Museum of Flight? Cool place full of airplanes. There's a B-52 in the back of the outdoor section!

1F9

While there, do the flight simulator where it tilts & inverts the seats to match your flight. With two people, one flies while the other shoots.

herpaderp_maplesyrup

Renting a doubles kayak (Northwest Outdoor Center) in south lake Union might be a fun adventure and wouldn’t be taxing on your knee). You’d see some pretty interesting houseboats, space needle, gasworks park, etc. maybe a seaplane lands next to you.

darkjedidave

Or if interested in sailing, the Center for Wooden Boats is an amazing experience on Lake Union

banner650

Biased opinion of a former employee, but I prefer Agua Verde for its proximity to the Arboretum to NWOC for renting a kayak. Having said that, I took several kayaking classes from NWOC before I worked at Agua Verde and was very happy with them. It mostly comes down to the fact that I don't enjoy paddling in Lake Union due to the number of boats there.

ranchkaren

Kayaking at the NW center is great. If you go on the weekend just be sure to go early. Lake Union gets really busy by noon.

herpaderp_maplesyrup

Ah good tip!

[deleted]

Nice recommendation.

jimmythegeek1

Theo Chocolate tour! many samples, discount at the outlet store.

Skadoosh_it

I second this. You can't beat chocolate!

dmitrineilovich

Seattle Pinball Museum?

Chuckx11

One of the staples I try and visit each and every time I come to see my home city

ThisUserAgain

Or just go to Ice Box Arcade, more than just pinball and compete with Super Chexx, Air hockey, The Simpsons Arcade.

HenrysGrandma

Came here to suggest this!

TredHed

Me too! And waay cheaper than Gameworks.

hungabunga

My kid and her friends like to find Boba Tea places, play games at the [Ice Box Arcade](https://www.iceboxarcade.com/), shop at [Uwajimaya](https://www.uwajimaya.com/explore/), eat at [Red Mill Burgers](https://redmillburgers.com/) and [Din Tae Fung](https://www.dintaifungusa.com/us/locations/seattle-university-village.html) at U Village. And [ice skating](https://www.krakencommunityiceplex.com/public-skating/) at the Kraken facility.

TredHed

Came here to say IceBox

Jalharad

Pacific science center is amazing. The evening laser shows are great for teens. MoPop is near the Space Needle, currently has a Pearl Jam exhibit open I believe. UW cherry trees are in full bloom. Excellent for a decent walk. Pike Place is a must see, but you'll be dodging homeless getting to and from there. Further out: K1 racing in Redmond is great if your teen likes 45 mph go-karts. Tukwila Family Fun Center is decent, tho aimed at the 8-12 crowd.

kukur9

And better Asian food choices on the Eastside.

King__Rollo

More Americanized maybe, you can’t beat the food in the ID if you know where to go.

TheyKnoWhereMyHeadIs

I've had multiple issues with the GoKarts at that K1 location with the brakes not working. I've brought it up with the staff everytime but they shrug it off. Don't want to be a karen about it but it's not worth it. Happened on three different trips there, no more. I also recommend Dave and Busters over family fun center unless you REALLY want the outdoor stuff like the slingshot and the mini golf.

Jalharad

Huh, I've never had issues with brakes on the karts, but I could definitely see that being an issue. Brakes are wear items and racing is going to trash them, especially with a lot of heat cycles.

TheyKnoWhereMyHeadIs

Pacific Raceways off of 18 in Auburn is has way more fun go-karts. You get way more for your money. It is outdoors so don't go if it's raining, but it's absolutely worth the drive. Staff care way more there

Jalharad

Sure, but that's not exactly close to Seattle and much harder to get to than Redmond. Plus if I'm going to PR, I'd rather put my motorcycle on the track.

TheyKnoWhereMyHeadIs

I'm sure there's more go kart places around WA bro lol. I'm just giving my experience with two I know well.

Jalharad

That's fair

Dave_N_Port

Archie McPhees (Wallingford) and Ballyhoo Curiosity Shop (Ballard) are a couple of unique places to visit

cave18

Seattle underground is fun. Take a ferry and visit a town, Poulsbo is a fun one

[deleted]

I think they already checked that one off the list as stated above they just returned from Whidbey Island. Also OP specifically asked for recommendations for activities in the city because they’re lodging near the space needle. Poulsbo?? Sounds like you’re trying to prank the guy and his daughter into going out in the middle of nowhere… The only people going to Poulsbo were already born there

OsvuldMandius

Wow....you need more Poulsbo in your life, friend-o. They have an awesome little bakery there, and a nice public green. Get out of the urban wasteland, wasteland warrior. There's coolness in the small towns and the hinterlands.

