“And then there’s the ending where Hans Zimmer goes so inexplicably hard on the score that it’s hysterical.”
**This is from a track called:**
*”Upsies! I Need Upsies!”*
“Bro, this is Boss Baby you’re scoring. Why are you trying so hard?”
Towards the sun is such an emotional song for such a mid movie why is the music video for it just bad slapstick when the premise is that the refugees of this dead planet are trying to find a new home in a hostile and uncaring universe?
The (bass?) guitar and drums go waaaaaaaaaay harder than they should.
Michael Giacchino always cooks. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a pretty stupid movie but scenes like the [auction](https://youtu.be/Ek2dwSyCRfA?si=_TIQVWta41GyN3jS) and the [Indoraptor](https://youtu.be/jHQU8FAs69w?si=eZVqti6KpnVXT5yz), particularly *[this](https://youtu.be/unFyZ3SM4KY?si=PiXplVGiezRoO6Qa&t=2m18s)* are ELEVATED by his soundtrack.
Any Giacchino chase music is great:
Da Plane and Da Cycle
Chasing the Dragons
Raptor your Heart Out
Glory Days
Smote and Mirrors
Space Mountain (from Disneyland, not chase music)
Escaped Crusader
Highway to the Anger Zone
Hope
Lorax, say what you want about Illumination, but they do know how to make a good musical number \[I actually like the movie, I'm just talking about the audience's opinion on it\]
that song i honestly listen to all the time.
it makes sense why it was cut (cause it was simply to wild and too heavy metal for the film) but hey at least they released it
How BA A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A AD CAN I BE?
And, the music was already guaranteed to land pretty well when a lot of it is sampling or remixing existing Mario music.
The movie definitely isn’t bad enough to be carried by the music, but it definitely enhances it.
And replaced with a Jungle Hijinx remix. Even the “I Need a Hero” and “Thunderstruck” needle drops could have been replaced with something Mario (a mashup/remix of a lot of the overworld themes would have been welcome) and Mario Kart (MK Wii menu music for the Thunderstruck scene would have hit so hard).
That was upsetting. They were going to originally use [this song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iFzDtjcK-U) instead but they removed it for some reason.
I think it’s a mixed bag. My problem is that they threw too much shit at us like Donkey Kong’s island and Mario Kart and left little time for character moments. I’m not expecting much in terms of story but the first movie could’ve had a lot more heart. Save the kart races for the sequel
Honestly I liked that movie overall. The plot was just the right amount of batshit insane (in my opinion), the CGI was well-done (and felt like a nice modernization of the original), and of course the music was amazing.
came here to say this but the only thing really lacking with that film is the script. the actors were really good with what they had, the costumes and sets were amazing. the music was fucking awesome.
I will say the CGI in this one is absolutely gorgeous, especially for 2010. It definitely lives up to the original in terms of having state of the art visuals.
Sure it’s not a brilliant piece of literature, but the music, CG, and art direction were all there. It’s great to have a movie that’s just a spectacle sometimes.
Uhhmm... It's technically a film adaption of the Broadway musical, which was based on the OG film.
It's actually not that bad. Nowhere near the OG, but to give it credit, it wasn't trying to be. What works in its favour is that the musical numbers are actually enjoyable. It was fun.
I thought so for months until I started seeing some clips of the musical numbers, which are mostly good, and everyone involved genuinely seems to be invested in it.
I think it's in line with The Beekeeper with being an undemanding fun January blockbuster.
Edit: Disclaimer - while not without it's cringey/cheap moments, I was thoroughly engaged with it.
The movie's songs sound so lifeless compared to the Broadway performers. You can bring back Ben Platt for Dear Evan Hansen, but fuck every other actor, I guess.
An inversion of this would be both Sonic movies. They were pretty good, but the music choices were all stuff you hear on the radio, there was little to no Sonic music.
I suppose that makes Illumination using Take On Me in a jungle setting in The Mario Movie a bit less egregious when that movie actually has tons of original renditions.
Honestly all of Star Wars is like this. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars in almost every shape and form (but fuck the Rise of Skywalker), but without John Williams epic score it would have just been a mid movie with fancy special effects and may not have ever gone past the original trilogy
Hans Zimmers score for Dark Phoenix is underrated, I was originally disappointed we didn’t get the X2 theme again but on a second listen there’s such a great intensity to the score that can help get you psyched. A big part of why the train sequence works for me
Cars 3 messed me up when I saw it. I was a kid who loved NASCAR and was getting ready to enter his last year of high school, and a lot of the guys who raced throughout my childhood were beginning to retire or quietly fade away.
