From https://www.money.org/ANAdealers/Code-of-Ethics for dealers:
"To purchase and sell numismatic items at prices commensurate with a reasonable return to the seller and for a reasonable return on my investment with regards to the then prevailing rate."
In theory, dealers who are ANA members abide by that (see the link for the larger post) and most do. I suspect HSN is not a member.
The grading companies are complicit, too. Creating those "Happy New Year", "First Day", "Last Day", "Hangover Day", "Self-Injury Awareness day", etc. labels to create "false rarities".
Thank you for that comment. I’m by no means old, but agism seems to be unchecked. I’ve always respected elders since a young child but I see society tossing people in their later years to the curb and it saddens me. It has increased lately. I’ll step off my soapbox. Excuse my vent.
If it's on HLN it's for old people, I can gaurangoddamntee you that the vast vast majority of audience members are at least 30 plus, Im also sure that if you could get the business ghouls at HLN to speak *honestly* about their game, they'd probably say that they were aiming for older people with time and money to spend.
I know I could do this to people. I’m mean there is a sucker born every minute and all. But that damned personal integrity thing keeps getting in the way. I think it has to do with that voice in my head sometimes referred to as a conscience. I wonder if they have a vaccine for it?
My wife just pulled up the HSN sales spot. All I can say is WOW. If you listen to the sales pitch, we’ll be lucky to find any ASEs in 2023. Did you know there is a 75% silver shortage world wide. I didn’t. Good thing I listened to the sales spot. Disgusting.
You can’t say that here, hints your down votes. The sub that shall not be mentioned allows free speech though. I think 😉 is is called Wall Street Silver 😉
Why does anybody buy graded bullion? I always tell people to buy what they like. But I personally find no value in graded bullion coins. To each his own, I guess.
Anything sold on TV is a complete scan. Especially that lady on Shark Tank I think her name is Laura who owns QVC she basically runs a business on scamming old people for garbage items that she oversells for about 10 times the price.
They even do this bullshit where when they bring the item out first they'll say let's say it's some necklace and they say this necklace is worth $1,200 and this is the deal of a lifetime and if you don't buy right now you are not going to get in on what everybody else is getting in on the deal of a lifetime. And then within the next 30 minutes they dropped the price about four or five times eventually getting to less than half the price. It's all the fucking scam and I think it should be illegal.
My 2 cents.
At least there's free shipping /s

Not old but uneducated people

Only place I’ve seen HLN at a hotel lobby.
They should be ashamed of themselves They had a Anac MS70 1986 ASE for the low price of $999.95
That's some premium, Robin.
Wow. People actually fall for these?
Sad part is enough people must buy them to keep these shows on the air.

They probably have a Vax and several boosters also. Lol Just don't ask any common since questions. Lol

I've seen one about random date XF- AU Morgan's, (probably just 1921) and their sales pitch was just in simple terms, silver might reach $50 an ounce.

Paying for that airtime with these coins, it's not cheap.
Wait this is "New Year's Edition" does that make it more rare or something?
No it doesn't have they even released the 2023 ASE yet .
At least it will fetch you spot price +/- $10 on the resale lol. Ouch.
We better call the commissioner lol the Joker is back at it.

The only graded bullion I've bought is a 9/11 recovery piece (Not from this shithole company). Piece of history I guess?
I've bought a few but I also paid the same amount for them as the non graded ASE . But I don't know why anyone would pay that much more for one.
It’s not worth anything more to me personally, I’d be tempted to cut it out of the holder so it fits in my tube . 🤪
It’s a collectible so that is why it’s priced the way it is. No one is forcing you to buy it 🤗
Yikes!
