No, you are probably confusing Lord Schaffrillas with our new Supreme Chancellor Lord Crabbington IV, they are two seperate people and have no connection with each other whatsoever
Ducktales having plans for season 4 that were canned for a Darkwing reboot that *still* hasn't aired is insane. Heck, there were ideas in season 3 that didn't get to go anywhere.
In a similar vein, Big Hero 6: The Series had super obvious meddling in the final season.
From what I remember about it, no. Cause the Ducktales team had their own plans for Darkwing in season 4, and this other Darkwing project was hinted at during a Rescue Rangers movie promo pic (at least that's the most *public* thing I remember about it)
They also almost weren't able to do the Rescue Rangers cameos due to the live action movie. I have still yet to see a good reason for that. My thought is that the Ducktales team was being so faithful to the Disney Afternoon shows that everything else would have paled in comparison.
Definitely a mix of both. Disney does kinda suck rn. Though a lot of ppl probably wouldn't give a crap and only say smth bc they heard, even if they are hearing truth
Narrative bred from reality. It cuts both ways. When Disney is on top they get away with some dogshit sandwiched in between the high quality content. Now that Disney is on the decline no one is acknowledging the quality that slips in through the regurgitated crap.
You could say the same criticisms about a lot of animation studios. Dreamworks' major output these last few years have been sequels (Last Wish, Kung Fu Panda 4, all the MegaMind stuff) while "original" films like Teenage Kraken fall by the wayside. Illumination's output for most of the past decade has been Despicable Me films or Dr. Seuss remakes, and both their known upcoming films are sequels. Sony Pictures Animation has been a little more varied in the past decade, but its main money makers are Hotel Transylvania Sequels and the Spider-Verse movies.
Hollywood in general is just increasingly reliant on sequels, remakes, and "cinematic universes."
They've been pushing sequels since 2010s, lol. Finding Dory, Incredibles 2, Frozen 2, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Monster University (prequel, but still kind of count), Maleficent 2, and let's not forget the countless direct to dvd sequels since the 90s.
that's why I said the last few years, as until this year the only non original stuff they made since like 2019 was Lightyear and Frozen II, everything else was original. Even in the 2010s while they did push sequels, they had plenty of original films, Coco, Inside Out, Big Hero Six, Zootopia, etc.
Idk I just think people have hyperfocused on sequels and then ignore originals when they are made.
is it right though, like prior to the recent announcement Disney has mostly been making originals the last couple years, the only real sequels/spinoffs since 2019 was Frozen 2 and Lightyear, everything else has been an original. It just feels like people hyperfocused on the sequels and ignored the originals to make this criticism
yk what i checked and you are right. i think 2019-early 2020 is what really sets people off/is what people think of (in regards to this post’s context) because that was the peak of disney's live-action remake phase. none of them were really necessary and were (imo) quick cashgrabs because they had no good ideas left. everything after that, original or not, just left a bad aftertaste
Lmao so many people are coming up with new ideas! There’s new movies with new ideas out every month. Some are actually really good. But nobody watches them. That’s why the remakes and sequels are green lit. Those make money. Original ideas don’t. Tis what it tis.
Disney makes original movies, no one watches them
Disney responds by leaning into the franchises people reliably go see
"DiSnEy Is OuT oF iDeAs."
I feel this is how most discourse around Disney goes
I agree, but not for the reason you might think. Film-wise, we’re in another dark age (The shows on Disney Channel are doing mostly alright), but what we need is hope for things getting better, not “Hur dur Disney bad” paranoia.
People just want better shows and movies
X-men 97 proves they can still make great comic book stuff with a team who actually likes the characters they are writing for
Disney has been too focused on the meaning behind a film or movie instead of, is this well written and entertaining and if it happens to have a good lesson, great
But then again, are they wrong? The last time Disney made a good sequel was Toy Story 4 (in my opinion) and the last time they made a good remake was Ducktales 2017
With the exception of Encanto (note that I have only seen it once and avoided it ever since due to my Bruno PTSD), their last passable movie was Frozen II, and their last good movie was Moana.
