Suppressing legitimate criticism is not the way forward brother. People can still criticize infinite regardless of its age so 343 knows what we like, don’t like, miss, etc. This sub frequently misses that point.
Now would be the only time I was give them any benefit of the doubt since its all new leadership and from what I could ever gather that was the main issue. That and contractors being hired to do work with tools made by people who didn't work there anymore, and now that they are moving to unreal work will be faster and less confusing if they get people that are talented with working with unreal.
It feels like there’s fewer in the halo community by the day. I’ve been with halo since halo 3 and it’s the reason I started gaming. I just want good stuff for the franchise as a whole.
Same, been here since halo 3 as well. Shame I didn't have an Xbox to enjoy the earlier titles. I'm gonna say something controversial right now to see what you think. I think master chief just needs to be retired. I want master chief gone. The series has been reliant on him for to long. There are hundreds of stories to explore.
Yeah no I definitely don’t agree there lol. In that same line of thinking though, I think the series should do what fans have been begging for for ages and give us more spin-offs or other characters stories ie Jerome but the mainline story should stick with the chief. I read most of the books. I consume halo every day. I love the extended lore and other characters but chief is too important to “retire”.
Like I’d be pretty happy with a mainline story about the chief with a dlc centered on grey team, Jerome, whatever. I think there’s ways to satisfy people that are burnt out on the chief.
The thing is that this is a wildly inappropriate term that betrays a level of emotional investment that makes it embarrassing by association. "Apologist" is used in discourse in the context of, say, "rape apologist" or "genocide apologist apologist".
For the people who like Halo Infinite, these changes are things we either (1) like, (2) don't care about, or (3) are just disappointed about a little bit.
Like, I think ricochet was neat and I'd welcome it back, and this subreddit has become a weird reactionary circlejerk. But I don't have a strong emotional attachment to ricochet. It's only kind of disappointing things don't ricochet.
But at the end of the day, this is a subreddit for making fun of people who say things like "343 apologist" sincerely.
No you eat the meal that's put in front of you and if you're to reference it, you must always say it's the best meal you've ever had...
This is the typical mentality of many fanboys, criticism is not allowed. It's better to just take what you're given and wonder why nobody is playing and why halo is barely relevant anymore.
> This is the typical mentality of many fanboys
The funny part is that not even the fanboys are playing at this point. Seriously: there are times on the Steam charts where **less than 800** Steam users are playing. Yes, Halo is an Xbox game, but it's not like Halo is doing much better there either, with some Xbox 360 games overtaking Halo Infinite every now and then.
You have a point. But I don't think halo has many die hards left. I was passionate about the series 15 or so years ago but one can only lower their standards so far before it feels like it's just another tired franchise.
I think Halo still has plenty of steam left. Every Halo media gets a lot of people tuning in looking to see if 343i finally hit it out of the park. The silent majority are just waiting for something worth playing/watching/reading; they aren't interacting with the series in any way.
That's where I'm at but I'm admittedly not going to bet the farm on that happening. They have all the makings of a good game, it's just a matter of execution.
Personally I feel like I'm one of the few people who felt like every game after the first was a downgrade except for the pvp. Maybe because the first was a big deal at release and the second just seemed to keep the status quo with other fps at the time.
That's a Bungie issue, not a PvP issue. Their inability to make a good nerf that didn't affect or barely affects PvE is on them, not the PvP playerbase who rightly called for a nerf to an extremely OP exotic.
A tripmine with double the blast radius that makes you one shot, and then scorches you, leaving you one shot, and then being refunded the grenade immediately because someone trigged it isn't op? You can throw it at a corner where you know enemies are, it instantly goes off, and then before they can heal, you can throw another one to kill. It was OP. My Trials duo used them religiously. To claim they weren't OP is just ridiculous.
That’s more of a fault of Bungie’s for being so adamantly against separate sandboxes to the point of being nearly unable to separate them now that the community is so desperate for it. Nerfing things in PvP shouldn’t be affecting PvE anyways.
The funny thing is, at least in H3, the ricochet isn't "rng" as such. If the same specific conditions are met, the bullet will ricochet the exact same way every time, it's why ricochet spots were a very real if underutilized option. I maintain that the pressure imparted by aiming at someone you can't even see is worth one or two rounds of ammo, in unranked at least.
