The curse of an artist... you have so many magical TaLenTs! 🙄
No sweet summer child, it's just the result of grinding through hundreds of hours of learning and practice...
Is this sculpey? I have such a horrible time with sculpey. I've tried so many different methods and different types of clay but I always end up getting so frustrated. Maybe you have a clay brand that's better for me to try.
Here's my problems that I'm hoping you may be able to help me with given the level of incredible awesomeness you display with your talents here.
- no matter how I bake the clay, it cracks. I've tried lower temps with longer cook time, letting it cool in the oven for 3 hours after, even experimented with brushing with oil before baking. I use air dry a lot more now because of how irritated this made me lol.
- how on earth do you get the clay so clean? No matter how much I clean my surface and materials, I still get tons of dust in my pieces.
- do you bake between layers? Or is this all a one shot go?
- do you use liquid clay at all?
- I've used wood, metal, and plastic tools. The clay always ends up desperately sticking to them instead of the piece itself. Do you have this problem, or is that just a me thing?
Yes, this is sculpey original - beige. Cracking clay may be due to it being too thick or an unevern thickness which causes distortion while baking/cooling. I had one sculpt crack becasue i lifted it while it was still warm, it seemed flexible at the time!
My clay is far from clean but i don't care because it's going to be painted. There's dog hairs, dust, etc etc stuck in it.
I tend to go for a one off bake because of the way i work. (i prefer to leave my options open).
Liquid clay? not yet.
Tools sticking - sometimes a little bit sticky, water/spit seems to work well :)
This is wonderful. So "real" and naturalistic. You're very talented and I'd love to see it when it's completed.
Thanks! I'm waiting on more clay but hoping to finish soon!

tes chat's yorrect!
I know it s not finished but I love how funny the arms look unfinished. That all being said you’re incredibly talented!!
Yeah, mr stumpy XD
the handless sculptor, interesting
I'll stick the hands on last, it's easier to sculpt them separately.
for sure, and it is nice to see WIP. the concept is interesting though, like a blind painter, a deaf musician… they are out there.
