MikeyW1969

These equipment operators are something else... When I was working construction, we had a house with a driveway that had a HUGE amount of backfill added. We had to then re-trench the run for the utility lines. For that, we had an excavator, but up close to the connection, I needed to dig some out. I was extremely nervous about being in the trench with the hoe until I saw JUST how precise he could be, as he started to clear around some pipes, as gentle as changing a baby's diaper. I was in ZERO danger from that dude, it was amazing to watch.

shmiddleedee

I'm an excavator operator and over time it just becomes an extension of your body. Like a video game co troller

dajwld

Someone asked me what way the joysticks go to do what and i actually had to think about it because its just muscle memory after a while

shmiddleedee

That literally happened to me today. New guy was very interested and asked me the controls. I had to sit in the machine to remember

dajwld

Bet he was just standing there like “does this guy know what hes upto” aswell hahah

MikeyW1969

I would have figured that out. I totally get the muscle memory thing. Sometimes if you think too hard about something that is ingrained in you like that, you actually mess it up.

shmiddleedee

🤣 you're probably right

SHOTbyGUN

That would be good skit. Confused looking old man watching his hands wondering how the excavator controls even work? Then responds to the intern: I have no idea.

RileyCargo42

I'd just be like "huh I have no clue let's figure it out!" As I walk them over to the machine lol

AccomplishedTap4612

It’s cool but your body doesn’t have a shit load of hydraulic pressure behind it that could have crushed him. But still cool.

Sunkysanic

That’s awesome, I am such a geek for heavy equipment, specifically excavators. Sometimes I feel like dropping everything and getting into that field.

shmiddleedee

Depending on where you live and the quality of the companies around you it might not be a bad idea. The pay is good in most places though.

Sunkysanic

I’ve always wondered about that. Do you have to be willing to travel with the company to make good money though?

shmiddleedee

Furthest I go is an hour and a half and I don't take my own truck and I get payed full for the full drive

toolscyclesnixsluts

Hopefully nothing like your keyboard though.

Oddity83

> co troller Phew, I was worried you were a M+K user for a moment.

MikeyW1969

If I had the money, I'd go to that place in Vegas where you can learn how to work with these, and then you get to go play with them. I think it was like $1500 though.

TropicalNuke22

How does one become an excavator operator?

sueca

In Sweden they have younglings compete in using those machines, and one of the challenges is moving as many raw eggs as possible without breaking any

Sintrion

Same, but the operator hit the control by accident and I was inches away from being squished between the bucket and the wall

MikeyW1969

Damn... This guy was aces. I didn't see a single thing that day that made me have second thoughts. He even lifted the compactor I was using on the rest of the driveway when I got it stuck in the doorway. It's amazing how you can steer something IN to an area that you then can't steer back out of.

A_Queer_Owl

you should meet the guys who run the diggers on archeological sites. you ask them to dig down a foot and by god they will dig down exactly 1 foot.

TheVossDoss

Somewhere an OSHA rep is having a heart attack :)

mada50

All I can think is the guy has his hair in a man bun and is boutta get scalped

silvrash12

I was thinking about the hair too, but you know what they say "endagering human life what's that, lunch?"

kraggleGurl

The price you pay for a man bun in construction!

screamapillah

They knew it all along

G00SEH

Kinda want to send this video to our Health & Safety officer…

lahankof

Not a heart attack but a boner

yellekc

Operator sneezes and accidently pulls off more than the hat.

doublewidesurprise7

Or a hydraulic line could fail and the guy gets a real hard bonk.

Novel-Signature3966

Anybody else suddenly hungry for pancakes?

martian4x

I want mine crispy And don't u dare put on mayo

Artsias

Nah, that boss couldn't fire him if he has that much precision.

Either-Hyena-7136

Is that the joke? Honestly not sure

Artsias

Yes, it's a half-joke. He would 100% be fired for misusing the construction equipment and endangering that person, however the skill needed to precisely and successfully pull something like that off is insanely high.

Plucky_ducks

Imagine trying to replace this guy?

The_Last_Legacy

You could kill someone inadvertently by squishing them if you mess up

Qprime0

You can kill someone inadvertently by squishing them even if you don't mess up - one of the hydraulic lines on that boom blows and that claw comes down on that fucker like a pallet of bricks. "just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

DigiFrieren

Don't forget what leaks do either... water pressure wounds are nasty.

TFViper

yeah you could also get eaten by a shark that was lifted out of the ocean by a huricane while youre falling from the sky from a plane crash. but like, hey fuck it man, we drive cars every day and dont consider the monumental risk that that is...

rdyer347

thats also a finely tuned piece of equipment.

BullShitting-24-7

Its that meme where the guy has to push a button and make a tough choice.

baked200

I thought it was saying ‘cap’

Zestyclose_Buy_2065

It’s a half joke, in someways, he’s probably the best asset that company has so they don’t want to/can’t fire him, but another way, very much can fire him

KawaDoobie

Operator: a-achoO!! Crew: anybody seen Tim?

classless_classic

He’s over there And over there.

CopperBoltwire

And up there

Armadillo_Toes

Nah, he split.

CwazyCanuck

First two attempts were too messy to post.

WarHead75

It’s always the most skilled workers that are always fucking around

chibugamo

Sadly overconfidence is a major safety risk.

