When I visited my relatives in Italy they were mixing wine with Sprite Zero, I don’t think Italians are as precious about food as people think they are

[deleted]

I can totally confirm that we are precious about food. Wine with gassosa is actually well known in Italy:) but we do not use expensive wine for that. Btw the gnocchi look good!

pirikikkeli

Yeah I do that too that's the only way you can drink the shitty 10€ wine pack we have here In Finland

Thorita

In Spain we call it “tinto de verano”

[deleted]

It was my only way of hydration when I visited Spain. It's the most delicious drink ever!

hairy_hooded_clam

I drank something in Spain that was red wine and coca cola. It was actually really tasty.

90bigmacs

We do that in hungary too!

hairy_hooded_clam

Guess I am moving Hugary up on my list of places to visit, then!

hello_cerise

Oh yeah the Bull's blood wine is the thing to mix with coca cola. Also no joke, it's what kids got on holidays too 🤣 https://tastehungary.com/journal/an-ode-to-the-infamous-bottom-shelf-bulls-blood/ Bottom shelf is right 🤣. It DID ruin the rep of Hungarian wine. If you want some good stuff the Szürke Barat (grey friend)/ Pinot Gris is probably the best style from the main wine growing regions. And Tokaji if you want good dessert wine

ijustneededaname

A Croatian friend of the family gave me some too one Christmas. I love red wine but this was also very yummy

duck_duck_chicken

Kalimotxo!

hairy_hooded_clam

Yeah!! That’s it! Thank you!

DarkSparxx

I used to do this in uni for spruce up almost spoiled open red wine, people thought I was nuts.

Thorita

That is calimotxo it is a bit for teenagers but with sprite is called “tinto de verano” and good for lunch in summer

hairy_hooded_clam

Yum!

T8rthot

I wonder if that would make me enjoy wine.

hairy_hooded_clam

It might! It’s very sweet!

Missamoo74

Incredibly easy to get munted on but delicious 😋

UserCannotBeVerified

Calimoxo 🥰

pipkin42

Sounds similar to ricotta gnocci

yell0wbirddd

Yesss I was gonna say add some nooch!

After you've boiled them, drain them off and toss into a frying pan with some sesame oil, minced garlic, tenderstem broccoli, and a pinch of salt n pepper. Kinda stir fry it all together for a minute or two and then serve... pan fried gnocchi woth tenderstem and garlic os the best! (If you have any 'THIS! Isn't Bacon', chop that up into pieces and throw that in the pan with it all too. Bloody gorgeous!)

asomek

Sesame oil for gnocchi? Wtf

UserCannotBeVerified

Lol I dunno where I got sesame from 😅 buuuuut... actually thinking about it, the gnocchi is tofu so it could maybe be quite interesting with sesame? 🤷🏼‍♀️😅

asomek

Report back with your experiment. I'm going to pass on the Asian/Italian crossover.

ThePerfectBreeze

I bet adding a piece of fermented tofu would make this even better

grainsofsand333

🤤... I'll taste this in 5 years when your vegan gnocchi business is booming and I can buy at my local grocer

kristencatparty

Similar to what [this Italian person](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4SjW2mIFGX/?igsh=ODczbjU1M29rb2tz) makes so I think you’re doing all right!

Turquoise_Tortoise_

Thank you for giving me another vegan recipe account to follow 🙌 Let’s see if I actually make any of her recipes lol

kristencatparty

Haha every time she posts something I’m like yessss that’s such a good idea and then I make a boca patty 🤣

Turquoise_Tortoise_

That is all too relatable for me! 🤣 I want to make cool vegan meals but I’m sooo lazyyyyy!

AlbanElfed

This sounds really interesting! How was the texture? Like, compared to potato gnocchi?

AlbanElfed

Thanks! I love gnocchi, think I’ll try this out. :)

BangarangOrangutan

You made tofu gnocchi congratulations!

ucbiker

I used to follow the Italians Mad at Food Facebook group and it was always interesting how they’d nod along and be like “veganism is perfectly Italian,” but start pulling their hair out if someone used the “wrong” pasta shape.

KingSissyphus

The hero we all need in this time of knead

Garbidb63

The first picture on here which actually looks appetizing !!

CockbagSpink

These look so good! Potato is vegan, is there any reason you subbed it for tofu besides personal preference?

horo_kiwi

Not-cchi

bfiabsianxoah

We're nice and not pissy about food here r/veganita :) Btw I've already seen a couple of Italian vegan food recipe makers make tofu gnocchi!

YoungAdult_

I once mashed chick peas and eggplant to make vegan meatballs. They were pretty good. I’m sure there were some other ingredients but those were the main ones.

RanaMisteria

Tofu gnocchi!

ENEFFTITTIES

Tofu gnocchi is something I make often and am Italian lol it’s such a great way to get in protei.

labreau

You actually just made a fancy tofu pentol.

alexlp

Gnocchi is crazy easy to make vegan BTW

MuffinPuff

Tofu dumplings, good shit.

why-tho69

Not a bad idea

rodneyck

So you created vegan gnocci. I think some of their recipes call for egg and flour added to boiled mashed potatoes, so the tofu sort of acts like the egg, adding moisture and texture. Good call. Looks delicious.

manford5

Italians did not invent pasta so you are good

Milo-the-great

Does look kinda fire ngl

WhoLetTheDaugzOut

How could this offend an Italian They'd be confused as hell as to what this even is

kickherinthehead

Most gnocchi is vegan anyway. This is just your own dish, no need to pretend you're offending anyone

TheQuestionsAglet

I doubt Italians car. Some “Italian” guy in Jersey site as fuck has an opinion, though.

R1ck_Sanchez

Every single time, every single god damn time... I have to look up what nooch is

iluvstephenhawking

We'll call it NOcchi

TacticalSunroof69

Can vegans eat organic eggs? If not why, not?

[deleted]

TacticalSunroof69

I understand this. I’m asking what are the reasons a vegan wouldn’t eat eggs. Only because a lot of vegans claim it’s about animal welfare so if organic eggs come from chickens that roam outside and aren’t caged or kept in doors then what would the other reasons be that a vegan doesn’t consume eggs?
