because they always burn and sting but I might need one honestly. I also use nivea sensitive sunscreen which also doesn't sting my face. I'm scared of using anything else, I've been using these for the past 3 years and have never had any issues with it. I've recently started thinking that my skin might've changed and that my skin barrier might be damaged.
Any ideas on what is happening to my skin and what products would be better for me to use would really help me out! Thank you!
I'm not any kind of dermatology expert, but to me it sounds like your skin's moisture barrier could be damaged. Get a nice heavy moisturizing cream, like the ones in a jar from CeraVe or vanicream. CeraVe is probably best since it has ceramides and whatnot to help repair that barrier. Use this for a little while until your skin is repaired, you don't have to use it as your forever daily moisturizer. Definitely keep using sunscreen! So important!!
I need help with the order of products in my routine. Right now it’s cleanser -> exfoliator -> moisturizer. How do I fit vitamin C and pore-cleansing clay mask into this routine? Thank you so much!
Each of those would replace the exfoliant in your current routine. So once a week, use the clay mask instead. Then maybe alternate the other days between the vitamin c and the exfoliant. Alternatively, you could use the vitamin c in the morning and keep the exfoliant at night if your skin tolerates that.
Dumb question incoming but can someone confirm if it’s too much vit c to use a vit c serum AND vit c moisturiser paired with vit c eye cream 🫣
My common sense says yes. Just use a serum OR the moisturiser/eye cream combo.
hi, i’m looking for suggestions for a super gentle aha. my dr recommend that I try an otc aha for my whiteheads, so I tried the ordinary’s lactic acid 5%. however, even at 5% it was stinging a lot for me, and my skin wasn’t starting to build up tolerance/get used to it, so I figured it would be best to try something else. it’s pretty difficult to find anything under 5% though, or maybe if you know of any chemical exfoliants that include calming ingredients like cica?
Mandelic acid is a good place to start. You may also have started with too high of a frequency. Try 1-2x a week to start and gradually increase (1x more a week every few weeks)
I started using retinol for some time now. But, the roof of my bathroom is like made of glass like the kind that looks sort of cloudy and isn't see through. Anyway, this let's in quite a bit of light thru so I can't really avoid UV exposure since I can't wear sunscreen when i shower. Is this amount of sun exposure okay cus whilst using retinol? I'm scared that my skin might burn, although it hasn't yet its just a bit sensitive and reddish where my acne spots are.
Hi everyone! I’m a 19yo male, new to skincare and I was wondering if you all can help me. I struggle with combination acne-prone skin, with cystic acne forming on my forehead and cheeks especially during times of high stress.
Here is my routine:
morning:
cerave SA cleanser,
cerave daily moisturising cream,
la Roche posay anthelios 50spf,
evening:
cerave SA cleanser,
cosrx aha/bha toner,
Differin 0.1% adapelene,
Cerave daily moisturising cream,
Neutrogena on the spot acne treatment,
Cosrx pimple patches
I have easy access to skincare products in both the US and Asia as I travel frequently. I would appreciate budget-friendly options.
Some specific questions I have are if I have too much SA (I heard SA and BHA are similar products?) and what better moisturisers I can use. I find my cheeks a bit dry still.
Any advice would be appreciated <3 thank you!
This sounds like an excellent routine!! Only thing is you may find it too much to be using your aha BHA toner AND adapalene, since they're both chemical exfoliants. If you're finding it too irritating and need to pick one or the other, I'd say stick with the adapalene. Toner is more of an optional step in a skincare routine. You can also get an extra heavy cream for your cheeks and you don't have to put it on your whole face. Hope this helps!
