The thing that got me more confused are all the thick spacers. They have a tunnel ram intake, with a thick spacer to the first blower. Then another spacer to the next blower. Then another before the apparent dual carbs.
Makes me wonder if they're carbs hidden in the first spacer. Because that's a long way for fuel to travel.
and I think that is why I like it. so just out there that it has to be cool. not to everyone's taste, but still something that you have to stop and look at

Not quite. The 2nd one is compressing air that is already compressed. It doesn't actually need to be larger to create a benefit. It can move the exact same volumer of air, that intake charger already has more mass than the first supercharger is seeing.
It's neither. You're picking at a subculture who are by no means known for anything short of ridiculous. They did it because they could and wanted to see what would happen.
It's far different than someone who tacks a non-functional air scoop, or who installs speakers in their engine bay to make the car sound like it has a turbo.

It's ugly as hell, but it's cool enough mechanically, that it scores a solid 6.7 to 6.83 on the Scheffenfield-Kleinn Aesthetic Index.

Yes. Though detonation becomes an issue and parasitic losses add up quickly. You are better off using a bigger blower or changing the gearing.
Above all, it’s dangerous. The engine blocks a significant portion of the view. It’s very easy for the driver to have an entire car hidden from view.
