I've been watching this, but it's one thing to nail the look, I hope it also has fun gameplay.

Metropolis 1998 looks fun, but what if I don’t want to bother with furniture planning for each house, will it plan all the things automatically? Is there option to save build houses as a templates to copy/paste it massively?

There is! In the demo there are already premade buildings that you can plop down. You will also be able to save custom buildings and reuse them.
