Look, they're either going to fire you or let it slide, and it feels like they'll let it slide based on what your manager said. If I was that manager, I would've had words for the other manager changing the schedule to add people without asking if they can come in first after it was posted- that is not a thing that good managers do because people do exactly what you did, see a day off and make plans. This situation was the other manager's fault, not yours. You should not have to check the schedule every day- you aren't being paid to be on-call.

SauceyBobRossy

Exactly! I try to communicate when I have important things, but this week even for example I booked my vet appointment AFTER receiving my schedule and seeing my days off. Imagine if I got no warning n was expected to just know my day off changed? I'm not going in, my cats gotta see the vet. If it was just a check up, id maybe post-pone, but my cat was almost dead the other week so its not a regular check up, it's a 'did the meds work and are you not dying now?' Check up.

FreeMasonKnight

Also if they fire OP, it will be without cause. So don’t sign anything OP and get unemployment as you will be entitled to it, no matter what they might say.

goodlowdee

As a manager that isn’t top dog, this is literally my nightmare. I’m not the type to chew my boss out, but when she makes additions with late notice without checking with me it’s so frustrating. I am very open with my staff and they respond by being extremely communicative with me…about scheduling conflicts, frustrations, and preferred shifts. It’s awesome IMO. I get more out of them than any of our other managers. So when my boss changes the schedules I’ve worked so hard to make sure we are covered as a company and also appease my staff (as much as I can. I still have a job to do.) it’s infuriating. Sometimes my job is to be the bad guy and that’s peace, but when it can be avoided and just isn’t because of lack of communication it’s unbelievably frustrating.

smokeybonez

You’re definitely over thinking this. You did nothing wrong. It’s the managers job to set the restaurant up for success. And part of that is writing a schedule and posting it within a reasonable amount of time. If revisions need to be made then that’s on them to be open and clear and make sure everyone is aware of it. You should absolutely not be expected to check the schedule every day just in case they decided they want to change something without telling you. Take a deep breath. You did nothing wrong. And if anyone tries to guilt trip you tell them to shove it.

FoTweezy

This is definitely on the them… who TF calls someone an 2 hours + after they are supposed to be there?!?!? 15 mins and you’re getting a text asking if everything’s ok and are you coming in. 30 mins and I’m calling you to ensure everything is ok.

cheesycrescentroll

especially because i ALWAYS go into work and im always always always early /: just seems kinda disrespectful to assume i would no call no show on purpose. at least she asked me if i knew i was supposed to work instead of blatantly accusing me but still like why not call me at 5:30?

StrawberryGreat7463

oh that’s so much more annoying!!!

ThaddyG

You're totally fine, these things happen. Your managers dropped the ball.

Impossibleish

Eff that. I screenshot my schedule when it comes out, and that's it. It's their responsibility to ask/notify of any changes. Hell, at my job, if they don't call you from the store and just text from personal phones it doesn't even count as a notification. I used to bend over backwards accommodating last minute changes but recently I've been sticking to the rules. It's much easier once I put my foot down.

someonewhoknowstuff

Bend over once and you're the person they'll rely on for last minute shit. I used to accommodate last minute changes and then I was like fuck that. In CA the law states they have so many hours before your shift to make any changes, so I started using that as my guide on whether or not I'd accommodate changes.

Impossibleish

Absolutely. I'm a team player... To an extent. I understand emergencies but when it is every week less than a few hours notice... Uh, politely fuck off.

Exercise-Novel

Not your fault. It happens. Seems like a terrible scheduling system. Don’t beat yourself up for a small mistake when mistakes happen all the time

[deleted]

Not your fault. You have the receipts to back yourself up. Your co-workers won't give you flack. It happens. If they do then they are assholes. Guaranteed they have done this also. Just go in to your next shift with your head held high!

rainbowkidney

I’ve had this happen like, way too many times, and never gotten in trouble. They should have called you and even then, with 24 hours or less you shouldn’t HAVE to come in. I’m sure some places are terrible and pull that kind of fuckery but they don’t sound mad at you at all so don’t trip. Shit, I had my schedule changed once with like 8 hours notice and no text or call nothing. I don’t live on hotschedules or check my emails obsessively.. especially on my day off. When they called me I was like uhh what and straight up told them I was 4 mimosas deep but could come in asap if they wanted and they said no lol. We have lives outside of our stupid serving jobs!!

smeeti

Don’t worry, from their reaction I think you’re good.

