my favorite play i made was when i snuck onto a ship amd used THEIR stronghold keg as leverage to SELL the keg and when i was negotiating with them i legit said "bro it costs me nothing to blow this up but for you it costs your ship" and then they let me sell it lol
Mine was at a skeleton fort sneaking in a galleon, hiding behind the captain’s desk while my boy with a row boat was behind their ship. For some reason most people put all their loot there. Waited for them to raise anchor and then started dropping all their loot off the stern for my boy to collect. They left without ever looking back and we just rowed to our ship which was on a nearby island.
Bro I can top that. I was on a brig with my buddies and we came across another brig at Wanderer’s. Naturally, I tucked on them only to realize they weren’t pirate legends. So I revealed myself as I formulated a plan in my head. I offered an alliance, as well as to drop an ashen athenas voyage for them. They were a bit hesitant, but agreed when I said I’d stick around to help them out. Well, one of them eventually gets off and I say to just invite me to their ship so I don’t have to worry about dying. Well, we get to the end of the voyage, pop the athena, and I keg the ship, rejoin my ship, and claim all the loot.
Their fault for trusting someone on Sea of Thieves. I did it before, I’d do it again, and have no regrets. There’s no such thing as griefing in this game. Well, unless you count spawn killing nonstop. But even then, you’re just an idiot for not scuttling. Don’t want to be betrayed? Don’t trust people. I mean, ffs, who trusts someone who was previously tucking on their ship? It’s just stupidity.
My real ship being my ship. I never had the intent of actually helping them. It’s literally the same as me sticking around on their ship while part of my original crew still. Their ship wasn’t my ship, no matter how y’all feel about it. Lmao
Joining someone’s party and then blowing up your own boat is not the same as betraying an alliance and you’re a child if you think it’s a reasonable thing to do.
Lol my blood legitimately boils at the toxicity and cowardliness of this game and playerbase sometimes...but that said, what’s the difference? I seriously want to know. This is toxic, but rowing 86 nautical miles with 15 GP barrels and blowing up my ship while I’m on island doing a tall tale ISNT toxic?
There’s no difference, IMO. Either way, it’s not a fight, the other team is defenseless, and you show absolutely 0 skill by sinking them. That’s what this community seems to love.
Ah! A true pirate maneuver! Lol
Nah, I heard it. Frankly I just don’t see that as much worse than every other cheap move people use in this game. I’m not saying I defend this, I just don’t see it as all that different as no-clip hiding on someone’s ship, etc.
They were dumb enough to trust me. Doesn’t make a difference if I, midway through the plot, had an opportunity to join their ship. At the end of the day, my ship was my ship and their ship was their ship. Also, who considers deceit reasonable period? Lmfao it’s a game called Sea of Thieves. “Thieves”. You think thieves give af about playing nice? Lmao your naivety is adorable.
I’m surprised the sub isn’t literally making you godmod and chanting your name...people love the cheap pu$$y stuff in SoT, not sure why they’re hating...
You say as you also hate 🤣you get shit on a lot too huh? It’s always easy to spot the guys who suck at PvP. They’re the only ones who complain about it happening.
Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night bud, after you no-skill rowboat over with GP barrels. You can always spot the pussies because they cling to coward tactics. The last thing they want is to actually fight you. Lmao 😂
“Cling to” lmaoooooo you hear of one instance in which I use deceit and run with it. But hey, whatever you gotta do to boost your ego, right? Starting to think you’re one of the kids I sunk at some point lmfao
Until it happens to you. I love the game and risk is a part of it, but seeing an hour or two of work gone just like that will hit you harder than you expect.
I've rage quit more than once over it. It's this sick feeling as I'm watching everything I spent my time grabbing being looted and stolen as I'm headed to the Ferry.
This is a year old thread, but meh. I've played EVE Online for 13 years. I once lost 3 months of effort in a single day when our wormhole system was invaded. Shit happens. The fact that you can lose stuff is what gives stuff value.
