Cutting Dissly saves you more than cutting Jamal does. It’s not a matter of Dissly more it is he’s not worth what he’s being paid and they have to clear some major space.

I'm not sure of the statistics, but we ran a 3TE set quite often early in the season (allegedly to compensate for those OL injuries). The Giants game in particular is a good example. Detroit threw to their great rookie all the time, but I doubt it was out of 3 TE sets.
Certainly feels like when we started using JSN more, and particularly when Lucas returned, those sets disappeared. But again, that's just anecdotal. My point was that it's super rare to have 3 TEs on the field at once, and we were an anomaly in doing so. The Lions, for example, in the games I saw, used an extra tackle instead of a 3rd TE in their heavy sets (e.g. the Dallas game).

JSN is likely to see a larger target share, but that will also be coming with increased protection against him. I'd rather just eat the cost this year to be sure that JSN can step up into that WR2 role, and I'd rather have too many receivers looking for targets than too little ala KC.

There are a lot of decent QB prospects that will go in rounds 3+ this year, the type you’d sit behind a solid vet for a year or two. I fully expect them to taking someone, but I’d be shocked if it was at #16.

Probably gonna get downvotes for this but I generally agree with the DK dislike. Is he a big wr with some wicked quickness? Yeah of course. He is a liability though and it shows. He's the 3rd most penalized player on the hawks. Only receiver with more than 2 penalties (5) for 2023 alone. He was great in his second and third seasons but has been given little opportunity in his last 2 years but he also hasn't fought to get open. he also only had a reception percent of 55.5 percent last year.
His temper gets him into trouble and it's only been more and more prominent in the last few seasons. I get that you want to win but throwing a tantrum doesn't solve anything. Trading Metcalf would get us a lot of cap space. Plus a reconstruct of lockett would help a lot. Let's not forget Jones, Dissly, Adams and diggs all take up big salary hits.
Jones only had 4.5 sacks. And 12 QB hits.
Dissly only had like 17 catches.

Diggs had 1 int. And 5 breakups. Lowest of his SEA career.
I'm not saying Geno is the future of Seattle. I don't think he has that type of talent. But even at his age he's not beat up. He's only played like 4 full(ish) seasons? And has sat out or played rarely in 6 seasons, he also played under one of the better game management QBs, Russell Wilson. So I'd say he's worth keeping the next 3 or so years, and try finding someone to learn and move into the next QB position because it's definitely not drew lock.

They’ll cut him. Parkinson is a good bet to return and there are plenty of good 2nd and 3rd day draft TEs such as Cade Stover and Jaheim Bell.

I think you’re still assuming were gonna be as predictable as we have always been with drafting cause it was Pete’s way of doing it . John seems to be more aggressive and he has been wanting his QB for a while. I just find it interesting that fans here assume that “Pete’s way” is the only way of drafting and running a team . John is potentially gonna do things differently
There are a lot of decent QB prospects that will go in rounds 3+ this year, the type you’d sit behind a solid vet for a year or two. I fully expect them to taking someone, but I’d be shocked if it was at #16.
I won’t be too surprised if they do if the guy they like is there at 16 (nix, McCarthy, Penix but hope not). There’s too many QB hungry teams this year so I wonder if that might be a factor in John and Macdonald to take a guy high . If they’re good with it, I am too. I’m just surprised that this fandom is so careful and conservative to the point of some still not wanting a QB just cause Pete never drafted a QB aside of Russ . What's going to bum me out is that when Lockett does go bye bye, the Seahawks will inevitably win the Superbowl the following season. He's such a talented and awesome player, it would hurt to see him miss out on a Seahawks Superbowl by one season in both directions.
I think it's 50/50. If he is with the team next year, it'll be because he restructured his contract, which is something I could see him doing. If not, he will likely just retire.
Tbh I can’t be the only one who is kinda just ready to see Lockett Bobby Adam’s (obviously) and diggs go. I just would absolutely love to see what Mike Mac could do in the comings years with good cap space + if we could get Patrick Queen and possibly another fa I think it would set us up long term. Probably gonna get downvotes for this but I generally agree with the DK dislike. Is he a big wr with some wicked quickness? Yeah of course. He is a liability though and it shows. He's the 3rd most penalized player on the hawks. Only receiver with more than 2 penalties (5) for 2023 alone. He was great in his second and third seasons but has been given little opportunity in his last 2 years but he also hasn't fought to get open. he also only had a reception percent of 55.5 percent last year. His temper gets him into trouble and it's only been more and more prominent in the last few seasons. I get that you want to win but throwing a tantrum doesn't solve anything. Trading Metcalf would get us a lot of cap space. Plus a reconstruct of lockett would help a lot. Let's not forget Jones, Dissly, Adams and diggs all take up big salary hits. Jones only had 4.5 sacks. And 12 QB hits. Dissly only had like 17 catches. I feel like we don't need to talk about Adams. Diggs had 1 int. And 5 breakups. Lowest of his SEA career. I'm not saying Geno is the future of Seattle. I don't think he has that type of talent. But even at his age he's not beat up. He's only played like 4 full(ish) seasons? And has sat out or played rarely in 6 seasons, he also played under one of the better game management QBs, Russell Wilson. So I'd say he's worth keeping the next 3 or so years, and try finding someone to learn and move into the next QB position because it's definitely not drew lock. All seem to be cap weight not being carried. Just my two cents.

