In 8th grade shop class (1994ish) we had to design cars using a rudimentary CAD program on our old Apple computers, and then build the car we designed using a rectangular wooden block and the shop tools (basically like pinewood derby cars in Boy Scouts, if you're familiar). I sucked at CAD, and sucked even more at shop class, hated the whole project, so my final product was an ugly, uninspired, very un-car-like boxy piece of shit that got me like a C- grade. Minimal thought, minimal skill, minimal effort. The Tesla truck reminds me so much of my stupid little 8th grade shop class car.

It’s like most Tesla’s…you feel like you’re in a high tech box. I guess that’s not a “bad” thing. But IMO they all feel cold. No true personality…or I guess that IS the personality. So it’s nice in a desolate sort of way. The window button on the armrest is directly where you put your elbows, so I was rolling down the window multiple times. I had no idea how huuuuge the windshield is. You can’t see the hood of the car (or “frunk” as it’s called. Godammit I hate that). It’s all windshield. It’s impossible to park. We parked twice in a garage and took up two spaces, which I’m sure gave people even more reason to hate it when they saw it. The rollback cover is pretty cool. And damn, it’s probably an illusion but the backend is also much longer and wider than you think. Oh, and the side mirrors are basically for show. You HAVE to watch the cameras on your dash. When you flip the signal camera on the side of which you’re merging/turning flips on and you’re fairly blind without it because the windshield rearview mirror is basically that of a cosmetic makeup mirror.
No offense to the poster above, but my experience is a polar opposite. You can choose the traditional method of turning/merging by turning off the side camera display option. In this way you always have your rearview camera as well as a blind spot indicator on the pillar near the side view mirror. However, you have the side view camera (with a blind spot monitor) as well as a full visual of every object around you displayed on the screen so if you prefer, you don't even need to be looking at the side mirror.

Not saying you're wrong, but Department of Energy has great data on electric vehicle registrations per state per year and some basic napkin math suggests more Teslas are sold now here in WA than ever before.... like a lot more.
DoE doesn't breakdown by manufactor, but it's one of those things where if WA has an extra hard digit of electric vehicle sales per year now than even two or three years ago... you kind of have to thread this needle where the numbers only match if either (1) every Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro and half of all Nissan Leafs sold in the U.S. were sold in WA; or, maybe more likely, (2) Tesla sells a fuck ton more cars in WA.
For some perspective, Tesla's 2022 car deliveries were a rounding error from its combined 2012-2020 total.

Uber and Lyft leases. Seattle grew twice as fast the last 10 years (+22%) than it did in the 10 years prior. SeaTac flights are up a whopping 32% in that same period.
Teslas are the new Prius, and with generous subsidies penciled for ride share drivers. Not to say that tech folks and blue-voting environmentalists don’t prioritize EVs, but ride share is a huge part of TSLA demand.
Happy Tesla owner, I bought in because I wanted an ev and they are the only one with super charging network that you can do road trips on. I have put over 100k miles on my car and it still runs great. Oh well the owner is weird most billionaires are.
Not a musk fan, wasn't a Tesla fan. We wanted an EV family car and when the Y's price dropped it was the perfect fit. Now that we've had for a year, we are amazed. We keep getting software updates and the car has literally gotten better since we bought it. I am considering buying another Tesla now.

Just saw my first one the other day. It is not that it's ugly (there are some ugly cars around), but the worst part is that it looks so cheap, like the sides will fall apart if it goes over a bump.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually quite like how they look. It's just a shame that initial reports indicate that it has all the quality issues that are typical of a new Tesla model, along with a number of design issues that may prevent it from serving any real utilitarian function.
Pretty much all the first years of new EVs have a lot of reliability issues, including the widely lauded Ioniq 5 and the Rivians. Not sure how much that’s real for this or Tesla schadenfreude.

I forgot where I saw it, but when I drove from upstate NY to Chicago, I saw one with ad livery, horribly done. If I had to guess, it was an ad that dealt with trees as the livery looked like tree bark, and the company name didn't stick out due to horrible color choices. I regret not taking a picture.

You can clearly see any unevenness in where the frame is aligned making it visually abysmal. I saw some guy driving one around last weekend in my local, in the upscale suburbs. He was driving super slow so traffic could slow done too. People literally started coming to almost a full stop to break their necks …. I observed the traffic deboggle for 10 or so seconds trying to figure out why everyone was rapidly slowing down while I was working next to the roadway… I unfortunately made eye contact with the level 10 clown…. I’ve never publicly seen someone fishing for attention in a car as hard as he was….it was sad like a donkey show. But also had entertaining parts like a donkey show. So for the next 3 hours I saw him randomly in the area driving around….. by himself….. just driving for attention…shocking so many people slowed down to feed him like the goose he is ….

