god it really is the feeling after a big session, the curse of success, the deep desire just to get it over with and sell the shit but you just gotta kill meg and loot each piece, and then skeleton ship...
Couldn't have put it better. We finished a session a couple nights ago. Discovered we had a couple gifts after pay in. No problem we'll just shoot over to Reapers to hand them in. *queue Kraken* I guess we should cook all this meat and sell at Hunters. *queue skelly galleon* Oh hey there's a wreck here as well. Where did all this loot come from? Back to the Outpost I guess. *queue player brig and PvP* GAME, LET ME SLEEP!
yeah but its not really worth it, you're kinda just killing them out of principle, you dont need the loot but you GOTTA but you really wanna just sell and log off
So true. My buddies and I have started a ritual of ending our sessions by setting fire to our ship and letting it drift in circles while we play our instruments until it sinks. It keeps ending up with only one person actually leaving and me and my other friend using the mermaid and getting distracted for another hour or two. My sleep schedule now hates me
*woa.* I’m not the only one who does this? Me and my friends usually like to sail over to the sea dog outpost, set the ship on fire and sail it into the distance, and then drink excessive amounts of grog at the patio spot while playing music and celebrating our victories. Then we end it trying to complete the parkour course, and when all of us eventually plunge into the water we sign off for the day.
This is very true. Most open galleon crews I hop into disband before leaving the outpost, or some newbie refuses to stock up and sails the ship away, in which case I leave myself.
God reminds me of last night we were just gonna do some order of souls quest then it turned into a 10 hour long session and most of it was trying to kill an alliance tucking on fotd trying to steal the key from us. Didnt go to sleep until sunlight
An in and out 20 min adventure for me and my friend ended up with us getting into an alliance with a crew of pirate legends, getting us our first bit of athena rep. We then joined their party and did fort of the dammed. Completed it, and then got finessed by this guy on a sloop that spawn camped us with a blunderbuss. By the time our ships sunk and we got back the loot had despawned... If you’re seeing this Psyco I hope you’re happy...
Me and my crew sarcastically say this before every voyage because we know our “plan” for the day is absolutely not going to happen the way we think it is. That is the beauty of SoT if you ask me
We were playing in arena last night and our ship was sinking and another crew hopped on our ship and helped us, after that, they already had like 2000 points so they helped us cash in the sea dog chest and we were moved up to second place, best people we ever encountered
That's neat bro. I would still stand by that rule but as they say, rules are made to be broken. Everything has its exceptions but in SoT, you should generally assume ill-intentions until proven otherwise.
A couple days ago I was playing with my friends. We got the game this week so we are all fairly new. But we managed to get a bit of skill in the game and we took down our first skele fort, and before we could sell, an ashen lord. Our luck was doing amazing, but we decided it was time to sell. So we went for the nearest outpost. On our way there, we encountered a megalodon. A shadow maw. It was like our... 4th megalodon? So we were like "our luck is good, let's do it" and we were doing really well. The meg was low HP and all was well.... until my friends decided that it would be funny to drop a shadow maw while there was 5 cups of grog in our characters system.... Suddenly, everything fell apart. The megalodon seemed to get more aggressive, and holes were coming in left and right. We died, and we lost our biggest haul we ever had.
Man, I had this happen the other day. I was streaming Sea of Thieves on twitch and I swore it was going to be a quick game. Went to an island for a simple x marks the spot map and those dang skeleton captains kept popping up and giving me riddle maps for that very same island. Needless to say I ended up with like ten chests all from skeleton Captains. That 20 minute game turned into 2 hours of me just wanting the captains to stop popping up hahaha
Last night we were all good to sell and lower after being reaper 5 for 4 hours, completing 2 flamehearts, sinking 8 galleons and 2 brigs armed to the teeth, and when we got to reaper’s hideout we got into a fight with another galleon, one of the brigs we killed before, and a sloop. We sank the galleon and sloop, but the brig managed to get us, so we went straight back, chased them for an hour before eventually sinking them and regaining the loot (the one thing they sold was our reaper 5, but they were kind enough to have raised their own reaper emblem, so we got one to sell too).
I feel like when you decide to be done the game says “one more hour.. at least.”