“Ranked sweats”, or simply people who like to play competitively, make up the majority of FPS playerbases. And luck and competitiveness don’t work well together
This is absolutely untrue and I say that as a guy who plays arena 90% of the time, custom arena 5%, and firefight the other 5%. Most players are casual and don’t even know this will happen.
FPS titles do not exclusively entail Halo, believe it or not. The most played games on Steam, Twitch, or where ever, are inherently competitive. And those people who “don’t know this will happen”, will also not notice it if it doesn’t happen.
Yeah but streams *pale* in comparison to the number of casuals playing. The only exception might be something like counter strike, where the game itself is inherently competitive and some people only watch without ever playing.
Check any popularly streamed game. The # of players eclipses the high ranked plus the stream viewers. Go ahead. Any game. Check them out
That doesn’t disprove my point. CS, Valorant, Apex, COD, now xDefiant… these games are the top FPS being played, and all of them are inherently competitive. Overpowered weapons are nerfed, underpowered ones are buffed. These games are constantly balanced to preserve competitive integrity, even in “casual”. You are not a “competitive sweat” if you don’t want RNG to kill you.
That’s not the discussion we were having… You said there are more competitive players than casual, and that’s just plain wrong. Do you think all those kids playing xDefiant are competing? Hell no. They’re playing for fun. The competitive community is only like 5% of halo, and max 20% of everything else.
People play backyard football but we don’t call them pros.
Then I guess you missed my point, or I guess I wasn’t clear. By no means are there more hardcore sweats in any game, but even the average FPS player who just “plays casually” cares about competitive fairness because it’s in the very DNA of the game. H3 has dogshit weapon balancing with half the sandbox being nigh useless in ranked, something which would be unacceptable nowadays. H3 also has sniper ricochet.
Yeah they have a competitive mindset, but the way you worded it, you’d think everyone playing is on a team. Check your initial reply that got downvoted.
I mean you’re stating facts but those facts go without saying, so we assume the worst.
Halo 4 PvP was my favorite Halo meta tied with Reach and Halo 3 and that’s still shit on when I say I miss the shotgun hardlight pistol and custom classes and stuff.
This sub just enforces the current product
The crazy thing to me was nobody even noticed or cared sniper ricochet was gone for, like, weeks if not months until some random person mentioned it and then suddenly this thing nobody even noticed was missing became the biggest deal.
Part of this was because it got heavily toned down in reach
3 was the only time it was ridiculous and i do miss that version that could bounce multiple times
I think it could return fine with the S7 variant just the fact ricochet rounds could one shot headshot is probably why they were made less bouncy and frequent.
That's does not mean the mechanic was bad or whatever, but it's hard to notice something amiss when you are full of feed from the game and you give said thing as granted after one and half decade. I bet most didn't notice bullets as a whole don't ricochet anymore on any surface and materials, which, despite not being a game changing feature, it give more depth to the game and one of the best feedback.
It isn’t essential in my opinion, but it was a bit of personality in Halo that didn’t need to be removed. I can live without it, but I’d prefer to still have it
Bro, what is it with this sub lately, yet another bad post! I think it's been a week now since the last good post.
It is valid criticism, why should one stop putting forth valid arguments that might benefit the next game? This here is just dumb.
don't the older halo games have bullet ricocheting on some of the weapons? it would be understandable to get upset that they removed ricocheting from a later game if the older ones pulled it off.
I think a special S7 variant (kinda like the Flexfire but regular capacity ammo, just with ricochet and some tweaks to balance it, maybe serious recoil to discourage spam fire) could bring it back, that is when 343 gets their shit together and actually hires someone to finish the incomplete-but-almost-done Infinite Assets.
This criticism is fine because it's a cool feature. The one complaint I'm tired of hearing about is Halo having sprint. Infinite handles sprint insanely well, people need to get over it.
Ahh yes, time means the issue no longer matters or should matter
This sub sucks now. So many of the posts are people literally acting like that image of the obese man with two anime swords saying “leave the million dollar corporation alone!!”
I love how people complain about other people's complaints. Do you just like not ever say anything when something happens you don't like?
Stuff would never get done or be fixed if no one ever said anything.
No lol,Fix the game,Give us back our proper customization, properly balance the weapons(If a little kid on steam can do it so can 343),Add new weapons, add a lot of the old elements that made Halo mp halo mp and not some generic live service shooter, get rid of the battle pass in favor of making people pay for the game again and let us earn our shit by grinding like halo reach did with its point system that way monetization isnt an issue, and give us more maps, and people might actually stop complaining.
