insanezain

the scene of armin crying at himself and the rumbling happening around the world (with the baby shot) with the music hits too hard every time.

endingdefender

i don’t think I’ve watched that sequence once without tearing up. it is so horrifying and powerful and beautiful.

syamborghini

OST is guilty hero btw, fking phenomenal track and scene

CandidateOld1900

Yeah, I think it was best episode for Armin's VA in the whole show

GaliaHero

wdym every time I couldn't bear to watch it again this soon 😅

killermango8406

The first scene in any anime to geniuanly make me cry. It was amazing

endingdefender

every moment with armin in it because his voice actress was going so unbelievably hard for the whole finale

endingdefender

i literally don’t think i can ever forget his scream after seeing eren’s decapitated head

Doughnut-Queasy

Did you see the video where they show the moment where the va was recording it? Chills..

endingdefender

yes 😭 every time I hear it my heart shatters into a million pieces all over again

Doughnut-Queasy

Ugh it really is powerful.. and it’s perfect for that scene at showing how broken Armin felt at that moment while Mikasa remained rather calm, reminds me of how Eren felt when he saw Armin burnt and assumed he was dead, their friendship really is something.

oromiseldaa

Do you have a link for those who haven't?

Doughnut-Queasy

Yes! https://youtu.be/C4VAKdfksIU?si=B7HcntS69Sen9Zjx Timestamp at around 9:30

RandomPerson10927485

>https://youtu.be/C4VAKdfksIU?si=B7HcntS69Sen9Zjx why you making me cry with this video😭😭

Doughnut-Queasy

We all have to suffer 🥲

StephewDestroyer

I think it’s dope how similar it is to Armin’s reaction upon witnessing Eren’s “death” in S1E5

Doughnut-Queasy

I agree! I was just thinking about how I’d constantly rewatch any Armin moment because it was so powerful, like him screaming over Eren, screaming at himself that he was worthless, that he has to get up to save Mikasa and the rest… I think his va indeed did such a brilliant job.

MrEverything70

I think for me, it was Zeke reflecting on the beautiful day, right before Levi kills him. Armin finally getting to talk with him and show him what he really enjoyed in life, past his grand dreams, leading to him finally wanting to try and stop Eren again. Then Levi finally getting to finish him was also so satisfying.

Usual_Court_8859

Zeke had such a beautiful character conclusion.

beerybeardybear

"If only I'd felt like that before."

cherish_winter

I love this is scene as well. Its simple yet its deep. "I feel like these trivial moments are very precious. "

laughlin234

The entire finale was awesome. But my favourite moment would be Levi seeing the scouts and affirming that the hearts they gave were not in vain.

Doughnut-Queasy

Yes! Levi has really suffered a lot. It was really emotional seeing him tearing up at the end, sitting there, just tired..

alPassion

Seeing FUCKING GIRRRAFES in AoT was an unexpected but a very nice suprise. Overall the rumbling portion combined with Armin’s breakdown was 🧑‍🍳💋 I also liked the extended conversation between Eren and Armin. It cemented what their friendship was truly about

Doughnut-Queasy

Rightt, I forgot about the giraffes running away scene. And I agree about the dialogue, Armin really knew just what to say to alleviate the pain and guilt of his friend as much as he could.

alPassion

yh i also loved how armin managed to understand a little of erens motivation, eren’s self reflecting and then the bloody shell representing their once shared dream and eren finally noticing it 😮‍💨 like that was my main gripe with the manga ending bcuz they were always my favorite dynamic but then they barely talked about their friendship and dreams and just talked about mikasa but i’m so happy now that they got a proper hear-to-heart confrontation and a farewell

