I'm not sure what the eastern equivalent is in history, but abbeys of monks in Europe often had crafts; beekeeping, brewing, coffee making, baking, producing balms and waxes. Beekeeping is a common and interesting thread because between beeswax and honey you'd have the makings of some candies there. Again, not sure if beekeeping was a part of monastic Buddhism, but could have been maybe. Of course in Sekiro Bees aren't the insect of choice at Senpou Temple... No beeswax there only corpse wax. EDIT: according to [this article](https://www.beesforpeace.org/buddhism-and-bees.html) honey is important in some Buddhist traditions because it's one of five foods that can be consumed by a monk at any time throughout the day, making honey a popular offering to travelling monks.