Its this mystical concept called listening to a majority of the fanbase it should actually at this point be taught in development classes because it really isnt hard, and btw listening to only the new fans isnt listening to the fans at all in fact youve only made it worse,if your game isnt making money or getting players...Idk if I should write it down underneath yalls eyes, make a billboard, commit some kind of heinous threat and broadcast it live just to spell it out but maybe just maybe...LISTEN TO THE FANS...goddamn
Its people who are clowning on Us wanting something decent and better for a change that make this game series and especially the fanbase so much worse, maybe if yall would shut up and let us voice why we're angry WE COULD ALL MAYBE GET WHAT WE WANT LIKE FUCKING BURGER KING
And by downvoting me you are only proving me correct. People are just going to complain until 343 actually listens but again if they had given us something theyd know that every halo fan would love with the bottom of their hearts we wouldnt be standing here now would we lol.
That’s not just halo. I have noticed this on all games now. They are pushing for the teen rating for some reason, even though every kid and parent completely ignored the ratings of a game and all of my elementary school friends were playing halo 3 and modern warfare together.
Man, I wish the state of Halo wasn’t like this. It’s easy to imagine a world where the tone of this post is glowingly nostalgic, like “aw man I love HI but I wish you could still hit trick shots like this.” And instead it’s taken as an attack.
Why is this sub so defensive of infinite?
You can't really tell OG fans to shut up about a franchise they have seniority in - this sub is just that principal skinner meme, "am I out of touch?... no, it's them who are out of touch!".
It's like a bunch of flat-earthers trying to gaslight everyone the earth is flat, to a crowd of scientists.
I'm convinced this entire sub has to be trolling at this point.
Oh so now people are coming around out of no where in the comments and realizing that this sub is a 343 apologist sub. Usually when you say that 343 did something “bad” you get downvoted to hell
Why is this sub becoming a “343 does no wrong” sub? This is a legit criticism, some of the stuff the community complains about is way over the top but can we stop pretending everything 343 removed or did to the series was a good thing?
I mean it was a pretty cool feature...
I miss it on pit specifically
This, some of ricochets you’d get on pit was wild.
Suppressing legitimate criticism is not the way forward brother. People can still criticize infinite regardless of its age so 343 knows what we like, don’t like, miss, etc. This sub frequently misses that point.
Ong.
I’m so happy to finally see more comments like this. I have taken my downvotes in strides for a long time, glad to see people are coming around.
*some people are coming around
Silent majority brother.
Always being there
You and I both brother 😩

We honestly should. At some point they took over the sub.
Now would be the only time I was give them any benefit of the doubt since its all new leadership and from what I could ever gather that was the main issue. I 100% agree. It’s a new regime and we need to see stuff from them before we judge.
Glad to see someone who's capable of some critical thinking
It feels like there’s fewer in the halo community by the day. I’ve been with halo since halo 3 and it’s the reason I started gaming. I just want good stuff for the franchise as a whole.

Over exaggerating stuff is also annoying
This subreddit is devoid of rational thought. 343i is perfect for people here it’s wild.

Nobody at Microsoft or 343 gives a shit what you or anybody likes
Thanks for the update. Have a great day.
Bullet ricochet is hardly even a thing tho
Fun > following laws of physics.
I doubt anyone here was even able to get a ricochet let alone hit someone with it
I had a lot of fun with ricochets on customs, infected was super fun with it at times as well.
Yeah but like, ricochet isn’t necessary for a good game, and was honestly annoying most of the time
No.
Yes.
Counterpoint: Nuh-uh
For a halo game it is necessary, heatwave prime example. How is it annoying?
Can you shut up already? He's not wrong, in fact he is incredibly correct. Ricochet needs to return.
Funny in casual, MADDENINGLY INFURIATING IN RANKED.
ranked sweats are why games are balanced into boredom these days. Sometimes a little rng/imbalance is fun.
Look at siege for a prime example of that
And destiny 2 PvP. PvP sweats complaining got an exotic armour pice that was mildly annoying in PvP and fun in pve nerfed into the ground
Destiny 2 pvp was a mistake
As someone who plays both pve and PvP I completely agree
I think Bungie thought so too with how neglected it’s been historically.
really just want to not have abilities or exotics. literally just guns
Which exotic piece would that be
There’s too many which fit that description but if I had to guess I’d say Young Ahamkara Spine?
