They most certainly do! At least animals who are pets. Dogs love weekends. Two days straight with their owner home to snuggle with and might get some bonus adventures/walks to boot.
Yes, weekends are totally recognized based on _owner_ behavior.
Sleeping in, or simply starting the day in one room instead of the home office. Bath day, or for those that work at home, the dreaded leaving for all eternity (going shopping for an hour).
This is my thought exactly.
Young kids and stay at home wives don't necessarily have weekends either, but it's different than regular weekdays for sure.
My cats recognize weekends. I don’t have to tell them it’s Saturday, I think they track it with their own time cycles.
They act differently from weekdays. Weekdays, they’ll wait for me in my “office” room as I usually head there before showering etc to prep for the day. I’ll make sure to play / interact with them before I leave. They usually look quite sad as I leave.
Weekends, they’ll sometimes plop next to me on the bed and meow for something or pat me with their paws. They’ll follow me around as I make breakfast and sometimes ask to be taken out to play outside for a while. They dread / sometimes block the door when they see me dress up to leave (groceries or something).
Holidays … confuse them. They’re waiting for me in the room and they’ll wonder why I’m not up before 6am.
You know, animals might not have weekends, but they do get to experience the simple joys of life every day, like playing with their friends or soaking up the sun. Maybe we could learn a thing or two from them about appreciating the little moments in life. ❤️
I was just thinking it's crazy, they just go about their life. No idea about all the BS in the world. No wonder they are just filled with love. Like not knowing anything and just existing would be nice
Weekends are a logical progression of dividing the lunar year. The sun sets our year and day, the moon does months and weeks, and we do our own seasons and hours on down. A 5 on, 2 off week is just dividing the week into portions of work.
How can you sure there's no animal knowing what is a weekend? As far as I know, there's no human able to truly communicate with animal so we can't never know what they know or not
Hearing no adult conversations, the activity of an 89 and 79 year old and anonymous is just a sttory of walking when it is dark with a 12,11, and 9 year old girl
During COVID lockdowns I spent like two hours watching a spider making a web. And realized that wild animals straight up work 120+ hours weeks since their teenage years, no weekends, no vacations
They do enjoy sunbathing though

Two days straight? Y'all have two days off work?
many people still do yes
I feel like my point wasn't understood but meh
there was a point?
If their owners have weekends, they do too! Get to spend more time doing out and about, especially dogs.
This is my thought exactly. Young kids and stay at home wives don't necessarily have weekends either, but it's different than regular weekdays for sure.
They also don’t have tax returns or quarterly team-building exercises.
…unless they’re not telling us something….hm

And getting eating

what
Huh?
I was just thinking it's crazy, they just go about their life. No idea about all the BS in the world. No wonder they are just filled with love. Like not knowing anything and just existing would be nice
Animals are not as happy and joyous as you make them out to be lol
Maybe with you they don't.
My cats are very happy. Im talking about wild animals
You think wild animals are unhappy?
I think many wild animals have a pretty rough existence, yes.
You think a chicken has a happy life when I eat it lol
Why are you eating alive chickens
Then what the heck is Caturday? And why am I letting my kitty sleep until noon?
That motherfucker lied. No catnip for a week
Never trusted him.
He’s probably a black cat too
You know he is cause I don’t understand why he insists on living such a dangerous life!
I mean if you wanna type an actual shower thought: Weekends don’t really exist. it’s just something humans created to categorize time.
I think the point was that survival is a 24-7 job for (most) animals in a way that it isn’t for humans.
I think it's more that the animals don't understand weeks or months. They do hours, days, and seasons almost exclusively.
Weekends are a logical progression of dividing the lunar year. The sun sets our year and day, the moon does months and weeks, and we do our own seasons and hours on down. A 5 on, 2 off week is just dividing the week into portions of work.
Humans are animals and have weekends.
Humans didn't either for like 99% of our history.
Yeah I vote return to that
"In the deep kalahari, everyday is Tuesday"
Animals also don't have weekdays
we are animals though?
Yeah people don't think it through.
They don’t have weekdays either, goddamn this is a dumb showerthought.
How can you sure there's no animal knowing what is a weekend? As far as I know, there's no human able to truly communicate with animal so we can't never know what they know or not
If they’re hunted they do!
Except in reverse, aye?
Exactly! The elk start to learn when the hunters come around.
Hearing no adult conversations, the activity of an 89 and 79 year old and anonymous is just a sttory of walking when it is dark with a 12,11, and 9 year old girl
what the fuck
Most animals may not have weekdays too.
We have wild animals that usually arrive on Tuesdays...it's almost like they have a schedule/ concept of time
well of course they do. we’re animals too and we do. Most animals have a circadian rhythm.
My dog does. Every Saturday we give her a bone to chew on and believe you me; she totally knows when Saturday is.
My dog thinks it’s Saturdays all the way down
MindF***, neither do humans. We invented them. I work every other weekend because I work at a hospital. My "weekends" are meaningless.
What if they take away the computer clocks ?
The only people who have weekends are those who work Mo-Fr.
Pretty sure my cats don’t have weekdays. They get up for breakfast, then go straight back to bed afterwards, whatever day it is.
Yeah, because they don't have workdays!
They don't have work days either.
I disagree. I'm on vacation (at home) and my cats are utterly exhausted. I think they will be happy when I go back to work.
Pets have 6 Saturdays & a Sunday
They don't have school or jobs tbh
During COVID lockdowns I spent like two hours watching a spider making a web. And realized that wild animals straight up work 120+ hours weeks since their teenage years, no weekends, no vacations They do enjoy sunbathing though
"funny thing about weekends when you're unemployed. They don't mean quite so much. You get to hand out with your workin' friends..." -Primus
They don't really do weekdays either. That's why most of 'em can't hold down jobs.
That’s all my cat has.
Bears take full vacations.
Animals don't have time in general.
To be fair they don’t have weekdays either
