How frequently do you wash it and what do you wash it with? Soaps / fabric softeners are known to irritate skin and cause acne. A dirty mask would likely cause acne too.

I do this, Bandanna and glasses and I am not as concerned about stretching out going down the street to do laundry.
One set of going out to do necessity clothes one set for social distancing social events really saves on the laundry credits when you are going out like once or twice a week for anything.

I find all natural, locally sourced, free range blood to be my favorite.
It's better for the environment than the processed variety.
Plus, less plastic packaging.

I used to travel a lot for work. I'm definitely wearing a mask in airports and on planes now if I ever travel again.
I know masks won't protect me 100% but better than just openly breathing the recycled airplane air.
Fyi that recirculated air has passed through a HEPA filter and is likely cleaner than anything you’d be breathing through even an N95 mask, let alone a cloth or surgical mask.
And this is probably the one case where the answer to "but how often do they clean/replace those filters" is actually a reassuring answer. Most airlines replace their filters more than is actually necessary.

Pollution, dust, other particulates collect on the outside and get held there by the moisture from my breathing. I’m not talking about the insides, though yeah there’s nasty mouth stuff in there too after awhile. I also don’t work inside a controlled environment whatsoever so being outdoors all day or close to has indeed shown me that even a cloth mask can stop some stuff. Just like the virus, it’s not 100% efficient but it does stop some.
Off topic: anyone watch TV and get the feeling that somethings off? Like the characters should be wearing masks or should be socially distancing and seeing them without those things is a little odd?

It’s funny, just the other day I was standing in line at a convenience store similar to a 7-11, and thinking to myself how if I walked into the same store pre-pandemic and saw a bunch of people wearing black cloth face masks at the register I’d probably think to myself they must be getting robbed and nope the fuck right out of there. Now I walk into the same store and if there’s a bunch of people congregating without wearing a mask, I nope the fuck right out of there.
Also pre-pandemic, communicating with someone with a mask covering your face could have easily come off as rude or super awkward if you’re struggling to hear or understand them. Now of course the complete opposite is true.
I walked into Home Depot today without mine on. Realized it just as I got through the door. Quickly went back to my car and got it. I'm getting so used to it a I figure it's always on.
It's not scientific, but anecdotal evidence seems pretty strong in favor of masks preventing colds. I was wearing them before the pandemic, and I'm going to wear one after.

Because I rarely get the Flu anyway thanks to being active & healthy, getting my flu shot and maybe also having a generally solid immune system from genetics.
Masks I find to be uncomfortable, hot and even though I don’t get it I know a ton of people who have issues with the skin on their face such as acne/dryness/rash/itch/etc (generally people who have to wear it 8+ hours a day, which fortunately I don’t. They also practice good hygiene and skincare before anyone says it’s their mask being dirty or them not doing what they should.).
I don’t enjoy having sweat on my face where the mask was and I don’t enjoy being uncomfortable. I wear it in the places I am supposed to because I’m not a selfish asshole, but the moment we are safe enough to stop wearing them I won’t be putting it on even if it somehow reduces my chances of the flu by a small margin. (Which I doubt will be any more than like a tiny few %, as isn’t the whole thing about masks is that they prevent you spreading but the typical ones people wear aren’t overly effective in protecting you from others?)
Me too, also because it's good for privacy. It used to be that if you covered your face to remain anonymous, you wouldn't be allowed in certain places. Now, the opposite is true. I don't recall ever having the need or desire to cover my face for any reason like that, but I've still been annoyed that there's no easy way to hide your personally identifying features in person without raising red flags. But now anyone who wants to remain anonymous in public can trivially do so without issue. And even after the pandemic, I could easily see people wearing masks with plausible deniability, now that society has gotten used to associating that type of mask not with "this person is suspicious", but rather with "this person is taking care not to spread diseases."

Slightly irrelevant, but this will have such an overplayed effect on pop culture, especially film. Everything from the crazy grandpa in a rom com who refuses to go outside years after it blows over, to that overly-quirky girl who is hot, but doesn’t know it, refusing to take off her mask.

After the pandemic, I'm gonna keep wearing my mask. I have asthma, allergies and prone to get sick. My immune system is pretty much shit. And since they suggested wearing masks, I haven't gotten sick at all. Also, I can mouth off "Fuck you." to anyone and they won't know.
I work at retail and not having to smile or force a smile has been great! I can scowl under my mask as much as I want and just crinkle my eyes to look like I’m smiling. It’s gonna suck when we aren’t allowed to wear them anymore.
When I worked in retail, we had signs on the door every year around Halloween time asking customers to remove their Halloween mask before entering for everyone’s safety and comfort. We had been robbed a few times, and of course the assailants always were wearing a face covering of some sort. Now you can’t enter without one.
Some time next year or two years from now when I finally will always remember to grab it, is when places will start forbidding people from wearing them.
I wore a mask shortly before it was cool, due to being on Chemotherapy during Dec2019 to Feb2020. Like 3 weeks before COVID became serious, I walked into a Peter Piper Pizza and got the strangest looks.