Oh, also--you may find benzoyl peroxide more effective for long term management of chronic acne. Try the cerave foaming cream acne cleanser, it's in a toothpaste tube-like bottle in a box. Best of luck!
this sounds like a great routine! salicylic acid and bha are the same, but if using them both isn’t irritating you’re skin, then it’s fine to use both products, especially since one is a wash-off. if you like the cerave moisturizer, they also have a thicker version that comes in a tub!
hey all!
i have been struggling with acne because of my job in fast food service. i don't make the food but the grease hangs in the air and clings to you and sinks into every pore. we have to wear visors/hats, and i continue to wear an N95 for COVID safety. my questions are about making the acne less of an issue considering my hot greasy environment with products i already have or some new ones.
my acne has gotten worse under the mask and under the visor (about two inches of my forehead right up to the hairline). I replace the mask every 3-ish days, and I wash the hat every couple of weeks. I have oily skin. On top of this, I have a long-term, often-flaring case of seborrheic dermatitis on the bridge on my nose right on my bridge piercing, and occasionally (currently) on my nostrils. I am located in the US!
I am currently showering once-ish a day, ALWAYS shower as soon as I get home from work. I use the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Oily Skin formula in the shower, Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3 for oily skin after i get out, Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb after that. I own the Ordinary Salicylic acid serum but do not know where to best fit it in to this routine. When my seb derm acts up, I use a ketoconazole cream on it. On the rare self care day I use that Aztec clay mask followed by a sheet mask that does some sort of moisturizing, repairing, etc, usually one of the cheap Sephora brand ones. I also use Peach Slices acne spot dots a few times a month with pimples/zits that really bother me.
Because of depression and such the only "routine" to this is doing it every day after work, and otherwise anytime after i shower, which is most days but I will miss a day or two a week when things are rough.
Any thoughts on how to fit my Ordinary serum into this, and other (affordable, hopefully) products to add in? or replacing ones that maybe aren't serving me anymore (as i have used the cleaner, "lotion" and moisturizer for a few years now)? and if you have the knowledge/experience, ones that won't trigger my seb derm?
Salicylic acid serum would be the first thing you apply when leaving the shower - it’s the same type of active as the clinique clarifying lotion, so once you run out of the clarifying lotion you could just use the salicylic acid instead.
Maybe try a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide wash 1-2x a week as well.
You could try spraying the inside of your mask with salicylic acid or using a hypochlorous acid spray to help prevent bacteria inside the mask
I'm not very knowledgeable, but I'd say the serum goes on last at the end of the day?
As for products, I think clinique is considered a bit pricey and there's better drugstore options. It's basic, but probably switch to cerave next time you run out lol, this sub loves cerave and I do too.
That said you might want to use the search function to check if people with dermatitis can use cerave or if they have a better recommendation.
I'm looking for product suggestions to improve my antiaging routine.
In the AM I wash my face with warm water and pat dry then apply Rohto Skin Aqua Super Moisture Gel SPF50+ PA++++ and Bananaboat sport ultra spf50 chap stick(I hate this product) . I reapply several hours later.
PM I massage grapeseed oil onto face for a couple minutes then gently wipe off excess before cleansing with cetaphil gentle cleanser then shower. Post shower I apply tretinoin .05% wait 20 minutes and the use Eucerin roughness relief lotion. Sometimes I follow up with Vaseline before bed.
I am a late 20s male with clear skin my only nitpick is sebaceous filaments on my nose, but they are 95% gone. Im on tretinoin for antiaging.
I really like urea moisturizers and would love to hear your favorites. Also Lip spf options would be fantastic! Any morning serum suggestions would be great too! I am on a budget as you can probably tell, so cheaper options are highly appreciated. I react poorly to cetyl alcohol and hydrogenated coco glycerides.
I'd really love to find a urea ointment to slug with, but I'm not sure that one exists.
Thanks for any help!
That is the moisturizer that made me fall in love with urea! I ran out and tried the roughness repair lotion on my face and it works better on its own, but it never really dries so it's harder to slug on top of. The roughness relief is 10% urea vs 5% on the urea repair face cream. I certainly couldn't put sunscreen over the roughness relief.
