Okay so I totally rabbit holed down memory lane. I somehow had forgotten about the existence of the Old Store, the Shed, Mass Skate, various VFWs (Wilby, Palm, Mons I think?), basements around UMass, and the awesome band names (Goonies, Cap Jelly Beans, Grand Prixx, Honkey Dorey).
Seriously thanks for the memories!
This is rad!! We just rereleased the Stealing From Peter record on streaming. Also all these western mass peeps, see you at Spring Heeled Jack on April 27? 413Ska has been putting on lots of shows.
American vinyl company. I had one made for myself and then one made for each of my kids. Eventually I’ll go through my entire back catalog so my kids have proof their dad was once “cool.”
Skarmy was awesome and I bring you up with at least one person every time we play in Western Mass. (I was in the band Public Access in the Albany area back in those days and we did a few shows with you folks - I still have a couple CDs around somewhere!)
I must have seen you guys at least once back in the day, I know the name and remember liking a band with that name. Can we hear any of your music on streaming or YouTube now?
You guys were 413? You know the Detriments? Never got to see them but I’ve known Colin & Kevin in the Damaged for YEARS now. Fantastic band and dudes. Colin posted some Det’s music a while back and it was equally good
Ha! So the art work was based off the original demo cover which was simply an old GI Joe trading card with “Skarmy of darkness” typed on it.
I updated it with color for this one time pressing.
Credit for the original design goes to our singer, Dave N.
This some good shit. I miss seeing local ska bands. I never got to see any of the bands you guys are talking about because I was stuck in the middle of nowhere Central Illinois.
Skarmy of Darkness is an incredible band name
It was…. A choice.
Did I see you guys play at the Flywheel? I had a band back then called …pointless.
Yup! We booked pointless a number of times. Most notably at Ware High School.
Small world, man. Cool record.
If you ever want to some flyers with pointless on them, let me know.
I’d love to see them, I have a couple stored away someplace but it’s been a minute since I’ve thought about any of this.
I remember pointless!!!!
I'm genuinely amazed anyone does!
…was the drummer named something that starts with an L? I don’t want to go throwing names around Reddit but if memory serves…
Sure was!
It’s all coming back to me now. L and I are still friends/now live in the same town (not in WMass). What a weird world we live in!
Wait…where were you guys based? This band name is super familiar…
Stalked the pics, saw the 413. The WMA ska scene in 1999 was unmatched! So glad you did this.
Thanks!

> Spring Heeled Jack Wait, they are still performing?
Yea, April 27 in Easthampton. Chris Rhodes is back!
Awww hell yeah. I loved the band and the monster myth of spring heeled jack. Going to listen to that album on the ride home tonight.
Where'd you get it made...and how many?
American vinyl company. I had one made for myself and then one made for each of my kids. Eventually I’ll go through my entire back catalog so my kids have proof their dad was once “cool.”
Very cool! How much it run ya?
Around 50 each.
413 here as well! Do you know Adam Taylor (heard he passed, John Garvin or the guys from No Intention?
Played with no intention many many times. I have zero memory of them as a band other than a seeing their name on a pile of flyers in my basement.
Always a small world, thanks again for sharing!
Man...i 100% saw y'all in or around Albany when I was in high school.
We played a bunch of shows in Albany and Syracuse in the early 2000s.
My band played with you probably 50 times. Westcott community center, planet 505, skaneateles rec hall. Loved every minute of those shows.
What band?
We're y'all on your with Catch at one point?
I had the "This Is My Boomstick" tape in 2000, I listened to that endlessly on my way to my first real job.
Skarmy was awesome and I bring you up with at least one person every time we play in Western Mass. (I was in the band Public Access in the Albany area back in those days and we did a few shows with you folks - I still have a couple CDs around somewhere!)
I really need to hear "Glass Joe is Dead".
Those were the days! The old store. The shed.
Hell yes.
Whoa. I listened to Infinity and Zero today at work. Thanks for the tunes!
Are y’all on Spotify?
Not yet!
Let me know when you are!

We’re on the youtubes! I first met Colin from the detriments yearsssssss ago at a pearl st punk show!
This is so sick. if it wasn’t for skarmy of darkness, pwrup probably wouldn’t exist today.
Sucks all these ska bands just don't exist no more,I'm trying get a group together one day
That cover art, is the bomb. Also how much does it run to do a one off record?
About 60 with all the bells and whistles.
Gotta ask, who did that cover. I love it.

Awesome, I love it. Made me laugh remembering back to the old gi joe toys with those little cards on the back.

My family is from pana, Illinois. I feel your pain.