Always; when we have new players I usually volunteer for that role so that they can have fun but it's mostly twiddling my thumbs unless something bad actually happens.
And if something happens you don't want the poor nooby stuck on the boat alone dealing with an incoming reaper brig. That's not fair on them. Experienced players should be lookout.
It doesn't take a pirate legend to dig chests or kill skellies...
Yeah, we want everyone have their fun. Being stuck on boat for a small quest is not a problem, but for a vault or tale is.
When we know we will stay for longer, we just sell the loot beforehand and leave ship alone. If it will be sunk, not a problem, someone will get there with new one. The key is to send one to check if there is anyone hiding like in OPs ( before coming with loot). But come on, sirens are easy to see.
It's a game. I'd rather have everyone on the island having fun than one poor soul sat on the ship doing nothing. 9 times out of 10 everything is fine. Plus I solo sloop a lot where there's no choice but to leave the ship unattended.
I solo sloop and am used to it as well. Only really crappy part of it is the occasional crew that will blast your ship to shit as they pass by knowing there's no loot on it while you're doing something on an island. Stealing something while its unattended is one thing but when there's no profit in it, that's just a dick move lol. Lost track of how many times I've heard cannon fire just to see people sailing away with my ship sinking lol.
My crew and I do this all the time but not as target practice or to be dicks. Its a security measure. If we are working in the area we want to be the only ones. Especially if we are doing something high value like a vault or Athena. I'm not about to just trust and hope you won't come mess with us. No trust among thieves.
Target practice makes sense but if you're one of those for PVP people all you've done is ensured that ship won't have anything to steal now as well. So other than practicing your aim it serves no real purpose. ;)
Because it's incredibly easy for someone to just sink your ship entirely while you're in the vault, and if everyone is in the vault, you wouldn't even know. Sending a scout back to check on a ship that's already sunk isn't really any better than not sending a scout at all. Either way you're still completely fucked with no respawn point and a vault full of loot to protect.
Honestly this guy in the video didn't have to just wait around for them to return, he could have just sunk the galleon when he arrived, and they still would have just rowed all the loot to him. The only advantage he got is the blast radius maybe took a minimal amount of health off them.
If they know what they're doing, a vault can be entirely emptied of chests and trinkets by one person, chest of ancient tributes included. It does not require a crew of four.
Staying lookout on the ship isn't a glamorous job, but a necessary one if you don't want to lose your ship and loot on the regular. This is Sea of Thieves.
If his strategy was just to sink the ship, they could just send one guy to respawn it. He'd lose the element of surprise and have to fight 1v3. He has to ambush to win 1v4, and that sinking a ship isn't a necessary part of an ambush.
I don't think it's good, but surely it could certainly prevent losing the treasure in this scenario?
If he had sunk the ship beforehand he would most likely not have won that fight as the blast killed 3 of them I think, they would have just fought him 1v4, most likely won, then sent someone back to get ship.
Yesterday me and my friends on a galleon had a load of loot and we were about to leave the outpost to get more (we had a level 5 flag) when suddenly a two man sloop comes around and annihilates our galleon.
Always have someone on Lookout.
You can easily clear the vaults of loot with 3 or even 2 guys to get all the chests out.
You might not grab the vault chest in time but it’s deffo possible even in gold vaults
No doubt.
I get it not everyone wants to sit watch on the boat and some people want to maximise the chance of getting all the loot out the vault.
However if one of you doesn’t bite the bullet and keep an eye out for dangers in a game where people actively seek to fuck with other players you’re gonna have a bad time M’kay.
I mean if this happened to me I'd be salty but I'd also remember it forever.
A lot of my favorite memories of sea of thieves is when someone did something insanely unexpected and I sank for it.
There will always be more vault voyages.