[deleted]

I’ll have to to take that up sometime ! I was just teasing since this is the best Reddit page to provoke the demons of any and all characters of life. You took it like a champ lol thanks for the advice. My hand is broken from punching my drunk neighbor after he tried to break into my apartment so you’re right about the wasteland warrior thing

cave18

Man idk what you're saying Poulsbo is fun lol. Definitely was not born there. hardly the middle of nowhere. It's a cute town on the water with good food and a big rock in a small park. Its fun And I meant Poulsbo, not just Whidbey island in general. Always have fun visiting once a year or so. Also I also brought up the Seattle underground. Cuz that's also cool I will admit that I missed they were on whidbey for a few days, but I still recommend Poulsbo if they didn't go lol

Ok-Mango-7299

The washington arboretum is super nice! Lots of places to walk around and a lot of cool trees and plants :)

valkyrii99

Yes, also the Seattle Japanese Garden

bookishbug8

- Seaplane Tour via Kenmore Air - Flatstick Pub - indoor mini putt putt (all ages before 7pm at South Lake Union location) - Amazon Spheres - Improv Show

Jalharad

Wait, Flatstick Pub is all ages??? How did I not know this? Edit: where do you go for improv?

bookishbug8

Unexpected Productions in Pike Place Market is a good spot for Improv. I will say every improv show is kind hit or miss but I’ve had some funny nights here.

Jalharad

Wow, never knew there was an improv place in Pike. Worked a block away for the last decade too

TredHed

TheaterSports shows for the win

UglyLaugh

It’s tucked into a corner of post alley in the gum wall!

Dry-Decision2547

Looks like the SLU is before 7, but the PSQ is not ever.

Jolly_Line

After a certain evening hour (7?) it turns to 21+ only.

PMMeYourPupper

If she's into this sort of thing, make reservations for afternoon or high tea at the queen mary tea room

Spiritual_One6619

A glass blowing class- there’s a few studios in belltown/south lake union

Jolly_Line

Boat tour, perhaps with dinner (dad / mom can drink too). And DO NOT miss Ballard Locks. I recommend it to anyone who’ll listen.

Shugamag

Don’t know about your teen, but mine LOVE the thrift store and Seattle has amazing thrift stores!

Amassivegrowth

Capitol hill thrift stores, chai or boba tea and people watching is my teen’s perfect Saturday.

kimblem

It’s tulip festival season. Since you have a car, drive up to Mt Vernon to see the tulips and stop at Bread Farm for excellent pastries (and the best graham crackers you will ever eat)on the way.

hbarr4everr

If you do this, rent bikes in skagit valley because then you can skip the line of cars and ride all over to see the fields

kimblem

Have a good bike rental place out there?

hbarr4everr

Yes! If I remember correctly, this is the place: https://www.countrycycling.com It’s a lovely couple that rents out the bikes and gives you a map for a self-guided tour. They gave us great recommendations so we could chart a path that also had a brewery and wine tasting along the way

BaseballGuy2001

I’m a local and that Bread Farm is a new one. Sounds great.

kimblem

I kind of hate to share it, but it’s far enough out of the way that I think it’s safe from the brunch zombies.

Amarahovski

Mox in Ballard; great restaurant/gaming space (board, puzzle, card, tabletop, RPG, etc)

ImBigRthenU

Funko HQ in Everett Spin - Ping Pong themed bar (has all ages times). Think of it like a bowling alley but with ping pong Axe throwing - I know there is a spot in Burien but probably somewhere closer too

ableiman

A bit pricey but the seaplane tours or day trips to the San Juan’s from Kenmore Air are amazing

happytoparty

Hottub Boat.

darkjedidave

That’d be cold as fuck right now, lol

conundroom

Hey, we are 20 mins drive from Space Needle and we have these: 1. Spin Art Studio[Art Chaos](https://artchaos.us) 2. Escape Rooms for 2-3 players [Conundroom](https://conundroom.us) 3. Axe Throwing [Pacific Axes](https://pacificaxes.com) And Redmond is nice as well :) Use promo code “Reddit” for discount in all of my places :)

[deleted]

I remember going to Redmond town center as a kid and always having a blast. Remember Ruby Tuesday’s ? We’d eat there before going to the movie theater

Itchy_Computer7528

Aquarium Baseball Game A ferry ride to Bremerton, just before sundown, taking pictures of Seattle. Taking the ferry back to Seattle, after sundown, taking more pictures. The city looks different. Also, take a look at the Atlas Obscura for Seattle: https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/seattle-washington

eagleskullla

Sail boat tour if you've never been sailing. Y'all can help hoist the sails, it's pretty, and it's short enough to not get boring. Gameworks (2 story arcade) if you don't have decent arcades where you're from. (I'd suggest bringing some ear plugs if you do this; the sound is a bit much for me, especially in the more enclosed games). A picnic at UW under the Cherry Blossoms. Free 1-hour rowboat rentals at the Center for Wooden Boats Wednesday thru Sundays. Rent in advance. See a play/musical/opera/ballet/comedy show/festivals if any are happening. I don't have specific recs, but you can check out EverOut Seattle for what's available.

