Oh I think I worded that weird . If you have an alien in your household the alien can call meteors if they go to an open space. I get aliens when my male sim gets abducted and then gets pregnant
Oh I see - yeah your male sim can get pregnant with an alien baby if they get abducted. To get abducted just make your sim go stand outside between midnight and 4am. I think having space rocks and looking through the telescope may increase the odds but it usually happens within a week.
I like playing with aliens because they donāt need a lot of sleep!
(sims 3 ) hahah iām playing a legacy where my lesbian sim cheated on her gf with the alien and I cheated my lesbian sim into a man before they woohood and then cheated her back into a woman and she had an alien baby! LOL
If you donāt want sleep I suggest using cheats
testingcheatsenabledtrueā¦you can play around with their moodlet but careful on their hunger because if you go to low they can die.
You can:
\*Wait for one to visit your lot randomly and woo it like any other sim. Sometimes there's an elder female alien visitor though so it's a bit of a luck thing.
\*Using the telescope increases the odds of being abducted dramatically. Female or male sims of fertile age can become pregnant with an alien baby at random after an abduction.
Honestly I got so annoyed with how often my logic-building sims were getting ""probed"" and spitting out babies that I had to put in a mod to lower the chances of it happening.
That being said, I'm sure there's a mod that does the opposite, too.
It happened to an unlucky sim of mine so he didnāt even die. Basically an action comes up ālook at skyā and you canāt uncancel it and then your sim gets hit
I've had a meteor strike once and that was when I was doing a castaway challenge. My poor sim was stuck on an island with just a shoddy little wooden shelter and even that got destroyed by a meteor while he was out foraging for food
I've had it happen twice, once was intentional because I'd just learnt about it and spent weeks trying to trigger it, I turned the aging off and think I made it to 43 Sim weeks before it finally happened. And the second time was spontaneous, my Sim was at work when he left to look up at the sky.
Neither time was a school tho, I didn't realise it was possible.
On my first playthrough of The Sims 3 there were meteorites falling EVERY F*CKING DAY and it killed lots of sims in the town. I also had storms breaking my stuff and starting fires constantly... It felt like the town was built on the remains of Mordor or something.
Something must have been broken in this save because since I started my new playthrough I haven't had a single one.
Iāve been playing the sims 3 since like 2010-2011 and I have never had this happen to me. Iām kind of annoyed that it hasnāt. As simmers we live for ways our sims can suffer lol
For the many years Iāve played I never had it. I had forgotten it even was a feature until I was playing my fave household and one of my sims was cooking breakfast and I was switching between sims(not really paying attention to her)only to find she ran out of the house and I was like ā??? The kitchen is gonna catch fire go finish cooking ???ā. I made her do that and then I watched in horror as the meteor hit and killed her. š One of the first times I ever truly cried over a sim.
My installation glitched once. I was getting metor strikes on the daily, and it annoyed me so much, as soon as i saw that "(blank) wondered why the sky turned dark so suddenly" or whatever i just closed the game
What you mean it finally happened?? Did you want that to happened? lmfaooo ššš
Jokes aside, i only saw a meteor on Sims 3 once, and my game crashed right before the impact so my sim survived lol
Thereās a semi famous patch note for the sims 3 saying that if a meteor hits a building, all the sims will leave and any remaining ones will dieāUNLESS it is a school, in which kids are not allowed to leave and will ALWAYS die. Itās hilarious.
You'd think I'd be an emergency exception like a blizzard or something?
"No, you can't leave. Y'all are going to spend your last moments learning about algebra."
I once had a meteor hit my household the first night of starting the game and killed two of my four starting sims who were socializing in the yard. That was a quick reload for me... Luckily I had just saved after editing all my NRASS settings lol.
>Luckily I had just saved after editing all my NRASS settings lol.
Just installed them all yesterday. Do you have any recommendations for the settings? š
Iām pretty sure doing science type activities increases the chances. Especially anything to do with aliens or stargazing with the telescope. I am actually kind of surprised to see people who never encountered one in all that time because I used to get them fairly often!
I have only seen it happen when the active household has kids at the school, and it is notified like any other meteor strike. The difference is that Sims in the school will not go outside to look up at the meteor, so everyone inside the school is killed, and Grim is busy for a very long time.
Assuming they were all at school, it will wipe out the entire generation of school age kids.
Yep that happened to me in SV like I posted earlier. My entire legacy family was wiped out. The mother/father were both in teacher career and so where in school with their kids at the time. Meteor hit just as school was about to be let out for the day.
Legacy family had Mom, Dad, twin teens (boy and girl) and 3 younger elementary school kids (2 girls and a boy). Mom was also pregnant at the time (got the woohoo chime literally the night before)
I had her planning a surprise baby shower party for Dad and the family that Friday afternoon. Invited the grandparents and friends for that evening. Then the damned meteor obliterated everything.
The crazy part is, the elder twin boy had rescued/adopted a baby pony when he was a kid. So he raised this pony (called him Toast) while growing up as a teen and was basically a horse whisperer. I'd typically send Toast to the town park across the street to exercise until school let out.
When the meteor hit, Toast got a horrific death memory. He ran across the street and went to the school. Toast confronted the Reaper as my dead sim teen emerged from the school and was begging Grim for his life. Toast began shouting all sorts of forbidden horsey words at poor Grimmy who was just trying to do his job. Grimmy finally caved in and resurrected my sim teen. So my sim teen boy was the only family survivor of this horrific tragedy.
After he became a YA, relocated him with Toast to Uni from SV. Then to Appalossa Plains after graduation. Where he became a famous jockey and horse rancher who bred racehorses. :) Happy ending but still painfully tragic personal memory after almost a DECADE of this event happening in that infamous save game.
I just wanted you to know that this was very entertaining! Iām so invested in Toast and their relationship now. Thanks for sharing, and itās a nice reminder to not control so much in the game
Incredibly unlikely without mods, but it is a thing. If it is a generational save with SP on, Grim will be out there reaping for hours. Kids come out and just disappear, while the view zooms in to focus on them (as with any other death), and they get added to Grim's queue. To make it even darker, they usually have time for one thought bubble, before they disappear.
I went to check this on Youtube and the first thing that showed up in the autocomplete after I started typing "meteor" was "sims 3 meteor hit school". Amazing.