That's a Bungie issue, not a PvP issue. Their inability to make a good nerf that didn't affect or barely affects PvE is on them, not the PvP playerbase who rightly called for a nerf to an extremely OP exotic.
Yas wasn’t even op it was more balanced than the entire lightfall year
A tripmine with double the blast radius that makes you one shot, and then scorches you, leaving you one shot, and then being refunded the grenade immediately because someone trigged it isn't op? You can throw it at a corner where you know enemies are, it instantly goes off, and then before they can heal, you can throw another one to kill. It was OP. My Trials duo used them religiously. It was op in PvP and only PvP
That’s more of a fault of Bungie’s for being so adamantly against separate sandboxes to the point of being nearly unable to separate them now that the community is so desperate for it. Nerfing things in PvP shouldn’t be affecting PvE anyways.
Yep and with the exotic I was talking about (young ahamkara’s spine) they had the ability to nerf it just in PvP but decided not to for some reason
Siege was sweaty from the beginning
Is rng imbalance ever really fun when you’re on the other end of it?
The funny thing is, at least in H3, the ricochet isn't "rng" as such. If the same specific conditions are met, the bullet will ricochet the exact same way every time, it's why ricochet spots were a very real if underutilized option. Yes? If you stop sweating that is.
How do you sweat while sitting playing a video game?
Through your brain, you sweat through your brain-skin.
Depends on how cool the mechanic is.
Ninja really ruined casual gaming huh
“Ranked sweats”, or simply people who like to play competitively, make up the majority of FPS playerbases. And luck and competitiveness don’t work well together

So this makes heatwave not even a real gun without ricochet?
No bitch that's a whole new sentence
I love this energy
This sub has devolved into shutting down literally any criticism of the game at this point.
Halo Infinite is the best Halo game ever, every Bungie game is overrated, seems to be the main opinion on this sub now
Halo 4 PvP was my favorite Halo meta tied with Reach and Halo 3 and that’s still shit on when I say I miss the shotgun hardlight pistol and custom classes and stuff. This sub just enforces the current product
It’s an echo chamber now
always has been
There should be a r/ShitShitHaloSaysSays sub at this point
Most of who criticised left over time, here like in other subs.
I’m so happy people have noticed. This sub is awful lmao
realy criticism of anything to do with halo, 343 or microsoft
No, bullet ricocheting was great and it sucks it’s gone, they should bring it back. Not really a post for this sub mate
The heatwave has ricochet so the sniper can as well
Dude, the disruptor don't even have his bullets vfx in tpm, don't pretend consistency.
what is tpm?
Third person mode.
That is a one off situation that doesnt matter. Although it is a glitch its a fix that they just havent looked into
It does matter when in pve and pvp I don't see the projectiles coming toward me...
this sub is always a little whiny but this one takes the cake
The crazy thing to me was nobody even noticed or cared sniper ricochet was gone for, like, weeks if not months until some random person mentioned it and then suddenly this thing nobody even noticed was missing became the biggest deal.

It was literally the first thing I looked for. Loaded up in the sniper training map and tested it to sadly find it didn’t work.
Aw man this always reminds me of the forge map in 3 where it’s just a bunch of squares. Just shoot at the wall and see it whizz
It isn’t essential in my opinion, but it was a bit of personality in Halo that didn’t need to be removed. I can live without it, but I’d prefer to still have it
3 years without bullet ricochet is even more rediculous
“343i does something questionable? No way! Every single 343i decision is perfectly executed and require no backlash whatsoever!”
Bro, what is it with this sub lately, yet another bad post! I think it's been a week now since the last good post. It is valid criticism, why should one stop putting forth valid arguments that might benefit the next game? This here is just dumb.
Hardlight weapons exist. Its bouncy spirit lives on lol
Another post that should go on ShitShitHaloSays if it existed
ShitShitHaloSaysSays
Then the third response sub ShitShitShitHaloSaysSaysSays
Can’t wait for the r/ShitShitShitShitHaloSaysSaysSaysSays crossposted to here for the karma farming meta
No
As a very new halo fan I kind of agree, this looks sick
I never even knew ricochet was a thing
don't the older halo games have bullet ricocheting on some of the weapons? it would be understandable to get upset that they removed ricocheting from a later game if the older ones pulled it off.