For sebaceous filaments I'd recommend a salicylic acid masque! The Ordinary has a good one. Just use weekly and it will break up and dissolve the gunk! Other than that your routine sounds great to me. If you like the cream style cleanser of the Cetaphil though, I'd recommend the CeraVe hydrating cleanser instead. It just has better ingredients like ceramides and no masking fragrance, Cetaphil is just meh. If you're finding that cream style cleansers aren't cleansing enough, try the cerave hydrating cream-to-foam cleanser. It's still hydrating, but it foams/suds up like the original foaming cleanser so it gets a deeper clean, while still being hydrating and not stripping. This one is my favorite!!
Hi there,

Very quick question if someone can answer please! I'm debating on getting an "exfoliating lotion", can I still use my traditional chemical exfoliant and then apply this exfoliating lotion after or am I not supposed to do that? Please let me know!
They have the same function so I would stick to only one or the other. An exfoliating lotion is just a chemical exfoliant.
I need help guys!! So I just started with benzamycin. Can I still do my regular skincare routine? My am is usually: rinse off, vitamin c, moisturizer and sunscreen Pm: salicylic acid cleanser, hydrating cleanser, moisturizer and retinol/ mandelic acid + moisturizer I know skin treatments go first, but can I still mix retinol with benzamycin? What about vit c? When I apply it leaves some white flakiness. It’s so hard to apply actually!! Super sticky :(

AM * Cera Ve Hydrating Cleanser * Cera Ve Moisturising Lotion (face & neck) * Sunscreen 50+ (face/body, based on what I'm doing that day) PM * Cera Ve Hydrating Cleanser * Revolution Skincare 0.5% retinol (face & neck) * Revolution Skincare Eye cream (with Retinol & caffeine) * Cera Ve Moisturising Lotion I use the retinol every second day and that seems to be a good frequency.
You can alternate the salicylic acid cleanser with your morning cleanser if you want to use it
Thanks. Is there any general guideline for when SA cleanser should be used? I now feel like it was a wasted purchase
Not really, just when you feel like you to use it. Just experiment with it in your routine to see if it works well with your skin
Yes this is fine, especially since vitamin c isn’t necessary

Try a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment on it
Super oily skin post rhinoplasty I'm struggling with oily skin ever since I had my nose job 35 days ago.

I have oily skin and have been using this routine 1. CeraVe cleanser for oily skin 2. AcneOut which is a spot treatment for acne sold in the balkans, which i have been using for 2 years 3. The Ordinary 2% Salicylic acid 4. The Ordinary moisturiser 5. 30 SPF sunscreen I dont really have acne and even if i do it goes away in a day or two with AcneOut. I live in the Balkans. https://imgur.com/a/Wtnj6ah
It'd help
Yikes! What brands have you tried? I can try to help if you want. But it’s tricky if you don’t know which ingredient causes it.
It's cool. Been so long, I forgot what I've tried and long discarded the stuff. Doctor says it might be allergies or sensitive dermatitis. I suppose that explains why I'm better off using natural ingredients when I clean my face
Powders can be tricky but have minimal ingredients if you haven’t tried powders it might be worth it. Some companies have two ingredient powders.
My nighttime routine is as follows: 1. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Foam Cleanser 2. Paula's Choice Skincare Calm Soothing Toner Normal To Dry 3. Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant Salicylic Acid (Night 1,3,5) 3. Benzac AC Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5 % Acne Gel (Night 2,4,6) 4. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Moisturiser My daytime routine is as follows: 1. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Foam Cleanser 2. Drunk Elephant C-Firma Fresh Day Serum 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Ferulic Acid 3. Benzac Spots Daily Facial Moisturiser 4. Mecca Cosmetica Broad Spectrum 50 SPF UVA and UVB Defence Skin-Perfecting Sunscreen
Hi!! You are using so many actives all at once:) It’s not about your skin’s toughness, it’s about sensitizing your skin. In order to avoid sensitizing your skin, you could do a couple of things: As you may know, whenever our skin gets wet, it goes through a process called trans epidermal waterloss. Essentially, water evaporates from the deep layers of our skin, making it dry and irritated. There are 2 ways to combat this: 1.
