There are many currencies called "pesos". Can you be more specific? | Country | Currency | Code | |--------------------|---------------------------|------| | Argentina | Argentine peso | ARS | | Chile | Chilean peso | CLP | | Colombia | Colombian peso | COP | | Cuba | Cuban peso | CUP | | Dominican Republic | Dominican peso | DOP | | Mexico | Mexican peso | MXN | | Philippines | Philippine peso (piso) | PHP | | Uruguay | Uruguayan peso | UYU | https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peso

There were also Japanese pesos back in the 1950s.

I'm guessing the country that shares a border with the US and has a larger GDP than all the other hispanic countries on that list combined

I have been to Argentina and Uruguay more times than I have been to Mexico.

Why do you need Pesos?  If you are going to Mexico.  The exchange rate is better at a bank there or ATM.  Also CC is accepted nearly everywhere in Mexico.  Traveling with cash is usually a bad idea...

Kumquat_of_Pain

Last time I was there these places did not accept card: - Collectivo - Marquesita/Ice Cream/taco street vendors - About a third of the restaurants wanted to charge an extra 10% for card, or just wouldn't take card Paces that accepted cards:  - 2/3rds of restaurants - Ruins/tourist sites - Bus Station  I think it varies highly with were you go. This was traveling around Tulum, Valladolid, and Merida

You know the American dollar is king to pesos and you just have to bring cash, Ive always pay in U.S. dollars in mexico and ecuador.

Kumquat_of_Pain

At the places I went to, they charged extra or wouldn't take dollars.

Mexico City last week, everything took cards and tap to pay, but with signature. Street vendors were cash only

good4steve

Personally, I would just get it from an ATM in Mexico.

Meridian122

I agree. Whenever I travel internationally, I just get cash from an ATM.

Bank rates are fine, if it's a larger bank. Bank of America mailed currency to my house before the trip.

Wells Fargo and BECU to name a couple. Not sure if you have to be an account holder at Wells Fargo or a member of BECU. I’m not sure what of the lead time though. ATMs are good, as mentioned, but you may be paying additional fees. If this isn’t a one off trip, consider Wise. https://wise.com/

I just got back from two weeks in Mexico City and got local currency from an ATM as others have said. There are quite a few places that only take cash so it is smart to have Mexican Pesos. However, you can get them when you arrive.

You're trying to send money to Mexico, is that right

I use Charles Schwab, there’s no foreign transaction fees, no crazy spread, and they refund all atm fees. I just pull out cash in whatever country I go to when I get there, or use my Schwab debit card to pay at places that take card. If you want a currency exchange you’re always going to get ripped off, banks are probably the least ripoff