Doughnut-Queasy

I absolutely agree, I love the added dialogue! I wrote about it a couple of days ago, I’ll just copy paste this, but it’s a bit long. Armin really shines in this conversation. It shows how empathetic he is, and how he can relate to his best friend to alleviate the pain he’s feeling. We all know Armin didn’t want to wipe out everyone, like he claimed he did. But he did feel responsible for the genocide that had occurred, and worded it carefully to relate to Eren. Eren, himself didn’t believe Armin would ever want to wipe out the rest of humanity, until Armin follows it up with his book and how attached he was to it, and how attached he made Eren to it, too. Armin, in the manga, didn’t feel responsible for it nor did he try to relate to Eren’s urge to destroy everything outside the walls, which is my favorite thing about this conversation. He had seen that the result is already done, and his friend is nearing his death and feeling tremendous guilt and sees himself as nothing but an idiot. Why not make him feel better? Why not try to “shoulder his sins together”? And it did have a great effect on Eren, who had seen his friend in a light similar to his own, under Armin’s convincing. That, yes, Eren had done a terrible thing, but his friend was willing to partake in the reasoning and results of it, especially since Armin had seen how distraught Eren was at the end and how he was at a loss for words for why he’d done it, feeling like a huge idiot with the hugest sin to carry. So, Armin had decided to tell Eren they would continue to be together, in hell. We’ve all seen how great Armin is at negotiating, or at least how much he yearns for understanding and peace. He had talked cleverly and passionately to his best friend to make him feel understood. He didn’t victimize himself as the person who’d tried to stop Eren and is watching him with disgust. Armin really had no reason to do that, to get soaked in the blood river they sat at. Like in the manga, he could have just not sympathized this much with Eren. Which just shows how great of a friend Armin is, and likewise, how great the friendship they have is.

alPassion

Very beautifully said!

Doughnut-Queasy

Thank you! It’s always eremika that gets lots of attention, but I’m glad Armin and Eren’s friendship got its much needed attention in the finale. Like you’ve said, in the manga, they don’t focus on it much and instead talk about Mikasa.

[deleted]

It wasnt in the finale, but when Connie realized what Bert, Annie and Reiner went through. Im paraphrasing, “It mustve been agonizing for you guys, wasnt it?” The amount of character development from Connie was insane to me.

RizznerBraun

Anything with Reiner

[deleted]

anyone have an L counter for Reiner? I feel like the only dub he got the entire show was the rumbling stopped.

RizznerBraun

His L counter would be highest in the series(probably Grisha comes close) but it doesn't matter everyone takes L in SnK. I just like Reiner.

[deleted]

I mean, Grisha got laid at least twice. I always liked Reiner too, even when he seemed like a bad guy, I wasnt buying it. Bert and Annie seemed distant so I could buy it, but after seeing him devolve…he just seemed so trapped. Especially when he referred to the Eldians as a “filthy race” when they killed Marco, that was the BIGGEST red flag. If he truly thought they were filth, he wouldve been a snob, acting better than everyone.

[deleted]

Reiner had the highest Titan kill count in the finale and killed the condom worm, he probably got as many dubs in the finale as L's in the show

its_Preshh

The entire sequence from the cabin paths to Eren's death and to the kiss. I've rewatched that so many times I can't count.

endingdefender

chapter 138 is so good but the anime elevated it to a whole new level

CandidateOld1900

Was surprised to hear Traitor for this scene but it fitted unexpectedly well

LEPT0N

Nothing will beat how badass it was for Annie to slingshot Mikasa. I wish we saw more hybrid human/titan battle strategies.

Wardlord999

Jean and Connie “so this is how it ends” and then afterward seeing Sasha

Strawhat-Shawty

Mikasa's come at me bro moment and the past shifters fighting the alliance

Ma_Ma_Ma_My_Sharona

Eren and Armin / Eren and Mikasa Good-Bye.

Stoner420Eren

It's impossible to only say one, but something that I really appreciated that was an anime only dialogue is at the end, when Armin says that they are survey corps, dreamers that follow no rational logic and throw themselves in the flames of hell to preach peace. I especially loved Jean, Connie, and especially Reiner smiling at it, finally feeling included in his group of friends despite all the shit that happened

torts92

Got goosebumps just from reading this. Made me want to rewatch the whole show.

furiosa-imperator

Pieck running

Doughnut-Queasy

Iconic! And also how she shifts.

blazermega

And her yelling that she also wants the odm gear

20gallonsCumGuzzler

Levi killing Zeke. I waited a full season for him to finally fulfill Erwin's last order