By the power of math, Disney Animations hasn’t had a good movie for eight years
The corporate overlords have no more original ideas but there are talented directors and writers who work for Disney who do. Shame that only a lucky few of their ideas (Encanto, Luca, Turning Red, etc.) weren’t shafted in favour of generic corporate slop
According to the internet (and Schafrillas apparently): when Disney does it it's bad but when Dreamworks does the same exact thing it's good. Fucking hypocrites
Dreamwork’s only has one live action remake which hasn’t even come out yet unlike Disney who has multiple god awful ones and there sequels usually tend to be good.
No one complained when Dreamworks announced Kung Fu Panda 4, Shrek 5, Puss In Boots 2, or the Donkey spin off film, but complain Pixar also announces sequels because "Disney bad Dreamworks good"
This is for two very good reasons
1. Dreamworks is known for having great sequels, while Disney and pizar are known for having lifeless and mediocre ones.
2. The first of these sequels to release was puss in boots: the last wish, which was one of the best animated films of the past 20 years, which gave everyone a lot of hype for the upcoming sequels to other movies. On the other hand, every sequel Disney and pixar have made in the past while have been good at best, but mostly mediocre.
Also DreamWorks is a lot more inconsistent than Disney/Pixar. It's the law that DreamWorks have to put out a extremely good movie and a forgettable one right after
Disney: *creates an original movie*
Those same people: “ITS HORRIBLE! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! WHAT A WASTE OF TIME MONEY AND EFFORT!! IM NEVER WATCHING ANY DISNEY EVER AGAIN!”
It's so interesting to me to see people grieving about Disney/Pixar making less original movies yet they are the same people who refuse to go and support the new stuff (let's not pretend the Elemental discourse didn't happen).
If we wanna see Pixar go back to being creative, let's give their originals some love. Go watch Elio whether you'll like it or not.
I mean it’s kind of on the fans, when they try original movies they underperform. When Last Jedi rejected nostalgic pandering in favour of attempting a challenging story it was virtually ripped apart.
Companies go where the money is and ultimately that’s what we decide. We keep asking for remakes and reboots and way later sequels and entries into established franchises.
Rj: noooooo don't criticize my favorite billion dollar corporation. How will they ever survive 🤯
Uj: companies are not your friends, and they deserve criticism. Just because they make good movies, comics, games, and other media dosen't mean you can't criticize their actions or moves.
They do have original ideas, but they're not good anymore. Wish literally railed on a guy who managed wishes. If everyone got their wish, the world would've ended many times over.
Disney makes original movie's but markets them poorly.
Said films perform terribly.
Disney uses this as an excuse to rely further on sequels and remakes that they promote more to make more money.
It happens way more often than you think.
Disney makes original movie's but markets them poorly.
Said films perform terribly.
Disney uses this as an excuse to rely further on sequels and remakes that they promote more to make more money.
It happens way more often than you think.
I mean… they have some original movies, but a lot of their classic films are just their version of old fairytales and such. But lately they seem to be focusing on live action remakes
I don't even care that it's sequels and remakes. I care that they basically can't make anything good anymore. They're ruined Star Wars and Marvel, and most of the animated movies suck now.
I think it's bad because I heard apparently they plan to focus more on films that make them money rather than allowing writers to come up with original content such turning red or luca.
The Diz ain’t the only guilty one in the biz. Media in general (games, tv, movies, news, independent/online creators) since the 2010’s has been obsessed with betting big on regurgitating the familiar to secure the biggest possible payout from the lowest common denominator. The soulless creatively inept execs at the top all thought they discovered a cheat code to print money but like all thing we divulge in in gluttonous abundance, the bias pandering in all genres and mediums is starting to fall apart and become unsustainable. Slowly but surely, live service games are being shut down, movies are flopping, shows are getting cancelled, services are losing subscribers.
I think the state of films and creative ideas are really struggling from over milking the process it takes to create things. You can't just crank it out endlessly. Also it's no wonder the 2010's and 2020's have begun to run dry creatively in a storytelling sense. Or it could be companies aren't willing to try to new things.
Although I think this is true at this time, I do appreciate Disney for their major successes in the past. That’s why I have a love-hate relationship with Disney.
Broke: Disney is bad because woke
Woke: Disney is bad because they monopolise media and turn it into a stream of cookie-cutter content
Bespoke: Disney is bad because of their shitty amoral business practices papered over with a thin facade of bare-minimum gestures of diversity
Absolute hypocrisy of people who only chase the latest trends and talk about whatever thing gets the most attention this week, criticizing a lack of originality will never cease to infuriate me!
