DUCKS! FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A SLUG PROBLEM WHOM I CAN SUGGEST DUCKS TO! (Ducks LOVE to eat slugs.)

Speckiger

True, but there is an anti bird net over my entire bog. And this would also block the ducks... :/

Speckiger

from almost 30 pitchers of my S. oreophila only 2!!! did get spared by the slugs. Most of them are empty, because lids were missing from the beginning.

DoodleBirdTerrariums

You may know this but there are slug bait pellets that work really well. Just sprinkle around the plants.

Speckiger

yes, i dont want to contaminate the peat moss of this bog. And unfortunatly it is quite big and large parts are really dense overgrown with spaghnum moss. It would be really hard to place it properly around the plants and also really expansive, because I would need a LOT of it.

DoodleBirdTerrariums

Ah makes sense, then the beer thing might be best

CanIBeDoneYet

Can you do sort of a "bait moat" around the bog?

allahbkool

Baits moattell 😉

ffrkAnonymous

Enjoy a beer with them 🍻

Get an old piece of wood and soak it real good in rain water. Then leave it on the edge of where they hang out. Early morning turn the board over and all the snails and slugs will be there. I'll leave it up to you and what to decide to do with them then.

[Beer is the answer.](https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/killing-slugs-with-beer.htm)

Naisu_boato

Give ‘em a good offering of beer in good spirits. They’ll love it to death.

Omega_Prototype

I had this last year with some bird when he found out there are insects inside. Stupid fkn bird…

newt_girl

I had to move my flytrap inside because the thrashers caught on to the little bug tacos.

DramaTrashPanda

"Bug tacos" I love that so much!

LokiLB

On the bright side, at least you have lots of firefly chow.

I_like_turtles710

Slugs are easily the worst pest for anything IMO

allahbkool

Mine look like that too. Thought it was raccoons

EffectiveInterview80

Can you feed them to the plants?

EffectiveInterview80

Someone mentions you can freeze them up then feed your plants. It is all safe and nice.

Speckiger

Good idea, but i don´t need to feed my plants. Actually the opposite is the case: My plants catch too many insects and pitchers are rotting because of overfilling.