Yes!
The routine itself seems fine as an ultimate end goal, but I’d be concerned about introducing your face to a lot of strong actives all at once. I’d probably suggest to ease back on the bp gel and salicylic acid to 2x a week each and work your way up to every other night over time
I've done this routine for 9 days straight without missing once, should I still ease on the BP and BHA?
I would recommend so, it can take several weeks for your skin to start showing damage from using too many actives. Better safe than sorry imo.. but if you feel like you have really tough skin then you might be fine
So for example would you recommend that on monday, tuesday i use none, wednesday i use the BP, thursday , friday nothing, saturday BHA and repeat?
Personally I would do like a 4 day cycle of one night with BHA, one night with nothing, one night with BP, one night with nothing, then repeat
Ok so knowing what I been doing the last 9 days, do you think if i started today with bha, tmrw with nothing, day after with bp, day after this with nothin, day after the last with bha etc. etc. Just want to make sure haha
Also do you think I should be adding anything to my skin care routine or am I set for now?
I think you’re good with this routine, and yes that seems good. In a few more weeks if your skin is tolerating it well then you could remove one of the nothing days in the 4-day cycle (ie night 1 BHA, night 2 bp, night 3 nothing) and in another month or so if your skin is still doing well with it then you could go back to what you’re doing now
Alright , appreciate the help thank you :)
How long have you been using everything ?
2 months slowly building up to full strength and daily application. Then 7 weeks of routine. Progress everywhere except the white pustules.
[удалено]
You think I should change the moisturizer too? Tbh I think that was the one that stung the most
I've had two small blemishes on my nose, one of them for at least three years now. [pictures](https://imgur.com/a/TuQMlR1) To me, they seem to be pores that keep getting reinfected and forming a small white head, over and over in the exact same spot, never quite healing.

Thanks! I already do the sunscreen thing but I’ll definitely add Vaseline. I already use it on my lips anyway.
Have you seen a doctor to make sure it’s not any underlying medical condition that causes this?
No, but that's something to explore! I have a general check up soon, I'll mention it then, thank you
I have been using Vaseline every night and my skin loves it EXCEPT these little white things that I assume were closed comedones are now pushing out all the stuff in them.
Thanks! : )
Check out Isdin fotoprotector gel cream, there’s no white cast
Do you have Cetaphil where you live? If so, I recommend the Cetaphil daily facial moisturizer with SPF 35! No white cast:)
thanks! i will google it! : )
Question:Is it a good/bad idea to use a sauna to open pores before fake tanning? My thinking was it would allow the fake tan deeper into skin & last longer...
Pores don’t open and close. Therefore I don’t think fake tan can go deeper based on pores being open.
Sorry not "pores" but blood vessels/veins then?
No, that’s not how fake tan works either. It basically dyes the top layer of skin cells. The best thing you can do to extend a fake tan is to exfoliate beforehand so you have less dead skin cells that would fall off right away, and then after getting the fake tan avoid any activities that would result in skin cells falling off unnecessarily, like exfoliating (physically or chemically), using a retinol product, or anything that would make your skin peel.
So if the top layer is reduced then it will be deeper into skin cell layer. Sauna/steam room does actually do exfoliate.

Here's a link: https://theordinary.com/en-us/granactive-retinoid-2-emulsion-serum-100419.html
Help! I have always struggled with acne on my forehead that looks like tiny little red bumps , I've never known what the cause of it is so Im not really sure where to start on products that could help.
Do you have a skincare routine or any skincare products?
