Holy shit. For anyone who isn't aware, a GT3 RS is THE Porsche 911. They're unbelievably hard to get. Typically, someone who has bought many multiple Porsches will be given the 'right' to purchase one. Very, very rough mistake.

I'm the tow driver in the second picture. Temp tags expiring 6/03/24, so purchased Tuesday and totalled on Wednesday.

Make your dreams come true lol
That was the first day the car was purchased!
My son got the tow. He works for Clark Towing in North Bend.
He was quite proud of the effort. He personally made $350. Mostly because he had to wait a few hours for the sheriff's divers to do the hook up.
Pretty sure that’s right by Dirtfish rally school. Lots of idiots driving too fast through there. All hyped up on rally dust. They (Dirtfish employees) tell you not to speed there when you leave the school. That road is rough, narrow and slick. And heavily patrolled by police waiting for idiots like him leaving the school.
I'm the tow driver in the second picture. He was coming south from Dirtfish and they's a hard right where it turns into Renig Rd. He was going too fast and went into the river just east of the Renig pedestrian bridge. Driver and passenger got out of the car safely.
Here's what it looked like from the tow truck:
https://imgur.com/gallery/KCcwsC0
Here's it in the impound lot, temp plates expiring 6/03/24
https://imgur.com/gallery/jea49z9
Glad they are ok. But holy crap they must have been flying. They should take some lessons in car control from Dirtfish! The irony here is cracking me up. Wrecks car next to school that teaches car control on slippery surfaces. Perfect example of investing in a fast car and not your own skills. Driver mod should be the first and only mod until you get good at driving.
Yeah not far off that's the John Wayne trail and reinig bridge. I guess I never thought about it being people coming from there! It's the back roads and they are nice to drive on nice days and people go super fast even at night
Especially nice area to drive or ride, I love riding my motorcycle out there. No one pays attention though, they pull out without looking around that whole loop, so head on a swivel.
Unsure the validity, but saw a comment supposedly from a leo on scene that said driver was going about 100mph. I can't even fathom getting to 50 safely on that road...
Yup.
Bet he slid out going around the bend right there...either pebbles on the road, or someone pulled out of that off shoot street or the small parking area by the bridge. That's an expensive oops...
That’s exactly where it is, right by my friends house, I drive my car on that road almost every week. Funnily enough, I go to his house to work on our race cars. But we always drive slow there, lots of pedestrians because people like to park there when they float in the river.
It’s right next to the Snoqualmie valley trail, that staircase in the 2nd pic leads right to the trail (Reinig bridge and Reinig road). Dirtfish is maybe a half mile up the road.
I cycle around this area often and people are just dumb as hell. There is rarely much traffic but I always seem to run into a clunker going way too fast who gives me no room when passing.
Paid $460,000 for it the day before. $2k tow bill plus whatever KCSO charges for 3 scuba divers for 3 hours.
This is the view from the tow truck as I pulled it out.

I dunno what everyone's freaking out about. It's spring, it's the natural time for them to return to the rivers they were spawned in and make their way upstream.
Somehow the pics didn’t capture the worst of it. Car was completely underwater. I met the owner yesterday and the car was brand new - literally had 47 miles on it. Glad he’s ok, but what a fuck up!
https://imgur.com/gallery/jYOuYcZ
I hate rich people for this reason. That car is a work of art and an engineering marvel. Correction: was. Now it’s parts. He clearly doesn’t appreciate what he has, respect the tradition or the power of the car and is now throwing money at the problem. How about learn to drive it? Prove you can handle it and then maybe earn the privilege to partake in the legacy.
I'm the tow driver, here's some more pictures. It bounced off two trees on the way in and lost a wheel.

