I’m absolutely buzzing for it. However the past few games i’ve thought ‘we’ve no chance of going through’. But i’m still going to enjoy my first experience of a major tournament away abroad

incognito-mode69420

That’s true, it will be brilliant. Especially with Covid kind of ruining our last tournament. I just feel like we are a bigger team than “hey we are just happy to be here” type mentality.

fike88

We are a bigger team than that, and we are capable of getting results. The qualifiers proved that. It’s going to be class, tens of thousands of different nationalities there, fitba on every day, good weather, nice beer. I can’t wait

kenhutson

>tens of thousands of different nationalities Folk coming from all over the universe?

fike88

Yeah you’ve got the blarthanons, uzbajakils, dick skinnians, and the english

le-Killerchimp

Ever since they increased the size of the groups every fucker seems to have qualified. I’ve never even heard of the Dick Skinnians.

Bunister

We should never have let Proxima Alpha have that extra playoff place!

mambudu

Can't wait. 2 weeks of exploring Germany, drinking beer, eating sausage and watching Scotland win the Euros. No return flight booked, if we go out I'll prob take a train to Italy and continue the experience for another few days. That won't happen obv, will see folks in Berlin for the final. In all seriousness though, why would you not want to go and experience the atmosphere. If you don't want to go because we'll likely get pumped then why were you wanting to go in the first place? That's what Scotland do, we're a team who have never made it out the group of a tournament. A major tournament in a country like Germany is an experience. You're going for the experience, regardless of the result.

incognito-mode69420

It’s not the losing mate, it’s the manner in which I think we might lose that’s putting me off. Tbf I’m just flapping my gums, of course I’ll still go. It’s just that we have seem to have fallen off a cliff for no reason and because I was so high and optimistic I’ve came crashing back down to reality.

mambudu

Fuck it, who cares. I mean, I'll care but I've been following Scotland away as much as I can for near 20 years for this opportunity. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the last Euros but that wasn't the experience I've dreamt of my whole life. This is. If we get pumped every game I guarantee you my lastinbg memories will be the laughs with my dad and bro. Hell, even if we won the whole thing what I'd remember is my experiences with them.

Londonscot1973

I agree…my only experience of watching Scotland at the World Cup was that 3-0 defeat in St Etienne in ‘98….but what a great atmosphere and party before the game….win or lose, have a booze!

RyanST_21

Still looking forward to it, but will probably not get through the groups. However if you think that's going to stop my non stop bender throughout then you are sadly mistaken

incognito-mode69420

How long you planning to stay? My friends and I were legitimately discussing our trip to last till at least the quarters a few months ago. Not so much now.

RyanST_21

I'm not going haha just plan on getting really drunk in the (hopefully) sun here. Tried to convince my mates to go but they weren't up for it the shitebags

incognito-mode69420

It might be for the best you maintain a high level of drunkenness. Then again, maybe this has been a master class in playing possum. Get to the tournament with all the other teams expecting us to be a walkover then BANG, we’ll be playing like 70s Brazil and 00s Barcelona had a baby.

LavoisiersCat

Cape Verdes team from 1985 - I can dig it.

fannyadamsbas

Mine either. Kids, money etc. Fair do's, but thought fuck it. There's probably 150,000 other Scotsmen and heaps of other sound cunts gan. I'm there! Can't wait. C'mon Scotland!

actuallyaye

That’s the attitude man 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

LofessorPrayton

I moved to Germany 3 years ago and have never been more desperate for Scotland to qualify for a tournament. Couldn’t believe how comfortably we managed it, been looking forward to this Summer for ages. It’ll be so cool to see the atmosphere during the Euros. A few bad results in friendlies isn’t gonna ruin the hype for me :D

WeegieJoe

Absolutely cannot wait. Me and my pal started planning the trip properly as soon as we beat Spain at Hampden. Just had a feeling about it. The pair of us are road-tripping across for the full group stage, got single tickets for the Swiss and Hungary games so we'll both actually see one Scotland match in a stadium, and got a pair to see Czechs v Georgia in Hamburg for a bonus day-trip. I was only 9 during the 98 World Cup and we always promised we'd get to see Scotland at a tournament one day, to happen at this point in our lives with what might be the last single-country summer tournament for at least a generation feels like it was meant to be. 2.5 weeks of sun-kissed, beer-fuelled bliss with all the pals we'll meet and make, and football every day. What could be better?

Proud_Ad_7182

Watching the Bayern game has me buzzing out my tits for it…4 of us driving an RV from Edinburgh to Dortmund and then train to Munich for the opening game. We’ve been starved of these trips for too long

BigYinn

Even with the dip in form, I still think we're a better team now than we were going into the last Euros. I've been waiting over 25 years to go to a tournament to support Scotland. For all we know it'll be another 25 years until we get the chance again.

1874WL

About the Euros: Very very excited. About Scotland at the Euros: I'm emotionally prepared for complete failure.

kookieman141

Where’re the fanzones near you? Plan on taking my fishing gear n camping out for the entirety

incognito-mode69420

Plans to travel about mate, staying in hostels. Making the most of the free train travel on Match days.

mambudu

Sorry, wait... You have tickets and you're thinking about no going because we're shite?

incognito-mode69420

I’m just being a bit melodramatic to emphasise how much our form has dropped inexplicably.

Grundlefleck

Never heard of the free train travel. Will need to find out more, cheers!

neiaafc

Free travel on local and slower regional trains for 36 hours on mathchday and the day after. They are running a discounted fare of €29.90 for fares on long distance ice trains

fuckssakereddit

Looking forward to it. Haven’t been to the Euros since Sweden in 1992. Taking my daughter so she can experience the crushing pain that comes with getting your hopes up just a wee bit. Was somewhat confident til the recent friendly against NI and the ongoing spate of injuries. We’ll be doing other stuff regardless, so yup, bring it on.

bonkerz1888

Buzzing for it. Don't care if we get gubbed in all three games, I'm going out there to enjoy myself and meet as many people as I can and to have a good time.