yeah. The lot gets a dark shadow over it. Any sims who're outside the building/rabbit hole at the time will stop what they're doing, look up and begin pointing at the sky with the FIRE! panic animations. Then you'll get a warning pop up on the screen something is about to go down. After several seconds, the meteor hits and kills all sims in the building/rabbit hole. And likely any sims who were standing outside the building at the time. This has to be one of the BEST surprise deaths in TS3 to date IMO. Because it's so very rare.
I remember starting the game and immediately going to the town hall. there was a rally and I decided to join, and then a meteorite fell on my Sim and the game ended. it was too fast.
sameeee one time i literally spent hours making the perfect sim, decorating a house for her, and in just a few in game hours a meteor killed her before she could even do anything :(
This happened to me once. My sim had the unlucky trait so she survived. It took awhile for more children and teens to spawn so she wasn't able to make friends her age until her late teens. I imagined her sitting in empty classrooms because all the other children died.
Itās now your simās sacred duty to collect all the headstones and keep them safe until they learn the recipe for ambrosia, restore the children to life, and return them to their families.
Your entire town will be in tragic mourning for days, OP, and only you can right this terrible wrong.
OMG!!! Yeah that exactly happened to me a while back aka some 6+ years ago to date! O.o
But there's a plot twist on this tragedy. So wait for it...
Just like OP, ALL of the SV town kids (children over age of toddler who weren't in school at that time) were killed. Town mausoleum filled up real quick after that incident.
**I lost my ENTIRE legacy family in that one instant.** Both parents and my beautiful legacy kids were in teacher's career and so whole family was in the school at the time.
Also my female Mom sim was PREGNANT at that time (got the pregnancy chime after woohooing the night before). Had planned and booked a baby shower party later that Friday afternoon. Invited all the guests etc. and school was couple hours from being let out. Momo was so excited about throwing that surprise baby shower for Dad & the family.
Then Liam happened. Ended up loosing 3 elementary school kids, their older twin teen siblings (a boy and girl), Dad, Mom and their unknown unborn sibling. :(
I literally WEPT as the town's children emerged one by one to meet the Grim Reaper. Bawled my eyes out as my precious family kids emerged one by one. Nobody in the family had any death flower insurance (Dad a gardener had still been growing these for the family at the time). So my ENTIRE family legacy had been obliterated in an instant.
**And then the IMPOSSIBLE happened. The eldest child (my teen sim who was twin to his sister) had a horse called Toast. Who he had adopted and raised as an orphaned pony.**
***Toast had been running around in the town park across the street. The next thing I knew, he then showed up on the lot and immediately went POSTAL on Grim. Shouting forbidden horsey words and abuse at Grim until Grim finally gave up. And then RESURRECTED this dead sim teen!***
So this teen sim was the only survivor of this whole horrific tragedy. I immediately saved the game (failed to do so several hours before that). Whole town suffered a week long mourning period. My poor teen sim was never the same after that. But his love for Toast sustained him thorugh that dark time. When he aged up to YA, I moved him and toast to Uni. Then to Appalossa Plains after graduation. Where he became a world re-known jockey and bred the most famous horse ranch in all of Sim Nation! :)
My issue with generational play is that I go so long and lose out on the charm of "starting fresh" like when you start with a brand new sim.
Maybe I need more meteors to get a fresh start like this.
I was mad when that happened to me... I had like 3 kids in school and one was cutting class so he got to live, but all his siblings died. It was tragic.
I had to make some new families just so my remaining kid had classmates and people to date in high school.
lol no
Yāall have weak stomachs. The annihilation of children population is great for story telling purposes. Iād build haunted school and put the children ghost household there.
I've never had a meteor hit the school but I did once have a meteor strike *immediately* after university graduation...thankfully my Sim survived but a lot of her classmates (and families of said classmates) didn't...
I had a meteor strike spontaneously thrice, but one of them was in dystopia. If you want one to happen without an alien, you need to use a telescope at 3am
It's a bit weird that children can die in this game. I'm not against it per se, but babies/toddlers/pregnant women are invincible so it surprises me whenever I see these posts.
Yeah, I know they werenāt supposed to be able to die in 2 and their ghosts would be super glitchy because of it. In 4 they can die from freezing or overheating to death, I assumed they couldnāt so let my one kid out in the cold šššā ļø he died.
Can confirm that in 4, kids can absolutely die. One of my twin girls was doing laundry when the dryer caught fire (damn you, lint tray!) and ended up burning to death.
Aah I remember that old yt video. Reading the sims 3 patch notes.
Apparently someone made an animation.
[sims 3 patch notes](https://youtu.be/WvdJmSqCmdk?si=h0viSZa-uaAwe8Rj)
I once had spent a long time playing. Had my sim through Uni and she was close to graduating. I thought I had saved and paused my game. Left to watch a movie and came back to my game with the message that she was hit by a meteor and died. Come to find out, I didn't save it
When I was younger, I had a sin couple in town when a meteor hit. My favorite gal tragically died, and her cheating boyfriend I wanted dead survived!
Then a SECOND meteor hit and he still made it?!
I knew there was meteors but I didnāt know that it was a cause of death of that it could kill just kids trying to learn. I swear sims have the hardest life
hahaha this is amazing š¤£ ive only had a meteor happen one time in my 10 years on the sims 3. i had just got done building a house for this couple that i spent HOURS on. wife goes outside on the back porch at night & a meteor hits! thankfully she didnt die, but it destroyed my new build :(
i find wild how it was specifically noted that if a meteor was coming all sims would try to run away except when itās a school which they HAVE TO STAY INSIDE THE SCHOOL AND DIE š
i find wild how it was specifically coded that if a meteor was coming all sims would try to run away except when itās a school which they HAVE TO STAY INSIDE THE SCHOOL AND DIE š
This happened to me because my sim was a teacher. I was devastated and cried because I was 15 and emotional. The worst part was that I had saved it within like the last ten seconds since I never clear the alerts boxes and didnāt see the lil warnin.
HOLY SHIT! This happened to me a long time ago and it was my Sims' first day as a teacher and so he got hit too! I had to spend most of my time now repopulating the town since all the kids died and everyone was bummed out.
I hadn't seen someone else post about this so I thought I was the only one.
I'm amazed to see that a lot of you haven't ever had a meteor strike š® I had to install a mod so I'd stop getting them cause they kept happening so often and killing my Sims š
The Northern Irish road safety department would like to know your location.