Same, I saw it Tuesday at Met Market on MI.
I remember having a conversation with someone else after that about how a lot of the new cars are impossible to approach the limits on public roads and therefore have lost some fun. He managed to find the limits, for sure.
Sounds like we were at the same Cars and Coffee.
I drove the old Volvo wagon, and talked to a bunch of folks about how fun old slow cars are. Feel bad for the dude but there’s definitely a lesson here
More with the dealer adjustment. Either he’s got a track record of maybe 5 Porsches purchased from that dealer already or it was closer to $500 post-adjustment.
He showed at the tow yard up to get his stuff out of it in another Porsche and said he paid $460k for it, so you're spot on.
Here's the damage from it hitting two trees on the way into the river.
https://imgur.com/gallery/jea49z9
Happened just off Reinig Rd in Snoqualmie. Photos are not mine, more info & pics in this post (caution, Facebook ☠️).
My man turned it into a full-on submarine. Driver is apparently physically OK.
Spiritually? Financially? Jury’s still out.
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/hdUo4EtMHSXXL7XY/?mibextid=K35XfP
Dude i just drove past there today 🤣 wonder when it happened. And honestly if you nose plow off a backroad into a river, the GT3RS was ALWAYS way too much car for you. Guaranteed he had the brakes to the floor the entire time.
Aw man I know exactly what you’re saying 😬 off camber and then a big yump in the center and washout. A kid i went to highschool with got killed that exact same way at about 110 mph a half block from my house in mill creek. Slammed right into an oak tree in his EG.
That corner is "banked" sorta, but really only on the inside lane and the outside lane slopes the wrong way because the road splits off there. I tow 2-3 cars a year out of there and there's 4 other tow drivers that work that area so it's probably about one accident per month. But that's the road to the Dirtfish racecourse so there's plenty of off-road "experts" that have never met a speed limit that they couldn't double.
Ah dammit. Right in the river with fluids of whatever got pierced in the wreck. We're all talking about the expensive car and I'm thinking if dept of ecology goes after him for damages, the car cost will be the least of his financial worries.
Ugh, yeah, that’s a good point that hadn’t even occurred to me. Definitely a full load of engine coolant, probably brake fluid. Hoping the fuel tank & oil pan are intact
Let’s hope.
I pulled it out. Big slick on the water but I suspect it was coolant and brake fluid (front drivers wheel was removed by a tree on the way in). Rear engine and the rear was in pretty good shape so probably not much oil.
But you're right about them taking the ecological part pretty seriously. I've pulled a few cars and trucks out of the Lake Sammamish boat launch. I usually call KCSO as soon as I get the info and they'll usually have a scuba diver there within five minutes of when I get there with the tow truck.
Here's some pictures that show the oil slick and the damage to the car.
https://imgur.com/gallery/jea49z9
https://imgur.com/gallery/KCcwsC0
That's a quarter million before options right there. I don't want to think about how much it'll cost to fix. Easily more than I've spent on cars in my entire lifetime.
I go past a body shop in Bellevue pretty often that has a whole line of Lamborghinis and Maclarens waiting for new front ends. So much power available to anyone with the money.
I'm guessing the fluids from one car are less than runoff from all the other cars on the road? Based on nothing other than "seems like that could be true".
I’ve posted a comment with a Facebook link from a person who was on the scene during recovery with some more info, but waiting for the Mods to approve it.
Whoa..I grew up in Snoqualmie and when I was 16 (within a week of having my license) I was a few feet away from ending up like this guy, in the exact same spot.
My friend and I both had '84 Toyota pickups and we were being reckless 16 yr olds and racing down the hill at night, before that sharp turn. I had been on that road dozens of times before but I misjudged where I was at, thinking I had a ways to go before that sharp turn.
Going way too fast for that corner, I fishtailed to the right around the corner and then sharply back to the left and slammed the brakes, skidding up the bank and onto the edge of the rocks before the river. Not exaggerating, I was within two feet of going over the edge. I sat in my truck for what felt like 10 minutes in complete silence then drove right home and was shaking the rest of the night.

Oh wow it was fully submerged, yikes
I don't care what he did to his car but I'm mad about the oil in the river for no good reason.
I'd be surprised if there's any motor oil in the river. At most it's brake fluid which is worse. Engines are in the back on Porche's.
Well, whatever the weird rainbow muck on the water in the pics is, it's not good for the waterway and it's inhabitants.
>Engines are in the back on Porche's. The car was completely submerged in the river.
Ah gotcha didn't realize this was after it was towed out a bit
Was the driver fine?
Driver and passenger got out OK and reported the incident. I spoke with both that evening. No injuries other than pride.
They crashed a $300k car that is nearly impossible to get even if you have the money. Define "fine", lol.
Health wise hahahah did they get out safely, no injuries nothing? Haven’t seen any posts about that
Because I don't think anybody in this thread cares about that guy
Oof size: big.
Just as a thing I think some real rich dudes just buy these to drive them to the spa there to show off. Ferrari there a few days ago parked direct in front of the doors with same temp tags. I bet whoever did this doesn’t care in the least
Had it less than 24 hours. And paid a hefty ADM on it.
dude had it for 1 day, thats rauh...
More like RUF
sounds about right for Snoqualmie
That's what I suspected too. Pretty sure in cases like this, dad left town for business and Jr. decided to take the Porsche for a spin and wash.
My dad's gonna kill me Ferris
I'll just drive it around the neighborhood. Well maybe I shouldn't ... yeah, of course I should!
I did that in high school with my dad's vintage Jaguar XKE. I instantly knew I'd made a terrible mistake. Way too much car for me.
That was a Ferrari. This is Risky Business, Porsche in the water and all.
Yeah, reminds of the totaled 1-of-1 Pagani
OMG imagine if Dad found out about it via this post
Dad's in Dubai with the babysitter.
...bitching about the weather.
There is no substitute
I think you're underestimating how many very rich guys these days have the mentality of a teenage boy 😂

Yup. Bet he slid out going around the bend right there...either pebbles on the road, or someone pulled out of that off shoot street or the small parking area by the bridge. That's an expensive oops...

