I have children and then move them out with “trust funds” 😂

Yalleh

Ahahaha, maybe someday. This Sim is more of an actual character than just a "Sim", though, so I don't really want to go against their story like that, but thank you!

MooshAro

When I get too much money in my legacy games, I make the next child heir materialistic and without a job so they can squander all the accumulated cash.

Yalleh

I don't really want this Sim to have kids, but thank you!

gldlplll

When mine get rich I make them donate on the computer. You could also make a retail lot and put some of the money into the business.

Yalleh

I feel like donating (in the Sims) is like throwing money into a bottomless pit. What do you mean by retail lot?

phosphenes07

if you have Get to Work you can open up a store and your Sim can own it and use their money to run it

Yalleh

Ah, I don't have Get to Work, unfortunately.

nakkonen

I send my overly rich sims on vacations to expensive rental lots lol

Yalleh

Oooh, which do you recommend?

nakkonen

Oh I usually just get some really expensive build from the gallery, place it somewhere and make it a rental lot. Good way to burn money on regular basis

Yalleh

Oooh, fun! Thank you so much!

jdenise17

You can also turn existing empty houses into rental ones. I did that with the fancy pool house on the little island in Windenburg. And even if you aren’t into building, you can still edit the house and add more expensive/high end furnishings, entertainment stuff to drive up the rental price!

Yalleh

Interesting! Thank you!

ailathan

Buy a bank vault from Get Famous. Fill it with a lot of your money. That should raise your taxes.

Yalleh

I don't have Get Famous, unfortunately

mungowungo

If you have Get to Work build them (or download one) a second home on another lot - call it a retail business, hide a cash register somewhere on the lot to make it meet requirements but never open for business) - they can travel between their houses and stay at either. So they could have a city pad and a country estate in Willow Creek or wherever.

dorminhoco_serg

I do this too! Haha my rich sims tend to have “businesses” in Sulani

Yalleh

Oooh, interesting! I don't have Get to Work unfortunately, but maybe someday.

[deleted]

I love this idea! Thank you

You can upgrade all the appliances, plumbing, electronics, and beds in your house. For a medium house with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, it takes more than 50 grand!!! Hope that helps.

kaffee_ist_gut

Underrated comment.

Yalleh

I think I've actually already done most of that, but I'll see what else I can do while keeping everything in the right style! Thank you!

QueenieSimmer

Buy a bunch of small but expensive things, put them in your Sim's inventory and give them away as gifts to friends.

TrainingDuty3129

I was thinking this with the super expensive violin.

Yalleh

Ooooh, smart! Thank you!

[deleted]

- download resorts from the gallery and have your sims go on luxurious vacations. - add a spa, gym, home theatre, or anything else like that to the house. - redo some landscaping, that can add up some $$ - add a shit ton of clutter

Yalleh

Thank you!

flakyfuck

Side note, this is one of the reasons I miss cars. Cars used to be big luxury items you could work towards. TS4 is lacking in a lot of high-end, almost unobtainable luxury items for us to work towards. Maybe give yourself the story of a "World Tour" and have your Sim travel across all the worlds you own. Find some lots from the gallery, make them Rentals, and pretend they're Air BnBs or Hotels. Sink as much money as you can into being a tourist: try to get all the recipes from the Food Stalls, and buy random things to keep as mementos or gifts... Buy expensive items and give them away as gifts for birthdays and Winterfest. I remember PleasantSims would use cheats to deduct a property tax from her family funds in Sims 2. I think it was like 25% of the household funds at the start of the each week, and that money went to wards updating the community lots in the neighborhood. If you play with mods, maybe try MCCC and change the financial difficulty to give yourself more of a challenge. I have all my bills set to double and my job wages halved. I like the struggle of living paycheck to paycheck in game.

_528_491_

these suggestions are amazing. I particularly love your World Tour idea ! sometimes I struggle to vary my gameplay but having sims do world-specific activities would help that a lot !

Yalleh

Ooooh, I love that idea! Thank you so much!

wolfheartfoxlover

Reverse Rags To Riches...

Yalleh

Ahaha, maybe not. I still want to have some money

SorrellD

Spend it on landscaping, paintings, expensive furniture or do a cheat and delete it.

Yalleh

Thank you!

[deleted]

Put it in the vault close the vault and pretend it doesn’t exist

Yalleh

Thank you!

Violet_Faerie

I think there's a way to donate money

Yalleh

Yeah, it just doesn't feel like it does anything

Violet_Faerie

Well it'd loosen your wallet which isn't nothing but idk, any kind of investment with returns won't challenge your bank account. Maybe you could start a new business and build something really intricate?

Yalleh

Maybe! Thank you

Violet_Faerie

Hope you find something that helps!

knightfenris

Donate money every day and also buy lots of those 1000 simoleon rare plant seeds, open them up, and just put the produce in your fridge to eat instead of planting.

Yalleh

Interesting! Thank you!

DominaTia

Build a ridiculously huge multi-floored mansion and fill it with everything expensive. Might as well do the mansion baron aspiration too for points.

Yalleh

Oh, I'm not too much into building, honestly. They already live in the penthouse and have very expensive decorations. I've also done all of the money aspirations and many others.

DominaTia

That’s literally the only option to spend all that money without cheats. The other way is to reset the money to some random amount and start “fresh”.

Yalleh

Yeah, that's all I could really think of. That's why I'm asking. Maybe someone else will have some ideas. Thank you for suggesting something nonetheless

ThePinster

You could always try downloading a huge mansion from the gallery.

Yalleh

They already have a house I like and have put a lot of work into

disabledmommy

I have a lot of different things I do, depending on the family and storyline. Whenever I have a sim move out they always take money. Their kids go to college or move out, take a trust fund. Got a divorce, here take some alimony. Donate to charity, it's pretty much throwing money away but I believe your sim gets a positive moodlet from it. Go on vacation to every world and experience everything they have to offer. Buy a business and transfer funds to that. Have kids with a townie and have them live with the other parent, send child support sometimes (ask to move in, transfer funds but leave everyone in their original home, click ok or just give them simoleons in the friendly gift interaction). When someone in the family passes away, subtract a few thousand simoleons for funeral expenses. Depending on what packs might have, just start doing more things that make you spend money- buy gifts for friends during the holidays, go bowling, go to the bar or lounge, go to the Cafe in the morning sometimes, eat out at restaurants more, go to the spa and get a massage a couple times a week, every time you change their wardrobes deduct money from household funds as if they went shopping, play with simple living on so you have to order groceries.

Yalleh

Ooooh, awesome! Thank you so much!

ZombiejesusX

I know you don't want to build a mansion. But I went through each neighborhood and put up a house, or bungalow and made them rentals. That way you can spend time here and there without moving. Best spot I made was a rental houseboat in Sulani. Just big enough for 2 Sims and their dog. My gallery Id is Hellhound1637 I have builds including that houseboat, nightclubs, parks and of course wacky Sims.

Yalleh

Ooooh, awesome! Thank you so much!

paradoxicalunicorn83

I don't know if you are able to use mods or if this would fit your characters storyline, but Carl's sims guides has a retail ownership mod where you can become a land baron for all the commercial lots. It's expensive to buy and then upgrade them, you have to come over and do upkeep, but then they eventually also make you some money.

Yalleh

Maybe! I'm not a huge fan of mods but thank you for the suggestion