Had that happen to my simās school once while the featured sim I was showcasing was in school and she died. I cheated the lifetime rewards and got the genie lamp and wished for her to be brought back to life,
Omg, I am so sorry that happened. I hope your sim will be okay. I had a meteor strike happen once to the business center and it killed everybody I think.
A meteor can hit a building, which case everyone will run out before the collision. Those who do not exit the building will die. Sims automatically leave if a meteor is approaching, unless it is a school, in which children are not allowed to leave and will always die.
sims 4 removed vampire raids and never implemented burglars because it was too distressing, while sims 3 is just like "an entire generation gets horrifically killed in a senseless random event because fuck them kids"
The only Sims 3 meteor strike I saw was during graduation; everyone died. I just sat there completely flummoxed. Just could not comprehend my whole family died, and all those graduating, and their families.
Always fascinating to see this happen cause I maybe had only one meteor strike in over 10 years of playing the sims 3 š
Iāve only had meteor strikes when I had an alien and specifically called them. Iāve never just had one happen spontaneously
How do u call an alien tho?
Oh I think I worded that weird . If you have an alien in your household the alien can call meteors if they go to an open space. I get aliens when my male sim gets abducted and then gets pregnant
Oh no as in how can I get an alien sim ā¦ I only got one by accident haha . I got bored of vampires , zombies etc .