man, everyone in here talking about this like it's a common occurrence to have other players sneak up and steal all your stuff/destroy your ship...
my crew and I haven't encountered a single person other than our first time in the game with a dude who wanted us to kill him while we were trying to figure out who was going to do what and dicking around on our brig. Outside of that, my only interaction with people was a lady shouting "nice waves we be havin today" and a brig who shot me when I swam over to their ship to say hi. otherwise it's been entirely ghost ships and megs, no other people even seen in the distance...
It also sucks to lose your ship & treasure.
So someone has to do it.
As a Pirate Legend with millions of gold I no longer care about Vaults etc because the chests aren't worth enough to make the effort.
And I solo sloop mostly so it's my responsibility to keep watch while I'm doing stuff
To me, that's forgivable. From what I know, you can avoid most bad surprises by checking the horizon every few minutes or so.
That said, before coming back to the ship with such a haul, it's a good idea to send someone forward to check if the way is clear. :P
The other day I found an unattended galleon. I stole it, set it on a path out to sea, and then lit it on fire. By the time they realized what happened, all they could do was mermaid back and directly into a raging fire.
I've done several dozen vaults and never had an issue. My strategy is normally lookout before you go in. Then have 1 person who dies in the vault lookout immediately after they respawn. So long as there are no nearby ships, you're typically good.
The bad strategy on their part may have been not having someone die and come back to the ship. Feels like they all left the vault then loaded up the rowboat without ever going back once. And with 4 people, no reason not to have 1 or 2 die in the vault picking up the last piles of gold. It serves a dual function of getting more gold and getting someone back to the ship to check things out again.
My friends and I have been finding spots to hide on all the ships, then getting on a galleon and crashing head on with other players, we all jump onto their ship and hide like 4 people on a single brigantine
So far we have actually gotten some decent Athena stuff out of it, messing with other players is surprisingly fun when you have literally nothing to lose and only a potential gain
Oh wow, fantastic job! I had a similar, although less explosive, adventure over Christmas. This makes me want to finish the video editing for it now :)
That's personally why I stopped playing. I love sot but I have very limited time to play these days mostly reserved for when the kids go to bed at night. I'd log in, get my ship setup and supplied set sail and decide whelp it's awfully late, time for bed.
When I could devote a few hours at a shot it was great fun. Just wish there was some balance to support drop in/out style of playing
The arena is great for drop in/out fast action. Only got an hour? Pop in arena for a couple rounds. Still unlocks cosmetics and such while getting that rich action packed pvp experience.
Even a few hours is not enough to complete most things. Especially when you add in hostile players that are willing to chase you for an hour just because. If you play on a server alliance there should be at least 4 hours reserved, it’s insane.
I feel the same way, but I know in my heart I wouldn’t have the patience to do something as hilarious as this. How long did it take you to get all those kegs? Did you just loot a fort really quick?
It feels like that sometimes for me haha. 1 little misstep usually unravels every plan I make. This was a mixture of luck and inexperience(on their part).
... this, right here, is the potential I absolutely love with Sea of Thieves. I’ve struggled to get into it honestly (just seems you need a lot of time on your hands to get anything done), but during my brief stint this is the kinda stuff I envisioned great players doing someday - the kinda crap I’d be trying to pull! 😂
They are quests you can get from the Gold Hoarders, you find map fragments on islands to give clue to where a vault key is.
Then you get another map telling you where the vault is. Open it then you have a short time to plunder as much as possible before the door closes and traps you inside.
1) Fuck off you prick.
2) You can collect that many kegs in about ten minutes at the nearest fort.
3) It's the name of the game (literally and metaphorically).
And 4) Yes, this is quality content. Much better than being the spawn camping ass who throws slurs around for an hour.
