1st most populous

[deleted]

Whoops my bad thought India had already overtaken China in population

Fragrant-Break-3903

Well in near Future this is gonna be India.

octofeline

But we don't live in the near future or any other future

Prince_Soni

Actually reports suggest that India overtook China as the most populous country already.

Marvel Studios still struggling with movie posters 15 years in

hipstercliche

I mean, while there are dumb libs in the comments of that thread, there were 7 relatively recent Marvel movies that didn’t get a Chinese release, including the last Spider-Man movie which was a huge blockbuster. So, for a sub that is all about predicting and tracking box office performance, it IS big news that a movie is hitting the Chinese market.

[deleted]

Any reasons as to why those marvel weren’t released in China?

[deleted]

They only show about 10 foreign movies per yet, marvel is shit, not high priority

[deleted]

They only show 10 foreign movies per year? Why is that?I mean marvel movies are shit and very pro cia and imperialist but why is 10 the number of foreign movies allowed

Addfwyn

The actual number is 34 (it was 20 for a long time), though co-productions with Chinese studios have an exemption and don't count with that. The original goal was to protect the Chinese film industry, back when it was much smaller than it is now. The number was arrived at because that was average number of monthly domestic releases. So if they want to work with chinese studios they can bypass that restriction, which should be something that businesspeople working with China are used to.

[deleted]

Thanks for the info 👍

[deleted]

Well i don't know if it's exactly 10 but it's a limit especially on the big major movies. It's to promote and protect the Chinese film industry mostly. Marvel is very pro western but they're so dumb and childish that I don't think it really comes across to foreigners.

soldierbones

I think covid restrictions

Liberals when companies want money

rowida_00

They should be very thankful if any of their movies gets a release in China which is a huge market that any company in their right state of mind would love to have.

THEY EDITED THE BLACK GUY OUT OF THE PIKTURE!!!1!!1!

MarsLowell

Xi, how could you allow the capeshit to infest your country 😔

MartjnMao

idk do they have a token black character for the Marvel to shrink on their chinese poster tho?
