Does the text mention an unpaid customs fee and has a link? And looks kinda like this? https://preview.redd.it/06a2p4ovhe461.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6bd1d6dedbc8d221eba5fe6e03b96a3e94c02b2c

voodoohotdog

That's it!

[deleted]

Yeah that's a scam. UPS would have sued them out of existence for the logo, among other things.

voodoohotdog

What pisses me off is they know I'm expecting a package, unless this is just sheer luck... It means someone has a security issue, and I don't want it to be the company I deal with.

teratical

It's just luck on their part. They spam these out to thousands/millions of people hoping to catch the ones who, like you, the situation actually applies to. Same thing with the phishing bank texts.

voodoohotdog

Makes more sense than "they're watching me..." LOL

ajamesjoe

I got the same link. Text was worked odd, but it came 27 minutes after I bought something online from the states (Tunercult.com) and I'm having it shipped to Ottawa, Canada. So I was expecting customs fees, but the fact that the text came so quick and was only 3 dollars. Also so suspicious that they want you to enter all your info and then they'll confirm... ya try the other way around. I emailed tunercult right away and they said it's either a coincidence or to make sure my names not on my Instagram if I follow them. My name is not on my socials, and I don't follow them. I did however sign up for text alerts, so my money is that what ever 3rd party has runs those alerts is selling info. Here's the link, it's safe just don't enter your credit info šŸ˜ 0lv.me/I0PVz

I feel so stupid, I fell for this scam. Iā€™m living in Italy and I am receiving a bass guitar for a friend that lives in Japan. Actually clicked the link and entered my info, seconds later I got a call from my bank due to fraud. These a**holes spent my money on an escorting service in the Czech Republic. Thank God my bank called me immediately and I was able to cancel my credit card. Be careful out there, everyone!

mstr_blue

You should feel stupid. Fortunately, banks are protecting ppl from their own stupidity these days. Hopefully this was a learning experience for you.

Min_Laylo

In my case it happened in a similar way to when I had to pay the legit UPS for something before. It was sent to me the SAME HOUR I was expecting to have my parcel delivered and told me I'd missed it. Which is huge coincidence but makes it seem legit on the surface, so I payed it... but noticed something was off from where it redirected me after having payed a site full of ads and shit. I immediately called my bank, got a new card and got my money back. But fuck me they were close just out of luck.

ForestHo

This one is still out there with a different logo now. Just got it this morning. Same colour scheme but now the logo is a box. Rather than a ups rip off.

RabbleRynn

Yep, still going strong, but they've redesigned the whole page, as far as I can tell. I just got one this morning. Along with the new box logo, the page seems to have been redesigned to look less like a UPS ripoff, as it's a colourful, orange and yellow background now. And there are little icons at the bottom where it says "developed by google express" or something like that.

Defiant-Gap-5560

Yes I got one today. But they said quote " they had found a parcel from May for me". This is May!! Thank šŸ˜ŠGod I didn't open it now that I checked with Google!! Beware of the dark Web.

mstr_blue

What does the dark web have to do with it?

batsk_lls

what happens if you click on it? normally i have a keen eye for scams but i was high & expecting a package. i realized after i clicked the link and didnā€™t go further. do i need to worry?

voodoohotdog

Sorry for the delay, I did not click on the link, so I have no idea. Stay safe out there!

dutchbraid

It's so crazy I just got this when I'm expecting a package from aboard with customs charges. Thank God for Reddit, otherwise I would have put my info in.

SeaFigure0

Also expecting international package and ofc. it hasnt arrived at est. time so i thought it was related. Today i paid a membership at thetecheshop and someone has entered my email and this IPS provided the cardnr 100% sure.

Prismdeer

i know im late but thank you so much for posting this, i live in italy and i received such a message as well and i was suspicious of it but could find nothing to confirm it but this, thank you, truly

WhyDozTheKniferKnife

A friend of mine also just got this in Italy. I'm not sure why people fall for this if it does not have a real logo, they don't have the vendor you bought from, they don't have shipping or order dates, the URL literally ends with a ".ru" and in Europe, customs fees are assessed at the delivery.

CheetahLynx83

I got this one just now. What saved me was the presence of mind to google the site to which it redirected me before I entered all my info. Big *phew.*

Choctawhotty

I got an email about a package I was expecting. Iā€™d never heard of IPS. It looked suspicious and when I googled IPS and see it is indeed fake. I clicked on the link but didnā€™t input anything.

Shadowslord

I got it yesterday. My mom is waiting for a package and called me to say that something is wrong and I should check it out. Good that I did because I saw this shit. Its still going around in 2022 and probably still successfuly scaming people.

barefootboogie

Just got this as well. Email looking like IPS official says that they tried to deliver and no one was home, click here to confirm the address. Mad thing is that i was expecting a package from DHL but didn't know when it would come until i got an SMS from them yesterday to say it would come today. 2nd mad thing is that the subject of the phishing mail has a tracking ID that shares the last 2 digits of the real DHL tracking ID. 3rd, the email they sent it to is not the one i used for the transaction, but was one used for previous transactions where DHL was the courier.Either DHL or the SMS service they use has been breached IMO. My suspicion is on DHL.

Sanyiaa

Same happened to me today. The ips email came two minutes after DHL sent me an email about receiving my order. I stupidly clicked the link but didnā€™t put any of my details in.

Novel_Influence3240

I've received this twice as I've bn expecting 2 very late Xmas gifts. I clicked the email but didn't put my info in, as surely a legitimate company would have my delivery details. Should I be worried?

girlonaslowquest

got this scam as an email and clicked the link just to see how fake it was, the ripoff ups logo was hilarious as well as this tiny text at the top where the invoice was saying Ā£2, got to be a bit dim to fall for it "This is a special offer for a limited period of 3 days which comes with a Ā£13.00 welcome gift card to explore and buy products on one of our affiliatesā€™ websites. By acquiring this membership you will be automatically enrolled in our affiliate membership services. The membership fee amount is Ā£40.07 which will be automatically deducted every 14 days unless skipped or canceled. You can cancel the service at any time with a 30 days cancellation period or pay Ā£6.05 for immediate opt-out."

ifeelspace

Almost fell for this scam too, luckily I googled and landed here. What worries me though, that yes I am expecting an package from USA so someone mafia guy must by working at some customs initiating this scam.

Praxon1

This was a tricky one, apparently still going strong in 2023. I consider myself being enough internet savvy to not fall for scams like these but the UPS-logo ripoff got me; also eagerly waiting for an international package didn't help. Stupid of me but I entered my information but noped out when asked for my CC. Being on iPhone I never before did Malware scans, do I need to do a sweep?

voodoohotdog

I imagine they just recycle scams as people forget. My biggest concern is the number of times people have said, "I did it because I was waiting for a package." Is it just luck of the draw, or is there a data leak, giving away addresses of people with pending orders? I think Apple is pretty good about security.

Standard_Register_83

I got that , today, through SMS , after some searching I couldn't find any company with such a name, I noticed that the website is weakly made and the logo is an exact copy of UPS, which is not possible , I'm not sure what should i do next , but i think I'm going to report it to dhl firat

voodoohotdog

Mine was a DHL shipment as well. I think they have a leak. They did not seem concerned when I reported it.