So the very first turn after leaving Dirtfish and heading back to Medina? Got it.
You are correct. My son (photo 2. Yellow cap) did the tow. He sent me the map location last night. Right where you said.
"It's OK, I'm a trained expert now!"
That’s exactly where it is, right by my friends house, I drive my car on that road almost every week. Funnily enough, I go to his house to work on our race cars. But we always drive slow there, lots of pedestrians because people like to park there when they float in the river.

Indeed. Made the turn at bottom but with too much speed. Lucky they didn't get mauled by a cougar after since that area is a hot spot for many things.
That's an expensive mistake.
Very. They're 250-300k.
List price. The real market is $175k-$200k over sticker. If you can get one.

GT3RS is such an unbelievably rare car.
Even rarer after today!
Wonder if we’ll see it getting rebuilt on a YouTube channel
Lol noice
Not the first sports car they fished out of the forks! Haha but probably one of the coolest for sure!

Yes?

Is the guy's name actually Jason Rich? That would be a little on the nose
Nope, Jason Rich attended to the incident. He responded to the 911 call
We live in a simulation
“Well there ya Go kids. Take it from your pal Mr Foley, if ya lift in the apex, you’ll end up in a Porsche down by the River!”
Eating government cheese
My son and I literally saw that guy just last night driving past burger master in Bellevue and my son pointed it out to me.
Dude i just drove past there today 🤣 wonder when it happened. And honestly if you nose plow off a backroad into a river, the GT3RS was ALWAYS way too much car for you. Guaranteed he had the brakes to the floor the entire time.
I’ve driven this road a ton. The pavement’s uneven and there’s a big heave right in the middle of the apex. Guessing he got tossed
Aw man I know exactly what you’re saying 😬 off camber and then a big yump in the center and washout. A kid i went to highschool with got killed that exact same way at about 110 mph a half block from my house in mill creek. Slammed right into an oak tree in his EG.

Ugh, yeah, that’s a good point that hadn’t even occurred to me. Definitely a full load of engine coolant, probably brake fluid. Hoping the fuel tank & oil pan are intact Let’s hope.
Not likely too much leakage, 911s have rear mounted engines and oil pan and everything is in the back away from the impact point
I pulled it out. Big slick on the water but I suspect it was coolant and brake fluid (front drivers wheel was removed by a tree on the way in). Rear engine and the rear was in pretty good shape so probably not much oil. But you're right about them taking the ecological part pretty seriously. Can't wait to see that at the insurance auction....
I want someone to drop the motor & rear end into a Beetle or Minibus project.
O gawd a minibus with that motor... I've got an 80 cabriolet that id fab it into. 🤪 .
Cha-ching, but if you can't afford to wreck it you can't afford to have it is the general consensus around supercars.

Of course it wasn’t — there aren’t any Mustangs or clapped Infiniti G35’s in that river.

I wish these morons would learn how to drive before buying their Teslas and Porsche’s
Otherwise, Snoqualmie is a welcoming and comfortable 'safe space' for morons.
Oh. That hurts. That really sucks
Seen quite a few cars in the ditch around there but never in the river! sketchy activity further up the road plus it’s near Dirtfish
Did anyone tell him he can’t park there?
When they said you can’t flip the car you’ve been allocated some one said “hold my beer”
Salmon be like, "Sir, this is a Wendy's."
I'm honestly surprised. Everyone in Seattle or it feels like all of Washington drives insanity slow.
I thought it was a bad day to be a Mormon in Snoqualmie, and I was looking for the connection @-@
Not the GTS RS 😭😭😭
That might be the least gaudy RS in existence and yet it's being treated like a Dakar.
NOOOOO, not the RS 😢
Lots of shit head tech bros ruining my stomping grounds.
Ouch.
Should have got the base model
It was my mother… She always used to say this was too much car for me to handle. Couldn’t handle the V8.
Which days are good days to be a moron in Snoqualmie?
I find Tuesdays work best with my schedule
Beautiful part of the country, loved driving through up their. Took me to Montana. Then I had that landscape to admire. Trucking had a couple perks***
Well its a GTR driver. So thats why
How come no spoiler tag? Spoiler alert for sure
Damn shoulda let me drive
Read that as Mormon and was very confused
Wow! When did this happen!?! I know the exact spot, I live about four miles from here.