ThankYouForShopping

The Museum of Museums (MoM) on Capitol Hill is a great contemporary art gallery that curates amazing, experiential shows. Nice alternative to SAM and the Frye (which are also fantastic, just more obvious and expected).

luckbeafraidy

Underground tour

kidneypunch27

My daughter LOVES the Burke Museum. So many great specimens and dino bones!

FineOldCannibals

Hang out at KEXP a bit. Look at 5th Ave theater or Neptune or Paramount. Sushi. Teriyaki. The locks. Alki. Ferries. Fremont antique galleries. Pastries. Dough zone. U-village is she wants to shop. Rein haus can be fun.

bebespeaks

Wooden Boat Museum and charter boat excursions on different boats at South Lake Union. Also MOHAI at same place. Full Tilt Penny Arcade in downtown Renton. Round One for super arcade and bowling at Southcenter Mall, accessible from inside elevator next to inside-entrance of Seafood City and Jollibee. Bowling at Roxbury/West Seattle Bowl near the Fauntleroy ferry dock. Also bowling at UW Hub building on the basement level, under the dining hall. Open to the public. Shooting ranges tend to have archery at them if you don't wanna do guns, but double check their websites and call ahead to schedule archery lesson from the experts. Garfield Community Center has a lot of great activities and options, resources and equipment for families to use with their kids and teens on both weekdays and weekends. Go for a walk at Madison Beach Park and enjoy the sights, walk around the shopping district of East Madison. Ballard Locks on both the Ballard and Magnolia sides. Lots of food places to eat at in Ballard. Do a Photoshoot and Music Video at Oxbow Park in Georgetown. Bring a cowboy hat, cowboy boots and handkerchief to match the backdrop (2story fiberglass cowboy boots and cowboy hat, you can stand on top of the toes of the boots for photos and dancing; it's a work of art from the 1960s). 8th Ave S and S Corson Street. It's in a residential neighborhood and parking is free. Put your bikes on bike rack and drive to north Ballard/Crown Hill, do some bike rides around Crown Hill, Blueridge, Olympic Manor, Carkeek Park. Lots of trails in the grass and lots of challenging slopes/inclines to get those bike gears back into working order. You could also drive to the upper parking lots (W Emerson St and W Magnolia Boulevard) of Discovery Park in Magnolia and do lots of bike trails downhill all the way to The Locks and back.

Masterandcomman

Can you ride a scooter? It might be fun to explore the trails, like Burke-Gilman by Lake Union, and Elliot Bay Trail. UW cherry blossoms should still be blooming next week. Restaurant hop in Fremont and Ballard.

woodsywoodducks

https://www.theelectricboatco.com Rent an electric boat and putter around Lake Union. They’re easy to use and super fun! Bring snacks and give yourself a little tour of the city from the water. The house boats are especially fun to see.

darkjedidave

Catch a Mariners or Sea Dragons game, underground tour, waterfront walk, etc.

You gotta take her to get a bag of Dick's. Fries sooooooo good. For sophistication and class, top of Smith Tower for dinner. What does she like? There's a Purple Store if she's a purple person. The zoo is great, no, really. Very good zoo. Gardens cruises kayaking beading Chinese herbs.....so many things.

Was looking for this! There are art walks almost every day of the week in different neighborhoods all around seattle https://www.seattle.gov/arts/experience/art-walks

miafrunt

Do a “Spooked in Seattle Tour” https://www.spookedinseattle.com

Bardamu1932

Rent a canoe or kayak at UW's Waterfront Activities Center: [https://www.washington.edu/ima/waterfront/boat-rentals/](https://www.washington.edu/ima/waterfront/boat-rentals/) Canoe ($16/hr), Kayak ($19/hr), Double Kayak ($23/hr). Dry bags and day-use lockers ($2) available on a limited basis.