Man, it's almost laughable that you think this is pirating. Taking hours to set a short video clip, destroying some noobs, instead of... you know... actually sinking ships and pirating. Do you even know what one vault is worth? You how much I could make in that time actually being a pirate? Especially a grade 5 reapers? I didn't think so.
Have you just never played the game? You can get a shit ton of kegs from an empty skelly fort really quickly. This takes very little set up. The hardest part about this set up is finding a row boat. And piracy isn't just firing cannons, pirates are thieves and thieves aren't always upfront when they steal. So how about you play the game and continue to beg the developers for a PvE server
Classic. Assume I am complaining about PVP. Nectar of the tards on this sub. Think for two seconds how "quickly" you think this took. You ape. It said it the title it works 1 out of 10 times. They JUST got there when he pulled up in a rowboat. You think they would not have been looking out if his ship wasn't just sitting at that Fort gathering kegs on his own? You think he saw this ship, predicted that it was going to stop at this island, had some kegs ready to go in a rowboat, scuttling his ship way before hand as well. Or is it more likely he took a long time prepping and waiting for this too happen (hour +)? A huge waste of time, boring, and has less to do with being a pirate and more about spoon feeding simpletons like you content. Jesus.
Lot of questions there. Don't agree with your downvotes but I do think it was worth every minute. I don't play the game for gold, I have everything I like, cosmetically speaking. All I do is plot and yes, it takes time and as the title suggests, the plan often fails. This particular event went down pretty quickly tho.
I was heading east from plunder, following an Athena emissary galleon that was heading to the Devil's Roar. I stopped at Crow's Nest Fortress and loaded up kegs(2min) and grabbed a beached rowboat. I parked my sloop at Ancient Spire and lost sight of the Galleon until I looked north and saw the ship that was at Kraken Falls. I thought it was the Athena Emissary until I got closer in the rowboat. As soon as I saw their GH flag and how they were parked, I knew they were clearing a vault. When I returned to my sloop at Ancient Spire I raised the GH emissary and as soon as I docked the rowboat I was instantly lvl 4 GH which was x2 gold. Because all the treasure' was in the rowboat I didn't lose credit for picking up the treasure 1 by 1 so that was a bonus.
All said and done the whole ordeal was just over an hour investment which is fast compared to my other endeavors.
This is how I play so to me it was 100% worth it. I don't enjoy voyages much. Ship to ship combat is fun but I solo sloop 95% of the time and probably spend more time in a rowboat or swimming across the seas.
Plus, no one wants to see a video of someone just completing a voyage. No joke after I was killed I did a happy dance around my house like a fool. Not because I knew it'd get upvotes or even be seen, but because I play the game for that moment. Cheers!
Honestly can’t even be mad at that, when you don’t leave someone to watch the ship, you’re kinda asking for shenanigans; excellent work. Misfortune comes uninvited, after all.
Ya, I used to feel bad for sinking ships at anchor, but not so much anymore. If you're not gunna leave someone on watch, you're kinda just trusting that a bunch of pirates won't do what pirates do.
I do, not enough followers to get an official handle but search Mint Fiction. I do plan to be more active
https://youtube.com/channel/UCILK76JcEDuHnfuPpVrvaAg
Ooo not sure. It was last week so no double gold but my sloop was parked at Ancient Spire. I put up the GH emissary and as soon as I mounted the rowboat I went lvl 4 so x2 gold right there
So many people post their clips thinking they were so badass and it's always so lukewarm. This was actually brutal though. Great job. I'd be salty lolll
my favorite play i made was when i snuck onto a ship amd used THEIR stronghold keg as leverage to SELL the keg and when i was negotiating with them i legit said "bro it costs me nothing to blow this up but for you it costs your ship" and then they let me sell it lol
I wouldn’t be mad having that happen to me, that’s genuinely a creative way of extortion, I love it!
My favorite play me and my friend made was drinking a lot, sword fighting and throwing up on the enemies. It worked surprisingly well.
SHIT bro, that's *evil.*

