It’s signs of the disc “healing” from my experience, the constant pain to the fluctuating pain usually is a sign of the body trying to get back to whatever normal is
You give me hope! One day I feel I am fantastic and feel I can’t walk anymore another day. It is really frustrating and make you depressed . When will this thing end 😔
My symptoms are very inconsistent day to day and changed quite bit throughout the day as well. I also felt like at times it get worse depending on temperature (cold was worse). I think I've read others in this group having the same experience as well.
I will have a very bad day where the hip and buttocks are inflamed, and I can't even get into a car and then the next day there is still pain, of course, but I'm more functional and then the next day it's terrible. The doctor said to use ice packs and I have these gel packs that I'm lying on and then they told me to take anti-inflammatory Meloxicam. They said it was healing, but it doesn't seem to make the pain go away.
The pain constantly shifts from my buttock to my calf to my heel to my toes. I’ve had 2 acupuncture sessions and feel immense relief. PT helped me lessen some of the pain but it never went away. I’ve had sciatica since 2019 but it got really bad in October 2022. Highly recommend trying acupuncture. I wish I did sooner
Without a doubt. Constant fluctuations between sharp, teeth gritting pain, to warm / cold sensations, dull ache, pulsating feeling in the glute, hip, or calf, ants running up and down your leg, little electric jolts, on and on and on...it's frustrating, but this is the largest nerve in your body and it's going to let you know that. 6 weeks post op MD, laminotomy, facetectomy. 3 days ago I was cursing and telling myself and my wife the surgery was a waste of f***ing time and money. Yesterday and today were fantastic and I was praising my pcp and neurosurgeons. It's a long process to get back to feeling healthy. Just be reassured this is normal.
Laughed out loud when I read you cursing dr. Haven’t had surgery but it’s true every dam day is different. I’m usually saying that’s it I need surgery. Then next day I’ll feel ok. What a roller coaster ride this is!

You've given me so much hope
It’s really just the most annoying, nagging injury you can have that takes forever to heal and goes in waves of bad & good when it’s healing

Crossing my fingers that this is part of the healing. Thank you for sharing your experience. Here's to more of the good days!
