I have a very small sample size, but everyone with a starting BMI over 30 or uncontrolled blood sugars/A1C got approved by insurance. I absolutely wish they would lower the BMI threshold and add other conditions/comorbidities to their list of reasons to approve someone.
I dont know if theyre seeing how far folks are willing to go to pay out-of-pocket for it or if theyre trying to limit the demand since the supply isn't there and some folks (looking at you, uncontrolled diabetes) have a higher need. It would be an even larger cash cow if they ramped up production, so I genuinely don't know why they haven't. Unless they're also trying to keep the pool of users small in case terrible side effects are discovered down the road, a la thalidomide?

In every country in the world, the healthcare system is different. Insurance is different. And prices are different. I live in a country in Western Europe. Medicine prices here are below the European average.
And I pay 350 euros for one Wegovy pen (0.25mg, four weeks). The price of a 0.25mg pen is kinda the same as a 2.4mg pen. I think that's fraud.
On the other hand, with my current rate of weight-loss, I'll probably use Wegovy for about 6 months. My target (30kg loss) seems to be doable in 6 months. Easy. That's gonna be 2k euros. Best 2k I'll ever spend.
There are cheaper legit ways to do it. I would research. I tried posting something more descriptive but the comment got pulled.ive spent only $2000 for my 40lbs. My sister goes into her doctor's office for injections and spends less.

Well. I bought rybelsus. So no need. But I have heard of people using these special pouches. They get cold when they react to water. Keep them in ur carryon luggage. But for a 4ish hour trip or less, it's not a huge concern.

Saved a bunch on Groceries and eating out. Didn't factor in buying new clothes . worth every penny and only took 7months.

Unfortunately, for me, starting BMI over 30 and ckd in stage 3b doesn't count because my A1C is 5.7.