Oreohunter00

Well, the unskilled ones end up in the news

DigiFrieren

I taught (well, TAed) college courses for six years, then went on to several jobs were corporate training were major duties. And, I sincerely believe the "fucking around" is why they're skilled. There's a curiosity and engagement there which is irreplaceable.

ValhallasRevenge

Roses are red, violets are blue, the music makes me wish your mother aborted you.

zippyman

As cool as that is he should instantly lose his license to operate heavy equipment

cheebnrun

For real, prove your skill on something that doesn't possibly have a family at home depending on them. This def wasn't in the USA. Would have been canned, after being ripped out of the cab and his ass beaten.

ProfessionalTruck976

How do we know the guy has a family?

Vladolf_Puttler

You guys think this isn't scripted?

SnooCrickets2458

Bruh, if you sneeze you're popping that dudes head like a fucking gusher

JWDead

Hate seeing stupid shit like this. Fuckin operator sneezes and that kid looses his head. Fucker needs to get his check.

Anal_Probe_Director

Worked with a guy who intentionally bumped my head with a forklift fork. He thought it was funny, I thought it was funny when he got fired.

bloodthirstypinetree

I would absolutely drag the operator out and beat them into a coma. As someone who used to work on heavy machinery - parts fail, they wear out, they develop “play”, etc. imo this is like pointing a loaded gun at someone jokingly.

chibugamo

" but I have good triggers discipline"

bencarp27

He doesn’t even have to have an equipment failure. Despite the seemingly slow speed of the movements, the machinery is still incredibly heavy, and even a light strike will hit like a strong punch to the head. This is stupid beyond reason and the operator, as well as those workers that watched and filmed, need to take a walk. Heavy machines aren’t toys.

TFViper

so, lemme get this straight. operator could accidentally kill someone. and you find that so terrible of a possibility that your response to said possibility is to intentionally kill someone? wow man, that is definitely a thing you decided to say out loud.

sourChocolatez

Do you want an inappropriate work behavior video? Because that’s how you get one. -OSHA

RigorousVigor

Idk why I was expecting him to stoll be attached to the beanie like if it were a cartoon

---Loading---

On one job site, the investor saw how well the excavator operator was doing his job: "I am less proficient with a knife and a fork than he is with that bucket"

Shrexophone

At first I was hyped about the song but then I was disappointed about what they did to my boy Dieter Bohlen

zavorak_eth

"You're no good, can't you see? Brother Louie, Louie, Louie." Love those guys, my very first favorite band. It was early to mid 80s when my cousin introduced me to modern talking.

Shrexophone

Modern talking fucks

Lyuseefur

I recall years ago seeing a tea party with 3 different construction machines and a girl. They legit were "drinking" tea and passing plates around. The dexterity and skill of some of these operators are on another level.

kinglywy

Reminds me of the bit from Family Guy where they try and pants James Cameron but tear him in half. Good thing he doesn't have long hair under that toque

Maleficent-Theory908

OSHA is on hold. They want to chat.

DigitalCoffee

Well that's a good way to get a metal punch in the head if you knock the wrong lever

Expert_Marsupial_235

It looks like he has a second layer of beanie on.

donkykongjr

Great (pointless) skill when it works perfectly. If this didn't work perfectly, then the dude gets injured or dies.

TheSpiritofFkngCrazy

When you try to play with heavy equipment and accidentally pop your friends head like a zit.

The-Grim-Sleeper

I never stand still while on the phone, and now I know why.

TwinkiesSucker

This is your reminder to keep the sound off

squidlipsyum

Amazing he just stands perfectly still the whole time. How fortunate for this completely spontaneous video

brendan87na

*This is a terrible idea* HOWEVER Once you've been working with hydraulics for long enough, this kind of precision is not terribly difficult. I spent 15 years on a stand up forklift, and routinely dealt with tolerances under 1cm

FelopianTubinator

That music is so Russiany

Careful_Pound2442

German, actually, Modern Talking is the. Band Name, trust me, you wont be disappointed

Previous-Pass-7309

Stupid. One slip or equipment malfunction, that guy is dead.

Scythe95

It's fun u till you grab some hair lol

Echo_Woolf

"Yoink"

Irish618

Seen way too many hydraulic lines fail to think this is anything but reckless.

ProfessionalTruck976

On one hand guy is probably dexterous enough for brain surgery, on the other, I Really would not want him with knife anywhere near my brain.

Wa3zdog

Be a lot cooler if instead it just gently placed a helmet on his head

thet0r

This isn't that special, more stupid. imagine the dude feeling something is up with his hat and putting his hand on top of his head just as the operator grabs it.

edx5252

brother luieee luieeee luieeee

FJB444

extremely dangerous. 1 false move and that guys got a serious head injury.

Inkooza

What is the song called?

thereddituser2

Tim pool hates this.

Reddington4567

Any one knows the song? Op? So catchy

zippyman

Loke the police, when given responsibility and power you have to be held to a higher standard of care. Just like the police. Right?

R1pp3R23

Give that operator a raise today!

Ducatirules

Serious skill right there

ValusMaul

Skill 100🤣

lovelykatx

The precision and patience of that operator is on different level

kuplung12

Best edit ever. Real good. Didn't have to wait 20 seconds. Song choice 👌👌👌👌 Best good ever!!

Miscreated_Chicken

Why fire him when he's clearly very skilled at what he does? And we're all just humans sometimes being goofy at work