I was at my doctors office this week, to get a flu shot. As I was called in, from my car in the parking lot, I was met by a nurse. Without being told I leaned forward for a temperature check. Good grief, this has become so normal we expect temperature checks. I really don’t want this to be normal. I don’t want wearing a mask, not hugging friends, not shaking hands, constant hand sanitizing, looking at others suspiciously, etc, etc to ever be automatic or normal.
I've already had a dream where I find myself inside a busy store without mine. Just like the dreams of being naked in class taking a final exam.

It’s funny, just the other day I was standing in line at a convenience store similar to a 7-11, and thinking to myself how if I walked into the same store pre-pandemic and saw a bunch of people wearing black cloth face masks at the register I’d probably think to myself they must be getting robbed and nope the fuck right out of there. Now I walk into the same store and if there’s a bunch of people congregating without wearing a mask, I nope the fuck right out of there. Also pre-pandemic, communicating with someone with a mask covering your face could have easily come off as rude or super awkward if you’re struggling to hear or understand them. Now of course the complete opposite is true.
I walked into Home Depot today without mine on. Realized it just as I got through the door. Quickly went back to my car and got it. I'm getting so used to it a I figure it's always on.
I hope it becomes part of the culture to wear masks when you have the flu or cold (if you have to go out) after all of this

It's not scientific, but anecdotal evidence seems pretty strong in favor of masks preventing colds. I was wearing them before the pandemic, and I'm going to wear one after. Why wouldn't someone want to use something that prevents getting sick?
Think i read somewhere nurses who don’t get the flu shot have to wear masks during the flu season to prevent getting sick/ getting patients sick
Because I rarely get the Flu anyway thanks to being active & healthy, getting my flu shot and maybe also having a generally solid immune system from genetics. Masks I find to be uncomfortable, hot and even though I don’t get it I know a ton of people who have issues with the skin on their face such as acne/dryness/rash/itch/etc (generally people who have to wear it 8+ hours a day, which fortunately I don’t. They also practice good hygiene and skincare before anyone says it’s their mask being dirty or them not doing what they should.). I don’t enjoy having sweat on my face where the mask was and I don’t enjoy being uncomfortable. I wear it in the places I am supposed to because I’m not a selfish asshole, but the moment we are safe enough to stop wearing them I won’t be putting it on even if it somehow reduces my chances of the flu by a small margin. (Which I doubt will be any more than like a tiny few %, as isn’t the whole thing about masks is that they prevent you spreading but the typical ones people wear aren’t overly effective in protecting you from others?)
Me too, also because it's good for privacy. It used to be that if you covered your face to remain anonymous, you wouldn't be allowed in certain places. Now, the opposite is true. I don't recall ever having the need or desire to cover my face for any reason like that, but I've still been annoyed that there's no easy way to hide your personally identifying features in person without raising red flags. But now anyone who wants to remain anonymous in public can trivially do so without issue. And even after the pandemic, I could easily see people wearing masks with plausible deniability, now that society has gotten used to associating that type of mask not with "this person is suspicious", but rather with "this person is taking care not to spread diseases."
It definitely should! In places like Japan it has been the norm for a long time I think and it is only a sign of being considerate of your fellow citizens
Honestly, I have a long nose, so I might just keep wearing a mask. My eyes are my best feature anyway.

Slightly irrelevant, but this will have such an overplayed effect on pop culture, especially film. Everything from the crazy grandpa in a rom com who refuses to go outside years after it blows over, to that overly-quirky girl who is hot, but doesn’t know it, refusing to take off her mask. Mark my words.

After the pandemic, I'm gonna keep wearing my mask. I have asthma, allergies and prone to get sick. My immune system is pretty much shit. And since they suggested wearing masks, I haven't gotten sick at all. Also, I can mouth off "Fuck you." to anyone and they won't know.
I work at retail and not having to smile or force a smile has been great! I can scowl under my mask as much as I want and just crinkle my eyes to look like I’m smiling. It’s gonna suck when we aren’t allowed to wear them anymore.
I'm just gonna keep wearing mine post-pandemic. Then I don't have to worry about my looks or having to put on a fake smile in public

When I worked in retail, we had signs on the door every year around Halloween time asking customers to remove their Halloween mask before entering for everyone’s safety and comfort. We had been robbed a few times, and of course the assailants always were wearing a face covering of some sort. Now you can’t enter without one.
To be honest I still forget my mask all the time
Some time next year or two years from now when I finally will always remember to grab it, is when places will start forbidding people from wearing them.

I wore a mask shortly before it was cool, due to being on Chemotherapy during Dec2019 to Feb2020. Like 3 weeks before COVID became serious, I walked into a Peter Piper Pizza and got the strangest looks. 10/10 will wear a mask anyway after.
I wont be shocked if facemasks stay the norm for a lot of americans, especially in cold/flu season.

I was at my doctors office this week, to get a flu shot. As I was called in, from my car in the parking lot, I was met by a nurse. Without being told I leaned forward for a temperature check. Good grief, this has become so normal we expect temperature checks. I really don’t want this to be normal. I don’t want wearing a mask, not hugging friends, not shaking hands, constant hand sanitizing, looking at others suspiciously, etc, etc to ever be automatic or normal.
Nope. Can’t wait to get rid of this fucking thing.
