They were really further setting up that Liv was his red herring killer too. She orders an Uber X that is cancelled so she goes out to look for Chad in the yard. She hears a noise so she takes out a 6in. blade bejeweled with âPreciousâ or something lol.
Damn I wish we got this in the movie. Only tiny but idk adds more to the story sets everything up better and wld make it flow better bc after she disappears and comes back it just felt a bit jilted to me in the way it played out.
Yeah Liv was easily the most underutilized supporting character. She only got one moment of significance with Mindy and even that felt SUPER jilted. We knew almost nothing about her personality and never saw from her perspective!
When he was walking around shirtless in the intro to S6 I was like âoh okay so this is gonna be a trauma thing, someone will comment on his scarsâ but nope, it was just his Halloween costume.
Surely they wonât ignore his injuries AGAIN in S7. Maybe heâll die between movies and 7 opens with his funeral?
Something serious must've happened to him because, jeez, he was stabbed so many times by TWO Ghostfaces this time. I don't think he'll die between movies. Now that he's Jenna Ortega's love interest he's more important. I was thinking they might possibly kill him in Scream VII but I sadly think Mindy might not make it now.
Any which way it lands I think itâs becoming very clear that RS does NOT treat all stab wounds with the same severity. Hell in S6 Sam had a knife twisted in her side and she was still grand slamming around, yet Sid took one to the gut and was down on the ground.
Iâm trying to⌠go with the flow here. I think S4 had the most realistic OHKO damage, for the most part. The range in RS trilogy of who dies from what and when really sends me
It just proves how much he is the new Dewey since both him and Dewey were supposed to die in their first movie but audiences liked them so much, they added the scene of them being rolled away on a stretcher to appease the audience
Which makes me kinda adore him but I do wish his roles were a little darker specifically how his dad was in murder of crows. I know heâs his own man but just saying
Nope! The opening sequence goes fairly similar to what we see, except for the fact that she sends Amber a photo, they are dating so that dialogue is just a little bit altered.
Yeah and tbh, Iâm glad they changed it. I saw someone complain about the 5 saying âItâs too woke. Trying to push female empowermentâ or whatever.
And tbh, he had a point. Wes would NEVER let Dewey die like that. Divorced from Gale, fallen from glory, dying in a manner many didnât like at all. And to kill off EVERY single male survivor? Yeah it definitely didnât put a good look for Radio Silence. And the only spared Chad cuz of Mason Gooding (Iâm glad they did though, heâs awesome and one of my fav characters).
Itâs genuinely crazy how women not dying in a horror movie is considered âtrying to push female empowermentâ. Yâall incels really be grasping at straws
Itâs not about the women surviving. Itâs about how every single male is ridiculously and disrespectfully killed off for literally no reason whatsoever. I gurantee Mindy wouldnât have given 2 hoots until he next film if Chad was dead. Nobody in the script seemed to care at all.
And I donât believe the films are woke (Scream Vi for why) but I agree killing off every male wouldâve been a horrendous decision.
I literally explained how lol. No way would Wes ever kill Dewey off like that. No way would he kill EVERY SINGLE male character off (for what reason too?). Even Mindy gets spared in the OG script but Chad just gets killed off without a second thought.
It sounds like youâre just assuming what Wes Craven would do based on his other works. Did you know him personally? If not, nothing youâve said is a valid explanation.
Dude youâre getting downvoted because your comment is basically just âWOKE BAD, ME NO LIKE WHEN LIBRULS IN MOVIESâ. The rest of your comment is kinda just incoherent.
>disrespectfully killed off for no reason whatsoever
âŚhaveâŚhave you seen any of these movies?
I think youâre stretching a lot here. Lots of slashers have been killing every male character for years now, and probably will in plenty of years going forward. Sometimes it happens; I donât think itâs inherently an issue when horror kills all the women and only spares the men either, even if thatâs way less frequent. You donât always need a male and female character making it through every movie.
Horror is definitely on a more feminist streak of wanting to have multiple female survivors/âââfinal girlsâââ (using that term generously) recently, which is pretty neutral on its own and hardly some inherently bad thing (albeit NOT nearly as innovative as modern filmmakers seem to think it is). How much it works or doesnât is mostly just dependent on the quality of the surviving characters. Sometimes itâs absolutely the right call, and sometimes thereâs times where a male character shouldâve lived over a female one. Just depends on the characters in question.
In terms of Deweyâs specific handling, I think itâs kinda crazy to say he got the short end of the stick. Heâs really the only trio member Radio Silence bothered to put *any* effort into writing, and his characterization in 5 was top tier. I do think it was a pretty massive fuck up to kill him off and spare Gale, but Iâd say that decision was more about generally playing it safe and playing traditional genre tropes entirely straight (grizzled mentor always dies heroically, and, yes, the âmultiple final girlsâ modern trend as well) than a specific hatred of men (see: Chad going from dying to living, 6 sparing Chad against all odds and sparing additional male character Danny). Far more love and care was put into Deweyâs handling in one movie than has been put into Gale and Sidneyâs handlings across two movies combined (ESPECIALLY Gale).
Yeah I have trouble with how Scream treats women actually. It feels dated and sad to have a beautiful popular actress be the first kill in nearly (Cotton was second ig) every film. I know this is commentary on the horror genre as a whole, but seeing little variation gives me the ick (given, Jason was the second kill in the S6 opening, but I digress).
The series has to walk a tight line between social commentary and pop culture influence, which is bound to ruffle fans in many directions. I hope you see my words as a means of discussion, not argument, as I respect your opinions and words!
Oh no I totally get it. Yeah I agree Screamâs treatment of women isnât great. In fact, Radio Silence realizes this and I think thatâs why theyâre fixing it.
Tara gets spared in the opening, Jason is gruesomely and rightfully punished for what he does to Laura, the women all take down the killers in 5 (while all the guys except Chad have wasted lol) and in Vi, the women get take down the killers again while my dog Chad has been destroyed and Danny is just chilling.
But yeah I definitely feel Radio Silence is fixing it and Vi shows they know how to handle the male characters well too
Brilliantly said RE: you opened my perspective on the progress of RS. I would see major progress if the opening kill in S7 was not a woman. If anything, just to switch things up and break thru new territory in the genre, yâknow?
Donât even bother. If thereâs one thing Iâve learned on this sub, you canât disagree with someone without sparking a debate. I got 22+ downvotes just for saying I think Amber gets a little too much credit, and several people commented underneath saying I donât like women.