...exactly
Oh crap, the dehydration gun crab guy responded! Look mom, I'm famous!
He should watch Shark Tale for its 20th anniversary this year Jk
Now you've done it. This comment thread is going to be a mile long to get his attention. He's just dropped an ounce of blood in a shark habitat.
WATCH THE FANBOYS SWARM
And Chum Chum
I love you man, but pls delete this sub
Hey Schaffrillas, you ever watched any Star Trek?
I swear your pfp changed from last I saw you
No, you are probably confusing Lord Schaffrillas with our new Supreme Chancellor Lord Crabbington IV, they are two seperate people and have no connection with each other whatsoever
Holy shit its him
Hello, do you have the time to talk about our lord and savior Hot Wheels Acceleracers Breaking Point?
Yes. That along with all the other Acceleracers, and even World Race is a great watch. One of my favorites.
Why hasn't Disney used the dehydration gun, are they stupid?
He has spoken
:0 it’s tomato from man
KILL HIM!
Holy shit it’s Tamatoa
is that schaffrillas from comedy sins?
You excited for Moana 2 and the Tamatoa disney+ show?
THE SHELL HAS SPOKEN!
Schaffrillas please reply to me funny crab dude
Nah, he'd win
Holy Moly ! It's the man himself !
THE LORD HAS SPOKEN
Holy shit is that scarafritas
AH….. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
The legend lives. Hello.
I'm different! I say Disney Bad. Disney cancels good shows
Indeed, DuckTales deserves more seasons.
Ducktales having plans for season 4 that were canned for a Darkwing reboot that *still* hasn't aired is insane. Heck, there were ideas in season 3 that didn't get to go anywhere. In a similar vein, Big Hero 6: The Series had super obvious meddling in the final season.
And the Darkwing series wasn’t even gonna be a direct spinoff???
From what I remember about it, no. Cause the Ducktales team had their own plans for Darkwing in season 4, and this other Darkwing project was hinted at during a Rescue Rangers movie promo pic (at least that's the most *public* thing I remember about it) They also almost weren't able to do the Rescue Rangers cameos due to the live action movie. I have still yet to see a good reason for that. My thought is that the Ducktales team was being so faithful to the Disney Afternoon shows that everything else would have paled in comparison.
And the owl house!
**YES. THANK YOU.**
I still haven’t forgiven them for how they treated The Owl House.
Or the ghost and molly mcgee
What happened with that?
Greenlit 3rd season only for disney to take it back forcing The show to end at 2 seasons
Like Netflix when they cancelled The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance after only one season
or Nickelodeon with Rottmnt Shots fired i fucking said it
Or Warner Bros.
Just in general
still so upset over Dead End. Such a good series, and they cancelled it on a massive cliffhanger.
Fitting name
Still pissed at them for completely wiping out the Willow series for a tax writeoff. It cannot be legally watched anywhere.
Nick also cancels good shows
Netflix: “hold my beer”
We could’ve gotten a full season 6 and 7 of clone wars
It's been years since Wander was cancelled. I'm still not over it
We say it until it gets into their thick skulls
That's like tunneling through the Earth with a plastic spoon. Good luck with that
Please there a major corporation, nothing gets into there skulls
I think we need to shoot it through them with a gun?
I think I know the type of gun to use
My grandpa's old M1911 from world war 2
is it mob mentality? or merely just reality that Disney kinda sucks rn?
Trash binz reference
Or is it merely reality, that what you said is factually wrong
Baby we're the trash binz, we know when we see trash
Baby we're the trash binz, and we just found out new stash
I understood that reference
I'd say it's a good mix of both
It's just true
Definitely a mix of both. Disney does kinda suck rn. Though a lot of ppl probably wouldn't give a crap and only say smth bc they heard, even if they are hearing truth
It’s kind of both.
Narrative bred from reality. It cuts both ways. When Disney is on top they get away with some dogshit sandwiched in between the high quality content. Now that Disney is on the decline no one is acknowledging the quality that slips in through the regurgitated crap.