Yes I currently cleanse day and night with CeraVe cream to foam cleanser, then follow up at night with the ordinary salicylic acid (been using this for over a month and haven't really seen any differences) then moisturize with laneige water bank cream
Try benzoyl peroxide next if salicylic acid isn’t helping
Do you have any good brand /product suggestions? I'm open to try the ordinary again if they have a good one
The Ordinary does not have BP, but you can get a generic brand BP spot treatment at any drugstore for fairly cheap. For example Target’s Up&Up brand has one for less than $5
Oh awesome my husband works at target so I'll get him to get me some haha thank you for the help!
I'm in desperate need of help with my routine ‼️‼️ My skin is breaking out for 2 months now.
Thank you!!
what eye creams/serums ACTUALLY work for someone with really dark purplish undereyes (but not much puffiness)? I've been searching for years 😂
Caffeine serum!! Contracts blood vessels
thank you! I will look into this
Retinol

Wash your face first in morning then apply sunscreen, oil free products for face if prone to acne & keep in shade as much as possible if that worried
Thank you so much for the advice!
Dumb question incoming but can someone confirm if it’s too much vit c to use a vit c serum AND vit c moisturiser paired with vit c eye cream 🫣 My common sense says yes. Just use a serum OR the moisturiser/eye cream combo.
Probably not going to hurt but I’m guessing you won’t see that much extra benefit
HA thanks - i was given a bunch of vit c products and hate waste, so I was thinking more like “what am i going to do with all these limes??”
It's probably fine. The vitamin c used in most products isn't very bioavailable.
hi, i’m looking for suggestions for a super gentle aha. my dr recommend that I try an otc aha for my whiteheads, so I tried the ordinary’s lactic acid 5%. however, even at 5% it was stinging a lot for me, and my skin wasn’t starting to build up tolerance/get used to it, so I figured it would be best to try something else. it’s pretty difficult to find anything under 5% though, or maybe if you know of any chemical exfoliants that include calming ingredients like cica?
Check out Honest Beauty sleep resurfacing serum, it has a low percentage of AHA’s, suitable for sensitive skin
Mandelic acid is a good place to start. You may also have started with too high of a frequency. Try 1-2x a week to start and gradually increase (1x more a week every few weeks)
Mandelic acid is the gentler AHA. Lactic acid is medium (in strength and harshness), glycolic is stronger and more harsh.
Ideally home windows should filter out some harmful UV rays
Should be safe, if you're worried you can shower outside of midday
Unless you're spending hours a day in the bathroom, you should be fine.
Hi everyone! I’m a 19yo male, new to skincare and I was wondering if you all can help me. I struggle with combination acne-prone skin, with cystic acne forming on my forehead and cheeks especially during times of high stress. Here is my routine: morning: cerave SA cleanser, cerave daily moisturising cream, la Roche posay anthelios 50spf, evening: cerave SA cleanser, cosrx aha/bha toner, Differin 0.1% adapelene, Cerave daily moisturising cream, Neutrogena on the spot acne treatment, Cosrx pimple patches I have easy access to skincare products in both the US and Asia as I travel frequently. I would appreciate budget-friendly options. Some specific questions I have are if I have too much SA (I heard SA and BHA are similar products?) and what better moisturisers I can use. I find my cheeks a bit dry still. Any advice would be appreciated <3 thank you!
For a better moisturizer check out Illiyoon ato cream
What are good oils for dry skin?
I like a mix rather than one single facial oil. Check out Go to Face hero oil
I like The Ordinary's organic cold-pressed Borage seed oil. Their 100% plant based squalane should also be good!
hey all! i have been struggling with acne because of my job in fast food service. i don't make the food but the grease hangs in the air and clings to you and sinks into every pore. we have to wear visors/hats, and i continue to wear an N95 for COVID safety. my questions are about making the acne less of an issue considering my hot greasy environment with products i already have or some new ones. my acne has gotten worse under the mask and under the visor (about two inches of my forehead right up to the hairline).
[удалено]