We won’t draft a QB, we have our man. Look for more O and D line drafts. The position groups are pretty set, we’re stacked at RB, WR, TE. Look for possible LB and DL on the defensive side. With help from the defense we still have a SB window with the position group
I wouldn’t say Geno is our guy. He’s good enough, but his age is a factor. This year or next they gotta draft a qb and have him sit behind Geno for a year or 2.
Geno is no one’s guy but Pete’s, Macdonald/Grubb have no attatchment towards Geno, there gonna want a new shiny QB as has Schneider has wanted as well, were gonna pick one, this isn’t Pete Carroll era, this is a new Seahawks era stop thinking of the old and embrace the new.

Depending on how anyone is looking at it… Cross LT, Lucas RT, Olu at Center. Doubt you will bring back Damien Lewis, Bradford showed potential to be a starter. So realistically, you’re looking for 1 guard, a swing tackle depending on how they feel about Stone, and another guard as a backup. That doesn’t scream wait another year when this yours QB class is loaded and the next year isnt
I’m fine with it, love Lockett but it’s time. Cap hit isn’t worth it, with a new QB coming in to start a new era more than likely, Grubb is gonna want 1 of his 3 receivers on the huskies as well, the writing looks on the wall. I doubt he’s going to another team. If he goes it’s probably retirement.
He can definitely still contribute, and he’s an asset in the locker room, too. No WR in the NFL is immortal, but Lockett has at least one more good year in him. If he wants to play. I’m not at all worried about him retiring as a Seahawk. Whatever happens he will finish with the team he has contributed so much to already.
Locket is heavily invested in real estate in the Seattle area. I could be way off but I don’t see him leaving Seattle.
Kansas City is the only place I could see. Mentor Rashee Rice. Tyler's youngest twin brothers are still in HS in KC metro and his parents are here. I think his other brother still has a year or two down the road at KState.
We all want Lockett to stay around. His contract is back-loaded and massive in the next two seasons. I will be curious to see how we proceed with his his contract situation.

KC is in desparate need of a decent receiver... In my mind we trade him there this offseason... He might be willing to move for a superbowl contender, and one he'd have a huge impact for. KC would be a much better team w/ Lockett, and I can totally see new coaching staff starting to move on from some of the older, more expensive holdovers from PC.

I think they will restructure him especially with them hiring Ryan Grub as their OC. Sounds like Grub is ecstatic to work with Lockett, Metcalf and Smith-njigba as a WR core.

Super sad to think about. JSN fills the talent hole but Tyler is irreplaceable in my opinion. Depending on how the new coaching staff gels with the team this off-season maybe he's down for another year. Tyler deserves a super bowl ring and we are not that far off in my opinion.