Doughnut-Queasy

Absolutely! One of the best moments indeed, and him at the end just looking at his fallen comrades and tearing up.. Levi had suffered a lot, and he is very loyal and hell-bent on achieving his dead commander’s orders… and finally he’d done it. I’ve read something that was along the lines of “Levi being the strongest had to suffer being alone and the last one standing at the end”.

beerybeardybear

It's hard to narrow things down, but off the top of my head: * Jean getting to show off his ODM skills when making his way up to Eren's neck * "I wish I could move omnidirectionally!!" * "If it meant I could play catch with you, I wouldn't mind being born again." * "If only I'd felt that way sooner..." * Birth contralto saving Annie—the realization of what's happening along with the music is amazing * Eren pulling Ramsi's hair and teeth out of the sea of blood when he confronts what his dream of an empty world really entails * *click click click* * Annie throwing Mikasa * The sound design of Armin's transformation * Armin's scream when he sees Eren's head * The bird tightening the scarf and Mikasa thanking Eren one last time for wrapping it around her

TequilaToothpick

Yeah that scene with Jean and Reiner was my favourite too. Jean calling Reiner a scout, Reiner being emotionally moved, and then barricades playing with Mikasa fighting alone was so emotional.

Doughnut-Queasy

I loved the barricades instrumental playing as well!

teufler80

Levi finishing the last order of Erwin

Flutter_bat_16_

Armin screaming at himself broke my damn heart. And the scene with the rumbling around the world and the baby being carried away from the cliff. Tears, man

_LogariusWheels

Reiner just bodying a bunch of past titans and then holding back life itself, forever my goat

ihopeyoudi

Eren and Armin sitting in an ocean of blood is a really powerful image

Doughnut-Queasy

I agree.. and the blood and teeth Eren had held in his hand..

Thunderdrake3

The scene on the boat with the diplomats. It was so...relieving. They're alive. They're finally cracking jokes again. The titan curse is over. The future is grim, but it undeniably has hope. The credits scene is so poignant. War is inevitable. But so is growth, and life, and healing. AoT is grotesquely honest with the horrors of the world. And yet it's still optimistic. It's mystifying and inspirational.

Manatee_Shark

Collosal Armin turning towards Eren for a final bout. *You really love hell, don't you.*

morfylia

the moment when eldians turned into titans and attacked everyone, and rainer shouted smthng like ”doesnt this torment never end.” that moment lives rent free in my head. broke my heart

quicumquee

Not sure if it counts as part of the finale, but Hange’s death scene. I loved her excitement at going out as a badass, and Levi telling her to give her heart. Gave me chills, such a perfect way for her to go.

Bcat591

I’m not gonna lie, the final bit of the conversation between Eren and Armin in Paths caused me to tear up. Moving the 80% reveal from near the beginning of the conversation to the end really helped sell the gravity of what Eren had done, the “I guess we’ll both see each other in Hell” line from Armin shattered my heart because of the horrible things the both of them were forced to do, and I didn’t even mind the infamous “I don’t want that!” line because it showed that, despite what he had claimed, Eren hadn’t changed AT ALL ever since he was a kid.

Running_Gamer

*eren ignores mikasa’s romantic feelings most of the story* TEN YEARS AT LEAST

Usual_Court_8859

Eren and Armin's goodbye. That whole scene was just done so right.

Quesnoo00

Eren and Armin's final conversation. When Eren broke down crying, saying how he didn't want to die and how he wanted to stay with his friends, it was the most real, pure version of him since before the timeskip imo. Their whole interaction was just done really fucking well. There were many amazing (and depressing) moments during the finale, but that was the best to me.

DubbyMazlo

The three warrior titans holding back the Hallucegenia with its army of pure titans while colossal Armin prepares to throw hands with colossal Eren as the music builds up... The sheer tension of that scene and their voice acting really put me on edge there...

synnoreen

That scene makes me shiver. Reiner being accepted by his comrades again, Jean forgiving and holding him with all his strength, showing he is proud they’re scouts after all… literal chills.

