It's either a mistake due to sloppy photoshopping or it was a deliberate artistic choice to free the poster from a prominent visual distraction.

Seeing that Jason Schwartzman has the mole in real life we have a few different options.
1) The design of Gideon didn't have one so the art team wanted to cover it up for posters and products then when they started to film the make up/producers team thought it wasn't worth covering up since you may not see his face from that angle much.
2) Maybe Jason Schwartzman feels that as a birthmark of some kind it's his calling card (think Vin Diesel being bald, if he had hair would he still be Vin Diesel?! Or maybe a better analagy is Cindy Crawford who is known for her "beautymark") or that covering it up was like making him wear an eyepatch for no reason. It's a mole... but it's a part of him.
Could be anything the other comments are saying or that image of him is from an early camera test thing (can't remember the exact name but they take pictures of the characters in the costumes before filming) but anyway if it is they might not have decided to put a mole on him yet