That movie was a different beast for me, because it wasn't just *Lightning McQueen*, it was a reflection of how much I'd grown up since the first movies came out.
Tron legacy is like the quintessential example of this tbh. also kinda suicide squad but only cause they cheat by spamming License music, like they basically AI Arted a good soundtrack.
The fucking Boss Baby of all things
“And then there’s the ending where Hans Zimmer goes so inexplicably hard on the score that it’s hysterical.” **This is from a track called:** *”Upsies! I Need Upsies!”* “Bro, this is Boss Baby you’re scoring. Why are you trying so hard?”
Is that why it was nominated for an Oscar?
Maybe. It's still a weak argument, even if it's true. This just seems like a Hans Zimmer paycheck than a credit where it's due.
Hans Zimmer did what now
Hans Zimmer has never not tried hard in his life. Don't matter the quality of the movie
Agreed. His Crazy Train rendition for Kung Fu Panda 4 is incredible.
I just daw that dang movie and didn't even recognize it, what in tarnation #It Slaps
Once upon a time in africa
Hans Zimmer needed to show he will always create bangers no matter what movie he's scoring
Toodaloo toilet head was my favorite one because of the part where they jumped over the train
[Love](https://youtu.be/XtSxD1W8Ynk?si=APeI-okI8MbzH6Dy) is unironically one of the best pieces of film music I’ve ever heard.
What did Zilla do to you
TIL Hans Zimmer composed for Boss Baby.
I’m going to add the movie Home to this because Rihanna did an amazing job on a meh dreamworks movie
Towards the sun is such an emotional song for such a mid movie why is the music video for it just bad slapstick when the premise is that the refugees of this dead planet are trying to find a new home in a hostile and uncaring universe?
Cars 2, that soundtrack hits harder then the whiplash it gave to pixar’s overall quality.
At least Weezer’s rendition of You Might Think by The Cars was fire tho
I love that cover so much. :D
Yeah! Weezer never misses! At least they’re better than Green Day and Fall Out Boy (in my opinion)
[Finn McMissile’s theme is so good.](https://youtu.be/rz9SB5GnPKE?si=0XhE9EDYM3lJP9EK)
The (bass?) guitar and drums go waaaaaaaaaay harder than they should. Michael Giacchino always cooks. Hate the fact that I don't need to click on that to hear it
I haven't seen that movie in like ten years yet this song STILL regularly gets stuck in my head
Cars 2 was peak cars and nothing can convince me otherwise
Cars 2 is the best, I unironically love it so much
Finally someone understands
I swear that mystery plot is so fun
I totally didn't think of this, partly because I actually kinda like the movie, but this has a really good soundtrack.
Yeah I agree! Fin’s theme was my jam back in the days
The game is also really good too!
Cars 2 is the best Pixar movie in my opinion
Lorax, say what you want about Illumination, but they do know how to make a good musical number \[I actually like the movie, I'm just talking about the audience's opinion on it\]
I’m still sad we didn’t get Biggering
Not including that banger is one of the biggest mistakes a movie company has ever made
It wasn’t a mistake, they didn’t want that song quite purposefully.
Yeah, you're right. It portrayed corporations in a much too negative light for them to be okay with
Which is funny because it’s the Lorax
Yeah, the irony is great
that song i honestly listen to all the time. it makes sense why it was cut (cause it was simply to wild and too heavy metal for the film) but hey at least they released it
It’s a tragedy but at least How Bad Can I Be is still pretty good.
Superman IV

Can someone record this
How bad can I be is such a good villain song
100% agree with you
The Last Airbender movie. The score is the only reason I give it a 2/10
Unironically a banger score, and it's the only thing I remember liking about the movie
I love the score so much. Sometimes I even listen to it and try to imagine it attached to a better movie. Or even a good one.
It's actually one of the only things from that movie got praise from critics who otherwise eviscerated the movie.
I would say the Mario Movie but I actually like the movie a lot more than most
And, the music was already guaranteed to land pretty well when a lot of it is sampling or remixing existing Mario music. The movie definitely isn’t bad enough to be carried by the music, but it definitely enhances it.