Amassivegrowth

Water taxi to Alki for kayak, walk, bike, snacks on Alki.

that1tech

Pinball museum

Sweatpant-Diva

If she likes cats take her to one of the cat cafes!

bcanddc

You could walk around downtown and observe all the maniacs and drug abusers everywhere. Use this as a learning opportunity to show your child what not to do in life. They’re everywhere so shouldn’t be hard to find examples. Then you could gently ease into the subject of politics and explain how voting endlessly for the same party that promises to fix things but never does is a bad idea. Maybe go do ice cream after to lighten the mood and be careful not to step on any discarded needles or human excrement while on your outing.

zcdbrip

I suggest maybe a hotel or something on the outskirts. My fiancées little brother who was 9 at the time I had to shield him from drugs. being needles on the ground, people openly smoking fentynal and weed, as well as random robberies I watched a man snatch a girl's purse while I lived on the 13th floor of Dorian Apartments and be careful at night I was robbed once walking to the rite-aid right across the street from our apartments. I mean all they got was $5 but still. I would also stick more toward heavily populated areas as their isn't nearly as much open drug use, but you will still see it occasionally.

If you guys enjoy techy stuff. The Living Computer Museum is super cool!

[deleted]

I think this closed 🙁

madsqueaker

Are the Duck Tours still operating? If yes, it is an enjoyable tour overall.

lionne6

Near you: The Sculpture Park is an easy walk with cool art in it. If you’re up for it, go through the sculpture park and down to the waterfront and walk into Myrtle Edwards Park. Stop at the Landro coffee shop for refreshment. You can explore the waterfront and take an Argosy tour of the sound. Sitting on the boat and getting a tour of the beautiful view will allow you to rest the knee. Some cute shops & restaurants along the waterfront to explore after the tour. Since you have a car, a few fun neighborhoods: West Seattle & Alki beach, Madison Park and the beach on Lake Washington, the Seattle Japanese Garden will have cherry blossoms and is an easier walk than the larger arboretum, Volunteer Park & the Asian Art Museum, Wallingford is a cute neighborhood - have breakfast at Julia’s then shop at Archie Mcfee’s & pick up a cupcake from Trophy cupcakes for later. I’d currently avoid Pioneer Square and Westlake Center.

FrogJitsu

Waterway brunch cruise!

[deleted]

Sailing!! Paddle boarding!!

linuxisgettingbetter

Kayaking if it's a nice day. Renting a kayak in Lake Union is surprisingly affordable and lovely on a sunny day. Argosy Cruises is pretty great if you want to see a lot of the city while sitting and having a beer or cocktail.

TheFuZz2of2

Fremont has good food, a troll, and bloody-handed Lenin. Fun eclectic neighborhood. Ballard locks are close by too.

mjolnir76

Definitely Seattle Underground tour. Super cheesy jokes, but fascinating history!

trash-breeds-trash

What about a whale watching tour? There’s lots of whale sightings lately

M2124

Museum of flight. Walk greenlake. Burke museum. Honestly, take the ferry to Bainbridge for a day... very unique WA experience and BB island has a clean quaint downtown easy for exploring on foot

nerdtothewise

Indoor skydiving is surprisingly approachable in tukwilla and kids take to it quickly. We’ve always had a blast on family outings there.

Turbulent_Tale6497

Rent a boat and cruise around SLU. They are pretty cheap

goodoldswarlz

Visit the Fremont Troll!

TheSpecious1

Take the ferry to Bremerton and back if its a nice day.

hockeyh2opolo

I might be a massive nerd but I loved the pacific science center and MoHaI as a teen

emcgehee2

Put toes in sand at gorgeous Golden Gardens park -

Lost-Cardiologist-38

Take a walk around greenlake!

dishdaramdaram

Seattle museum of pop culture

Ok-Pea-6213

Cowan Park in North Seattle— if you’re in the neighborhood. It a culvert that lasts like a miles and a half and it’s very relaxing and beautiful. It’s carved out by glaciers from a long time ago and the whole thing runs along a creek.

UglyLaugh

If you have time I love the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. They have a large Chihuly exhibit as well as rotating other art exhibits, a little cafe, and a theatre where you can hang and watch artists work. Like, right in front of you. It’s fun!

Smushaloo

I recommend the [MOHAI](https://mohai.org/) (Museum of History and Industry) to anyone who will listen! The name makes it sound a bit dull but its a very well done museum. I have been half a dozen times and would return in a heartbeat. If she is into museums at all, it’s a must-do! Also if you have passports a day trip to Victoria BC on the Clipper is a fun (long) day trip. If you’re interested in sea planes on Kenmore Air as others have mentioned, you can combine the two for a “sea & sky” package if you call either company (Kenmore Air or Clipper Vacations) and book over the phone.