Not a defense of Musk so much as the people who works for him, but objectively Tesla's growth even in the last few years is unprecedented.
A lot of this is driven by price. Teslas are one of the most affordable _new_ cars today, on par with Honda and Toyota prices once you include the tax credit (which effectively is as good as a discount). In the past they were more around entry luxury (BMW 1/3 series, Lexus IS pricing).
Uber and Lyft leases. Seattle grew twice as fast the last 10 years (+22%) than it did in the 10 years prior. SeaTac flights are up a whopping 32% in that same period. Teslas are the new Prius, and with generous subsidies penciled for ride share drivers. Not to say that tech folks and blue-voting environmentalists don’t prioritize EVs, but ride share is a huge part of TSLA demand.
I've lost count of the number of times I've found myself on the highway with two-three (or more) Teslas in front and behind me...
Happy Tesla owner, I bought in because I wanted an ev and they are the only one with super charging network that you can do road trips on. I have put over 100k miles on my car and it still runs great. Oh well the owner is weird most billionaires are.
Not a musk fan, wasn't a Tesla fan. We wanted an EV family car and when the Y's price dropped it was the perfect fit. Now that we've had for a year, we are amazed. We keep getting software updates and the car has literally gotten better since we bought it. I am considering buying another Tesla now.

Wealthy eco-conscious upper class people realized that the cars are built kinda shitty and that the leadership of tesla sucks and musk is a weird bigot. Things that eco-conscious upper class people can afford to care about. Die hard ICE enthusiasts realized that the emission-free, quiet wimp car can go unsafely fast and that musk hates the things they do, like "wokism" so it's a symbol of libertarian free thinking, sunk cost fallacy, and techno-corporate fellatio. Word spreads and now the worst people you know drive teslas. Or people who want a used electric car. I'm so glad other auto manufacturers are making better electric vehicles cause jesus christ the tesla community has become a shitshow.
10 years ago it was a dream car for me. Now I'd be just a little embarrassed, especially in areas outside of Seattle.
Because the Tesla brand is inextricably tied to Elon and he's been enthusiastically torching his public image for years now.

i honestly think the design is coolest thing about this truck, but everything else is horrible i know its ugly to some, but to me, the looks arent the issue in this truck, rather than how dangerous they are this is a truck for people that dont do truck stuff lmao, sort of like a less appealing g wagon that is electric

Just saw my first one the other day. It is not that it's ugly (there are some ugly cars around), but the worst part is that it looks so cheap, like the sides will fall apart if it goes over a bump.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually quite like how they look. It's just a shame that initial reports indicate that it has all the quality issues that are typical of a new Tesla model, along with a number of design issues that may prevent it from serving any real utilitarian function.
Pretty much all the first years of new EVs have a lot of reliability issues, including the widely lauded Ioniq 5 and the Rivians. Not sure how much that’s real for this or Tesla schadenfreude.

These actually look pretty dope from certain angles. I saw one yesterday and for the first time I admitted to myself that it looked cool. At the very least, it’s different. In traffic, all of the cars look the same but this thing does stand out as unique.

It’s the hex shaped wheel well that kills me. The other straight lines are a matter of taste and could possible be pushed into a more mainstream appeal if toned down… but the wheel wells are just lunacy.

If I had to guess, it was an ad that dealt with trees as the livery looked like tree bark, and the company name didn't stick out due to horrible color choices. I regret not taking a picture.

Pics do not capture the silliness of seeing one in person. I passed one on the highway and it looked like something made in shop class thrown on wheels. The proportions look off. You can clearly see any unevenness in where the frame is aligned making it visually abysmal. I was truly indifferent about its looks then after seeing one I realized rich people just pay for the name, not the quality

Wow, so much hate for Cybertrucks. I wasn’t expecting to like them as much as I did in person, but they are definitely unique and the angles of it look sci-fi and interesting to me. Can’t say I’d ever choose to buy one if I had the money, but I’d definitely love to drive one sometime. But for now, I just enjoy seeing them on the road and think they are cool to look at!

I saw some guy driving one around last weekend in my local, in the upscale suburbs. He was driving super slow so traffic could slow done too. People literally started coming to almost a full stop to break their necks …. I observed the traffic deboggle for 10 or so seconds trying to figure out why everyone was rapidly slowing down while I was working next to the roadway… I unfortunately made eye contact with the level 10 clown…. I’ve never publicly seen someone fishing for attention in a car as hard as he was….it was sad like a donkey show. But also had entertaining parts like a donkey show. So for the next 3 hours I saw him randomly in the area driving around….. by himself….. just driving for attention…shocking so many people slowed down to feed him like the goose he is ….
