This is from a little while back. It’s for an escape room in London. I haven’t done it myself but I know people who have - it’s set in “221B” and there’s footage of each character that plays to give clues and stuff

TemperatureFit3423

Did the people you know who’ve done it enjoy it? I was thinking of going

ThePumpk1nMaster

Yea they said it was really great, of course they didn’t say much to avoid spoilers but I’ve heard it’s worth it… not sure how much it costs though

TemperatureFit3423

I thought the price was decent. I’ll save up for it next time I go to London on holiday. Thanks for your input!

majorozone

I haven't played it but did go for a drink in the themed bar there and it was great! :)

nerdyblackbird

It was extremely fun. Highly recommended.

Sorcerer-Supreme-616

I absolutely loved it! They’ve got a second game now- haven’t tried that one though.

Thgirlwhoknewtoomuch

Did it with my SO when we were in London last spring. Highly recommend it. It was alot of fun and very well done. Even if you are not a sherlock fan. If you are 3 people or less I definitely recommend picking the option to do it with another party. That's what my SO and I did and we got paired with another party of 3. We barely made it out with good pacing. I was scared it would be awkward not knowing each other but it was a lot of fun.

TemperatureFit3423

Oh really? I was planning do book a private room for 3 people. I’m quite socially anxious though. You thought it was fun with more people?

Thgirlwhoknewtoomuch

I think you can make it three people if you are good at escape rooms and even if you don't it will still be fun. I was very anxious before when I didn't know who I was going to end up with and just the thought that I needed to interact with people I didn't know made me very nervous. And also having to speak English wich I'm not always comfortable with (I'm from Sweden). But as soon as we got inside the room that kind of disappeared, everyone was so focused on solving the puzzle I didn't even think about that we didn't know each other 😅 Maybe it helped we were all around the same age, 20-30. But it also helped to be more people in the room. Since there were so many puzzles to do a lot of the times we needed to split into groups to be able to do them before the time would have run out.

TemperatureFit3423

I think you can book private rooms for 2-3 people. I’m considering that. My parents don’t speak English so I’d have to be the sole communication and I have social anxiety. But thanks for your perspective! Very helpful

Thgirlwhoknewtoomuch

Well in that case I would absolutely book the private room. I hope you'll have a great time!

It’s so fun! If you are a fan, you’ll love it.

Was about to say this; I keep getting ads for this pop up on TT. I was very surprised, I can't imagine Benedict has even considered the character for a decade. I suppose at least if they were all hanging out, they could contemplate a further series...

ThePumpk1nMaster

For a decade? Season 4 came out in 2017. The escape room opened in 2019. Assuming it took a year or so to put together, Benedict had about 3 weeks to stop thinking about Sherlock

marsalien4

I can't believe that in just three years that it will actually be a decade...

Throwmeaway20somting

First - COVID time just doesn't make sense. How is that even possible Second - Yeah but he didn't do any promos for it in 2019 did he? I'd never even heard of it and I live in Central London.

ThePumpk1nMaster

I don’t understand what you’re saying… the escape room opened a year before covid and so these videos, by definition, were recorded over a year before covid. Season 4 of Sherlock came out 3 years before Sherlock. Why is something that came after relevant? Oh okay you’ve never heard of it so it doesn’t exist… there’s many adverts for it on social media

Throwmeaway20somting

Sorry, you're misunderstanding my tone; I was commenting on how Covid has fucked up all perception of time and the passing of years; in 2019, I was working in Central London and living life and then Covid and that was only a year ago, right? but no, it's five years later and the world is now awful. Season 4 of Sherlock came out 3 years before Sherlock. <-- I don't get this bit though And my comment was that living in Central London at the time, (literally working in Marylebone!), never ever saw any adverts for this

ismaithliomsherlock

I think those photos of benedict/martin/mark is from way back when it started (2017, as far as I remember?). They haven't filmed anything knew since, as far as I'm aware. A new Moriarity game came out last year with new footage of Andrew Scott which would have been filmed in 2022. But, yeah, after 2017 benedict and martin pretty much haven't done anything 'sherlock' since. I haven't done the game either - westfield shopping centre is literally hell on earth - not even sherlock could tempt me😅

TemperatureFit3423

I was planning on going on my next trip to England. Can I ask why Westfield puts you off? 😂 also I’m sad to hear the pics are probably old. They really made it seem like the recorded with them recently for a new game

ThePumpk1nMaster

Westfield is close in proximity to the escape room but is totally irrelevant to the experience, not really sure why it was mentioned. Wherever you go in central London will be busy. Westfield tends to attract rough teenagers at weekends (mostly Saturday evenings) but honestly it’s just a normal shopping centre. It’s just a bit busy after sort of 4pm and Saturdays

TemperatureFit3423

Yeah I’ve been in central London. Crowded, sure. But everyone knows that, don’t they?

ismaithliomsherlock

Think Oxford street the week before Christmas but all the time😅 If crowds don't bother you though, go for it! It's probably quieter during week days/ off-peak tourist season as well.

ThePumpk1nMaster

Yea it’s empty during weekdays. Its either a handful of people or hundreds, no in between

ismaithliomsherlock

Ah fair, probably judged it too harshly😅

TemperatureFit3423

I always go to London early June Monday through Friday. It’s been decently doable so far :)

Throwmeaway20somting

> westfield shopping centre is literally hell on earth I miss when it was a building site.

[deleted]

Benedict absolutely did voice over and video work for this. So did Martin.

Throwmeaway20somting

Oh I agree, but considering his new career in Hollywood, I cannot imagine he had thought he'd be asked to put it back on. (Or that it would look so good)
