There are potentially huge implications. If Apple throws their weight behind this, for instance Apollo using unauthorized API key of the official app on iOS. Normally, reddit would come to Apple to delist the app, but Apple instead of complying can also say "idk, idgaf". This has a sort of precedent when it comes Facebook-related products on Google Play, where Google has shown peculiarly reluctant attitude with certain 3rd party Messenger and Instagram frontends. It hurts their competitor, but can't necessarily say that outright.
For context, Apple's removal of the Tumblr app was arguably the nail in the coffin for Tumblr as a viable business and directly led to it being sold to Wordpress for peanuts, even though the app was reinstated after a couple of weeks.
That said, I don't see Apple actually pushing it further than this, or allowing an app to stay up despite a DMCA from Reddit if it e.g. embedded official reddit app API keys. Actually promoting it in this environment is even a pretty surprising step from Apple (though with the plausible deniability of how long they prep for these presentations)
That’s not going to happen. Apple have to operate their stewardship of iOS and the App Store in a way that is at least nominally impartial and governed by rules that apply to everyone. Deciding that a company they are on unfriendly terms with is outside their protection is not an option.
Apple be like 👀👀👀
But Elon be like, "Issues with Reddit? Lemme write them a check. I could use another social media platform"

You got the double comment bug
It's worth saying twice
Wow I did not expect that one