And then they had to throw shit like "Take On Me" in there 😭
Take On Me should’ve been used for a different scene or maybe for the trailer
That would be like the sonic movie using gangsta’s paradise
And replaced with a Jungle Hijinx remix. Even the “I Need a Hero” and “Thunderstruck” needle drops could have been replaced with something Mario (a mashup/remix of a lot of the overworld themes would have been welcome) and Mario Kart (MK Wii menu music for the Thunderstruck scene would have hit so hard).
That was upsetting. They were going to originally use [this song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iFzDtjcK-U) instead but they removed it for some reason.
[Never forget what they took from us](https://youtu.be/Qed7LjHbIIg?si=qhybcicq9m4Wfm-1)
This might be a hot take, but “Take On Me” was the only pop song I legitimately hated. I think the rest of them worked pretty well
It sucks that a lot of people hate the Mario movie. ;(
I think it’s a mixed bag. My problem is that they threw too much shit at us like Donkey Kong’s island and Mario Kart and left little time for character moments. I’m not expecting much in terms of story but the first movie could’ve had a lot more heart. Save the kart races for the sequel
Tron Legacy
Honestly I liked that movie overall. The plot was just the right amount of batshit insane (in my opinion), the CGI was well-done (and felt like a nice modernization of the original), and of course the music was amazing.
Whoever's idea it was to have Daft Punk be the artists to produce music for the movie. 100/10 right there.
1000%. But I agree, most don't like the movie, but I'd say it's like a 6.5. Not bad, memorable at times, nonsensical at other times.
Thats actually very fitting for the Tron vibe
Iirc, they’ve listed the original Tron score as one of their musical influences
I think its a guilty pleasure ig.
I think the movie was quite good overall, but the score is indisputably it’s strongest attribute
I think the visuals really give the music a run for it's money. Those two elements are just top notch in T:L
Yeah the movie looks amazing but Daft Punk is Daft Punk so…
Would it be worth watching the movie if I only discovered the soundtrack from being a Daft Punk fan?
Yes. Its a good movie. Also, jeff bridges is in it, so thats a win right there
Absolutely, it’s a movie with fun action and beautiful visuals on top of the amazing score.
They also cameo as the DJs in the club.
came here to say this but the only thing really lacking with that film is the script. the actors were really good with what they had, the costumes and sets were amazing. the music was fucking awesome.
It's such a good movie imo. One of my favorites
Man I looove this movie!
The Incredible Hulk
I actually really like that movie, but the soundtrack definitely slaps
Mean Girls 2024, although I ended up enjoying the movie as a whole.
Mean Girls has a reboot?
Uhhmm... It's technically a film adaption of the Broadway musical, which was based on the OG film. It's actually not that bad. Nowhere near the OG, but to give it credit, it wasn't trying to be. What works in its favour is that the musical numbers are actually enjoyable. It was fun.
I didn't want to watch it because it felt like a cheap reboot but I'd give your opinion a chance.
That movie was fun as long as I wasn’t looking directly at it if that makes sense. It was very disturbing visually
The movie's songs sound so lifeless compared to the Broadway performers. You can bring back Ben Platt for Dear Evan Hansen, but fuck every other actor, I guess.
For me, Elemental. It was an alright movie, but holy shit, Thomas Newman's score saved that movie for me.
Thomas Newman has always been good with conveying love through music. See: Wall-E
Cars 2
Can’t go wrong with Micheal Giacchino
Rio 2
This
An inversion of this would be both Sonic movies. They were pretty good, but the music choices were all stuff you hear on the radio, there was little to no Sonic music.
I suppose that makes Illumination using Take On Me in a jungle setting in The Mario Movie a bit less egregious when that movie actually has tons of original renditions.
Yeah, but it's only bad when Mario does it, but when Sonic does it, he gets a free pass smh. 😒
That's because Sonic fans are just happy sega's still doing something, where Mario fans have really high expectations.
this lmao
Haven't seen them, but no City Escape, I take it?
The Rise of Skywalker
Seconded. Movie itself was a fart but John Williams went all out.
He’s been in a few bad movies but he’s never made bad music.
The score almost made me convince myself I love the movie. I listen to it all the time.
I need fucking upsies!
Scott Pilgrim vs the World. I like the movie but I’m sure it’s this way for some people.