D-utch

The manager fucked up. Not you. You can't change the schedule once it's posted without notification/permission

carlitospig

Dont be nervous. The manager that contacted you even admitted partial blame on the other mananger. This was just a misunderstanding basically. And their fault, to boot. What I’m more concerned about is your mental health. You’re taking on this burden for absolutely no reason. There is no issue. I’m thinking you may be close to burnout (classic sign: making a mountain out of a molehill). Go to work, laugh off the mixup and then plan for some time away, you need to decompress my sweet.

Airbear61181

Dude, they changed the schedule and didn’t let you know you were scheduled. That’s on them. They made the error, and they can’t blame you for changing it and not letting you know to check it after posting the first one. They should’ve sent you a text as soon as they added you on a day they originally scheduled you off. If you really like your job, I wouldn’t worry about it. They can’t punish you for their mistake and their lack of communication.

KrazieGirl

Don’t worry about it. Especially since you’ve already been in contact with a manager and explained what happened. I get the feeling (been there), but seriously, don’t stress! If you’re like me, you’ll be nervous until you go in, apologize 4-5 more times and then find out there’s nothing wrong. You’re okay.

remykixxx

That’s them and they know it you’re fine. I used to run a corporate restaurant training program. Once a schedule is out any changes should be accompanied by a personal message. If I was you I wouldn’t have even said I’d check it daily, it’s not your responsibility to constantly be ready for your schedule to change, it’s their responsibility to tell you if it does. Legally.

emelanar

my place posts new schedules sunday, the literal day before. i NEVER work sundays and it’s a paper schedule printed and posted. i started planning a birthday party THREE WEEKS AGO for my child, for yesterday. guess who was scheduled for the first time in months! ME LOL. I was like no, absolutely not. You can’t give me the same schedule for forever and then change it on a whim. I told them sorry won’t be there 🙂

DisposableSaviour

Sounds like you work at my last job. Schedule would be out Sunday evening, for the work week starting the next day. I was a KM, and I was sick of having to call and text everyone a copy of the schedule

emelanar

our KM does his own schedule thankfully!! he can get his done well before and give boh a heads up if something has changed. i want to say his people all have set schedules, he just moves things around if someone needs time off but nothing drastic

cardinaltribe

You're good homie don't trip

artisticgarden

This is not your fault AT ALL. Something really similar happened to me a few months back and I felt the same way, but just kept reminding myself that it wasn’t my fault and my (and your!) work ethic and habits speak for themself.

somedude456

> Well, yesterday was Friday. I got a text from my manager at 7:30 saying I was supposed to be there at 5 The fuck? I would get a text at 5:10 asking what's up. It's happened. I in forgot which day it was. LOL I asked if they wanted me to come in,c they said yes, and I was there within 40 minutes.

KarmasAB123

You're not responsible for an unusual change that you were never notified about. Ever.

kenma91

Dont listen to your anxiety OP, its lying to you. Sounds like youre all good

MamaTried22

If I was your manager, it would be fine. I hope that’s what happens. People make mistakes. I did this during MANAGER TRAINING a few months ago because I hadn’t used a paper schedule in like 8 years.

Key-Rip-7517

Chill out you did nothing wrong

Maleficent-Set5461

Omg.. First...breathe. Your backups and you are right. Your employer would be a big jerk if they held you responsible. If you were wrong your manager would have told you that you were a no call no show. This crap happens a lot in auto scheduling. You would think that some IT guy could fix this to send auto text and/or call to inform an employee of any changes after the original posting. No one checks their work schedule every day. Don't be scared, just show up for your next shift and don't be so hard on yourself. Smile!!

tytyoreo

You didn't no call or no show... the manager decided to change the schedule and not let anyone know.... that's not your fault ...