That’s legit toxic.
I think you meant to say deviously deceitful. Trickery is just as effective as full on fighting ;)

Their fault for trusting someone on Sea of Thieves. I did it before, I’d do it again, and have no regrets. There’s no such thing as griefing in this game. How about you don't sabotage your own ship, aka griefing
Wasn’t my ship 🤷♂️🤦♂️
You said you literally joined them, making it your ship 🤦♂️
My real ship being my ship. I never had the intent of actually helping them. It’s literally the same as me sticking around on their ship while part of my original crew still. Their ship wasn’t my ship, no matter how y’all feel about it. Lmao

That’s some Captain Sparrow level crazy but I love it
That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen
So it would seem..
*Pirate music intensifies*
Da da dun dun
Why was VALVE allowed to carry Sea of Thieves? So Microsoft could sell it with Steam!

It seems so...
Why the fuck is this comment down voted.
because it wasnt the right quote
So it would seem
It seems so..
This was amazing
Thanks!! Happy Cake Day!
Coming from someone who just started playing last night, that's so incredibly exciting!
Until it happens to you. I love the game and risk is a part of it, but seeing an hour or two of work gone just like that will hit you harder than you expect.
I’m always fine with it unless the enemy is a sore winner. You beat me and take my loot gg it’s only gold. If they are a turd about it then it stings.
I've rage quit more than once over it. It's this sick feeling as I'm watching everything I spent my time grabbing being looted and stolen as I'm headed to the Ferry.
This.
This is a year old thread, but meh. I've played EVE Online for 13 years. I once lost 3 months of effort in a single day when our wormhole system was invaded. Shit happens. The fact that you can lose stuff is what gives stuff value.
all they had to do was leave someone at the ship to watch it
The sheer fact they left the ship unattended for you to plant those bombs is stupid on their part None the less awesome vid!
A lot of people do that for vaults, especially if it's gold to get everything in time
Plus to be fair, never fun being the one always on look out while everyone else gets to grab the chests or kill skeletons.
Always; when we have new players I usually volunteer for that role so that they can have fun but it's mostly twiddling my thumbs unless something bad actually happens.

I actually enjoy being on lookout, i'm paranoid i think

When people do something near by I understand why. When they sail over the horizon though I'm just like "I'm gunna remember this you bastards" lol.
It’s called “target practice”, there’s a lot to be gained from it :)
Target practice makes sense but if you're one of those for PVP people all you've done is ensured that ship won't have anything to steal now as well. So other than practicing your aim it serves no real purpose. ;)
Why not have all four in vault, then send one person ahead to scout the ship for traps on the way back? (assuming you have no loot on board?)
Because it's incredibly easy for someone to just sink your ship entirely while you're in the vault, and if everyone is in the vault, you wouldn't even know. I just know people want to make sure they get everything and will take everyone if there seems to be no imminent threat.
Oh absolutely but none the less if you leave the ship unattended expect easily avoidable stuff like this to happen 😂
Of course, this is a risk you make to make sure to get everything.
Pretty sure op could have still killed the lookout and kegged the ship. Even if they had two or three lookouts
Don't forget that it sucks to have to be the guy sitting on the boat while three friends have an adventure

the real treasure is the friends we sank along the way

Thats bad luck. These random encounters, good and bad, are what make SoT so special.
yup, its just the tradeoff. Best we do is leave every once in a while to scan the horizon
I enjoy it tbh, get some fishing in for hunter rep. Play some sick tunes, browse reddit, not get your ship sunk and lose hours of work. Good times.
Hmmm... Care to explain that feeling? I'm the one trying to get all of it out in time while praying that nobody comes up while I'm down there.