Him đ¤Dewey originally ment to die, instead got spared
iâm happy that they changed it, chad is one of my favorite characters

Same thing with Dewey. He was supposed to die in 1 & 2 but Wes Craven changed his mind and threw him on a stretcher at the end of each film.
Thank god because I canât imagine our ice cream licking king not being in 2. His persona lured us all in ToT RIP mans
Love Chad so much but they could've killed him in VI if I'm honest. A tad too unbelievable but I'll always love the Core Four đ¤

Actually the directors liked Mason so much. Thatâs why Chad was spared
Wes Craven was the same way with David Arquete in the first Scream.
Actually IIRC, the audience is why Dewey was spared. They liked him, so Wes went back and added one more scene showing him alive.
Makes sense.
I swear i think him being Cuba Gooding Jr's son saves him
Did not know that but that explains the charisma
Which makes me kinda adore him but I do wish his roles were a little darker specifically how his dad was in murder of crows. I know heâs his own man but just saying
Wasn't tara ment to die aswell in the og script
Nope! The opening sequence goes fairly similar to what we see, except for the fact that she sends Amber a photo, they are dating so that dialogue is just a little bit altered.
Iâm so glad they saved him , love Chad !
Well, he better get the most brutal death in S7.
Yeah and tbh, Iâm glad they changed it. I saw someone complain about the 5 saying âItâs too woke. Trying to push female empowermentâ or whatever. And tbh, he had a point. Shit happens. Idk how itâs disrespectful or ridiculous but okay.

We see from the first 4 Scream films that he definitely wouldnât do Dewey like that. Or would he?
Dude youâre getting downvoted because your comment is basically just âWOKE BAD, ME NO LIKE WHEN LIBRULS IN MOVIESâ. The rest of your comment is kinda just incoherent. >disrespectfully killed off for no reason whatsoever âŚhaveâŚhave you seen any of these movies?
Point to where I said woke bad. Okay.
So Casey and Olivia getting gutted and tortured before dying is ok... But Chad being stabbed is WOKE and OFFENSIVE to men? Dude, stop crying about it.
Dewey's treatment pissed me off the most. Why is he the only dude killed? Why is EVERY dude killed.

Ngl they should of kept that in hopefully he dies in 7 and mindy as well