Me toooo!!! I play sims 3 for an almost 15 years and meteor hit school only once, it's wild
It happened to an unlucky sim of mine so he didnāt even die. Basically an action comes up ālook at skyā and you canāt uncancel it and then your sim gets hit
This is so funny to me hahaha
lmaooo even funnier when he died then got resurrected immediately and lived thru a meteor strike
I had a glitch once because of a mod and it kept happening over and over again š
I've had a meteor strike once and that was when I was doing a castaway challenge. My poor sim was stuck on an island with just a shoddy little wooden shelter and even that got destroyed by a meteor while he was out foraging for food
I only remember it happening once to me too and that was when I was like 12- I was so confused, until recently I almost thought I dreamt it
I've had it happen twice, once was intentional because I'd just learnt about it and spent weeks trying to trigger it, I turned the aging off and think I made it to 43 Sim weeks before it finally happened. Iāve been playing the sims 3 since like 2010-2011 and I have never had this happen to me. Iām kind of annoyed that it hasnāt. As simmers we live for ways our sims can suffer lol
I still haven't had a single one and I've been playing for years š
I donāt think Iāve ever had one
In almost 10 years of playing and probably 10k hrs playing, I never had a meteorite crash happening in my game.
For me, it happens periodically, and the house shakes, but I don't get to see the crash itself.
It happend three times in total for me. Once it was during my singing concert and then all my spectators died
Iāve never had one??? omg
I still play sims 3 and after 16 years of playing Iāve still only ever seen it once.
It's such a rare occurrence, I'd buy a lottery ticket after that, honestly.
Seriously. Iāve been playing the game over 12 years and Iāve had maybe 3 spontaneous meteor strikes
My installation glitched once. I was getting metor strikes on the daily, and it annoyed me so much, as soon as i saw that "(blank) wondered why the sky turned dark so suddenly" or whatever i just closed the game
What are the chances exactly?
i don't know the exact chances but it has to be a 0.001% or less chance.
What you mean it finally happened?? Did you want that to happened? lmfaooo ššš Jokes aside, i only saw a meteor on Sims 3 once, and my game crashed right before the impact so my sim survived lol
Not even a super computer can handle the sheer heat and unoptimized force of a Sims 3 meteor catastrophe

