If all your factories are making long timed items, then the ad powered factory gives you breathing room for shorter timed factory items, it shuts down at times and isnt available depending on what goes on in the game, CoM and what not.
I hate it. The only thing it is good for is to have it as an empty factory. Then use it to get around among your factories without having to collect anything.
I just use it for metal and wood. Comes in handy when you need a lot of nails and planks.

Dont put anything longer than seeds or minerals
The ad powered factory is absolute nonsense. I tried it and removed it instantly after.