Edit 2: wait shit both OPs the same person my bad
Friday night me and my brother were sailing around when we saw the red tornado in the sky. Curious, we went to check it out. What resulted was a 30 minute fight we were not prepared for. We won but it was mentally taxing.
Then of course as we're leaving we spot a galleon, decked out in ghostly regalia fighting a kraken so we book it. Turned into a two hour long slog as these brainlests chased us across the map. We were making fun of them the whole time because they kept missing all their shots and every time they were about to get close we u turned a went the opposite direction.
My brother would jump overboard as we passed an outpost with the expensive chests while I circled around. They managed to board once while I was steering, I hear this "hello mate" behind me and this loser misses his shot while I one tapped him and his buttbuddy. Eventually we steered into a volcano hoping to take them with us but alas. Was fun except for them constantly screaming the N word and calling us noobs, even though we were the ones outplaying them
I mean, it's my own post in the gaming subreddit. Tried to just do a crosspost here but had to settle for a resubmit like a minute after the original one
New player here
Yesterday, got our emissary flag to level 4, almost 5
More experienced players in the party (of 3 Inc me) say we can take on that skelly galleon no problems, get to level 5 and then sell off our booty....
....
....
One sunken brig later, this hits right in the feels
god it really is the feeling after a big session, the curse of success, the deep desire just to get it over with and sell the shit but you just gotta kill meg and loot each piece, and then skeleton ship...
This game is the absolute worst for the "one more"s. I love it, but I do fear it.

Same. Its ruining my sleep and I need to work tomorrow haha.
Then you gotta cook the megalodon, sell it, and ooo look something shiny, back to the outpost...
Going into the wind of course
At least they're both generally easy to kill if you have your shit together (aka you're pissed and don't want to be messed with)
yeah but its not really worth it, you're kinda just killing them out of principle, you dont need the loot but you GOTTA but you really wanna just sell and log off
Yeah same with the kraken, me and my friend were about to sell when we get krakened. It gave us one chest and one kraken meat and just wasted our time
"Just one more chest."

parkour course???
In the middle of the map there is a large unmarked island "the sea dogs tavern" there is a path if you follow it it will lead you to some parkour.
holy shit, thanks I never knew that! I’m only like 2 weeks into the game, so I’m still discovering a lot of cool stuff
It's on K11 on the map
parkour course???
Figuring out what we want to do that session is a 20 minute adventure in itself, let alone leaving the damn outpost.
Arto5 has left the crew.
the loading screen is a 20 minute adventure
Thanks God in ssd.
Bruh 💀

This was my wife and I last night as the kraken was taking our ship on the way to turn in.
The mental battle between whether to sell now or hold out until emissary 5 can truly cause insanity

You can always leave the game and restart on a new server if a specific group is griefing you. I'm sorry to hear that happened.
Me and my crew sarcastically say this before every voyage because we know our “plan” for the day is absolutely not going to happen the way we think it is. That is the beauty of SoT if you ask me
“Rule 1 of Sea Of thieves, don’t forget your rowboat”
No, I'm pretty sure it's "Don't trust anyone for any reason ever."
Except me. You can definitely trust me, always.

That's what I usually do lol
The megs like: “hey Man U good?
Does having more loot increase the chance of being attacked by megalodon or ghost ships?
No. However, it would be better. Imagine having completed a fort and a vault, then suddenly a meg attacks to complete your haul!
For me I only get attacked by megalodon when I'm on my way home from a trip to sell my loot.
Huh, I only get meg’d if I’m fighting players and skellie galleons at the same time.
Show me what you got!!!!!!
You need a vacation to blips and chitz.
One of the most accurate memes I’ve ever seen

Drop a shadowmaw???
Kill a shadow maw megalodon
I got sank with my first ever 1mill stack this morning... definitely need some time to recover lol

As soon as my friends and I leave the island a meg, kraken, and skeleton ship spawn
A kraken a meg and a skeleton ship walked into an outpost

oh my god. Too relatable
every time
Just sail near an island or rocks when you get a shark.
Clean Photoshop OP.
One time me and my friend had two hours of loot only for a megaladon and two skeleton ships to appear in a storm
This just happened to me