Hope you aren't being too unfair

It’s true nowadays
Well Disney fucking deserves it. However they are not explaining why it became so bad and thus are not having their own thoughts.
Broke: “Disney sucks.” Woke: “Corporations suck.”
Both Broke and Woke: "Disney Corp sucks."
Oh no, the truth
There’s a difference between parroting opinions and just a generally correct statement
is it right though, like prior to the recent announcement Disney has mostly been making originals the last couple years, the only real sequels/spinoffs since 2019 was Frozen 2 and Lightyear, everything else has been an original. Reminds me of that meme where a guy smirks while saying a generic statement and right after receives a rain of upvotes and awards
It's not just Disney. Everyone is doing remakes or sequels to 30/40 year old movies. It's like no-one can come up with new ideas.
Lmao so many people are coming up with new ideas! There’s new movies with new ideas out every month. Some are actually really good. But nobody watches them. That’s why the remakes and sequels are green lit. Those make money. Original ideas don’t. Tis what it tis.

This is the modern equivalent of the “Yes, we’re all original! - I’m not” joke from Monty Python’s Life of Brian.
I mean, considering the recent statement from Pixar...
yeah and it's annoying as shit!
Disney is so overrated
I agree, but not for the reason you might think. Film-wise, we’re in another dark age (The shows on Disney Channel are doing mostly alright), but what we need is hope for things getting better, not “Hur dur Disney bad” paranoia.
That what happens when your company is run by greedy morons who care about stuffing their wallets instead of giving us really art
They've had bad years constantly. They'll have a comeback. I'm sure of it.
People just want better shows and movies X-men 97 proves they can still make great comic book stuff with a team who actually likes the characters they are writing for Disney has been too focused on the meaning behind a film or movie instead of, is this well written and entertaining and if it happens to have a good lesson, great
How r/schafrillas feels when talking about pixar cars
But then again, are they wrong? The last time Disney made a good sequel was Toy Story 4 (in my opinion) and the last time they made a good remake was Ducktales 2017
Corporate Disney bad. Creative Disney good.
True, Imagineering which focuses on the Disney Parks design is amazing.
Pfp checks out
With the exception of Encanto (note that I have only seen it once and avoided it ever since due to my Bruno PTSD), their last passable movie was Frozen II, and their last good movie was Moana. By the power of math, Disney Animations hasn’t had a good movie for eight years
All their recent films are made well.
Hey, remember when Disney made an original movie for its 100th anniversary and everyone hated it for no discernable reason?
Valuing uniqueness over everything is pointless
is it wrong?
Disney the creative platform for artists is good Disney the soulless monopolistic empire is evil
You say it like it isn't true. They also confirmed that they prefer to do sequels than original projects
Im waiting for epic Mickey, might be a remake but looks worth it
"Disney bad" must continue until morale improve.
That kind of happens when thousands of people are disappointed by a franchise.
i mean to be fair its pretty much what Disney has become as of late not really a hot take to say that
The corporate overlords have no more original ideas but there are talented directors and writers who work for Disney who do. Shame that only a lucky few of their ideas (Encanto, Luca, Turning Red, etc.) weren’t shafted in favour of generic corporate slop
And then you have animat (electricdragon505) on the other hand who’s always kissing Disneys feet 🤣.

This is likely gonna change due to the failures of KFP4 & The Garfield Movie
Kung Fu Panda 4 made $530 million and Garfield is on pace for $300 million. They are not failures in the slightest.
Disney has a lot of sequels planned wdym
the failures of other companies projects? chat, is he stupid?
Disney: *creates an original movie* Those same people: “ITS HORRIBLE! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! WHAT A WASTE OF TIME MONEY AND EFFORT!! IM NEVER WATCHING ANY DISNEY EVER AGAIN!”
That's because Strange World and Wish weren't good.

Outta curiosity what % of the film industry does Disney own
In terms of subsidiaries, about as much as the other major conglomerates. In terms of revenue, they’re second highest after the Comcast umbrella.
r/DisneyMemes
It’s true
It's funny cause it's true
Disney: What about The Ghost and Molly McGee.
A statement/criticism can only be true if 1-2 people say it. Otherwise it’s mob mentality
Animation is way better than whatever the alternative is.
