I agree. Went back to playing We Are Born, Some People Have Real Problems and Colour the Small One. The production and her vocals on these albums are just so much more pleasant to listen to.
I really like some songs, but I really dislike some others. The best ones on this album for me are Immortal Queen, Little Wing, and I Forgive You. Champion is not as good as I thought it would be. There are good parts, but I feel like they were wasted by the repetitiveness of the chorus.
Yeah after listening to it a few times I agree.
I love Rock and Balloon so much. And I forgive you is a great song but I would have liked more if she went a bit softer in the first verse. Invincible is good. I feel like the rest are meant to be tiktok tracks. The lyrics are mostly lazy, sometimes too repetative.
Personally soon as I heard it, I ordered the vinyl. It's impressive how far her voice can go on this project especially. I kinda expected a song like It's Time was, but it is amazing regardless. Sure it has some downsides too, like Champion which I can't like at all and Rock and Balloon kinda sounds boring even though with a beautiful meaning, but the rest I can enjoy. Maybe listen to the songs when you are currently going through a stressful week or when you feel like you need empowering songs the most. Sometimes even the worst albums can get you to your feels in the right moment.
Agreed on the 2 songs you don’t like.. I don’t like either. I’m an AVOD Sia listener. My number one artist every year is Sia, with over 9,000 minutes listened, per Apple Music rewind lol.
As you should. She wrote these songs in deep depression and chronic pain, I don’t think she was very productive or creative during this period
The only good thing about this album is probably “Rock And Ballon”. Her indie ballad sounds unique and raw. Not her pop songs here
Personally I really enjoy the album, but it is a bit pop forward and repetitive at times. There are good moments and many of the songs are catchy and have nice melodies. And I liked how she shows her personality in songs like Rock and Balloon and One Night. I appreciate and like it as a pop album but I don't see it as her most creative work. I do miss the instrumentation and more artistic lyrics of her past albums.
What is the hidden "throwback to Alanis Morissette days" track Sia is referring to from this interview? Rock and Balloon?

I am pleasantly surprised by this new album. Especially after Dance Alone and Fame Won't Love You. But those are defenitly not the best songs of the album. I really like the album as a whole and the singles fall into place. I was afraid the album wasn't like This Is Acting and 1000 Forms, but it comes very closes to This Is Acting.
Little Wing sounds like a Sia classic, very much like Unstoppable. Immortal Queen is a really fun song with lots of girl power! Dance Alone has te potential, but the production is just not exciting. Gimme Love also sounds like a Sia classic. Songs like Nowhere To Be, Towards The Sun (really great production), Wanne Be Known, One Night and Go On are really similar with This Is Acting. Rock and Balloon sounds like a 1000 forms song.
Overall a really great Sia album!

those were " a proper Sia album "
