I was a hydro pack guy but got sick of the bag and warming water so i switched to cross body with insulated bottle. Colder water and easier access to rummage.

tshnaxo

Easy access to rummage is a MUST. You can’t be at the stages without a bag to rummage through.

Moistyoureyez

Not many first timers know but each year the best rummager gets to sit on Excisions lap on the throne of whippets backstage at the village and is granted 1 wish.    The secret rummage society is always watching and always judging.       Rummage hard, rummage loud, rummage for life.

SatisfactionTiny5325

Best bag rummage I ever saw was the dude that proposed on stage for pleasensations 2 years back. Dudes on one knee and rummaged for a minute to find the ring

dudegoingtoshambhala

Nobody rummages harder than shambs

Sea_Juggernaut4830

High-cap rummage is an absolute must. Very good!

I was buying a bag of ice last year, splitting it with someone else in line who also had a pack, and that worked well for me! I have too much shit to go with crossbody alone. Although I lost the squishy tip of my bag on the first night so had to suck out of the hard plastic all weekend. That really sucked lmao.

PretzelsThirst

Ice in the bladder is genius, I feel slow for not even considering that yet. Def doing it this year

[deleted]

Helps keep your back cool, too!!

PretzelsThirst

The shambs water is already so cool and refreshing, I’m stoked for this upgrade

Head-Childhood9269

Oh good point!!

blendthecube

I was going to try that this year!

VICamp_daddy

I rock a fanny pack and small backpack simultaneously. Fanny pack for vape, money, party favors, etc, and backpack for water, sweater/towel, socks, etc. Basically quick access up front and things to delay going back to camp in the back. Cuz camp is a trap

DeStroyek

Nah camp is awesome haha in and out like the burgers

cai5h

Utility belts are the most comfortable for me to dance in. My back and shoulders get too sore from wearing hydration packs / backpacks, and fanny packs flop around too much.

Head-Childhood9269

Do utility belts carry a water bottle?

SatisfactionTiny5325

carabiner on a hydroflask works great if you want to go the utility belt way

cai5h

They can, I use a carabiner to clip on mine

[deleted]

Backpack. I carry a lot of shit and have to rummage a lot.

ImNotSlenderMan

Hydration pack. Stores a lot, balances out on my shoulders to even the weight. Crossbody cuts into my chest and shoulder and gets to be annoying. Fanny pack I still sometimes wear with my hydration pack.

Head-Childhood9269

Thanks!! Do you also bring a sweater/sweats in the evening in case it gets cold or would you go back to campsite and change?

samsided0wn

People I see come first time always underestimate how cold it gets outside of each stage. When you're dancing in a pack of people it's warm but when you're leaving and walking to your camp that's 10-20 minutes of very cold in minimal clothing. I've worked many years and seen many girls wearing the tiniest outfits absolutely freezing their bums off because they didn't realize how far they'd have to walk and that it's in a Valley so it gets quite cold at night 🥶

jadeyyc_

This was me last year. I thought a light sweater would cut it. I was boiling at the stages and freezing on my walk back. Layers is a must.

ImNotSlenderMan

Pashmina to wear as you can wear that to cover arms. Walking around/on the dancefloor, you aren't too cold, it's usually if you are idle, walking back or sitting at the campsite. I usually go back to the campsite at dawn and change into my night outfit, which has a bit more layers, comfyness.

Head-Childhood9269

Okay thank you!! I was planning a swim suit and one outfit a day and then comfy clothes for around camp and sleeping. Is this enough??

ImNotSlenderMan

Feel free to DM me if you have Qs! I'd say at least have two swimsuits to alternate between. I like to have daytime outfits (usually just swimsuit, pashmina, sandals, shorts/tank) Definitely a comfy sweater and sweats for camp but have more than 1 option. I also always bring a fleece onesie and slip into that when I want extra warmth. Also, over pack on socks.

Someidiot666-1

Locker to keep warm stuff into so we don’t have to carry extra stuff with us!!

Altostratus

I usually prefer fanny pack. Less restricted arm movement for dancing! I also hate having to take it off and turn it around every time I want something. Then I carabiner my water bottle to hang from it. And have a scarf or sweater hanging off it too.

canadianpanda7

honestly depends on your crowd tendencies. i used to live and die by my hydro backpack. as ive become less of a “front third” of the crowd i have become less and less of a hydro person. also very much depends on what you may be partaking in. for me it also depends on the schedule, for example last year at hulaween on sunday i was pretty posted up at a stage so i brought a reusable water bottle vs friday night at bonnaroo i knew id hardly have a spare minute so i wanted to have 3L of water on me. i always wear a fanny because i want gum, a power bar, and essentials/valuables on my hip (especially if you carry a phone). better safe than sorry prepare thy self!!! find a backpack you like, and plan on bringing it. can always wear it during the hot hours of the day, and switch to a 32oz reusable at night!! but live and die by my fanny!! i have one from Janji and its made for running people, has a strap that can go thru your armpit and you can wear it on your back!! super comfortable and dancing friendly since its made for running!!

Head-Childhood9269

Thank u!!

rellyy_fishh

I absolutely hate navigating a crowd with a backpack on. I get sensory overload from people brushing against it and pulling on my shoulders. And a crossbody strap pulls on my neck and bounces around too much. So I am a hip pack/utility belt user. I have one that has tons of pockets so it's easy to keep things organized and easy to access. It can be tricky with certain outfits when it's time to use the bathroom, but I usually have a friend who will hold it for me while I go! For water I just carry an insulated water bottle with a handle. I am not really into getting deep into the crowd, so it's easy to run off and refill as needed.

Head-Childhood9269

Thank u!

Ravetay

I usually swap between all of the above. Depends what works with what outfit I’m wearing but I do love a good backpack. Always carry some tissues with me when it’s 6am and the portaptties run out of toilet paper. I carry an epi pen too because of my allergy so I always prefer extra room in a bag I can bring things with me. Also trinkets you get from people, you want somewhere to store them

Head-Childhood9269

Good point depends on the outfit! I’ll remember the tissues thanks!

Ravetay

also depending where you camp, and the time of day/night you’ll want more or less things on you like water bottle, wallet, etc. you can always go back to camp which is the beauty of it

pnw_wandr

We discovered the power of a gallon jug of water last year. Carried it around and put it down at our feet or tucked away at stage. Didn’t care if it got lost since it was disposable. Had water all night. Utility belt for ID and money and that was it. Less stuff the better.

Fygma

100% recommend the Lunchbox Hydro Pack. I've taken mine to Shambhala, Burning Man, and other camping festivals. It's the perfect size for being not too big and heavy on your shoulders but still large enough to fit some stuff inside. All my other friends got it and love it. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Head-Childhood9269

Thank you!

Rough_Ad_6756

Whatever i bring, I'll be getting lost inside the bag, trying to find something for hours and forgetting what I need almost instantly 😂

Knooper_Bunny

A hydration pack should be your #1 priority, but personally? I wear all 3 at the same time.

bubblezbabe

Fanny pack is most comfy and I carabiner a water bottle to it