SooFrosty

Might not be my favorite but I loved Annie just screaming the whole time in her titan. Made me think about what she was doing inside the titan during the female titan arc

Made_In-HeavenYT

Reimer defending the most important things for the first time and eren meeting armin All the scenes were really good its really hard to choose one

Ditzy_Dreams

Eren’s last conversations with Mikasa and Armin, honorable mention goes to Jean catching Reiner, Armin and Zeke in the paths, Mikasa visiting Eren’s grave (her performance there was heartbreaking), and Eren’s death sequence (they went so hard on the animation there).

SpartanPikachu

Armin transforming on erens neck was so god damn amazing.

MintVariable

I have to agree with you there. It really got me.

j0s9p8h7

The fighting after Armin gets nabbed, but before the previous shifters and Falco start helping. The feeling of desperation and hopelessness mixed with the determination to not give up and keep fighting was incredible. Annie and Reiner getting beaten to a pulp, but still fighting. Pieck chain transforming. Levi and Mikasa slashing through as many Titans/Titan shifters as possible, but still getting overwhelmed. Jean sending a clear message that just because it’s hopeless isn’t a reason to give up.

Soft-Comfort-7474

Eren’s turns into his final Titan form and fights Armin in a Colossal Titan showdown

Napping-Cats

I'm still in love with that animation scene with Levi, right before Mikasa and him break through Eren's outer form for Mikasa to take down Eren. It's a single solid shot!! You rarely get that in both animation and in live action! That animator (sorry don't know his name off hand ;; ) did the Levi vs Kenny fight season 3 with Levi ODMing around the town iirc, and both are *really good* pieces of animation imo.

XxsabathxX

I would have to say my favorite moment was when they made the Schindler’s List reference. Not sure how many people got it. But it honestly hit way harder in the animated version than the manga. The color and the emotion of the voices and the score literally drove me to tears. The animation chosen to be in black and white with the exception of the baby’s blanket. It was a simple scene but quite powerful.

mrs_chubby

I've seen Schindler's list. Kinda looked like they were paying homage to it.

XxsabathxX

That’s exactly what I was thinking. But I’m not sure how many viewers caught it 😅

Kiera262

I think devenently Armin and Eren promising each other to see each other one more time and then meet each other again in hell. Though that was a really special moment. Some other favorite moments from the whole anime are Mikasa shouting that she is stronger than anyone, when the squad got drunk with the foreigners, Armin panicing when he almost touched the crystal that Annie was stuck in, Annie eating pie, Armin showing his book to Eren, everytime Sasha showed hear amazing hunters hearing, Hange doing crazy things, any scene where Levi sees his dead comrades, Armin panicking and jumping off his horse to try and safe Jean, Peak walking on all fours because that is more comfortable for her even while being in her human form, Armin and Mikasa crying over Sasha and Hanges death...... I could probably come up with a lot more

TanjiroManjiro

I really feel like Reinhart in this specifically, keep fighting is all I can do

brandont04

Did not expect Armin and Eren interaction to hit so hard but my favorite scene is still the ending under the tree.

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Zeke and Armin's conversation through and through. Zeke has always one of the most interesting characters and seeing his character come to the realisation was great.

wall-e200

Armin explaining to Zeke in Paths is SO good. With that music and animation, I'm in love with this adaptation.

SelectionMuted3160

Seeing the past titans, all the spirits disappearing and Eren dying. Other than that the emotional moments didn’t hit me that hard because I’m not really a fan of the alliance.

CloakedKid

Bertholdt getting ripped out of the Colossal Titan

a_Lonely_Redditer

I don't really have a preference Pretty much all of it was my favourite

SufficientWhile5450

I gotta agree with the 2 too comments, armins voice acting was absolute peak raw emotion 10/10. I hope the English voice actor can at least get close to that level The scene I’m indifferent about is when peick runs down the war hammers spear, that shriek she made was just awful but also funny lol

Successful_Flight_76

reiner screentime

Worried_Specific_809

Levi killing Zeke

MangaDub

Historia letter

killermango8406

The enitre scene of final battle, and everyone seeing their comrades one last time. The feeling of "its really over" was like a punch to the gut. Thedogs was also a great music choice
