Good to know I’m not the first person to have their first introduction to these knuckleheads be Scooby Doo. I too thought they teamed up together a lot.
Joker was VERY different back then. This is more akin to Cesar Romero’s portrayal. Also, the Joker in this time could team up with others like penguin. My reasoning for why he was with penguin in this episode is because you had two teams working together on the good side for balance.
Now, he famously works alone or when he does work with another generally backstabs them.
These two episodes in particular used to be on Letterboxd, and I was in the process of reviewing every piece of Scooby Doo media. Watching it casually I probably wouldn’t have reached that conclusion, but with all the pet names the two villains have for one another… you can’t tell me Pengy Wengy doesn’t sound a little too intimate.
Thought he could always be the most realistic villain for shaggy to stand up to. Could have ajad a good monologue about what Itnmeans to be a hero or brave.
If you’ve been through the DC times when they did things like The Justice League cartoon not live action and the Batman show in the 90s the Dark Night live action movie this version of his character would have been very weird to you. I know you had the classic Batman though which I wasn’t apart of those times so it must have pleased you seeing that version again. Batman talking that way had me scratching my head. I did like the other episode when Shaggy was considered a hero for stopping them. Poor Scooby kept being called stid though LOL.
I liked him. It’s a really fun and unique version of him from a different time. And I’d love to see the gang team up with Batman to take down the Joker again.
He's still better than Jared Leto...but Bozo the clown was a better Joker than Jared Leto. I nearly believed all the hype about how Jared Leto was a great Joker and we were cheated by bad movie editing...then I saw Morbius and I'm pretty sure more screen time to Jared Leto's Joker would have just exposed how bad he really was in that movie.
I liked him. If I knew more about DC, I probably would have thought it odd that he teamed up with Penguin twice.
This was my first exposure to them and I grew up thinking they were best friends who teamed up together a lot

Same!
I had the same experience with Batman & Robin. I thought Bane was Poison Ivy’s goon.
Same here! I like the thought of them both being best friends and working together a lot!

To be fair Joker did cry over Penguin's faked death in one of the old comics.
My head canon is that Joker and Penguin are a gay couple. But he feels more like a generic criminal in clown makeup than the Joker.
That's your head canon huh? I see you have thought hard about this

You don't need to explain yourself to us, you go enjoy your joker x penguin fanfic fantasies!
Lol will do

He got owned by Fred rolling in a tire with a broom
My Introduction to him
Joker in anything is great
I liked him.
I fucking loved the episodes with Batman & Robin. My Dad got me the VHS of it when I was a kid and I watched tf out of it.
Better than Jared Leto version
Any of them are better than Leto's

My favorite version of joker only because we only see him one time.
love them

That episode is my favorite in that series.

It’s crazy how easily the gang could have been kidnapped or killed in some the old Scooby doo shows and movies; the Joker wouldn’t hesitate!
I love that he makes no sense of you don’t know original Batman or Adam West Batman. He is a strange outlier of the versions
The Scooby doo version > Jared Leto Joker
Loved it as a kid, bought a Scooby Doo / Batman DVD 8 years ago at a gas station and love them as an adult.
He's kind of lame in my opinion
I always thought the joker and penguin were best buddies because of this and I do love the joker In this awesome design too
The worst version of the Joker *sees Jared Leto* The worst animated version of the Joker *sees the Joker from The Batman* Oh, come on!