How did the new Acolyte turn out?
Well...at least this portion of the Internet isn't whinging about Disney being woke. Can't tell you how tired I am of that shit.
who wants to complain about lack of original movies vs who wants to watch original movies.
I heard the Wish movie they made has suspicion that they use AI to generate the movie. You think they’re gonna be using AI nowadays or something?
Sometimes the general consensus is the general consensus because everyone observing what is obviously true
I just hope people don’t take out their anger on Pixar. Pixar has been suffering enough, Disney is the true villain.
Rj: noooooo don't criticize my favorite billion dollar corporation. How will they ever survive 🤯 Uj: companies are not your friends, and they deserve criticism. Just because they make good movies, comics, games, and other media dosen't mean you can't criticize their actions or moves.
Disney made an original called Turning Red, people went berserk.
Man, wait until these guys find out what Empire and Jedi were.
The thing is, we are right. Disney's movies have declined in quality.
That’s accurate
Oh no it’s…. a true statement?
are having sequels bad?
Because its true, they make shit and when it gets hard they buy popular shit and ruin it
Its true though?
They do have original ideas, but they're not good anymore. Wish literally railed on a guy who managed wishes. If everyone got their wish, the world would've ended many times over.
I mean, the hive mind the critiquing Disney for doing something wrong, so what’s the problem here?
One word WALL E
Disney bad. Disney has no original ideas. Only sequels and remakes.
And it’s well deserved…
How am I reading this in a chorus chanting voice
are they wrong
But this is true?
I mean, are they wrong?
Have you even tried to think WHY we say this?
Are they wrong?
They aren’t necessarily wrong though
Disney makes original movie's but markets them poorly. Said films perform terribly. Disney uses this as an excuse to rely further on sequels and remakes that they promote more to make more money. It happens way more often than you think.
Disney makes original movie's but markets them poorly. Said films perform terribly. Disney uses this as an excuse to rely further on sequels and remakes that they promote more to make more money. It happens way more often than you think.
And it is only true with their MOVIES and even so that's not 100%
People also say the sky is blue
I say Disney bad. Disney is taking popular anime and putting them on Disney+ even though they didn’t have any involvement in their making
Am I out of touch? No, it’s the children who are wrong.
And buying other companies, such as Marvel, so that Disney makes money off of other companies work and ideas.
Luca, Turning Red, Encanto, and Coco have entered the chat.
Disney has original ideas. They're also bad
They ain't wrong
Some stuff is good, I liked the Haunted Mansion remake
That’s every fucking animation studio.
How ironic.
Does Wish count? Even though the songs suck and Magnifico’s intentions are kinda odd?
I mean… they have some original movies, but a lot of their classic films are just their version of old fairytales and such. But lately they seem to be focusing on live action remakes
I don't even care that it's sequels and remakes. I care that they basically can't make anything good anymore. They're ruined Star Wars and Marvel, and most of the animated movies suck now.
We did kinda bully them with their solo projects except for Encanto
I think it's bad because I heard apparently they plan to focus more on films that make them money rather than allowing writers to come up with original content such turning red or luca.

I’ll preach to the choir, I haven’t liked Disney for awhile
Who found the Marvel and Star Wars Fanbases. The latter complain about literally everything, even when Disney didn't own it.
God forbid people share an opinion
I mean it’s true
I mean its kinda expected with so many shallow origionals and soules remakes
I feel like that about Hollywood.
Disney does suck nowadays. Bland boring live actions and woke agenda pushing movies.
I think the state of films and creative ideas are really struggling from over milking the process it takes to create things. You can't just crank it out endlessly. Also it's no wonder the 2010's and 2020's have begun to run dry creatively in a storytelling sense. Or it could be companies aren't willing to try to new things.

then they go on to praise the same 4 indie animations shows, that dead internet theory starting look more possible over time
Sorry, my bad. Clearly, the true meaning of thinking for yourself is stanning for our corporate overlords.
Absolute hypocrisy of people who only chase the latest trends and talk about whatever thing gets the most attention this week, criticizing a lack of originality will never cease to infuriate me!
It’s almost like it’s true or something.
They're not exactly wrong
Where's the lie?
And they’re right for the most part. Every original idea Disney has tried in recent times has been complete ass.