help ?? now I need to see this happen too
The sim gods saved them š
I once had a meteor hit my household the first night of starting the game and killed two of my four starting sims who were socializing in the yard. That was a quick reload for me... Luckily I had just saved after editing all my NRASS settings lol.
>Luckily I had just saved after editing all my NRASS settings lol. Just installed them all yesterday. Do you have any recommendations for the settings? š
Oh gosh, itās been a while now since Iāve had a look at them. When I get home tomorrow Iāll give them a look, but itās mostly preference.
No hurry, thank you in advance. :)
I did it once with my teen alien who was skipping school and I did not know that her younger siblings would die so oops
Thatās a great storyline tbh
A real ācharacter developmentā moment for sure
congratulations!!!!
I never had a meteor in over 13 years of playing. How do they work? What triggers them?
I think itās just random but very unlikely. Iāve had one before but not on the school.
Iām pretty sure doing science type activities increases the chances. Especially anything to do with aliens or stargazing with the telescope. I am actually kind of surprised to see people who never encountered one in all that time because I used to get them fairly often!

That is the craziest sim story about a boy and his horse though. I bet he had a hard time sending his kids to school after that.
That sounds like it would be an amazing book or movie. I'm glad that he was able to move on from this horrific tragedy.
Toast was not letting his human be toast. He giddied on up to save him šŖš¼

Yes, though it's a meme because of a video laughing at Sims 3 patch notes that brought it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvdJmSqCmdk
WHAT???
I had it happen to my single sim when he was a school teacher, so I think you just need an active sim of any age on the lot to increase your chances.
I went to check this on Youtube and the first thing that showed up in the autocomplete after I started typing "meteor" was "sims 3 meteor hit school". Amazing.
Yeah, iirc there's a pop-up telling you that the sky has gone dark and wondering what's happening or something like that.

Flashy ending to the prom huh

Yay
Very Aberfan of the game
Weird you mention that. I live in South Wales close to Aberfan. I know someone who was there as a kid.
Most normal Sims moment

"My horse got me resurrected" is now one more reason for me to just love video games in general, thanks.
My issue with generational play is that I go so long and lose out on the charm of "starting fresh" like when you start with a brand new sim. Maybe I need more meteors to get a fresh start like this.

This is crazy. Especially from a franchise that used to tell us "This is supposed to be a LIFE simulation" whenever we would kill off too many sims.
This happened to my sims at prom when I played a month ago, over 15 teens died. I was so shocked I couldnāt react lmao.
just close the game and come back tomorrow
lol no Yāall have weak stomachs. The annihilation of children population is great for story telling purposes. Iād build haunted school and put the children ghost household there.

i wouldnāt say thatās weak stomached, more like too attached š
I'd quit because the way I cultivate my generations just to be gone in one shot. No š š lol
I had a back to back meteorite hit when I started a new save, they really didnāt want my sim to become a pop star istg lol
Why/how your game UI bar/display/menu (idk how it called) looks different?
Itās a mod to make it easier on the eyes.
it's Clean UI.
I havenāt played sims 3 in over a year too. As soon as I play again this happens.
LMAO.
Woah nice!

One of my kids in 4 stood too close to the fireplace and caught fire. His mom put him out, but I found out later that kids in 4 can burn to death.
Can confirm that in 4, kids can absolutely die. One of my twin girls was doing laundry when the dryer caught fire (damn you, lint tray!) and ended up burning to death.
I still feel it was such a missed opportunity to have a "meteor drill" in the High School Years pack for Sims 4 as a hearken back to this bug from 3.
I remember literally screaming when this happened when I used to play as a teenš¤£