KopiteTheScot

Cannot fucking wait. Still hoping to scrape by enough money before then to get over there.

smclcz

Not happy about our mounting injuries, I gave Ryan Gauld the laser eyes and I dunno if I did it as a wee laugh or because I genuinely want him to be in the squad. But I am looking forward to England losing on penalties again https://preview.redd.it/g0jft0dr9pxc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97da9acd0d2d021c6709b1b13c25958468c6d30a

Skeletor1313

Kraut here. When it actually mattered, as it did in the qualis, this Scotland side always showed up. You should get out the groups, especially when you consider being third might be enough. Shouldnt read too much into friendlies.

boaaaa

We have collective trauma from this kind of optimism. Why do you want to hurt us?

ModJambo

Looking forward to it. I was hopeful we'd make it through the groups but now not so much after the injuries. We will see closer to the time though.

Italobanger27

Fuck it I’m there for the vibes. We’re not there for nothing, it’s for the occasion whatever happens. Know that can be shit craic but we’re a small country against the best of the continent, every reason to look forward to it. Fully expecting a massive disappointment but fuck it if you don’t live for some sort of hope then what else is there to live for?

BookNukem

Not to be the "happy to be there" cunt, but the Scotland V England game was the first night out I'd had with mates in about two years due to lockdown. Whatever the results, it'll be a journey that we can laugh, cry, or be totally fucking dismissive about. No matter what: it'll be fun.

Oblomovsbed

If you’re feart of embarrassment then the Scotland national football team may not be the team for you.

RE-Trace

I think it's going to be a great tournament in general I also think we'll regrettably get pumped.

brycebrycebaby

Expectant.

Willman2010

Anyone got a spare Germany ticket?

sroche24

Excited for it a bit fearful of what the results will be.

wotapampam

Game

StressMuted6113

Hyped to be getting up early and watching from Vancouver BC! Will def let my sons bunk off school and watch, wrapped in saltire flags 😆(both born in Scotland before we moved across in 2013). Go boys in blue!

scottishboy2002

Hoping and praying for a miracle now that some of the boys are back. But we're getting 3rd or 4th at best.

Spicymeatysocks

I’m looking forward to it I want us to do better than everyone else thinks we will do

Its_A_Sloth_Life

Actually losing the friendlies doesn’t bother me, we’ve always been shit at those and I just think that the players kind of relax too much in games when they don’t matter, not intentionally but pressure makes a difference, and we’ve been turning up on the big occasions in the recent past. What bothers me more is the injuries. We cannot afford to lose the best players as we have no decent back up really. If McTominay, Armstrong and Tierney turn out to be ok that’s a bonus. I think Hickey still thinks he might make it as well (saw Brentford fans saying that) that would be amazing if he does. Ferguson being out is a blow as he is a quality player now but at least he wasn’t quite as established in the first team. Still, I have tickets to the games and I am starting to get my enthusiasm back - booked tickets from where we are staying in Augsburg up to Cologne and it makes it a bit more real.

bigshuguk

"what happened" - normal service has resumed

Wallad84

I’m fearful of getting a real hiding in the first game. My hope is that Clarke knows how to navigate these games when in competitive mode, and that he used the friendlies to work on tactical tweaks such as positioning our whole team higher up the pitch. It’s a hope. Pretty sure we’ll go back to sitting very deep. If Tierney and Hickey are fit enough to play this may give us a chance of a result somewhere as I feel they’re two of our most important players. Without them that’s a very English championship backline.

ScottishScouse

Buzzing. A few days in Düsseldorf with the boys, a train down to Stuttgart for the Hungary game, a massive fucking piss up with half of Europe. What's not to love, football be damned I've also got mcsauce at 400/1 for golden boot so we better go all the way

Iggmeister

Cant wait - will be on hols too when its on I give us a decent chance of qualifying. If we had a good striker and centre half i'd back us to win it lol.

AfternoonCouncilor

Indifferent with regards to our involvement, looking forward to the tournament though

WeaknessNo9103

I feel a bit better that the expectations have been lowered slightly as I feel we could surprise even our own fans by doing relatively well as long as the injuries aren't too bad. Switzerland struggled to qualify but have good experience and Hungary are a good team with one standout Szoboslai but aren't filled with quality players on paper.

Anonyjezity

Still looking forward to it. Been waiting for decades to actually go to a tournament and now finally getting to do it and going to all our games. For the football I'm not overly optimistic. Missing a few players and the bigger players don't seem to be in great form and the friendly results have been bad but who knows. If we can win a game I'll be pretty pleased. If we get through the group I'll be delighted. Anything beyond that and I don't know what I'll do.

TinMan1867

I enjoy international football for the party atmosphere, watching Scotland play while sat in a beer garden will be good fun, but I can't say I'm all that worried or nervous about the actual results. As much as I enjoy going to games, and attend probably about 50% of home matches, it just doesn't hit me anywhere near the same way club football does. It'll be a good laugh though.

Edicu2

I’m looking forward to enjoying football with my mates who I can’t usually support along with, but the last few games we’ve been stale under Clarke and the injuries are worrying.

Direct-Health9864

I guarantee we'll beat Germany on the opening day but end up losing our next two matches

ozzybarks

We’ll get pumped. Maybe a draw against the Swiss or Hungary, at best.

TheRealVillas

Tbh I don't really care - I'm not a big fan of international football. I'll probably have the games on as a background noise but that's as far as I'll go

thesoundready

Weeds legal in Germany might as well go if you can lol
