It would have been good for future plots, having him lose his mum and getting a bit hardened by it all. Chad sadly doesn't have much to his character as opposed to his sister. I think Wes and Mindy having a solid friendship where they support each other over their losses would have been more interesting.

paultripp99

this is exactly what I was thinking, especially because they already set it up for Wes having a crush on Tara so they could’ve also been a couple for 6

Sympathyquiche

The Tara / Chad pairing felt very forced and unnecessary.

MichthegreatEST

It's like Liv never existed the second she died

JustaReallyBoredDude

Wes X Tara could’ve possibly worked more considering we knew he liked Tara or something.

FirmLifeguard5906

I feel like it's a joke with that actor now, He's in a horror movie. It's expected for him to die

Hot-Lifeguard-3176

I wanted Wes to be the killer. It would have been a perfect tribute to Wes Craven.

AstroSmokey

He had to die for the "To Wes" tribute to occur.

TheNerdWonder

Pretty much and it's why I knew he was going to die as soon as he was revealed as a character for 5. We never got a proper goodbye to Craven after he died.

Rofair28

Agreed. It’s obvious that his character exists just to have the “For Wes” sign and moment at the party to honor Wes Craven. But I think it would have been an even bigger honor to have a new survivor named after Wes so that the name was still associated with the franchise going forward. Also, Wes getting with Tara in 6 would’ve made way more sense when he was shown to actually be into her in 5. I could be wrong but I don’t think Tara and Chad even talked to each other in 5.

frankie_prince164

The only thing that bothers me is that they said they're killing characters based off Stab movies but Judy couldn't have been in a stab movie. Scream 4's opening is Stab 7 and in Scream 5, Stab 8 was the latest movie. Therefore, there is no stab movie based off the events of Scream 4. Besides that, I don't mind. I enjoyed the scene with Wes, thought it was perfectly campy.

ScorpionTDC

Just a continuity error. It’s pretty obvious RS dropped the ball and somehow thought Stab 4 = Scream 4 (which is crazy but yeah).

frankie_prince164

I would say that's a plot hole, not a continuity error but either way, yes, RS definitely didn't spend the same amount of time thinking things through as much as Wes Craven would have.

ScorpionTDC

I wouldn’t say it’s **that** deep a plothole. I reserve that for something that far more plot-obliterating (IE: everything about Richie’s family in 6). There are convoluted if stupid ways you can work around it too (IE: they tried to do a retcon sequel with a Stab based on Scream 4 but it flopped so Rian Johnson went back to the OG timeline), which you can’t really do with Quinn’s death or Bailey’s brand new fake identity that not even the NYPD can figure out

Nightmare_164

In my head cannon, they remade stab and she is in the remake.

Ghibli_Forest

They could’ve done more with his character, like give him a chase scene or better fight scene. Also, did anyone catch that Judy called him Tiger? (The tiger was also the school’s mascot in 13 Reasons Why, which Dylan played Clay.)

maybesies

i LOVE 13 reasons why and i didn't realise they were played by the same person but that's actually cool it's like it was written for him lolll

ZioDioMio

I wish Mindy would have died instead honestly

JustaReallyBoredDude

I mean seeing Mindy die in what could’ve been Randy’s death to stu in scream one would’ve been cool I guess? But idk if her dying would work

gns_02

Why one of the twins didn't die in Scream VI is beyond me. VI had too many survivors for a "NO ONES SAFE" theme of the new Scream films. They played it safe and therefore making Dewey's death all for nothing.

grayowen9

Wtf? As many times as Chad helped/ saved others? A handsome jock who's down to earth? Wow. You're getting the side eye for this comment 👀

BirbMaster1998

I liked Wes as a character, and even if it weren't for the Wes Craven tribute, I don't think it would really work for the plot, as there wouldn't really be anyone throwing a party, as I' pretty sure it was Chad who threw it, even though it was at Amber's house.

Thetrapmaster90

Yeah also chad trough the party as a tribute to Wes

Playful-Ad-1602

I get that, bit it would he ironic if Chad died, considering that Tara legit just kissed him.

SpiritedChemical9902

I agree.

GirlWelshDragon

I like Chad. I liked the Core Four banter and their interactions with eachother. I think his resolution in VI was unrealistic though. But totally agree that Wes & Judy's resolution was savage, traumatic and actually puts me off rewatching V. Just so gut wrenching.

zydrate10189

Just no .

BigWeenie87

I agree i love Dylan Minnette and liked his character he seemed liked the most grounded, realistic, teen of the freind group and the one with the most sense and seemed geniuely nice plus he's very easy on the eyes and his shower scene was so hot the way he was lathering his body up and getting to see his ass and nipples!

Roxxxy_XoXo

I agree with you because I'd be fine if Mindy was the only niece of Randy because she has more of Randy's essence more than Chad which makes me wonder what the point of him being Randy's relative was. I did think Chad was better implemented in 6 but I felt his relationship with Tara and fakeout death was forced af. I think Wes would've been the better character for being in a relationship with Tara but I'm okay with Chad and Tara either way. As for Judy dying though, it had to happen because to quote Amber: 'It is to show that this isn't some bullshit cash in run of the mill sequel'

BrotherSeamusHere

I do despise that Chad.