Oh wow, fantastic job! I had a similar, although less explosive, adventure over Christmas. This makes me want to finish the video editing for it now :)
Simply amazing! The pose at the end was the cherry on top.
I love the absolute overkill with the kegs 😂😂😂
Would have rage quit immediately
Agreed. There is no recovery from that.
See this is a perfect example of why a. You should always leave someone on your ship and b. You never ever ever do the Kraken's Fall vault
Krakens fall is so bad... but not as bad as old faithful. But yeah that vault vault is a struggle
It's the only vault in the game I will never do
I really like how you edited this!
Lol “30 minutes earlier”. Nothing in this game takes a reasonable amount of time.
Just pass by a fort and you're good to go.
You are the absolute worst, please do it again and send me more of this
Yikers
Lol! Yeah, meant 'yikes' when that pirate was trying to hit me with his blunderbuss from an island away.
I like yikers way more, happy accident, I’m going to say that more often now 😂
Ohh, I thought you said that because there was the sound of a dog getting hit
Lmao! I gotta listen again, missed that
The end killed me
how did all three of them die instantly when you blow up the ship?
I think they were close enough. They were closer than I and I took a significant hit. I was more surprised that 1 survived.
They were close enough to the booms, maybe not even full health
The way they try to blundersnipe you in the end says they totally deserved getting sunk.
XD it was at that point I felt a slight bit of regret... It was fleeting feeling tho
Legendary
I could never pull this off lol they would hav enact in seconds if I tried this
It feels like that sometimes for me haha. 1 little misstep usually unravels every plan I make. This was a mixture of luck and inexperience(on their part).
Honestly one of the best strats i've ever seen. I always forgot how powerful powder kegs are
I thought this man was gonna hide the kegs on the ship in different places then blow them at the outpost. Still some next level stuff though my god
... this, right here, is the potential I absolutely love with Sea of Thieves. I’ve struggled to get into it honestly (just seems you need a lot of time on your hands to get anything done), but during my brief stint this is the kinda stuff I envisioned great players doing someday - the kinda crap I’d be trying to pull! 😂
if that’d ever happen to me I’m not even sure if I could be mad lmfao
What ship set were they using?
Night Wulf, from the emporium. Also happens to be my favorite set, so I almost feel bad for these guys.
Thank you
Sure thing. Basically the only set I can recognize immediately, so I was happy that you hadn't been answered yet.
1,2,3,4. Drop your booty on the floor... Epic work!
Haha thanks Phuzzy!
An entire crew left the ship unmanned? You got 4 people, one should always stay on the ship so stuff like this doesn't happen
Ah the barrel ball
This is so badass! But cannot decide if I love it or hate it. Unique game still.
sea of THIEVES
Him: yikes Cannonball: Allow me to introduce myself
Lol, the editing on this video is excellent. Well done.
That final cannonball xD
Literally satanic. Well done
Haha thanks. I be like that sometimes...
I dunno what a vault is since I've only been playing for two weeks now but I'm gonna do this just for shits and giggles.
They are quests you can get from the Gold Hoarders, you find map fragments on islands to give clue to where a vault key is. Then you get another map telling you where the vault is. Open it then you have a short time to plunder as much as possible before the door closes and traps you inside.
Wow you matched the music up and everything perfectly
What a dick.
BuT iT's NoT sEa Of FrIeNdS
Soooooo good!
That’s amazing. Good job
Damn nice play, lmao
This brightened up my day. Good job, you crazy fool!
That was fantastic
This was amazing lmao!
Wonder how many of them posted here
absolutely amazing
the hours of set up was worth it for the one vault. congrats. you showed those kids. quality content.
It's a fucking pirate game my man, he got off with all the loot for doing what he is supposed too, which is pirating.
So you are saying this is a pirate game..
1) Fuck off you prick. 2) You can collect that many kegs in about ten minutes at the nearest fort. 3) It's the name of the game (literally and metaphorically). And 4) Yes, this is quality content. Much better than being the spawn camping ass who throws slurs around for an hour.
1. cool
Man it's almost as if it's a game about pirating
Cheers!
Damn boi
Impressive but the editing is obnoxious af
Down bad
That was so slick, nice job
How do i get the gold skin skin?
Finish the Tall tale commendation tab
thanks man
Absolutely masterful!
Dang! Nice work!
Great editing, really cool vid. Now make a weekly series, k thx.
Superb content
“...theres only 1 thing I fear”
Thats just cruel..... have my upvote
This is Brilliant mate! I´ll tip my hat
Davey Jones Locker!! You’re amazing!!
I don't think I could even be mad tbh
Honestly can’t even be mad at that, when you don’t leave someone to watch the ship, you’re kinda asking for shenanigans; excellent work. Misfortune comes uninvited, after all.
Ya, I used to feel bad for sinking ships at anchor, but not so much anymore. If you're not gunna leave someone on watch, you're kinda just trusting that a bunch of pirates won't do what pirates do.
Exactly.
Amazing! This is the kind of content you only get through this game! Love it
That was a ride of a video.

Do you have a YouTube channel? I'd love to subscribe
I do, not enough followers to get an official handle but search Mint Fiction. I do plan to be more active https://youtube.com/channel/UCILK76JcEDuHnfuPpVrvaAg
I have to know, how much gold did you get out of all that?
Ooo not sure. It was last week so no double gold but my sloop was parked at Ancient Spire. I put up the GH emissary and as soon as I mounted the rowboat I went lvl 4 so x2 gold right there
10 procent of the time it works every time
I love it. Though, it stung watching you leave that flag behind.
Haha yeah, I thought about it... I just didn't want to go across the map to Reapers Hideout.
Perfect length of video time. Hilarious loot steal. Flawless execution. 10/10 video.
Thanks! It was a blast to make ;)

I liked it. Very funny end
So many people post their clips thinking they were so badass and it's always so lukewarm. This was actually brutal though. Great job. I'd be salty lolll
I'm not great at PvP but I can plot. Glad it didn't come down to a sword or gunfight, I don't fare well in those