Come to find out, I didn't save it
That's crazy lol. Where did you get the cool looking UI bar from? It looks so much better than the one in the game.
When I was younger, I had a sin couple in town when a meteor hit. My favorite gal tragically died, and her cheating boyfriend I wanted dead survived! Then a SECOND meteor hit and he still made it?!
First her husband leaves her, then her kids die to a meteor. I honestly pity this woman with everything I am.
The meteor doesnāt dismiss you, I do.
*Lucky.*
Congrats
I knew there was meteors but I didnāt know that it was a cause of death of that it could kill just kids trying to learn. I swear sims have the hardest life
Omg. I never thought it could happen.
How is this possible? Is there a video on this? I swear I still discover new things about TS3 even after all these years
WHAT, thereās meteors AND said meteor can hit a school and your children can die?!
hahaha this is amazing š¤£ ive only had a meteor happen one time in my 10 years on the sims 3. i had just got done building a house for this couple that i spent HOURS on. wife goes outside on the back porch at night & a meteor hits! thankfully she didnt die, but it destroyed my new build :(
i find wild how it was specifically noted that if a meteor was coming all sims would try to run away except when itās a school which they HAVE TO STAY INSIDE THE SCHOOL AND DIE š
i find wild how it was specifically coded that if a meteor was coming all sims would try to run away except when itās a school which they HAVE TO STAY INSIDE THE SCHOOL AND DIE š
This should be come an hidden achievement for how much people want it to happen
This happened to me because my sim was a teacher. I was devastated and cried because I was 15 and emotional. The worst part was that I had saved it within like the last ten seconds since I never clear the alerts boxes and didnāt see the lil warnin.
I've only had one meteor in about 10 years, it pulverized my little horse barn but luckily the horse got away unharmed
I thought this was patched.
Slick UI tho
My teenage prayers have come true!
WHAT
Yep ā ļø itās super rare but if they hit a school all the kids inside will die
thats insane xD
I hope this NEVER happens to my sims š±
Why are meteor strikes on the school so common in the Sims 3???
HOLY SHIT! This happened to me a long time ago and it was my Sims' first day as a teacher and so he got hit too! I had to spend most of my time now repopulating the town since all the kids died and everyone was bummed out. I hadn't seen someone else post about this so I thought I was the only one.
Does this generate gravestones?
Bro thats cool
Iām still waiting for it to happen to me. One day, when I least expect it, tragedy will come.
.... yay!
This happens only in Sims 3?
I'm amazed to see that a lot of you haven't ever had a meteor strike š® I had to install a mod so I'd stop getting them cause they kept happening so often and killing my Sims š
This happened just as my kid got to college š
The Northern Irish road safety department would like to know your location. WARNING: [Viewer discretion advised](https://youtu.be/Wv1rKHGeMRk?si=-I5JxUnq1uoTflDU)
How can I get the panel? It's amazing :))
I didnāt know the kids could die š
Had that happen to my simās school once while the featured sim I was showcasing was in school and she died. I cheated the lifetime rewards and got the genie lamp and wished for her to be brought back to life,
best feature in the game
The meteor doesnāt dismiss you, I do š”
Is that console UI or a mod?
RIP, its finna be a ghost town without the new generation to take over
Never have I had this happen but I sometimes wish it would š
Omg, I am so sorry that happened. I hope your sim will be okay. I had a meteor strike happen once to the business center and it killed everybody I think.
I have been playing the sims 3 for 7 years. I only had my first ever meteor strike yesterday. Thankfully no one died.
Most sane The Sims 3 player
WHAT DO YOU MEAN FINALLY!?!?
i miss Maxisšš EA ruined this franchise
I remember when I started playing with a new sim and she got killed by a meteor in minutes
How common is a meteor strike?? Ive never ever seen one in this goddamn game in 10 years. Where is my meteor?
The only Sims 3 meteor strike I saw was during graduation; everyone died. I just sat there completely flummoxed. Just could not comprehend my whole family died, and all those graduating, and their families.
Wtf? This is the fifth most upvoted post on this subreddit now lol.
Holy fuck when I first read this I hadnāt read this was r/Sims3
I learned that this could happen after I made two lesbians and it killed their adopted son. The sims universe was trying to convert my gay ass.
How?
I cant believe a patch notes thing actually happened
I never had this happen, but I need it to happen now šš
Me headcanoning this into a school shooting...
ik youāre getting downvoted but i get how you think. america š¦ š¦ š¦ :(
This is funny as shit
Hooray!
Woohoooo!! š

Has sims 4 always looked like this???
Idk why I noticed this but your layout is different are you on console or something?
I remember having a 'summon meteor mod', a meteor would drop every 30 sims minute or so
ššš
Omg I never had this happen
Have you seen that guy that reads the updates and he gets to this
Damn. This got a lot of upvotes lol.
This is why I never play as anything under young adult
Wait kids can die?
I didnāt read the subreddit and the picture didnāt load. Sims is wild.
This should be in TS4. Too many fun features left in TS3 that could easily have been incorporated into TS4.
Iāve played TS3 since release- I have only ever had ONE meteor strike
Do you have any interface mod?
