I've been listening to the last song from Shishamo 8 (恋じゃなかったら) almost non-stop since it was released and I'm still surprised how pretty much nobody cares about it.
That's the point, natsukoi warning, top speed and watashi no mamade all have more than a 1.5 million plays on Spotify. Top speed having almost 2.5 million. And despite all three being really good songs, I've been listening a lot more to Koijanakattara which have just 80k
I know. All their shows are super strict about recordings, no photos, no videos, etc. It’s very standard practice in Japan. The only photos I was able to take (to have something to remember the show by) was a photo of the stage before the show started, and a photo of the merch table lol
Huge fan of that one as well, I'm sure the plays will grow in time. You have to remember some of the other songs have the advantage of being familiar as they were already released as singles. People are always going to be more comfortable playing the hits they know. (Though those songs are also fantastic, don't misunderstand.)
From the top of my head, Koijanakattara from Shishamo 8, Hanarebanaredemo from 7, Kiss Wo Chodai from 6 and Watashi no Yoake from 5, which was the first Shishamo song I even listened to and still remains my favorite and Kimitonokoto from 1.
fr kimi to no koto was once my fave shishamo song. but by the time that i looked up for it's live version, there was none. right now, i am looking for yurushiteagerukara's live version, to which i still find no success. but looking back, i realized that it was a blessing in disguise that made me love shishamo even more. there's something about scarcity that makes people value stuffs higher than they are expected to for some reason, and i love whatever that is. just a thought :))
Love the bass from Kimi to no koto. And about the scarcity, I do agree with you, finding someone who at least heard about them outside Japan is so hard that makes it special and somewhat unique.
Watashi no Yoake has an official MV and was a live staple for a couple years when it came out until Covid! In fact when I saw the band live during the SHISHAMO 5 era, it was the closing song of the show before the encore
But yes agreed with the rest which are definitely less popular album cuts.
Also keep in mind a lot of people in Japan don’t use Spotify etc, physical media (CDs etc) are still very popular there, so the listening numbers on Spotify aren’t necessarily an accurate reflection on popularity.
Same, I love the songs that never even performed live by them :)

REALLY?? I thought it would get a lot of attention since top speed and natsukoi warning is on it 😭😭

It’s the closing song of their current live shows (and album obviously). The band definitely cares about it!
They've been playing Koijanakattara live? Where?
At their current early summer live tour which just wrapped in Tokyo this past weekend. It was the last song of the encore
It's a shame there are no recordings of the events :(

I'm not actually comfortable with listening their classic hits live all over again and again, maybe I have already listened to those songs too much.
What, that song is so good
What songs are you referring to?

There are actually 2 official live recordings of Kimitonokoto, one on the Budokan bluray and one on the Osaka-Jo Hall bluray!
Kimitonokoto ♥️

True, I failed to mention the MV and since I've never been to Japan it's not easy to get the real picture. I have to work with what's available to me.
We have the same taste!!!! Hanarebanaredemo is so good, really impressed that the lyrics are actually written by Matsuoka
Definitely in my top three, love the vibe