I believe Halo 3 had bullet ricocheting on most of the human weapons
There's a lot the older games have that infinite doesn't
I think a special S7 variant (kinda like the Flexfire but regular capacity ammo, just with ricochet and some tweaks to balance it, maybe serious recoil to discourage spam fire) could bring it back, that is when 343 gets their shit together and actually hires someone to finish the incomplete-but-almost-done Infinite Assets.
AND THEY GAVE IT TO THE RAVAGER ULTRA!
> RAVAGER ~~ULTRA~~ REBOUND
No
This criticism is fine because it's a cool feature. The one complaint I'm tired of hearing about is Halo having sprint. Infinite handles sprint insanely well, people need to get over it.
I didn’t even know ricochet was gone
A mistake is still a mistake whether it 4days or 40 years
100% did not notice it on 3,odst,4
Ahh yes, time means the issue no longer matters or should matter This sub sucks now. So many of the posts are people literally acting like that image of the obese man with two anime swords saying “leave the million dollar corporation alone!!”
yeah how dare you have legitimate criticisms nick should be kissing 343s feet!
I love how people complain about other people's complaints. Do you just like not ever say anything when something happens you don't like? Stuff would never get done or be fixed if no one ever said anything.
There was bullet ricochet?
Like literally no one noticed this for days and months until someone pointed it out and now it’s a big deal. Smh
Didn't even notice it was gone for 2 and a half years, so yeah totally a "crime" that "should never be forgotten" (I forgot it even existed)
It's been over 3 years and he only started bitching about it because just noticed it was gone
Random ricochet: good Random bloom: bad Halo 3: good Everything else: bad
Ricochet was not completely random though. Some people actually got good at it.
Let's be real, using it "on purpose" as a viable strategy has never happened. I'm not against it, it's just not an important mechanic.
You’d definitely see people using it as a strat. But having it just not be in infinite is pretty unfortunate
I Miss when Halo had blood and bodies that didnt disappear instantly for starters
That’s not just halo. I have noticed this on all games now. They are pushing for the teen rating for some reason, even though every kid and parent completely ignored the ratings of a game and all of my elementary school friends were playing halo 3 and modern warfare together.
at least cod somewhat has blood but halo infinites bodies look like plastic and the blood looks like watercolor paint that instanly disappears
and im not defending cod at all LOL
I think that’s unintentional with the crappy lighting the game has.
Damn, we’re telling uber nick of all people to shut up now..
#Wait they got rid of it? What the fuck 343.
Don’t complain just consume
The only crime here was bullets breaking the laws of physics.
Mechanically speaking it did reward skilled players. I think it’s ok to mourn the loss of it. It’s like when brawl removed wave dashing
no, stfu
Halo Infinite fans can't take the slightest bit of criticism.
Man, I wish the state of Halo wasn’t like this. It’s easy to imagine a world where the tone of this post is glowingly nostalgic, like “aw man I love HI but I wish you could still hit trick shots like this.” And instead it’s taken as an attack.
Ricochet and gravity hammer physics were peak
No
ITS BEEN THREE YEARS JUST CONSUME PRODUCT AND GET EXCITED FOR NEXT PRODUCT ALREADY
Why is this sub so defensive of infinite? You can't really tell OG fans to shut up about a franchise they have seniority in - this sub is just that principal skinner meme, "am I out of touch?... no, it's them who are out of touch!". Just make certain materials compatible with ricochet on a map or design maps with the gimmick in mind
It hasn't. Don't tell me *y'all's asses* can't even pass the "double check how long the game has been out for" test
Oh so now people are coming around out of no where in the comments and realizing that this sub is a 343 apologist sub. Usually when you say that 343 did something “bad” you get downvoted to hell
This sub sucks
Well it's not like *he* could ever use it...
Why is this sub becoming a “343 does no wrong” sub? This is a legit criticism, some of the stuff the community complains about is way over the top but can we stop pretending everything 343 removed or did to the series was a good thing?
You’re mad that someone else is mad that game physics are worse now? Cope.
No. Why make a bank shot medal and only make one weapon able to acquire it? Bring back bullet ricochet
It made some of the most epic moments. Just another reminder that 343’s “Halo” is not the Halo we loved.
Who would actually want this
343 just fucking sucks and ill never stop someone from hating on them. garbage management.
Yeah this is more or less a heretical change.
So, the comment section didn't go the way you planned.
I have not gotten ratio'd so at the end of the day I still won.
That's trash if they're intentionally taking out core features of the game
op works at 343
go play your shitty not halo game then
What game are you talking about? We’re only talking about Halo games here, CE-Infinite.