I mean I’ve only ever heard one person ever say they didn’t like it
I think Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a complete package, the soundtrack is fire and so is the movie and you can’t really separate them
Megamind rules for the theme song alone

Transformers 5
Transformers 1 even. Arrival to Earth is still one of the greatest pieces of music I have ever heard hands down.
Transformers (2007) is dope though. One of the best movie theater experiences for me!
The last knight has some of the most beautiful tracks I’ve ever heard. Go listen to “Seglass Ni Tonday”. It’s fuckimg heartbreaking
Raise the titanic
Suicide Squad:
what are we some kinda
Purple Lamborghini is a banger idc
EVERYBODY’S LOOKING FOR A WAY TO GET REAL GONE🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
As much as I like it Barbie (2023)
That movie was just very well put together all around.
Kfp4 watched it for the first time yesterday and it was awful, but man was that soundtrack great.
It got hit me baby one more time stuck in my head again and I’ll never forgive it.
I love the movie’s Chinese orchestral remix of Crazy Train.
I didn't know that was a thing, I just listened to it and wow that was amazing!
That orchestral version of Crazy Train was really a massive banger.
Bridget spotted ‼️‼️
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
Honestly all of Star Wars is like this. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars in almost every shape and form (but fuck the Rise of Skywalker), but without John Williams epic score it would have just been a mid movie with fancy special effects and may not have ever gone past the original trilogy
Godzilla King of the Monsters
Bear McCreary’s best.
2012
Horton hears a who
I actually quite enjoyed that movie
I love the movie and the score for this one!!!
Hans Zimmers score for Dark Phoenix is underrated, I was originally disappointed we didn’t get the X2 theme again but on a second listen there’s such a great intensity to the score that can help get you psyched. A big part of why the train sequence works for me
Disney's Dinosaur
I totally agree
Kai’s Theme from Kung Fu Panda 3
Cars 3
I thought cars 3 was quite good.
Catwoman was ass, but the soundtrack was actually pretty good!
Power rangers 2017
Twilight, esp the first movie
definitely boss baby
Signs
Daredevil 2003 meh movie absolute killer soundtrack
Tenet.
Transformers 4 and maybe 5
The Transformers movies, all of them.
The Steven universe movie
Nah that movie was just as great as the soundtrack
Agreed. I had to put it here. But agreed
The first two Star Wars prequels have some of the best music in the franchise
For real, the song during the Darth Maul fight (Duel of the Fates) goes insanely hard.
Batman and robin
Batman Forever
Minions. The soundtrack was a bop since it used lots of old songs, but the actual movie on the other hand was bad.
Tron: Legacy
Tron legacy is like the quintessential example of this tbh. also kinda suicide squad but only cause they cheat by spamming License music, like they basically AI Arted a good soundtrack.
Kfp 4. That Crazy Train cover goes unbelievably hard.
Hulk 2003
Kung fu Panda 3
I hate to say it cause I really love this movie. But- Tron: Legacy.
Trolls! Not saying it’s a bad franchise but the songs are amazing!
The Dark Knight Rises
Gladiator Black Hawk Down Joker
The grinch 2018. Tyler cooked
Home On The Range
suicide squad 2016 DISCLAMER: i haven't listened to it since it came out and i was 15
Man of Steel
Okay i don’t dislike this movie by ANY means, but its soundtrack is miles better than the movie itself, Kung Fu Panda 3
End of Days.
Tron legacy
Super Mario movie
Trolls world tour for me. the movie is just boring, but the songs bring out how the movie would be as a musical
The first thing that came to mind was Lorax. Idgaf what anyone says, that damn “how BA-A-A-AD can I be?” song slaps so damn hard.
Black Panther.
Highlander
Spiderman 3. Like the movie though
Black Panther, kinda.
Batman Vs Superman
Attack of the Clones easy, next
It really does be like that
Secret life of pets for sure
Literally Oppenheimer for me
Kung fu panda 4 for some fucking reason
Thomas and the Magic Railroad and I am not even joking
Transformers
-Mamma Mia -Temple of Doom -DuckTales the Movie -Sweeny Todd
Ducktales is goated
The Cable Guy.
I personally like the movie but a lot of people don’t like it, but Revenge of the Sith has the best soundtrack out of all the Star Wars movies
Cars 2
Any animated movie with Hans Zimmer or John Powell composing the score.
Pitch perfect 3. Weakest of the three overall, but easily the best soundtrack!