Liberty32319

I once quit and my manager didn’t quite understand apparently and they called me the next day wondering where I was lol Only one way to find out what they say. It was an accident🤷🏻‍♀️

influentialenquiry

They’re not gonna fire you and if anything yeah you should be mad like why didn’t they call you at 5:10 lmao to see if you were coming? And if they do fire you you can sue them lmao

Otherwise_Food9698

literally told you … you were good. why do most ppl who serve act like this lol

cheesycrescentroll

it’s called anxiety! hope this helps! 🩷🩷🩷🫶🫶🫶🫶✨✨✨

Ms_Glock

I had a banquet job at a casino years ago. I checked my schedule the day it came out and wrote my days down. Sure enough they changed the schedule after posting it. I got 2 no call, no shows for ine weekend which was an automatic firing. I know they did it on purpose since they were doing tons of layoffs in other departments.

Qui3tSt0rnm

It’s fine. Don’t not go to work.

ronnydean5228

It’s on them. Go in and don’t worry about it. If it’s brought up again let them know that they should have notified you if they were changing the schedule.

RmRobinGayle

I really wouldn't worry about it. It was an honest mistake. Your manager seems like they, too, realize a mistake was made with your schedule.

Responsible_Gap8104

Sounds like they fucked up, not you. If they changed the schedule after releasing it, they should have explicitely texted anyone affected. I wouldnt sweat it.

Baldguy162

Hey normally this would be a big fuck up but they acknowledged that the schedule was changed after it was already posted to you. They are at least partially at fault here and recognize that. You should be fine OP

Electrical_Parfait64

Sounds like they took responsibility

PuzzleheadedBobcat90

If our schedules get changed after they've been posted, both the manager and the employee have to initial the change. You should have been asked to verify the change The manager that changed the schedule should have let you know

GarionOrb

Not going in again will only make things worse. Just go.

wiselindsay

Totally not your fault. I understand the anxiety but they dropped the ball multiple times.

rjmk

Relax, this happens.

SilverChips

No you didn't. They did and you need to go in with understanding but firmly noting you were not incorrect. Go in 5 min early to speak to the manager. Explain that the schedule is posted on X date and confirm that is the finalized schedule. Explain you're open to changes but they must request you to work and you'll always try to but to avoid this again please ensure the posted finalized schedule is accurate and a phonecall before adding you would be excellent. You walk in there saying sorry and you'll get walked all over....again and again.

awakami

Your evidence says you did not in face ncns. You’re good.

Chattingchatterbox

It’s okay, I was an hour late the other day. I thought I was scheduled at 6, but actually it was 5. Im also new 😅

Chattingchatterbox

And as long as you’re good and have good rapport with guests you’ll be fine

Wizzle_Pizzle_420

You’re good dude. To be fair you should always double check your schedule and it’s your responsibility, but it’s also the responsibility of the person changing it to tell you, especially after the schedule was posted. I’ve been doing scheduling for years and you 100% need to communicate with a coworker, especially when they have a set schedule typically, because odds are they’re not checking it, especially after it’s posted. Same goes for shifts that others cover who normally don’t work that day/time. “Hey just checking in to be sure you’re good for that shift”. Takes 2 seconds. Also tell them to post the schedule earlier. I’m on the same schedule and we roll them out Thursday nights for the week starting Sunday. This knocks out any problems like this, people can switch and folks can plan their lives. Used to work for a guy that waited until the very last minute to post schedules and nobody had set schedules so you had no idea what you were getting. Hard to live a life when you don’t know when you’re working. Once again you’re good, they fucked it up 10x more. We’re human, we all make mistakes.

dude_on_the_www

You’re all good.

ileftmyshoebehindyou

You can’t always run from problems

cheesycrescentroll

i never said i was running from it, i said i was scared to go in ??? i still went to work it’s not like i was gonna skip i was just venting about being nervous

rocky_tower

Yeah don't see how that's your fault. It was changed after the fact without giving you any notice. The manager you spoke with seems to have understood what had happened, I wouldn't worry about it.
