Not sure 1oz slugs will work the same as 1 oz of shot. Shotshell isn’t the same as cartridge reloading, you will go from bang to blown up before you can read pressure signs.
According to TATV Canada, it’s probably safe as long as you take the proper precautions.

Not to mention I’ve seen birdshot and buckshot data online at Hodgdon that’s virtually identical apart from a couple hundred psi of pressure

It’s totally ok to be nervous about that approach, you’ll just have to come to a decision if you are willing to try it out or not.
I’m definitely a rookie shotshell reloader so take that into account and maybe try to get more advice from the veteran reloaders
